Su Yang was surprised. “Better conditions?”
Zhao Licheng smiled and nodded. “That’s right. This is the most comfortable time I’ve ever had to deal with the relevant departments. They are indeed actively promoting various policies.”
Then, Zhao Licheng explained the conditions given by the two big shots from Shanghai.
Not only did they approve a plot of land for Jiadian Group in the suburbs of Shanghai, they also allowed four-fifths of the land to establish a research and development center or an industrial park, while the remaining one-fifth would be for the company’s residential area.
Moreover, the loan was 500 million yuan interest free, and a low-interest loan of 3 billion yuan. On top of that, a large part of the tax was exempted.
Apart from that, be it overseas or domestic sales, they would be officially provided with the relevant channels.
Plus, if Su Yang was willing to sell his phone in Shanghai, they would even open a shop for him at various CBD shopping malls.
The above were all the policies offered to the company. As for Su Yang, his parents, and a few executives, there were many preferential treatments as well, including resolving their household registers, giving them a house, a new class, and becoming the representative of the people, etc. All in all, it was a bunch of benefits.
Su Yang thought that there was something wrong with his approach.
‘This is equivalent to an all-round support. Be it the company, my social status... It’s all been taken care of.
‘The benefits are so great that I literally feel that I’ve struck gold.
‘Then again... If I think about this carefully, it’s actually no different from striking gold. After all, Old Master Jiang is a huge pot of gold already.’
Zhao Licheng then smiled and said to Su Yang, “Mr. Su, you see, Other than these two big shots, the big shots from various districts have also come to me and sent me all sorts of policies and plans. Their only goal is to let our company choose their district when we select a place to become our industrial park.”
At first, Su Yang was still confused in his thoughts. However, when he heard what Zhao Licheng said, he was enlightened. “They’re trying to fight for the place we pay our taxes.”
Zhao Licheng nodded. “Yes.”
Su Yang calmed down after knowing the motive of these big shots.
For these big shots, keeping a well-known company in their own territory was a very good thing. This was not only for publicity, but also for practical benefits.
A well-known company, especially a cellphone company like Su Yang, would have shocking sales, profits and tax payables.
The policies that were given in the beginning could be exchanged for Su Yang’s stay in Shanghai. Then, whichever district he stayed in would end up being profitable for them without a shadow of a doubt.
After all, a well-known company like Su Yang’s company was like a goose that could lay golden eggs. Just the taxation alone would be enough for them to last for decades, centuries even.
Furthermore, with such a world-renowned company, it was entirely possible to attract other similar types of companies to follow them. This would make it easy to develop the relevant businesses.
When these industries developed, they would lead the third industry and the real estate industry. Essentially, the entire district’s economy would thrive.
‘Ali would be an ideal example to follow. They built Ali City in Hangzhou, which ended up bringing the entire district’s economic chain to life.
‘Therefore, it’s understandable that these big shots would make all sorts of requests to keep me in Shanghai, to their districts to be exact.’
After listening to Zhao Licheng’s explanation, Su Yang said, “I’ll leave it to you to decide. We’ll go along with whoever has the best conditions and is the most suitable for our future development.”
Hearing this, Zhao Licheng nodded and made a note of it.
Then, he raised his head and said, “Also, Mr. Su. Even if we’ve decided on a certain district, it’s not something that could be built within a short period of time. So, since our office building is already built, can we go ahead and have our equipment and personnel be there in shifts?”
Su Yang nodded. “Sure. You can go ahead and make the necessary arrangements.”
Zhao Licheng once again made a note of this.
After that, he looked up again and said, “Mr. Su, one more thing. It’s about our cellphone.”
Su Yang looked at him, waiting for him to continue.
Zhao Licheng placed a document in front of Su Yang and said, “This is an application from the managing director of the management agency, Tan Mei. It is an application for the artist to endorse our cell phone.”
Su Yang was stunned. “Do we need to endorse our phones?”
Zhao Licheng smiled. “No.”
Su Yang was about to say “Forget it then”, but Zhao Licheng added, “But, the agency’s artists need it. They could use our phones to make a name for themselves.”
Su Yang was speechless.
‘So, this isn’t about endorsing our glass phones, but having the glass phones endorse the artists instead?
‘On second thought, it does seem to make sense.’
In the film and television industry, many celebrities who are B-list and above rely on advertisements to boost their popularity aside from acting in dramas or movies.
‘It’s actually quite easy to understand why this happens. Endorsing big brands like Chanel and Hermes would represent their status within the fashion industry, and it would further enhance their image in the audience’s hearts.
‘Plus, their appearance rate would depend on the advertising agency’s arrangements. If a certain advertisement agency ends up advertising all over the country, it would make the artist’s presence become well-known.
‘So, it’s understandable for Tan Mei to be tempted when she found out that her company has a product that transcends its time.’
After figuring out Tan Mei’s thoughts, Su Yang picked up the document and took a look. The document detailed the effects of endorsing cellphones would have on the artists under the agency. It also listed the information of the three main artists in the company, whom Tan Mei hoped that Su Yang could consider.
After Su Yang finished reading the documents, he put them down and hesitated for a moment before looking at Zhao Licheng. “What do you think?”
Zhao Licheng said, “I think we can consider it.
“Even though our cellphones don’t require endorsements, having a female celebrity as a spokesperson wouldn’t be a loss for us.
“Plus, this will greatly increase the artist’s image and value. Perhaps we might be able to nurture a world-class celebrity in one go.”
Su Yang asked, “Who do you think is suitable then?”
Tan Mei’s information contained information on three female artistes. They were also the three most important female artists in the agency, Lin Jiali, Han Yi, and Yang Meiyue.
Zhao Licheng tapped on Lin Jiali’s photo and said with a smile, “Actually, she isn’t a difficult choice.”
Su Yang asked, “Why?”
Zhao Licheng explained, “Han Yi’s contract with us is too loose, so it wouldn’t be appropriate to give her this opportunity.
“On the other hand, although Yang Meiyue has already become popular and is on the rise, she has a contract with Penguin Pictures as well, so she isn’t exclusive to our company. Hence, it wouldn’t be appropriate to give it to her.
“So, this leaves us with only Lin Jiali, an artist who was born and raised in our company. Plus, her contract is strict and long term.
“So of course she’s the most suitable.
“Furthermore, our cell phones are about to be released, but Han Yi and Meiyue both have jobs at the moment, so they won’t have time to film the promotional videos or photos. Lin Jiali, on the other hand, has just finished filming “Wandering Planet”, so she has nothing to do, which makes perfect timing for this.”
Su Yang then pondered. ‘So... This opportunity is especially prepared for Lin Jiali?
‘On second thought, Lin Jiali is the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, not even Han Yi can compare to her. She has an aura and a dazzling glow that matches the glass phone’s temperament.
‘Still... It looks like this female star is going to go further and further down the path of being just a pretty face...
‘However... A female supporting role in a 5 billion yuan movie, coupled with being the spokesperson for a groundbreaking cellphone... I believe she’s the only one who’s able to be such an awesome woman with a pretty face.
‘This also coincides with the route that I set for her back then.’
At that thought, Su Yang made his decision.
After everything was settled, Zhao Licheng chatted with Su Yang for a while more about his personal matters before he packed up and prepared to leave. He was living harmoniously with his wife now, and their children were staying on campus. Hence, the two of them used his “inheritance” to buy a new house and moved in to spend their time together.
One of them was in his 20s, while the other was in her 40s. They were at the prime of their youth, so they had been exercising until late at night.
When Su Yang heard this, he couldn’t help but sigh. ‘Who said that men only liked 18-year-old girls?
‘Just look at Zhao Licheng, isn’t he an avid “middle-aged woman” lover?’
After tidying up everything, Su Yang sent Zhao Licheng to his car.
When Zhao Licheng closed the car door, Su Yang suddenly remembered what Zhao Licheng said about Meiyue. He could not help but ask, “By the way, Old Zhao. Is Meiyue popular now?”
Zhao Licheng fastened his seatbelt and looked at Su Yang with a half-smile. He nodded. “Mr. Su, if you’re free tonight, you could take a look at the episode for “Produce 101′′ two days ago. It’s very interesting.”
After that, Zhao Licheng waved at Su Yang and drove off.
Su Yang was left confused. ‘I have no idea what kind of riddle Zhao Licheng’s playing at.’ At that thought, he kicked away his slippers and returned to the living room. After that, he took out his glass phone and searched for information on Meiyue. He wanted to see what kind of trouble Meiyue was up to.
Then... He saw the video.
In the video, Meiyue was crying into the camera again.
She sobbed.
“I... I didn’t want to do that either. I didn’t know that the show would become so popular when it got broadcasted. ┭┮_┭┮
“I just said what I thought. I didn’t expect my boss to become so famous.
“In the end, my manager, Sister Tan, called me and scolded me. She said that I really can’t do anything right except for causing my boss trouble. Uwuuu... ┭┮_┭┮
“Actually, my boss is quite cute. Really, it’s true. ┭┮_┭┮
“I’ve been under too much pressure lately. It’s just a competition, but I didn’t expect to be this tired.
“You have no idea. Every morning, the production team would wake me up and tell me that I needed to dance.
“Then, I would keep on telling them that I can’t take it anymore. ┭┮_┭┮
“Then, they would tell me “you can do it, Yang Meiyue.
“That’s why I can only persevere and push on, but I’m really tired! Uwuuu! ┭┮_┭┮
“After the show got broadcasted, I realized then that I have a lot of fans. My sisters also told me that I’m lucky because it’s a blessing to have so many people like me.
“However, I feel that this luck is too heavy. It’s so heavy that I have to get up and dance every day... ┭┮_┭┮
“Plus, once I made a mistake, everyone would scold me. So, I’d be so anxious every day. ┭┮_┭┮
“I really practiced for a long time, but I’d end up making mistakes the moment I got on stage. I don’t know why that’s happening either. o(╥_╥)o
“Boss, can you save me?! (ㄒoㄒ)”
Su Yang fell silent instantly after he was done watching the video.
‘Has it been too hard on Meiyue ever since I sent her over there?
‘Why does she look so...
‘So funny, Hahaha!’
At that thought, he browsed through the comments, and sure enough, there were not many who pitied her. Instead, there were many who ended up laughing like him.
The comments section was filled with countless “Hahahahaha”.
In fact, there were even messages such as. ‘I’m sorry, I know you’re upset, but... It’s just so funny. Hahaha!’
‘If I don’t laugh like a pig, I’ll be letting down such a cute girl. Hahahaha.’
‘Boss! Please don’t save her! Hahaha!’
Hence, Su Yang was relieved. ‘It seems like I’m still human.
‘Or perhaps... Everyone’s no longer human?’
After that, Su Yang went on to search for this episode. Sure enough, the viewership ratings were still very high. Everyone was attracted to this cute girl. Even Meiyue’s popularity ranking rose to the top.
This caused Su Yang to almost go blind when he saw the data. ‘This girl is such a people’s person that it’s heaven defying.’
As for rescuing Meiyue, Su Yang did not even think about it. ‘Putting aside the fact that we’ve already signed a contract, even if we didn’t, the audience would probably be the first to go crazy if Meiyue actually withdrew from the competition.
‘I have no intention of being beaten to death by her fans.
‘Moreover... This program is pre-recorded, and this episode was probably recorded half a month ago. So, even if I wanted to save her now, it would already be too late. Who knows, maybe... Meiyue’s gotten used to having to dance already.’
“Hahahaha.”
After laughing, Su Yang returned to the virtual space and took a look at the place that Janet had added.
‘There are only 24 hours left on the countdown, it looks like I’ll be able to see Janet tomorrow night.
‘I’m looking forward to seeing his changes as well.’
In fact, Su Yang had already thought of the next little monster he was going to add a point for... Little Deeny.
Since his next step was to rely on the glass phone to travel around the world, Little Deeny’s improvement might help him even more.
Hence, after making up his mind, Su Yang returned to the castle to wash up and sleep.
As soon as he laid down on the bed, Chu Xia’s video call came.
It was the first time he received a video call from his girlfriend in the middle of the night, so Su Yang was curious as he answered.
After answering the video call, Chu Xia appeared on the screen.
Her small face occupied half of the virtual screen, her skin so fair and tender that it seemed as if it would break if he blew on it.
Looking at the arrangement behind her through the other half of the screen, Su Yang guessed that she should be in her bedroom, which he had been before.
At that moment, she was wearing a pink nightgown as she sat cross-legged on the bed, her face close to the screen. Her pretty face was filled with shock as she said, “Su Yang! Su Yang! Oh my god! I just found out a secret!”
Su Yang looked at Chu Xia on the virtual screen and smiled. “You found out that I love you?”
Chu Xia was actually indifferent to Su Yang’s flirting that time as she waved her hand and anxiously said, “No, you’re wrong!”
“It’s my best friend!”
Su Yang quickly explained, “I have nothing to do with your best friend though!”
Chu Xia tilted her head and was stunned for a moment. She felt that there was something wrong with his words, but after a second, she stopped thinking about it and said, “Stop interrupting me! I’m being serious here!
“My best friend broke up with her boyfriend two days ago, and then she met a handsome guy!”
Su Yang replied, “Oh. What about it then?”
Chu Xia said, “What about it?! Try and guess who that person is!”
