Chapter 721 - The Ugly Side Of Capitalists
‘Is this glass phone so popular?
‘No, the correct question should be, is the glass phone being thought of so highly by the upper echelons?
‘After all, to the people within the banking system, being valued by the upper echelons is much more important than being popular.’
Upon hearing Mr. Kong’s words, a big-bellied President could not help but ask, “Is there anything special about this?”
Mr. Kong raised the glass phone and showed it to the other presidents. “Do you see this? This glass phone is made of transparent glass. Plus, there are no electrical circuits, batteries or cameras to be seen.”
The other presidents could not help but question, “Isn’t that just a piece of glass?”
Mr. Kong obviously knew this glass phone very well, hence he said, “No, it’s not.
“See...” After he said that, Mr. Kong pressed his hand onto the glass phone screen. A moment later, a laser fingerprint icon appeared and a pop-up window popped up on the glass phone.
[Please verify your eye pattern]
Following his action, the other presidents also noticed the change in the glass phone. The “glass” had miraculously turned from transparent to opaque and the back had turned into the texture of frosted glass.
After recording Mr. Kong’s eye-pattern, the glass phone turned on. Then, Mr. Kong showed his glass phone to the other presidents. “See, this really is a full-screen glass phone. The whole glass phone feels like I’m just holding onto a piece of glass.”
The other presidents were like frogs in a well as they gradually became surprised and started studying the glass phone.
Then, Su Yang and Young Master Ying smiled at each other when they saw a room full of middle-aged uncles studying their glass phones like children.
Very soon, the few presidents finished studying their glass phones and could not wait to turn on their glass phones and experience it, all except the big-bellied president, who did not move.
Hence, Su Yang asked curiously, “Mr. Tang, why aren’t you trying out your glass phone? Don’t you like it?”
Mr. Tang chuckled and said, “No. I heard from Old Kong that many of the higher-ups love this glass phone. So, I’m thinking...”
Before he could finish, Su Yang understood what he was trying to do.
Then, when the other presidents heard that, they were stunned as well. After a while, a few of the less shrewd presidents revealed frustrated expressions. Obviously, they realized that they had not thought of this...
After distributing the glass phones, the meal ended.
After the big shots finished their discussion, the rest of the matters were left to their subordinates to handle.
On the way back, Su Yang gave Zhao Licheng a call and told him to personally make a trip the next day to resolve the matter. On the other end, Zhao Licheng seemed to have just finished exercising and was trying his best to calm his breathing as he acknowledged his orders.
The next day, Zhao Licheng went to the five banks to resolve all the procedures.
After that, Su Yang felt as if a huge burden had been lifted off his chest. ‘The most important part of emptying out Xinli Education is finally done.’
At the same time, Cao Qiguang started to take action as well by contacting some capitalists in Shanghai who were interested in the glass phone.
With the help of these capitalists, several large cellphone companies in the country soon found out about the existence of the glass phone.
Hence, all major cellphone companies placed great importance to this new era product that could topple the current mobile cellphone industry. The domestic companies within China that were prioritising this such as Huawei, VIV, OPP and so on had sent out a specialized team of professionals to Shanghai to understand more about this new glass phone.
Although their plan was solid, it was very difficult to execute.
This was because Su Yang only gave these glass phones to people close to him. Most of the people close to him were ordinary people, thus they were literally the most inconspicuous bunch of people in a city with tens of millions of people in Shanghai. Therefore, unless someone knew about their information, there was no way to be able to find out who these people are.
On the other hand, only Master Ying and Jiang Yan’s families were the renowned people who had this glass phone.
No matter how arrogant the capitalists were, they knew who the owner of this country was, hence they did not dare to plot anything against them.
Therefore, the progress of these capitalists had reached a stalemate. Despite knowing who the target is, they could not afford to offend them. Thus, since they could not get what they wanted, they could not research it either.
In fact, there were a few capitalists who were interested in the glass phone who actually tried to contact Su Yang with the intention of investing in his company.
However, who was Su Yang?
He was the big shot with a system!
Even a powerful force like the Jiangs could only manage to obtain a few shares by collaborating with him. In fact, the thought of working with these other capitalists did not even cross Su Yang’s mind.
After all, he had money, resources and power. Why would he cooperate with others then?
Therefore, the number of capitalists Su Yang was rejecting kept on increasing.
However, because these capitalists did not want to give up on the chance, they stayed in Shanghai and waited for the chance.
While they were thinking about how to get a share of the pie, some people in the industry told them that there was an organization that wanted to overthrow Su Yang, so they could consider joining.
As a result, more and more capitalists became inexplicably drawn into Cao Qiguang’s roster, participating in the plan to overthrow Su Yang’s reign.
However, this organization had a core issue since the very beginning, which was... Cao Qiguang himself.
Cao Qiguang had been feeling a little frustrated lately because he had realized that something had been wrong with him for the past half a month.
He had been building his business for so many years and had no other hobbies. He did not smoke, drink, gamble, or even do drugs. Instead, he only liked beautiful women.
Actually, beauty was something everyone loved, so there were not many men who did not like beautiful women. However, Cao Qiguang was different. He did not simply just like them, he even wanted to sleep with them.
To be honest, he was a bit similar to a certain artist who had been criticized to no end not long ago for a particular “fetish” of his.
Actually, this fetish of Cao Qiguang’s was not exactly that serious. After all, there would not be any issue so long as it did not get exposed. Hence, Cao Qiguang had been indulging in this bad habit of his for many years.
Therefore, over the last half a month, he realized that his “issue” had worsened. He used to have a relapse once a day, but at that moment, he desperately wished that he would be able to indulge in his vices at every given moment.
Hence, this caused his temper to become more and more irritable. After all, humans would always be in a bad mood whenever they can’t be satisfied.
At first, Cao Qiguang did not think much of it. However, he gradually realized that something was wrong because he was slowly losing the ability to have an erection.
At first, he would still be able to have an erection if he put in a lot of effort. However, as time passed, it became harder and harder, until recently, he was unable to get it up anymore!
Hence, Cao Qiguang felt as if his penis was wailing that it could no longer take it anymore.
There was no single man in the world who would not be bothered about this, so Cao Qiguang was completely flustered.
Hence, he secretly went to the hospital, found a specialist doctor and did all kinds of tests. However... The cause of it remained unknown.
After researching for half a day, the specialist ruled out the possibility of it being a physical issue and naturally attributed the problem to being something wrong with Cao Qiguang psychologically.
At that moment, Cao Qiguang really wanted to curse at everyone.
‘Something’s wrong with me psychologically?’
He was so frustrated that he wished he could find someone on the street and sleep with them immediately! ‘How could there possibly be something wrong with me?’
Thus, Cao Qiguang refused to trust the doctor. However, he could not find the reason himself either. Furthermore, this issue he had was the most sensitive issue for a man, so there was no one he could not share it with. Thus, his temper became worse as time went by!
However, when people realized that they could not achieve their goals through self-deprecation, they would usually put the blame on external factors.
Cao Qiguang was no exception.
Cao Qiguang, who was originally a conceited person to begin with, would never admit that he himself was the cause. In fact, he believed that even if he had made a mistake, it was definitely caused by someone else.
For example... Su Yang!
He suspected that Su Yang was the reason why he could not get an erection.
Because of Su Yang’s interference, he was unable to get the 1.6 billion from Zhao Licheng’s wife. It was also because of Su Yang that he was unable to have the person who had beaten him up tried by the law. It was also because of Su Yang that he felt a sense of danger and insecurity when he made the glass phone that transcended its time.
‘Didn’t the doctor say it’s a psychological problem?
‘The only person who has been causing me issues mentally is Su Yang.’.
Sometimes, fate was very interesting. Despite the process being mistaken, the miraculous thing was that the result that they would arrive at would actually be correct.
After Cao Qiguang analyzed a bunch of bullsh*t reasons, he found the culprit to be Su Yang. Well, you could say that Cao Qiguang had actually gotten it right by sheer luck.
Hence, in the end, Cao Qiguang deemed that Su Yang was the root of his problem. Therefore, he wanted to get enough benefits from Su Yang so that he would be able to relieve his mental stress and regain his masculinity!
With that thought in mind, he called his secretary over to give Su Yang a call. He wanted to ask Su Yang out for a meal to resolve his psychological issues.
When Su Yang received the call, he was discussing with Zhao Licheng about Xinli Education.
Over the past few days, more and more investors have come to look for Su Yang and Zhao Licheng. All of them wanted to be a part of the glass phone, which made Su Yang feel wary.
Hence, Su Yang called Jiang Yan and Young Master Ying to understand the situation.
It was only then that he realized that the news about the glass phone had spread very quickly. In just a few days, most of the forces and capitalists in the country had been paying attention to the matter.
Many people could sense that this was going to be a revolution in the cellphone and technology industry. Hence, they had begun gathering information in Shanghai.
Because Su Yang was difficult to talk to, plus he had rejected too many people. These people even formed a loose organization, preparing to overthrow Su Yang’s control over the company.
Young Master Ying’s network was indeed wide because he knew about these rumors very clearly. However, this was also because Cao Qiguang’s organization was not private about it, making it very easy for news to spread.
After knowing about this, Su Yang decided to activate his Silver Ability, [Space Traversing Eyes].
Previously, because Su Yang was famous, his name was often mentioned, so he blocked off his ability from activating whenever strangers mentioned him.
However, since this issue has risen, Su Yang definitely had to understand more about the situation.
As expected, once the restrictions were removed, Su Yang would receive a pop-up window of him being mentioned.
Many of them were people who were using Su Yang’s glass phone technology.
From their conversation, Su Yang found out that the founder of the organization was... Cao Qiguang. He even found out that Cao Qiguang said that he had someone backing him up.
Therefore, after receiving the call from Secretary Cao Qiguang, Su Yang agreed without any hesitation. He wanted to see what Cao Qiguang was up to and wanted to know what tricks he had up his sleeve, plus who was backing him up.
As for how Su Yang would find out about all these... [Memory Labyrinth Hourglass].
That night, Pan Zhaodi drove Su Yang to the restaurant Cao Qiguang had booked.
Compared to Young Master Ying’s restaurant, Cao Qiguang’s reservation was much more grandiose. It was a famous restaurant in Shanghai named Lan Ting. It was a two-star Michelin restaurant, which was a middle-tier restaurant which was difficult to book even if a person had made a booking earlier.
After the car was parked, Su Yang brought Pan Zhaodi along as they walked into the restaurant.
At the entrance, an innocent-looking girl stood there waiting.
When she saw Su Yang coming in, she took the initiative to greet him and asked, “May I know if you are Mr. Su?”
Su Yang nodded.
The girl said, “I’m Mr. Cao’s personal assistant, allow me to guide you there.”
Su Yang’s gaze lingered on her for a moment. He felt that there was something dubious about her introduction of herself. ‘I wonder if I’ve misunderstood...’
Under the lead of the female assistant, the two of them arrived at a private room.
When the private room’s door opened, Cao Qiguang was already waiting inside.
Even though both Cao Qiguang and Young Master Ying were waiting for their guest, Young Master Ying and the others had made Su Yang feel very comfortable and respected. However, Cao Qiguang gave off an air of superiority. Even though Su Yang had yet to arrive, he had already ordered a few dishes and was drinking while eating.
Hence, a trace of disgust flashed across Su Yang’s eyes.
‘Honestly, I really don’t understand how Cao Qiguang is able to be so arrogant. Could it be possible that this is what a person would become when they successfully become a capitalist?
‘First, they will claim that being able to work 12 hours a day, 6 days a week is a blessing.
‘Then, they will say that the employer will never retrench a single employee. Also, the employees who work just to pass the time aren’t good employees.
‘Finally, they will forbid employees from working overtime, but the truth is they’ve already worked overtime beforehand. On top of that, they would not allow the employees to claim for overtime payment after a certain amount of hours.
‘What an utterly nonsensical system.
‘This high-and-mighty attitude employers have, who take their subordinates for granted, is truly irksome.’
At that thought, Su Yang suppressed his discomfort and sat opposite Cao Qiguang.
At the time, Cao Qiguang was taking a sip of wine before putting down his glass. Then, he looked up at Su Yang and waved his chopsticks at his assistant.
The assistant then said to Pan Zhaodi, “This way, please. We’re in another private room.”
Pan Zhaodi looked at Su Yang, who nodded slightly.
After receiving Su Yang’s approval, Pan Zhaodi and the female assistant left the private room. When they left, the door was closed from the outside.
After that, Su Yang took out his hourglass from his pocket and played with it. ‘Should I look at Cao Qiguang’s memories first, or should I chat with him first.’
Just then, Cao Qiguang spoke, “Su Yang, am I right?
“I’ve looked into your background. You’re 19 years old, you’ve come to Shanghai alone and have survived until now.” As he said that, he shook his head. “Not an easy feat.”
Su Yang looked at him, not knowing what he wanted to say.
Cao Qiguang then said, “I should be around the same age as your father, so I’ll call you Little Su. Is that alright?”
Despite it being obvious that Cao Qiguang was asking a question, his tone did not match his words at all. Obviously, he was used to making all the arrangements according to his liking.
However, Su Yang was not his subordinate and was not used to his bad habits. Hence he said straightforwardly, “I’m sorry, but you’re asking too much. In my hometown, only those with higher moral character and age can be considered to be another person’s senior.”
