Chapter 800 - World-Class Researchers
‘The Clown Sea Serpent?
‘A surprise?
‘I find it really hard to link those two words together.’
At the thought of the Clown Sea Serpent, Su Yang could only think of... A frightening surprise.
‘The little monsters who would give me a huge headache are the Clown Sea Serpent and Little Hus. Well, Little Hus is the better of the two because it just likes to pull pranks, which isn’t a big problem. However, the Clown Sea Serpent would... Really murder people... Often.’
At that thought, Su Yang asked Little Deeny, “Did he say what the surprise is?”
Little Deeny shook her head. “No, Master. However, he did request for me to unlock access for him. It seems like he wants to transport something into the virtual space.”
‘He wants to transport something?’
Su Yang pondered for a moment and could not imagine what kind of surprise the Clown Sea Serpent was planning to deliver. ‘Could it be a gift?’
Since he could not guess it himself, Su Yang could only say, “Alright, allow the Clown Sea Serpent to have access then.”
“Okay.”
As Little Deeny agreed, Su Yang heard the Clown Sea Serpent’s voice. “Master, I have a surprise for you.”
Su Yang asked, “What surprise?”
The Clown Sea Serpent said obsequiously, “Researchers.”
“Scientific researcher?” Su Yang was shocked. He turned around and left Spirit Building’s room. Then, he asked, “Where did you get these researchers?”
The Clown Sea Serpent chuckled. “I just destroyed the lair of a Central Asian secret organization in Jordan. Meanwhile, I captured a group of researchers.”
Su Yang was shocked again. “Even secret organizations have researchers now?”
“They are a very famous secret organization in Central Asia and have been researching nuclear weapons and viral weapons. I attacked them when they were least expecting it,” explained the Clown Sea Serpent.
After hearing the Clown Sea Serpent’s explanation, Su Yang no longer had any doubts. He quickly said, “Alright, I’ll be there right away. Wait for me.”
Su Yang took out his phone and clicked on the location the Clown Sea Serpent was at before he went over.
When he reached the Clown Sea Serpent, Su Yang realized that he was in a spacious and dark room.
The room was covered with an exquisite red wool carpet. There were expensive oil paintings hanging on the wall, but the style of the paintings was weird and black.
The overall color of the room was red and black, and it gave one the creeps.
However, it just so happened that the Clown Sea Serpent liked it, so Su Yang could not say anything.
When the Clown Sea Serpent saw Su Yang, he bowed slightly.
Su Yang sized him up and realized that he was covered in bandages. There were traces of blood on the bandages as well. It was obvious that it was not easy for him to deal with the secret organization.
Based on this, Su Yang had a certain understanding of the combat power of this extremist group.
Su Yang patted his shoulder and comforted him. “Good work.”
The Clown Sea Serpent and Old Pei had been around long enough for the former to learn Old Pei’s mantra. Hence, he chuckled and said. “For the people.”
Su Yang was speechless.
‘Fine, I’m one of the people, so there’s nothing wrong there.’
After that, the Clown Sea Serpent placed Su Yang on the chair and turned around to take a stack of documents from the table before passing it to the latter. “Master, this is the information of this batch of researchers.
“I’ve done some research myself, most of them here are scientists majoring in biology and chemistry, which is just what we need.
“Furthermore, amongst the 56 researchers here, most of them are associate researchers, and some of them are either researchers or senior researchers. In fact, even the director of the research institute is a famous scientist.”
Su Yang was surprised. “A famous scientist? Who is it?”
The Clown Sea Serpent pointed to the resume at the top. “Martha, the ‘Madam Toxic Charcoal’.”
“Who?” Su Yang was confused. ‘I’ve never heard of this name before.’
The Clown Sea Serpent patiently explained, “Martha is the daughter of the leader of the Iraqi’s National Reconstruction Association. She first studied at the Texas Woman’s University in Denton, America and obtained a master’s degree in biology. Later, she continued her studies at the University of Missouri and obtained a doctorate in microbiology. So, she is one of the few senior female scientists in Central Asia.
“After she graduated, she rejected the offer from many universities in America and returned to China. She became the head of the Biology Department at Baghdad University in Iraq. She also became the only female member of the highest decision-making organization there. She was mainly responsible for weaponizing viruses like charcoal poisoning and smallpox.
“Then, in May of ’03, when Iraq was defeated, Martha was arrested by America and held in custody secretly until December of’ 13. After regaining her freedom, she returned to the Middle East and settled in Jordan.
Listening to the Clown Sea Serpent’s explanation, Su Yang read through the resume in a few more lines. Then, he was a little surprised. “Why would she join this secret organization with such an impressive resume?”
The Clown Sea Serpent smiled. “Because of faith, perhaps?”
After that, the Clown Sea Serpent explained the unique religious practices of Central Asia to Su Yang. Only then did Su Yang understand how passionate and unreasonable the people there were...
As Su Yang listened to the Clown Sea Serpent’s explanation, he flipped through the documents in his hands. The more he flipped through, the more excited he felt.
‘It’s just as what he said, these talents have their own fields and abilities, and they’re exactly what I need. With these talents, we could start researching the beings on Socot Island, including the glass screens and Lightning Batteries, which could be researched and gradually improved.
‘This is the best gift!’
At the thought of this, Su Yang could not hide the joy in his heart. He patted the Clown Sea Serpent’s shoulder again and praised, “Good job, you’ve done well!”
A smile appeared on the Clown Sea Serpent’s face. “It is my duty to share my master’s burdens, especially since it is only a matter of convenience.”
[Eye Of Origins] judged it as. [Modest...]
Su Yang did not believe him at all. Previously, Su Yang did not know where the secret research institute was. However, after listening to the Clown Sea Serpent’s explanation, Su Yang knew the exact location of the research institute. It was thousands of miles away from Yemen. ‘How much of a convenience would it have been for the Clown Sea Serpent to deal with it?
‘So this is the legendary saying of when there’s a will, there’s a way?’
Although Su Yang understood the loyalty of the Clown Sea Serpent, he did not say it out loud. Instead, he only remembered it in his heart.
Following that, Su Yang went to meet the researchers under the guidance of the Clown Sea Serpent. Although they were still in shock, they were extremely enthusiastic as they shook hands with Su Yang and promised that they would complete the tasks given by Su Yang.
Their behaviour actually surprised Su Yang.
He had thought that since these people had been kidnapped, they would definitely be agitated and dissatisfied with him.
After all, from his perspective, scientists at this level should be very proud. Furthermore, the Clown Sea Serpent had said that Central Asia was a special place. People were passionate and did not fear death. So, they should not be so passionate because they were afraid of death, right?
At the thought of this, Su Yang “consoled” the researchers and secretly asked the Clown Sea Serpent, “Why are they all so enthusiastic?”
The Clown Sea Serpent smiled evilly and said, “Master, it’s all thanks to my education.
“Actually, a few days after you said you needed researchers, I attacked the extremist group’s base.
“But I did not tell you because they were not well-educated, so I kept the information under wraps.”
Su Yang asked curiously, “How did you educate them?”
The Clown Sea Serpent coughed. “You wouldn’t want to know.”
Su Yang was speechless as he had a rough guess.
Even though he did not explain, the Clown Sea Serpent still added, “Master, these people are all trusted confidants. I plan to have Sister Little Deeny build a research institute in the virtual space and have them enter it to start their research.”
Su Yang nodded. “Sure. Little Deeny and I will make the arrangements.”
After saying that, Su Yang seemed to have thought of something. He looked at the Clown Sea Serpent and asked curiously, “By the way, why don’t I see Madam Toxic Charcoal among the researchers?”
At this point, he thought about it and added, “Also, I don’t even see a middle-aged man. Are they all young people?”
The Clown Sea Serpent nodded, then coughed. “That’s because they’re all dead.”
Su Yang was shocked. “Dead?”
The Clown Sea Serpent’s eyes flickered. “Yes. They volunteered to die to become little monsters that they would never betray us.”
[Eye of Origins] judged it as. [Lying]
Su Yang was speechless.
From how secretive the Clown Sea Serpent was and Su Yang’s understanding of him, Su Yang could roughly guess what had happened. The Clown Sea Serpent probably thought that these people were more important and would become part of the core members. So, in order to prevent them from being disloyal, he killed them and turned them into little monsters.
In that case, now that they were already little monsters, and Su Yang was the only person in the entire world who controlled them. It was equivalent to them choosing their own irreversible lineup.
Furthermore, they would be resurrected through the circus, which meant that they were under Su Yang’s control. Therefore, even if they were unwilling, they would have no choice but to work for Su Yang.
‘I must say... The Clown Sea Serpent’s thought process is really filled with ambition and ruthlessness.
‘As long as he could achieve his goal, he doesn’t care what method he uses.’
Su Yang took a deep look at the Clown Sea Serpent but did not expose him.
Then, Su Yang made all the researchers swear that they were willing to work at Su Yang’s company. Then, he brought their resumes back to the virtual space.
Arriving at the virtual space, Su Yang got Little Deeny to give the Clown Sea Serpent the authority to transport all sorts of equipment and equipment.
Soon after, Su Yang opened the virtual space interface and looked at the [Black Technology Research Center]. When Su Yang looked at the building, it was a fully-equipped research center-style building.
Therefore, if it was possible, Su Yang wanted to redeem it. That way, he would be able to get it done in one go and he would not have to build it anymore.
However, it was a pity that Su Yang was shocked when he saw the price of the building. ‘399,999 coins?!’
The value of 400,000 yuan immediately dispelled Su Yang’s thoughts. ‘Fine, I’ll let Little Deeny build a few houses.
‘Or... I could use [Half-Descent]? Let them stay in rooms built in the real world?
At that thought, Su Yang’s eyes lit up. He felt that he could give it a try.
At night.
Su Yang passed through the room on the third floor and arrived at the office of the President of Jiadian Group.
Beside him was Little Deeny, who was holding a notebook.
The two of them left the CEO’s office. As they walked, they chatted. “Little Deeny, which floor do you think we should use [Descent] on?”
Little Deeny looked at the notebook in his hand and said, “Master, I think it’s best to descend the top floor into the virtual space. We can open a door on the top floor, and the door will connect to the outside of the virtual space.
“This way, they can stay inside and study. If they want to come out to do research, they can come out from the top floor.
Su Yang imagined the entire scene and felt that he could give it a try.
Then, Su Yang summoned the system and chose the virtual space.
Instantly, an option popped up in front of him:
[Please select the method to descend in the virtual space.]
[All], [Scenery], [Partial]
Of course, Su Yang chose [Partial] without hesitation.
Instantly, a three-dimensional map of both worlds appeared before him.
Su Yang adjusted the two diagrams and overlapped the top floor of the headquarters with a space on the virtual space mountain. Then, he clicked [Confirm].
Suddenly, a notification appeared before him.
[Are you sure you want to descend this part to reality? The price to do so is 26,000 coins.]
This time, there was more space involved in the descent, so he had to use more coins. However, it was still within Su Yang’s acceptable range.
Therefore, even though his heart ached, he still paid the price without hesitation.
[Confirm]
As Su Yang confirmed, the overlapping parts of the two 3D diagrams turned red. At the same time, he heard the system’s notification. [Descent successful.]
Even though the virtual space had already descended, Su Yang did not notice any changes because he was in his company.
Hence, he and Little Deeny returned to the virtual space and exited the castle.
Suddenly, he saw a dome-shaped building not far away.
When Little Deeny brought Su Yang in, they realized that it was indeed the top floor of the Jiadian Group’s headquarters.
Next, Su Yang started to make slight adjustments to the functions of the Jiadian Group. He first set up the highest clearance for the 10th and 11th floors of all the elevators. Only Su Yang and those who were authorized by him could reach the 10th floor.
Then, he omitted the stairs on the ninth and tenth floors, turning them into a wall.
Just like that, under Su Yang’s control, the headquarters of the Jiadian Group became a building that was both real and virtual at the same time. The lower ten floors were in the real world, and the top two floors were connected to the virtual world. The two were clearly in the same building, but they were in two completely different spaces.
After Su Yang added some points to the Jiadian Group’s headquarters, it had the ability to change all kinds of rooms and decorate it freely. Therefore, they believed that the researchers would be able to build this place into their testing ground and dormitory very soon.
After everything was settled, Su Yang sent a message to the Clown Sea Serpent, asking him to transport the people and equipment to the virtual space.
Very soon, all the researchers and equipment had entered the lab.
With the help of the Clown Sea Serpent’s little monsters, they would soon adapt to life in the virtual space.
Thus, another week passed.
During this week, the [Burning Reincarnation Circus] was full again. Hence, Su Yang summoned it back and started to revive the researchers who were killed by the Clown Sea Serpent.
Meanwhile, “Legend of Wu Zetian” began to spread like wildfire.
Mango TV and Sky Blue TV had gone all-out, ready to hit it big...
