Chapter 645: The World’s Billionaires List Is Out
A moment later, Little Deeny’s voice was heard. “Master, the World’s Billionaires List is the ranking list of the richest people in the world. It’s very influential. The person that’s ranked first is usually given the nickname the richest man.
“This ranking is divided into global rankings and national rankings.”
“Currently, the richest man in the world is Bill Gates, while the richest man in our country is Ma Yun. They are both people who can either cause an earthquake to the country or the world’s economy by just rocking their legs.”
Hence, Su Yang now had a rough understanding of the rankings and asked, “What’s my current ranking?”
Little Deeny said, “137th place in our country.”
Su Yang was shocked. “That low?”
Little Deeny said, “Master, this isn’t low. Those who are even able to make it onto the list are all amongst the richest people in our country. Although there will definitely be some who would get missed out from this rankings list, this in itself represents a certain degree of recognition. In the future, you will be considered to be a truly influential tycoon.”
Su Yang touched his chin. ‘This all still feels so surreal.
‘I’ve actually become an influential tycoon just because of this lousy rankings list?
‘Nonsense.’
However, when Su Yang thought about how his wealth could be ranked in the top 150 among the 1.3 billion people, he felt excited.
Therefore, he said, “Fine, it’s already happened anyway. Plus, they didn’t ask for my opinion.”
With that, Su Yang got Little Deeny to check his ranking and introduction..
Su Yang’s net worth was estimated to be 8.520 million yuan on the World’s Billionaires List.
Due to the fact that the rankings required authority, the World’s Billionaires List had given Su Yang the evidence for the judgement of his wealth. The list clearly listed the subsidiary companies under Su Yang’s Jiadian Group, including management agencies, e-commerce companies, technology companies, information companies and so on.
Even Pool’s milk tea shop and Sanque’s health supplements company had been brought out during their background check.
The valuation they gave was based on the Jiangs’s investment. At that time, Su Yang’s technology company’s valuation was around six billion yuan. Although they did not know what kind of research the technology company was conducting, they felt that it was overvalued, at leasts at the time. Hence, they lowered it to 5.7 billion yuan temporarily.
The remaining 2 billion yuan was mainly due to the Findme app, which had with tens of millions of users, the film companies that made “Wolf Warriors”, “Fighting The Buddha”, the management agency that signed Han Yi and the valuation of Su Yang’s headquarters that owned a piece of land in Shanghai.
The World’s Billionaires List suggested that Su Yang’s entire corporation’s net worth should be around 8.8 billion yuan. However, because Su Yang’s corporation’s shares were extremely concentrated, it was equivalent to a personal company. Hence, Su Yang’s net worth was 8.52 billion yuan.
Furthermore, the ones who were in front of him on the rankings were the 131 richest people, Chen Tianqiao and his wife, Zhou Hongwei and Gao Dekun’s families.
Chen Tianqiao was the president of Shengda Group, which he had started from scratch. He used to be the richest man in China and was very famous.
On the other hand, Zhou Hongwei was the CEO of 360 Group and he was very famous without the need of any introduction.
As for the remaining Gao Dekun’s family, even though they were not very famous, many people were familiar with the logistics company that their family operated, named Poseiden.
Every one of the 150 richest people in the country was famous. Just taking out the list alone was enough to make one gasp in surprise. ‘Oh, it’s him! That big shot!
Hence, Su Yang became famous because he was on the list.
Actually, with his 130th place, normally speaking, he would not attract much attention. However, he was famous mainly because of his age.
Among the top 400 richest people in the country, most of them were successful people who were in their 40s’ or 50s’.
Yet, at that moment... A 19-year-old young man suddenly appeared out of nowhere. He was simply eye-catching.
Therefore, many media outlets relied on Su Yang’s introduction to ride on the popularity of the World’s Billionaires List.
Even the title also attracted attention.
[A 19-year-old youth has actually been nominated to be on China’s Billionaires List because of this reason...]
[Is there something wrong with the data provided by the World’s Billionaires List? Has 49 years old been miswritten as 19 years old?]
[The biography of how a 19-year-old became a tycoon. Your eyes will get wet after reading this.]
As a result, Su Yang’s popularity rose and his fame increased. That was why so many people congratulated him.
After clearing up the situation, Su Yang did not know whether to laugh or cry.
‘What’s all this? Is this a joke?’
Therefore, after reading it, he tossed it aside and ignored it.
For him, the increase in his reputation was not very useful. After all, the method of him increasing the number of coins and upgrading the system was to “influence people in a positive manner”, not to “have a greater reputation”.
Therefore, other than being able to show off, there was no other meaning to having this title. Furthermore, Su Yang did not like to show off...
‘Su Yang is a low-profile, humble and upright person.
‘Yeah, that’s definitely it.’
After getting out of bed, Su Yang washed up and gave Guo Fan a call. He told Guo Fan that he had settled the issue of the copyright to “Wandering Planet” and that the latter could now prepare with a peace of mind.
Guo Fan was overjoyed. He repeatedly expressed that he would definitely live up to Su Yang’s expectations! Towards the end, he did not forget to congratulate his new boss on getting onto the rich and poor rankings. Su Yang did not know whether to laugh or cry.
Two days later, Mu Lei from National Films gave Su Yang a call and told him that the terms of the collaboration with National Films had been settled. National Films relied on the movie rights of the novel to participate in the production of “Wandering Planet”.
As for the copyrights of “Wandering Planet”, the surrounding profits, as well as the subsequent benefits, had all been fixed as whereby National Films would have a 5% share.
Other than that, National Films also took on the distribution of “Wandering Planet” with a 4% share of the box office earnings.
All in all, Mu Lei handled the whole thing perfectly.
At first glance, National Films was going to receive 9% of the profits from “Wandering Planet” without contributing anything, reaping a huge profit.
However, that was not actually the case.
Due to domestic distribution practices, any company that handed over the distribution work would receive at least 7% to 9% of the box office earnings. Some even required the production companies to fork out their own money.
Furthermore, as the only state-owned enterprise in the domestic film industry, with their distribution and promotional skills, it would definitely not be a problem to take away about 10% of the profits.
After taking everything into account, it was equivalent to National Films taking on the release of “Wandering Planet” for 9% of the expenses, which Su Yang felt that it was worth it.
After everything was settled, Su Yang personally flew to the Imperial Capital. This time, he took a normal flight because he was not travelling alone.
This time, he brought Zhao Licheng, Pan Zhaodi, Guo Fan and Mr. Jia to the Imperial Capital. After arriving, he especially called Li Zijun over.
The reason why so many of them had showed up was not only because they valued the signing of the contract, but also because they wanted to take the opportunity to gather the core team members.
Of course... Mr. Jia was only a legal consultant, responsible for reading the terms of the contract. Hence, the meeting was mainly between Zhao Licheng and Li Zijun.
After introducing the both of them, Su Yang left them to chat on their own, while he and Mr. Jia began looking through the contract.
After Little Deeny and Mr. Jia told Su Yang that there was no problem with the contract, Su Yang signed his name and stamped his official seal.
Hence, a film crew with Jiadian Pictures taking the lead was officially established, revolving around “Wandering Planet”.
Su Yang placed a lot of importance on this project. From the start, he had already invested 30 million yuan into the production team so that Guo Fan could prepare and build the production team. As for the rest of the production team, Li Zijun and Guo Fan would discuss it together.
Su Yang gave Guo Fan almost unlimited authority, but he also got Li Zijun to supervise him.
After all, this project was too big. Just the initial investment alone was a few hundred million, which could not be lost.
Other than that, Su Yang had also utilized the best tradition of the entertainment industry, shoving personnels into the production team.
The first person he shoved was Lin Jiali.
After reading Guo Fan’s script, Su Yang realized that the script was very simple. The main focus was on special effects and domestic sentiments. After telling Guo Fan to continue filling in the script, Su Yang also decided to let Lin Jiali become one of the main characters, the female soldier.
After all... the protagonist of this movie was basically the same as the protagonist of “Godzilla” or “Transformers”, where they are just there for show and to promote the plot which was not of much use. ‘This, seems like a role customized for Lin Jiali...
‘If this movie were to be released, Lin Jiali might become the first actress in the country to earn five billion yuan.
‘After that, she could make a guest appearance in a few other movies. Who knows, she might even be a supporting actress with a box office earnings of 10 billion yuan. This way, I suppose I’d have completed my celebrity nurturing plans.’
Of course, the other reason why Su Yang sent Li Zijun over was to keep an eye on Lin Jiali. If Lin Jiali was not serious during training or filming, Su Yang would replace her without any hesitation.
‘I’ll give Lin Jiali a chance. However, she has got to comply with my requirements and not affect the movie.
‘If the movie fails because of her, I will not show her any mercy.’
However, after reading Guo Fan’s script, Su Yang felt that the main character’s team did not have much of an impact on the movie. Furthermore, the settings were not pleasing to the eye. ‘They’d be getting off easy just by not being hated...’
That day, another joyous occasion arrived. Tan Mei personally gave Su Yang a call and said that the matters for “Produce 101” had been settled.
After the program team finished reading Mei Yue’s information, they placed great importance to the video recordings. Hence, they personally went to the office to meet Yang Meiyue.
The main director of the show personally made the decision for Mei Yue to participate and said that he would place more focus on training Mei Yue.
The only problem was that Su Yang’s intention of investing was impossible. This was because the production company of the show was a subsidiary fully-funded by Tencent. Therefore, they did not lack money and had channels. Apart from that, they were also very confident in the show.
Furthermore, the requirement for the contestants’ participation was at the end of the show. After they debuted, the contestants would have a two-year collaboration contract, where the management contracts would be co-owned by both companies.
Due to the fact that the matter was rather important, Tan Mei went off to consult Su Yang immediately.
Then, Su Yang agreed without hesitation.
‘If you want a horse to run, you’ve got to first feed it grass. If the other party doesn’t gain any benefits, how could they use the platform to promote Mei Yue?
‘I’m not worried at all about who Mei Yue belongs to in the end. After all, I’ve got a 10 year contract with Mei Yue, so she can’t escape!
‘No one has ever taken away what’s mine!’
As the matters about Su Yang’s career came to an end and the sniping of the Xinli Education system had yet to begin, Su Yang had nothing to do.
Therefore, after returning to Shanghai, Su Yang did not waste this previous leisure time. Instead, he returned to Socot Island and planned to test out the newly obtained Silver Ability [Sealing Frame]. ‘I haven’t used this ability much since I’ve obtained it.’
As for his sparring partner, it was Spirit Building, of course, who was living a retired life.
Coincidentally, Spirit Building came up with something new about spiritual energy and wanted to teach it to Su Yang...
