Chapter 832 - The Movie’s Pre-Sales Has Increased By A Hundred Times
When the promotional trailer for “Wandering Planet” was released, many netizens who had been waiting in front of their computers and phones, people in the entertainment industry, including the fat man, who was far away in the Imperial Capital and was interested in “Wandering Planet”, immediately clicked on the promotional trailer.
The promotional trailer was as simple and direct as ever. There was nothing fancy about it. From the first frame onwards, it was filled with a tragic and heroic narration.
“Calling the highest mobilization of the coalition government. Calling the highest mobilization of the coalition government.
“This is an announcement to the global war force... Due to Jupiter’s gravity, 4,777 thrusters have malfunctioned...
“In order to avoid collisions between Earth and Jupiter, all personnel are to depart according to emergency plan 3. Make sure to restart all the malfunctioning engines within 36 hours...
“This rescue mission concerns the life and death of 3.5 billion people. The priority of the target is above all else.
“Regardless of the price!
“I repeat! Regardless of the price!”
Accompanied by a foreign accent, Su Yang led the protagonist team out of the snowmobiles in protective clothing. In front of them was a blizzard. Under the blizzard was a city that was frozen by ice and snow where every building and every road was covered by it...
The scene then changed to the thousands of snowmobiles with the main character and his snowmobile in the center. Together, they drove off into the distance. In front of him was the frozen earth and the overcast sky. However, the headlights of each of their vehicles were connected so closely that it seemed like a star that could set a prairie ablaze...
The scene then changed again. It was a glacier that had split open a canyon. The glacier canyon was bottomless. Occasionally, a huge piece of shattered ice would fall off the glacier and smash into the bottom of the canyon. The snowmobile... Was speeding through the bottom of the canyon...
The camera slowly pulled upward from the snowmobile, all the way out of Earth. Beyond Earth was a huge Earth space station, leading the way in front of the Earth. Beyond that was Jupiter, which was far larger than the Earth and the space station combined...
The camera pulled back from Jupiter and started to move toward the interlocking space station. It slowly zoomed in. Every part of the space station was clearly visible, and there were no flaws in the details. Even the interlocking motion seemed to have an indescribable elegance. The camera moved deeper and deeper, showing every detail of the space station to the audience bit by bit. It was pulled to one of the windows of the space station...
There was a black shadow inside the window. Wu Feng was wearing a spacesuit. He stood at the window and looked at the distant Earth with a determined gaze...
The screen darkened, and finally, the words “Wandering Planet” appeared on the screen.
At the end, there was a line of words at the bottom of the title: Special Effects Produced By Jiadian Pictures.
The whole promotional trailer lasted about two minutes, which was considered the longest promotional trailer in several of the other trailers for “Wandering Planet”, but... Most of the audience only realized this when they saw up to that point. ‘Oh... It’s just a trailer.’
After that, their second reaction was... ‘You mean to tell me that that was actually a f*cking trailer?!
‘Where’s the movie?
‘I want to watch it!
‘Can you hurry up and release the actual movie!?’
Sometimes, strength could really crush everything in this world.
When the special effects promotional trailer for “Wandering Planet” was released, the entire internet and entertainment industry blew up.
After all, one could see so much through a little tube. This special promotional trailer had revealed too many things, including the frozen city that was so realistic that every frame was perfect. The perfect trajectory, the perfect special effects, the navigator space station that seemed to be so real in outer space...
Too much content revealed could shock and entice a person’s taste.
If “Wandering Planet” only focused on one special effect, then people might question whether the essence of the movie was in those two minutes.
However, “Wandering Planet” had selected many special effects clips, and it had changed to at least seven or eight different scenes. This was practically a blatant show-off that was trying to make a statement that if they played more special effects clips, they could beat the other movies.
The special effect of the explosion was so dazzling that it blinded everyone’s eyes.
Therefore, for a moment, the comments online took a 180-degree turn. Previously, they were all doubting “Wandering Planet”, but now, they are all blowing up!
Coupled with the “Introduction that had a lot of effort placed in it” from the previous promotional trailer, it created a high-class “persona” for “Wandering Planet”. A professional team spent many years, hundreds of millions of yuan, and tonnes of effort to create a domestically produced sci-fi movie about saving the world.
With this sentiment, thanks to the effect of the promotional trailers, the pre-sales ticketing room for “Wandering Planet” began to surge. One million, two million, five million, ten million, fifty million...
In just one day, the pre-sales ticketing room for “Wandering Planet” had skyrocketed to a hundred times its original amount, reaching over 100 million yuan.
If it were not for the fact that there were still people who were suspicious and had a wait-and-see mindset, they would have had a cumulative advantage over “The Mermaid” after a few days of pre-sales.
While the internet was abuzz, the film industry was also in an uproar. As professionals, the people in the industry had a more mature understanding of movies.
In order to create a special effect blockbuster, it did not depend on the director or actors, but on the entire technical chain and industry chain. Over the years, it was not that everyone had not worked hard, it was not that they had not tried to make a domestic special effect blockbuster, but because of money, technology, and many other reasons, they could not make it.
As a result, most movies only had what they would call 50 cents worth of special effects.
It was commonly known that if they wanted to make a good special effects movie, they had to go to Europe and America since China... Not only did it have incomparable quality, the cost of having it done was much higher than what Europe and America would charge for..
This was a preemptive advantage for Western industries. Because of their global lead, movie-goers from all over the world came to them to make the movie, causing their cost to be lowered and giving them a greater competitive advantage. They could invest more money to develop the technology.
The special effects companies in China had to buy various software licenses and spend a lot of money to learn this technique, so their cost was higher than in Western countries, but their technology was still not as good as in foreign countries, so no one was willing to hire them for special effects. This made them even more poor, and they could not research and develop the special effects department.
This was a negative feedback loop.
On the other hand, the special effects technology displayed by “Wandering Planet” was comparable to that of Europe and America and Hollywood.
‘How... How did he do that?
‘Could it be that they are a special effects company within the country that has been fully-developed?’
Other than those who were shocked by the special effects, some people were thinking about something else. Based on the information that “Wandering Planet” had revealed, this was a movie whose story was about “the end of the world”. ‘There were no materials that could be filmed directly in the real world. Coupled with the special effects shown... Could every frame of “Wandering Planet” be done through special effects?
‘This...
‘Could it be possible?
‘That’s just too scary!
‘They’re literally burning money!
‘It’s only because Su Yang is a rich man. Otherwise, no one could’ve been able to bear burning through all that money.
‘Who could compete with such a movie that’s built purely from money?
‘Could the entire New Year’s slot be wiped out by this movie?’
At that moment, in the general manager’s office of the animation company in the Imperial Capital.
With a phone in his hand, the Little Comparer was completely stunned.
Due to his special focus, as soon as the promotion clip was released, he received a notification. So, he also saw the new promotion clip.
In the end... He watched the promotional trailer with his mouth wide open, never closing it once.
After watching the promotional trailer, there was only one thought in his mind. ‘Holy sh*t, is that even possible?’
Then, he turned back to look again, and he cursed internally.
He felt like there was nothing he could say to express his shock, except for “holy sh*t”.
‘Besides... Is this movie really something a domestic company can produce?
‘Based on the quality of the special effects, the authenticity, and the texture of the details, it’s enough to show how awesome this movie was.’
The Little Comparer had never thought that there would be a day when such a movie would appear.
‘This... Shouldn’t this be done by me?
‘Shouldn’t I be the one to save the mess domestic movie’s piled up?’
The Little Comparer, who had always thought highly of himself, scratched his head with a headache. After a while, he said, “Forget it. Anyway, it’s a good thing. It’s better to have someone charge and break through the enemy lines together than to work alone.”
At that moment, he thought of the “Iron Three” in the film industry in recent years: Xu Zheng, Huang Bo, and Ning Hao. These people had been working together in the film industry because of their similar interests. They supported each other and developed better and better. In a short time, all three of them had become influential figures in the domestic film industry!
‘Could I actually learn from them and contact the people in charge of “Wandering Planet”?
‘Should I see if I can enter that industry and work together?
‘After all, it’s everyone’s hope to save domestically-produced movies.
‘We should get along very well, right?’
At that thought, the fat man stood up and locked the office door. He ignored Xiao Jia, who was knocking on the door and shouting, “Boss! Boss! Have you seen the promotional trailer?” Then, he called a friend of his...
Three days later, Shanghai, Jiadian headquarters building.
The Little Comparer was carrying a backpack, and he was greeted by a smiling Guo Fan.
Arriving at the Jiadian Group, the Little Comparer was smiling from ear to ear, but the arrogance in his heart did not diminish. This was because he had brought his own “work” that day, and he wanted to have an interaction with Guo Fan with it!
After more than a year of working together, the Little Comparer’s animated film company had finally decided on the plan for their first work... “Nezha, The Devilish Boy” from the “Investiture Of Gods Project”.
Of course, this was just the code name for the internal project. The actual movie name would only be decided until after the reviewing.
And, in order to pull in investments and boost the confidence of the company’s people, the Little Comparer also led his teams to come up with an exciting plot in this animated film ahead of time, which could be considered to be a demo.
It was also because of this demo’s excellence that the Little Comparer was confident in himself.
He believed that this animated film that he was making would definitely be one of the best in the country! It even had the potential to crush all the live-action movies and reach the top of the historical box office!
Besides, this was an entire series of movies!
Once the first movie exploded, the results of the next few movies would not be bad either!
Then, he would really be able to use this series to reverse the situation of the domestic animated film industry and even leave his name in the history of the entire Chinese film industry!
Therefore, even though he had the intention of asking for guidance, he was still arrogant.
Compared to competing against each other, Guo Fan was much more easygoing. He had long heard about the Little Comparer from his good friend. He knew that the latter was a very ambitious, very capable, and an idealistic animated film actor.
Therefore, when he saw the Little Comparer, although he could see the arrogance in the latter’s heart, Guo Fan still smiled and reached out his hand to express his goodwill. “You are the Little Comparer, aren’t you?”
The Little Comparer looked at Guo Fan. He seemed to have seen a similar aura from Guo Fan, so he immediately guessed Guo Fan’s identity. “Are you Director Guo?”
Guo Fan nodded. “Yes.”
The Little Comparer reached out and shook Guo Fan’s hand.
Guo Fan was amused by the Little Comparer’s arrogant behavior, but he did not mind and led the Little Comparer into the headquarters building. “Come, let’s talk inside.”
The Little Comparer was too far away from Su Yang, and he could not get in touch with him at all. Furthermore, he had always thought that Su Yang was just an investor and did not know much about movies. Hence, he had come for Guo Fan from the start.
Following Guo Fan into the Jiadian headquarters’s building, they got into the elevator and arrived at the third-floor Jiadian Pictures.
The elevator opened, and Nanako looked around curiously. She realized that it was different from what she had imagined. All the employees of Jiadian Pictures were working in a large office area. The atmosphere was relaxed, and everyone had a computer. From time to time, laughter could be heard.
As Guo Fan led the crew inside, he introduced, “This is Jiadian Pictures that Mr. Su established. It mainly deals with movie investments and special effects production, so Jiadian Pictures has two departments.”
“What we’re looking at now is the special effects department. The investment and production departments are upstairs.”
As the boss of the company, Zizi knew a little about the company’s operations. He asked, “Aren’t we working together?”
Guo Fan shook his head. “No. It’s actually a new department. They’re mainly responsible for the headquarters. They’re more like a group of smart ‘financial talents’. They’re quite different from the emotional ‘technicians’ here. There’s almost no collaboration between the departments, so they just split up.”
Then, he added, “In my opinion, Boss Zhao probably has plans to separate the special effects department and start a special effects company.”
The agent asked curiously, “Director Zhao?”
Guo Fan explained casually, “He’s the CEO of the corporation. He’s the person in charge of the corporation’s matters.”
the Little Comparer nodded and politely stopped asking.
The two of them walked to the theater of Jiadian Pictures. The equipment had already been adjusted. Guo Fan led the contestants in and said, “I know that even though it’s called an exchange, you mainly want to see how “Wandering Planet” is doing. Therefore, I’ve already applied to the company to let you try it in advance.”
“But...” Guo Fan paused and said seriously,” We have to sign a confidentiality agreement. After you finish watching it, you cannot reveal anything about the movie. ”
The Little Comparer, who had expected this, nodded quickly. “Okay.”
After a while, the agreement was signed. The Little Comparer put down his bag in satisfaction, rubbed his hands, and looked at the big screen expectantly, preparing to wait for the movie to start.
He was really curious about how the movie “Wandering Planet” was going. ‘Is it really as godly as the promotional trailers...’
Guo Fan did not waste any more time. He closed the door to the theater and started to play the movie...
At the same time, Su Yang had something to attend to at the office, so he drove over to the headquarters of Jiadian Group...
