Chapter 657: Slam! Triggered Luck+?
As it turned out, Cao Qiguang and Zhao Licheng had a disagreement about the future direction of the company when Xinli Education was growing a few years ago.
Zhao Licheng based his judgment on the future development of the Internet and believed that Xinli Education should temporarily give up offline and focus on online education by using his funds to expand servers, lend money, and develop more outstanding teachers to teach online classes.
After that, he would use these outstanding teachers as a foundation to increase the influence of his company and its brand recognition.
In other words, in his plan, the main business of Xinli Education’s system would be online live streaming, which was to provide quality education to millions of netizens in the form of online lectures to balance educational resources.
And that would make Xinli Education a lightweight Internet company where apart from cash flow, brands and all data assets, there would be very few physical assets.
Cao Qiguang, on the other hand, thought differently from Zhao Licheng. He believed that Xinli Education should not develop in just one direction. Although the Internet was developing at a fast rate, it did not mean that having physical lectures was absolutely useless.
This was especially true when the physical industry was in a bad state. However, this was exactly why it was a business opportunity.
His idea was that Xinli Education should focus on offline lectures, opening branches across the country in two ways, regular branch and franchise, while online live stream was only to be a supplement to offline lectures.
In his plans, a branch of Xinli Education’s franchise could bring about a large amount of franchise fees and training fees to the company, plus it would expand the influence of Xinli Education online.
On the other hand, the regular branch of Xinli Education would directly purchase property in the city, mainly focused on reputation and quality education, providing education only to the elites. Then, its property would be the most valuable asset in the country and it could be further mortgaged so that Xinli Education could continue expanding.
Therefore, what Cao Qiguang wanted to do was to become an education training chain institution on a national level, inclining towards an asset heavy company.
In fact, there is no right or wrong in both of these directions, it was just a conflict of different management ideas.
This is like the life of a dog and a cat. On one hand, there’s the e-commerce platform with light assets, while the other was an e-commerce and logistics platform with heavy assets.
Both of these choices would end up developing in the other party’s direction In the future, but they both have a different starting point.
In the end, it was Zhao Licheng’s plan who triumphed, of course. After all, he was the biggest boss of the company.
In the next few years, Xinli Education that had been set for development started to flourish. It happened to catch up with the internet’s development, so it expanded rapidly. Especially after it got its hands on Tencent, it ended up with more and more users.
But now, after Zhao Licheng’s death, Cao Qiguang’s idea of establishing his own chain of education was born once again.
Hence, at that moment, his idea had matured. He wanted to use the accumulated fans online to support the offline lectures. He wanted to establish branch companies all over the country and conduct offline lectures.
On top of that, the 4 billion yuan capital in order to execute Cao Qiguang’s plan was to be obtained through their listing on IPO, which had just been approved by the board of directors a few days ago. Hence, it was officially launched.
‘To be honest, after listening to Zhao Licheng’s explanation, I feel that... There actually aren’t any problems with Cao Qiguang’s plans. In fact, it’s quite feasible.
‘However, since Zhao Licheng says that this plan would definitely fail, I can only choose to trust my five-star talent.
‘After all, I’ve always lived by a motto where professional matters should be left for professionals to handle.’
When Xinli Education’s system started to embark on a path of no return, Su Yang used [Space Traversing Eyes] to make a trip to Hong Kong.
The reason why he went to Hong Kong was mainly to collect “souls”.
The last time he travelled to Hong Kong, he had placed the [Burning Reincarnation Circus] at the hospital and just left it there. Hence, over the past month, he had been waiting for the circus to collect 10 souls so that he could return and recruit a stock trader.
However... For some reason, after such a long time had passed, there was absolutely no movement from the circus.
Now that the sniping battle for Xinli Education was about to begin, the stock trader had to be in position. Therefore, Su Yang decided to make a trip to Hong Kong personally to see if the circus had failed because of the distance.
As he exited from the dilapidated alley, Su Yang looked around. ‘No one’s noticed me.’
Then, he hailed a cab and headed to Hong Kong Hospital.
The alley was not far from the hospital. Hence, before long, the taxi arrived at Hong Kong Hospital.
Su Yang used the Octopus Card that he had applied for when he was at Hong Kong previously to foot the bill. Then, he got out of the car and looked up at the hospital that was built on the hill..
Perhaps because he was the master of the circus, he could see a large circus tent sitting at the top of the hospital, standing tall and glowing.
After that, Su Yang found a place to sit down and closed his eyes.
As he closed his eyes, his surroundings fell into darkness.
After a while, a path of light appeared in the darkness.
Su Yang came back to his senses and realized that he was standing on the light path in his soul form.
Following the path of light, Su Yang walked towards the circus.
The door of the circus was closed. Su Yang pushed the door open and eight lights lit up in the circus. A cold and emotionless voice sounded in Su Yang’s ears. [Unable to activate the recruitment for the Burning Reincarnation Circus because there aren’t nine souls available.]
Su Yang looked at the eight balls of flames. [Does this mean that there are eight people in there already?]
‘So, only one more person is required?
‘This is so slow...’
Su Yang still remembered the last time he recruited actors in Shanghai. In half a month, he managed to recruit nine souls. However, this time, it took more than a month. ‘Is there something that I’ve overlooked?’
However, since Su Yang has only recruited once, he did not have any case history to analyze, thus Su Yang could only keep this question in his heart.
After confirming the number of souls in the circus, Su Yang went to buy some specialties from Hong Kong and returned to Shanghai.
His schedule for that day was a little tight because... The cooldown timer for the [Lucky Disfiguring Brick] was almost up.
His lucky period of the month was finally coming again... Which was more punctual than a woman’s menstruation period...
The next day, Su Yang got up from his bed and looked at the [Lucky Disfiguring Brick] that he had placed at his bedside the night before. He noticed that the [Lucky Disfiguring Brick] was already glowing.
Su Yang, who was familiar with the [Lucky Disfiguring Brick], knew that it was time.
Of course, Su Yang would not spend this period which was only available once a month so simply. In fact, the reason why he had arrived home earlier the night before was exactly because he wanted to make his preparations.
Hence, after Su Yang got up from bed, he went to the bathroom to wash up, take a shower and washed his hands properly. Then, he returned to the bed and turned on the system to check his current assets.
[42 Random Items, 17 Little Monsters, 7 Bronze Abilities, 4 (+1) Silver Abilities, 2 Silver Points, 11 Bronze Points, 16 Random Points, 19 Guardian Talismans, 61,612 Coins]
After accumulating for nearly a month, Su Yang’s coins had once again exceeded the 60,000 mark. On the other hand, he still had two Silver Points because he had not upgraded the system yet.
‘I’ve now got 11 Bronze Points after buying it over the past two months. As for Random Points, I’ve got 16 of them which is slightly more. I suppose all of these are barely enough to use...
‘I would like to buy more, but the main problem here is I can’t.’
At that moment, the limit on Su Yang’s number of Points was not the amount of coins he had, but the purchase quota given by the system store.
‘This system is behaving worse and worse everyday.
‘In the past, when I only had a few hundred coins left, the system store would refresh 99 coins and 99 Bronze Points every day and all I could do then was stare and drool at those numbers.
‘In the end, when I now have an abundance of coins and can buy as much as I want, it’s actually gone and started to sell me just one or two Random Points and Bronze Points at a time.
‘I’m so p*ssed about this.’
After looking through his assets, Su Yang recalled the analysis he did on [Lucky Period] yesterday.
‘Let’s see... Special items, I’ve just obtained two of them through the system not too long ago, so I’m not in a rush to obtain more temporarily. So, I’m not planning to use this [Lucky Period] to add Random Points.
‘As for my Silver Points, since the system has not levelled up yet, there’s an upper limit to it and I can’t add any points for the time being.’
Therefore, he had planned for a long time the night before. After thinking about it, he decided to focus on drawing a Bronze Ability that month!
‘Bronze Abilities can be superimposed infinitely, allowing me to become more and more versatile, which is still very useful.
‘Furthermore, it’s been a long time since I’ve drawn a Bronze Ability. Other than the [Tank Driving Ability] that I’ve drawn a long time ago, I’ve never drawn a new Bronze Ability. So, this month is a good time for me to draw a few new ones.’
Furthermore, because of the painful experience of consecutively extracting multiple Bronze Abilities previously, Su Yang had already decided on the number of Bronze Abilities he would draw the night before. ‘I’ll draw two Bronze Abilities. I don’t want to force myself too much.’
In fact, he had even decided on what kind of Bronze Ability he wanted to draw...
After revisiting his preparations, Su Yang picked up the brick and swung it in front of his face. Then, with a “Bang!”, he slammed it on his face!
Su Yang, who had already smashed his face countless times, was getting used to it. Even though it still hurt a little, it was a piece of cake for him at that moment.
In fact, he even wiped his nose, but there was no blood.
‘It looks like... I didn’t slam myself hard enough this time.’
Suddenly, a notification popped up in front of Su Yang.
[Because you’ve slammed your face multiple times consecutively, you’ve triggered a Luck+ effect.]
Su Yang was stunned.
‘Luck+?
‘What the hell is this?’
Since he still had a lot of time left, Su Yang took the opportunity to click on the help system. He wanted to see what this so-called Luck+ was.
Then, a notification popped up in front of him.
[Luck+: Lucky Disfiguring Brick’s luck effect will be doubled.]
Su Yang blinked when he saw the effects for Luck+.
‘There was actually such a hidden setting?
‘Awesome!
‘If not for the fact that this brick did not have any more potential to add points for, I really felt like I should have points added onto it and make it +4!’
Just as Su Yang was letting his imagination run wild for more than 10 seconds, he suddenly had a feeling that he could not waste any more time.
Hence, Su Yang snapped back to his senses and realized that he still had his lucky period. ‘I’ve got no time to waste! Time to add points!’
