Chapter 309 Bubbles Takes Control. Director Wang Falls Into a Trap
The set was noisy with people mingling and talking
Obviously, this twist and turn of events made everyone’s mood quite erratic. At first, everyone didn’t dare to speak out although they were angry that Su Yang was reprimanded by Director Wang.
Later, they were so excited that they had to resist cheering out loud for him when Su Yang knocked Director Wang over. They were even more excited when he pulled out a termination contract and slapped it to his face.
However, when Su Yang brought in a thirteen or fourteen-year-old girl as a replacement, they were confused and puzzled...
What the hell is this onsite producer doing?
Su Yang glanced around the set and saw that everything was as he expected.
After all, it was human nature for a teenage girl like Bubbles to be rather unconvincing to the crew, especially regarding her capabilities.
That was why he forced the star actor Chen Min to make that promise to him! It was because he had a good standing in the crew. Now, it was time for Chen Min to make good on his promise!
Thinking so, Su Yang turned around and then said to the equally stunned Chen Min, “Mr. Chen Min. You said that no matter which director I get for you, you’ll cooperate as long as he or she is a professional director.”
Chen Min’s face still had the handsomeness of his youth on it, and he squeezed out a cryptic expression. “Producer Su, a promise is a promise, but...”
Before he could finish his sentence, Su Yang interrupted him, “Fine. Since Mr. Chen Min has agreed, let’s see if this director I hired to direct the movie is truly a professional!”
Saying that, Su Yang disregarded Chen Min’s reaction and winked to Producer Zhao instead.
He was an outsider and held no standing within the crew. Producer Zhao, on the other hand, was the boss of the crew. In order to get the workers to cooperate and give Bubbles a chance, it was still up to Producer Zhao to help. Neither he nor Bubbles could do it.
Chen Min’s mouth was gaping behind Su Yang but he finally turned it into a smile. ‘Okay, since I promised, let’s give it a try.
Producer Zhao was completely confused as to what tricks Su Yang had under his sleeve.
However, one thing he had going for him was that he knew how to do what the boss wanted.
Since the boss has spoken, he has to follow the orders accordingly as a subordinate.
In fact, he felt a little guilty in his heart as well. After all, he was the one who brought Director Wang in. Now that something seemed to have turned our wrong about his hire, he was to blame as the producer. Because of this, he was really thankful that Su Yang was able to take over this task as his boss and deal with it.
After all, since the boss had stepped in, he wouldn’t get all the blame if things ended up going south. With this thought in mind, he no longer paid attention to Director Wang, and wholeheartedly instructed everyone to let Bubbles take over the role of director.
Soon, everything was ready and Bubbles began directing
As the only little monster with two bronze abilities under Su Yang’s command, Bubbles’ abilities were undeniable. The Photography Ability and Director Ability she possessed gave her a wide array of knowledge related to directing and handling the camera, enough to put her above most ordinary directors.
After all, her basic abilities were roughly equivalent to a university graduate with about five years of professional experience.
Under her, the shoot went smoothly.
Initially only wanting to fulfil his promise, Chen Min began growing increasingly comfortable as he worked under Bubbles. He found that she was truly a professional director. Not only would she coordinate the lighting to ensure there is sufficient light, but she’d also even move the camera accordingly to get the desired shot, to the extent of doing it herself.
Initially, Chen Min and the old camera guy from the crew thought she was merely messing around. However, after seeing the images she took on the monitor, he had to admit that her work was as good as those done by more experienced cameramen.
When Chen Min had a disagreement with her during the shoot, she’d try to explain the effect she wanted to achieve as simply as she could. At first, Chen Min was afraid that she would be similar to Director Wang and pretended to understand when she didn’t. However, he found that the emotions were much richer and the characters were better-rounded when he acted according to Bubbles’ instructions.
Within the hour, Bubbles had convinced the crewmembers on site of her capabilities.
They felt extremely comfortable working with such a director, and their work was twice as efficient as when they were working with Director Wang
Nobody would ever dislike getting their work done earlier and with less effort, especially when it was done with a cute loli.
With that, the entire set was filled with renewed spirit as everything ran smoothly and in order.
During filming, the crew and actors wondered in their hearts. “This loli is too familiar with the entire script and the pace of the movie, right?’
It was as if she was the one who wrote the script and has been leading the shoot since day 1. She was able to seamlessly plan her work around Director Wang’s planned shooting schedule. If one didn’t know, one would think that she was the one that has been shooting the movie since they began work two days ago.
They began wondering. ‘Did the higher-ups already plan to replace Director Wang?’
‘But this movie only just started shooting yesterday. How were the higher-ups able to predict these events? If they predicted it beforehand, why not replace Director Wang earlier?’
However, they didn’t know that Su Yang was the culprit behind all these things. At that time, Su Yang returned to the set after going to the various departments to get to know the crew and used the (Memory Labyrinth Hourglass) to have a look at Director Wang’s memories. He not only confirmed that Director Wang’s resume was fake, but he also wanted to learn about his schedule for the next two days of filming.
After taking a look at his memories, Su Yang went to the bathroom, entered the virtual space, and made a list of the new cast and crew list for Little Hus to sniff.
The cast and crew remained unchanged and the only change was to replace Director Wang with Bubbles.
Although he knew that Director Wang was the black sheep, he didn’t know if changing the director would cause the movie to flop.
After all, there were a lot of bad movies with high box office sales just because the audience went to watch them to see how bad they were.
Because of this, he also had no idea if Director Wang could possibly make a bad movie that would eventually become a hit as well.
To be clear, he wasn’t here to punch people in the face. He was here to oversee the smooth shooting of the movie, make some money, and complete his Silver Mission!
Fortunately, Little Hus gave him a definitive answer. After the change from Director Wang to Bubbles, the project still had a little stench, but the aroma was now much stronger.
‘It seems that after the change of directors, the project’s performance would indeed be better!’
[With Little Hus’s affirmation, the system also prompted Su Yang with a random task. (Help Producer Zhao solve his problems in choosing a new director.]
Upon receiving this task, the last shred of doubt in Su Yang was dispelled. Since the system decided that Director Wang was the problem, he had to be replaced! With this in mind, he took out the (Video Tape To Make Up For Regrets), recorded the memories of Director Wang’s work on the set with the script and schedule before asking Bubbles to watch it.
[In normal terms, this was more than a day’s worth of memories, Bubbles wouldn’t be able to finish watching it within a short period of time. However, Su Yang still had a special item that had been sitting unused for a long time(Memory Master’s Special Wasabi Cookies]
Su Yang relied on this cookie and used a little more than ten hours to learn from basic English to grade 6 English.
In addition to that, this memory cookie could give people super memory, greatly enhancing the brain’s computing and learning abilities. One of Su Yang’s most impressive takeaway from it was speed reading. He could even watch English movies at 32 times the normal speed. With that, watching the recording of Director Wang’s memories was simply too easy.
He broke off a quarter of a cookie and gave it to Bubbles. Within 15 minutes, Bubbles learned about the script, actors, and the entire process of filming through Director Wang’s memory. She even managed to remember all those facts. After it was all done, Bubbles spat out one word with a disgusted face, “Garbage.”
It would seem that this impostor, Director Wang was really a piece of trash.
While Bubbles was studying, Su Yang also printed out a termination and prosecution agreement before stamping them with the company’s official seal.
That was what led to everything that developed subsequently...
At this point, Director Wang was completely dumbfounded. Although he was an impostor of a director, he had apprenticed under a professional director in the past. Although he wasn’t as good as a director, he still had the vision.
Seeing Bubbles displaying such a commanding aura while having such smooth control over the crew as she calmly explained the scenes to come, he knew in his heart that this little loli had real talent. It was the kind of talent that could only come from someone who had graduated from university in this particular field, shot several movies, TV shows, and had been practising for years!
‘But... She’s... She’s so young! Looks like she’s only 13 or 14!
‘Is she like Conan who never grows up and has over twenty years of casework experience at the age of six?
‘Is there really such a genius in this world? Is it true that I can’t even compete with a little girl?’
Just as he was thinking this, Su Yang suddenly spoke after standing next to him for some time. “Hey, what are you still doing on set? Can’t you see that you’re not even as good as a little girl?”
Director Wang opened his mouth, wanting to retort that this little girl wasn’t an ordinary little girl. She was clearly a professional director. However, the words in his mouth were swallowed by him once more. After all, he didn’t want to admit that the new director was awesome!
Not knowing how to say it at the moment, he wanted to come up with an answer that he could give without complimenting the other while still preserving his dignity
However, before he could think of one, Su Yang waved his hand. “Janet, send this guy out. Don’t let him be an eyesore on the set.”
As Su Yang said the word ‘send’, he emphasized the tone.
Janet understood Su Yang’s feelings as he came over. Like a hawk catching a chicken, he squeezed the neck of Director Wang, lifted him, and dragged him out of the set.
“Hey! Hey! Don’t touch me! I can walk by myself! If you touch me again, I’ll sue you!” Director Wang was pinned by the neck by Janet and felt extremely embarrassed as he screamed in desperation.
Su Yang laughed behind him and shouted toward him, “Director Wang, you’re welcome to go ahead and sue me. We’ll let the court judge who’s the one at fault here.”
Hearing Su Yang say this, Director Wang heart softened as he remembered he was a fraud...
However, Su Yang wasn’t going to let him off the hook and continued, “Right, Director Wang, I hope you’ll stay put after you return to the hotel. The crew’s lawyer will contact you soon, so if you want to make a big fuss of the whole situation, you should run away faster.”
Director Wang’s face stiffened. He felt that Su Yang was threatening him.
However, he suddenly had a thought and recalled Su Yang’s words that seemed to have a hidden meaning. ‘If you want to make a big fuss, then you should run away faster.’
Did that mean that there was still the possibility of not making a big fuss and settling privately?
The more Director Wang thought about it, the more he felt that he was right. After all, Su Yang’s words sounded too peculiar and didn’t sound like how someone would speak. It seemed to him that Su Yang was implying something
Thinking of this, he also decided that for the sake of his own career as a ‘director’, he should make concessions when he should. After all, where there is life, there is hope.
As long as he didn’t get sued and get his identity exposed, he could still earn back any amount of money he lost if he became a director in the future! At that time, there’d be tons of girls and tickets waiting for him!
Su Yang, who had already read Director Wang’s mind, shook his head slowly. This person is really hopeless, and has really fallen into his trap...
‘Does he think I’d let him go...’
