Chapter 316 An AI That Shocked The Nation And The All-Out Wager!
The owner of the (In) app’s company, Director Sun had been targeting the Find Me app for some time now.
In the beginning, the Find Me app was merely a startup in the industry so he didn’t pay much attention to it.
However, Zhao Xiao contacted him and promised that he would get the Find Me app for free, which was the catalyst which started their cooperation where their marketing department would launch a smear campaign on the Find Me app.
However, after the campaign had been going on for some time, Director Sun realized that Zhao Xiao hadn’t been in touch for far too long so he felt like something was off. After asking around, he finally learned of Zhao Xiao’s fate from Shanghai. That wasn’t all the information he got from asking around. He also learned that Su Yang likely had a powerful background as he had defeated several rich and powerful people in Shanghai.
This fact made Director Sun a little fearful, enough that he got the marketing department to stop their smear campaign on the Find Me app.
He was also worried that Su Yang would find out about him and retaliate against his attacks. This made Director Sun a little upset. In their country, nobody picked fights with people who had strong backgrounds.
As a person who managed to start such a large company, Director Sun had many decisions to make. After thinking for some time, he got his people to get him some information on Su Yang but the information he got was rather surprising. They briefly mentioned some information related to Su Yang in Young Master Jiang’s case but it was nothing specific.
Young Master Chen’s case, on the other hand, was completely due to his father’s enemies and had nothing to do with Su Yang.
Zhao Xiao’s death has nothing to do with Su Yang as well. He had some kind of beef with the security guard and was killed.
After learning of these things, Director Sun was extremely relieved.
It was then that he remembered that he had met Jiang Yan in the past and exchanged contact information with her. Just in case, he called Jiang Yan and confirmed Su Yang’s identity once more. This was also the image Su Yang once saw through (Heaven’s Eye) in the past. (Chapter 303)
After completely relieving himself of the worry he had regarding Su Yang’s identity, Director Sun thought it over and decided that since he had already begun his vendetta on the Find Me app, Su Yang would still be angry at him when he found out. With that in mind, he thought about it and decided that he might as well finish the job.
After all, the Find Me app was also his competitor so getting rid of it while it was still in its infancy wasn’t too bad of an idea.
As soon as this idea came to his mind, he took a look and saw the ‘100 Days of Stars’ event on the Find Me app.
The moment he laid his eyes on it, Director Sun knew that their campaign would launch the Find Me app to the high heavens. Even if they didn’t overtake the (In) app, they’d still definitely be among the top three in this industry.
With that in mind, he moved quickly. He called a meeting for his marketing department and planned a large-scale smear campaign for the Find Me app. They would do their best to cause chaos during the (100 Days of Stars) event as soon as possible.
That was the reason why there was overwhelming news regarding the Find Me app containing pornography in it.
After he had done so, Director Sun thought about how Su Yang would deal with the issue. However, he knew the difficulty of refuting rumours on the internet so he knew that no matter how Su Yang responded, cleaning up the Find Me app would be a behemoth of a task.
He temporarily dropped everything on his plate and got the technical department’s director on the line. Director Sun then ordered him to get everyone in their department who was idle to focus on any violations the Find Me app had.
A prize would be awarded to the person who managed to get some information regardless of who it was.
He wanted to see how much money Su Yang had to burn in this game they’re playing.
As for artificial intelligence, he didn’t believe in it at all.
For someone who was in the Internet industry, he had a lot of knowledge about the state of artificial intelligence domestically. AI is a huge field which had three parts to it. They were computational intelligence, perceptual intelligence, and cognitive intelligence.
The core of computational intelligence is was the chip which was dominated by companies such as Intel, Huawei, and other similar hardware companies.
The field of perceptual intelligence was more about machine vision and speech which was mainly dominated by companies such as Kuangchi and Haikang.
Cognitive intelligence, on the other hand, was the most difficult aspect of AI.
Cognitive intelligence was the most difficult and cutting edge portion of the Al field. It was the ultimate goal in AI and was dominated by companies like Microsoft, Google, Baidu, Tencent, and more.
All these companies were Fortune 500 companies!
The kind of AI Su Yang was trying to use to sieve through information was something that was in the realm of cutting-edge cognitive intelligence! Su Yang’s ability to get a high-performance AI chip was one matter. The amount of money he would have to spend on AI research would be astronomical, so much so that a small company wouldA never be able to afford it! Su Yang’s claim of his company having an AI system that had achieved cognitive intelligence was utter nonsense!
‘After all, if you’ve developed this kind of artificial intelligence, what’s the point of making a photo-sharing app if you can just go for driverless cars and big data?’
Director Sun was calling out Su Yang’s bluff, thinking that he only said such things to attempt to reverse whatever had happened to his company’s image.
As for the 10 million Su Yang offered, someone could find the content, send it, and delete the content.
If that was too
As for the 10 million... Someone can find the content and send it over. However, he could just delete the content involved.
If that didn’t work, he would just pretend that he didn’t see anyone claiming the prize or not allow them to claim the prize based on a technicality.
After all, regular people didn’t have that much power and wouldn’t harp on the issue.
On the internet, a person usually only had seven seconds of attention to give. Within a few days, it would’ve cooled down and nobody would remember the incident aside from the user and their friends who’d boycott the app.
By then, the Find Me app would be able to cleanse itself of the smear campaign launched against it.
In the future, it was even possible that users would see a 10 million bounty on any pornography on the app and think that the app must be fine to be able to afford such a sum.
In his opinion, Su Yang made the right move. It was just a pity that Su Yang had to bump into him!
Regular people had limited power but the [In] company had far greater powers.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that he wouldn’t miss!
The task he just gave to the technical department wasn’t just to manually go through their content, but to crawl through the data within the Find Me app to find the offending content.
Once it was discovered, it would be published all over the web! Then, they’d continue fanning the flames so this issue about the Find Me app would begin trending. By then, he’d either have to pay up or have his credibility completely tarnished.
‘At that time, the Find Me app would definitely go belly up!’
At least, that was what Director Sun thought as he drank his tea.
As he watched his enemies begin falling under his feet, he began feeling like he was getting closer to his goals.
As the Find Me app campaign continues to ferment, an increasing number of people would join the activity.
This was especially so since Su Yang only gave a 24-hour window for people to play his ‘game’, which made it particularly exciting for players.
Should he have set a dateline of a month to find the offending content, some participants might’ve put the event on the back burned as they went around their own business.
However, since it was only going to last for 24 hours, they had no choice!
Work mattered, but no matter how important it was, it definitely wouldn’t make them 10 million! Even if they got yelled at by their boss or manager, 10 million was well worth the scolding
Many bosses and managers had also gotten involved in the event, so there were far and few people in between who would care about what their employees were doing anyway.
After all, nobody would despise having too much money.
Was there really not a single piece of pornographic content on such a huge app?
A majority of people didn’t believe such a
thing.
This was just so sci-fi!
Even AI couldn’t complete a 100% check on the app, right?
On this day, a strange incident unfolded throughout the country.
Everyone in an office had their phones open with the Find Me app on it. They weren’t even taking a look at the content as they scrolled mindlessly through it.
Those on the subway and busses were looking at the app on the phones as well as they swiped endlessly.
In the restaurants, most were eating without even making a sound as they swiped through the contents on their phone.
As time went on, nobody seemed to be able to find a single piece of pornography on the app despite the campaign becoming so popular. Naturally, there were people who wanted to take shortcuts. They’d put up pornographic content and take a screenshot of it but they found that their messages wouldn’t go through at all. Even if the messages somehow got through, the system would automatically delete them, leaving no trace.
User
Some even suspected that the Find Me app was cheating by limiting the number of posts a user could make since they had no troubles posting photos or regular content.
The event was simply divine.
It even made its way onto Weibo, Baidu, Sogou and various search sites.
During the beginning of it all, the idea most people had in mind was to make money. However, after going through the app for an entire afternoon, they seemed to have realized that the Find Me ap might really be in possession of the world’s leading AI!
“Has a company in our country grown so rapidly?”
“Is another world-class company on the rise?” “This is too much!”
These hot topics were on the tip of everyone’s tongue during the heat of the campaign. 7 of the top 10 on the Weibo trending search terms were related to the Find Me app. Participants were sighing and venting on WeChat as well. On Baidu, the Find Me app was on the top of the search lists!
Downloads of the Find Me app were approaching 100 million a day! Countless people throughout the country were talking about the Find Me app.
Even some of the biggest companies in the country had set their sights on the Find Me app.
At this time, Su Yang was living in a rented house while holding a mobile phone made from the Unknown Sticky note while playing Honor of Kings.
All the furniture and objects in the virtual space were piled up in the living room and the little monsters were quietly sitting in the bedroom because they had been driven out by Little Deeny.
According to Little Deeny, she had underestimated the intensity of this event! There were so many posts now that she had to mobilize every single one of her core processors, memory cards and even her virtual memory to process the information coming for it. Even the virtual space wasn’t able to maintain itself.
If Su Yang had known that Director Sun suspected him of not having a chip, he would’ve replied, “My chip is from the system. I’m not using some kind of trash from the market.”
As things continued to develop, everyone was watching this public test of the Find Me app as people throughout the country participated in this stress test.
Time went by quickly and soon, there were only 12 hours left on the clock for the event hosted by the Find Me app. Then, the next day arrived.
With the influence of the (Three Days Without Sleep Halo, Su Yang felt so energetic that he hardly needed to sleep.
As he lay on the bed in the living room, he continued playing his game while keeping a close eye on the Lucky Disfiguring Brick.
When the clock struck zero, the cooldown of the Lucky Disfiguring Brick was finally over. The ordinary-looking brick now glowed with a layer of light.
