Wang Bei looked at Liu Yiyi imposingly.
However, Liu Yiyi only glanced at her lightly. Then, she lowered her head and continued reading instead of arguing.
Seeing that Liu Yiyi had no interest in continuing arguing with her, she recalled that Liu Yiyi and Su Yang had been on bad terms previously. Then, her tone softened. “Actually... I’m not saying that I hate him.”
“I just...”
She paused and pursed her lips. “I just feel bad for Chu Xia.”
Her voice trailed off. “Isn’t he just from the countryside? Is he really that great? Chu Xia is such a nice person, yet she’s literally throwing herself at him...”
Even though she spoke softly, the room was quiet, so everyone could hear her.
Liu Yiyi did not say a word. She quietly flipped through a book and did not say another word.
Luo Luo nodded thoughtfully. She felt that what Wang Bei said made sense.
She pondered silently. ‘Although Wang Bei’s words are a little crude, they do sound reasonable. Money is never the goal, it’ll only be a useless piece of paper if the money earned isn’t spent.
‘If someone gives me 100,000 yuan every month, but the 100,000 yuan has no value and can neither be spent nor used to make more money. Furthermore, others may not even know what the stack of paper I have is. In that case, would I still want it?
‘Earning money is never about the money to begin with, it’s about the purchasing power that comes with the money. Money would only have value when it’s spent on food, drinks, clothes, necessities, and everything else the spender likes.
‘For someone like Su Yang, other than buying a company car and using it as a cover to show off his status, he hasn’t even changed his clothes or shoes. I even heard that he’s living in a rented basement outside the school. Therefore, no matter how much money he earns, how is he any different from being poor?
‘In fact, I used to have a good impression of Su Yang. I even looked up to him as my role model and the Prince Charming in my dreams. But now... I realize how naive I’ve been.
‘However, regardless of what Wang Bei thinks, I feel that no matter how bad Su Yang is, he’s more than enough to be a match for Chu Xia.’
However, Luo Luo merely kept her thoughts to herself since she was going to go out and have fun with Wang Bei that day. She said fawningly, “I think you’re right.”
Seeing that Luo Luo agreed with her words, Wang Bei raised her eyebrows smugly and continued to draw her eyebrows.
Luo Luo also chatted with her whilst trying to curry favor with her. She wanted to know more about the gathering.
Shortly after, the two were done with their makeup. Wang Bei received a call from her Brother Lu, “We’re almost there, get ready to come down.”
Wang Bei remained calm after hearing what Brother Lu said. Luo Luo, on the other hand, screamed excitedly. She quickly pulled Wang Bei to look at her makeup. After confirming that there were no problems, she picked up her bag and went down the dormitory with Wang Bei.
It was a weekend that day, hence at 10: 30 am, it was the time when most of the students would walk around in the school as a couple. Some might be on their way to attend whatever gatherings they had as a group, some went for a walk, some visited the cyber cafe and some went home. All in all, they would all come out at around that time.
In the end, the girls saw a row of luxury cars lined up into two rows. A Ferrari F8 was leading the group, a Porsche 718, a Porsche 911, a BMW i8 and other luxury cars worth 1 to 2 million yuan, all of them had been grandly driven into Shanghai University.
Along the way, it attracted a lot of attention. After all, it was not just 1 luxury car, but 7.
Most students in the school would be curious and shocked to see so many luxury cars driving into the school since they were still young and have not been exposed to society yet. Su Yang’s million dollar luxury car had already attracted a lot of attention, hence the row of sports cars that cost millions of yuan more was even more eye-catching.
The spectating students began to discuss among themselves.
“Whose car are those?”
“I don’t know, but they don’t seem to be from our school, do they?”
“Another Su Yang?”
“Su Yang isn’t as impressive as them. Those are Porsches and Ferraris. Even the cheapest one costs millions of yuan. That F8 on its own costs 3 million yuan already.”
“D*mn, that’s so expensive that I can even use the money to buy a house!”
“Just 1 house? I’ll be able to afford 10 houses from my hometown with that amount of money.”
“No way... Where’s your hometown located at? How could it be that cheap?”
“He Gang.”
“...No wonder. Then you’d even be able to buy 20 houses with that money.”
At that moment, Chu Xia’s two roommates had also gone downstairs. They stood at the door like princesses waiting for their prince to marry them. They looked up at the two rows of luxury cars and their cheeks flushed with excitement.
This was especially so when they saw the envious looks on the other students’ faces. They could feel waves of excitement rising in their hearts. ‘Who doesn’t have vanity built in their hearts? Who doesn’t want to be the center of attention?
‘Which girl doesn’t have dreams of becoming a princess?
‘Which girl doesn’t want others to notice her?’
Therefore, they were all so excited that they were about to wet themselves. It was then that Luo Luo understood what Wang Bei had said. ‘Money is only valuable if it is spent. Only by letting everyone know that they had spent it would it be valuable!’
The 7 luxury cars drove into the liberal arts faculty and stopped at the entrance of the female dormitory. Wang Bei and Luo Luo quickly made themselves stand upright. They subconsciously moved their left feet forward to make their legs look longer.
It does look quite pleasing to the eye when 2 girls who were rather pretty stood there as they made themselves look pretty.
The crusade of cars stopped and the door of the Ferrari opened. A fair, chubby, 1.7 meter tall man stepped out.
He was wearing a black sportswear. There was an EA7 logo on his chest and he was wearing a pair of black sneakers. On the shoes was a black shadow with a basket.
It was obvious that the outfit was expensive. When he wore it, it made the originally plump man look like a... nimble fatty.
Seeing the fatty get out of the car, Wang Bei smiled and went up to him. “Brother Lu, where are we going to have fun today?”
Brother Lu was obviously quite familiar with Wang Bei. His eyes seemed to have disappeared as he smiled with his chubby face, but he looked very festive, “How about we play “Werewolf”?”
Wang Bei nodded continuously, “Sure! Sure!”
Then, she remembered her roommate, Luo Luo. She turned around and pointed at Luo Luo, saying, “Oh right, Brother Lu, she’s my friend and wants to play with us. How about it?”
Fatty Lu sized up Luo Luo and said with a smile, “There’s no point in having too few people, so you’re free to come along if you want.”
Then, he added, “Your friend is quite good-looking as well.”
In all honesty, Luo Luo was not very pretty and would probably pass off as an ordinary girl, but girls would be at their prime when they’re around her age. Luo Luo’s face was covered in collagen and she exuded a youthful aura, those were all a woman’s natural weapon that would be able to attract men.
In that sense, there were also people who said that men were actually the most loyal beings. A 16-year-old guy would prefer a girl that was 17 to 18 years old, an 18-year-old guy would prefer a girl that was 17 to 18 years old, even a 30-year-old guy would still prefer a girl that was 17 to 18 years old. All in all, their loyalty to their preference never changes.
Wang Bei obviously had a good relationship with him. Upon hearing his words, she glared at him, “Don’t you dare lay your hands on my roommate, or I’m telling Auntie.”
Fatty Lu shook his head with a silly smile. “What could I possibly do? Besides... My mom hasn’t had the time to bother me recently.”
Wang Bei asked curiously, “Is something wrong with her?”
Fatty Lu smacked his lips and didn’t want to say much. “What else can it be? She’s having another argument with my half-sister again. It’s so annoying that I can’t even remember how many times it’s happened already.”
Wang Bei did not dare to butt in after hearing what Fatty Lu had said. ‘I can’t even begin to imagine how complicated their family matters are.’
Just as the conversation between the two fell silent, there was a cry from afar all of a sudden, followed by the chatter of students.
Accompanied by the exclamation was the deafening sound of an engine.
The two of them turned to look at the source of the sound, and they saw a fiery red Ferrari rumbling through the school gates.
It had a streamlined body, highly raised headlights and 2 air vents on the front of the car which made it look very impressive.
There was a logo of a golden horse placed on the hood of the engine which made It look so majestic, it was as if a King had just arrived.
Compared to that car, Fatty Lu’s friends’ 6 cars looked like cheap metal. Even Fatty Lu’s Ferrari F8 could not hold its head high in the face of that car.
The car was like a burning cloud, burning its way to the female dormitory before slowly stopping before the door.
Just as everyone was curious about the owner of the car, the car stopped. Its windows were closed, and no one could see what was inside.
Fatty Lu looked at the newly arrived Ferrari and his small eyes widened. “D*mn, it’s a 488. How beautiful.”
At that moment, Wang Bei’s attention was drawn to the Ferrari. That Ferrari looked too cool and eye-catching, especially its fiery red exterior. It was so literally the highest definition of cool.
Hearing Fatty Lu mutter softly, Wang Bei looked at him and asked, “Brother Lu, is this car very good?”
Fatty Lu looked away and nodded. “Of course. That’s 1 of the 2 most expensive models in the Ferrari series.”
Wang Bei obviously did not know much about cars. She looked at the car, then looked at Brother Lu’s Ferrari and asked, “Is it different from yours?”
Fatty Lu’s eyes were filled with envy. “Of course there’s a difference. The F8 I have is a low spec which costs about 3 million yuan only. The lowest spec for that car costs 4 million yuan in comparison. From the looks of it, it should be a medium spec or even a high spec model. If that’s true, then it’ll cost maybe 5 to 6 million yuan. Do you think there’s a difference?”
Hearing Fatty Lu say that, Wang Bei’s mouth slowly opened, her eyes filled with surprise.
Fatty Lu was obviously someone who loved cars. When he saw the car, he did not even care about Wang Bei. His small eyes stared at the car as he sized it up. He even leaned closer to admire it.
Seeing Fatty Lu like this, Wang Bei rolled her eyes. ‘This fatty is good in every way, but he’s a car fanatic, he’ll never be able to look away when he sees a nice car. No one will be able to disturb him during that time.’
At that thought, Wang Bei could not be bothered to stand to a side and wait around. Therefore, she pulled Luo Luo over and brought her along to chat with the other rich guys.
They were all Fatty Lu’s close friends and Wang Bei had already met them a few times prior, hence they could be considered to be familiar with each other.
With Wang Bei’s introduction, Luo Luo quickly became familiar with the other rich guys.
As she chatted with them, Luo Luo felt her face burning up.
‘It’s only normal for everyone to have a sense of vanity, hoping that the people around them would look up to them. However, I don’t have any capabilities to be able to let others pay attention to me. What am I supposed to do?
‘In that case, I’ll just be friends with some awesome people! When others see us, they’ll definitely be able to see me then! If I were to be together with an awesome person, I’d look awesome as well!’
As she walked amongst the luxury cars, a few good-looking rich guys surrounded Luo Luo, even her classmates were all looking at her. To her, who had always been living a normal life, that was like a scene that would only happen in a dream.
As she felt her classmates’ gazes on her, Luo Luo’s heart was pounding with excitement.
Suddenly, she felt as if she understood Su Yang’s feelings. ‘It feels great to be the center of attention of the entire school!
‘Right now, I really wish that I could use a loudspeaker to tell everyone that these people who are driving luxury cars are all my friends! I want to see whether they’d be envious of me or not!’
However, it was a pity that she could not do that for the sake of ‘being cool’. She could only pretend that she was already used to having that lifestyle and needed to pretend that she was not affected by it by behaving casually.
She felt like she was a socialite walking through high society.
Even though she did not see the looks on the students’ faces, she could imagine the complicated emotions of envy and jealousy.
She could feel the eyes on her like a spotlight, shining on her like a princess.
At this moment, her vanity was greatly satisfied.
Also, just as she had expected, the row of luxury cars still attracted the attention of the students who were walking in and out of the school. They started to look at them and discuss amongst themselves.
“That looks like Luo Luo and Wang Bei?”
“It’s really them.”
“Who are they with? Why are they all driving luxury cars?”
“Friends, I guess.”
“Their friends are really rich.”
Occasionally, a voice would enter Luo Luo’s ears, and it made her feel like she was floating in the air. ‘Wouldn’t they be referring to me if they said the people around me are awesome?
‘I’ll have to show off my rich friends for sure.’
For many people, when they did not have anything to show off, showing off their friends became a good choice. ‘These are my friends. Look how awesome they are, and I know each and every one of them, so I am also awesome!’
That scene sometimes becomes a very common phenomenon...
Just as the two of them were secreting dopamine, they heard laughter coming from afar. The voice was as clear and melodious as an oriole and it made one want to see who the owner of the voice was.
To Luo Luo and Wang Bei, this voice was extremely familiar.
They looked over at the same time and saw... Chu Xia and Su Yang.
The two of them were talking and laughing as they walked toward the female dormitory. Their unrestrained youth made one envious.
Seeing the two of them, Wang Bei and Luo Luo had different reactions.
It was as if Luo Luo had done something wrong. The smile on her face slowly disappeared and she lowered her head slightly. On the other hand, Wang Bei frowned and looked at Su Yang with a displeased expression.
She glanced at Luo Luo before grabbing her and walking towards Su Yang and Chu Xia.
