Chapter 816 - A Note
‘The attack on the Central Asian base was very sudden and there were almost no signs of it going to happen. Otherwise, with the Clown Sea Serpent’s experience, there’s no way he wouldn’t have made preparations beforehand the moment he caught onto something.
‘So, this means that even the Clown Sea Serpent didn’t expect this enemy to suddenly attack them.’
At that thought, Su Yang had a headache.
He never thought that he was the smartest person in the world. Instead, he believed that everyone had their own strengths. Compared to him, the Clown Sea Serpent was more knowledgeable about schemes and conspiracies. In the end, even he did not expect this attack, causing Su Yang to feel that it was going to be extremely difficult for him to find clues...
Especially now that the base had been destroyed and there were not many documents left, Su Yang had no way of investigating.
This led to the current situation in Central Asia, where Su Yang’s enemy was within the shadows, while he was out in the open.
Therefore, Su Yang felt that he should postpone his development in Central Asia since the enemy was in the unknown and he had just lost a capable officer..
Of course, this was only temporary, but he still had to do what he had to do. He could not abandon the forces that the Clown Sea Serpent had left for him in Central Asia.
Therefore, after summarizing the situation, Su Yang decided to let Old Pei return to Central Asia. He would secretly contact the Clown Sea Serpent’s men and search for clues about the enemy.
Other than that, be it the collection of resources or the infiltration to other countries, all the work that would expose them to the public was temporarily suspended. They would wait for the Clown Sea Serpent to recover before making further plans.
This plan could be summarized with one word, retreat.
However, this also brought about a problem. The Central Asian base had always been the fortress where Su Yang collected materials for the glass phones. Among all the raw materials used, the Central Asian base would collect 70% of the total.
Right now, the Central Asian base was postponing all surface works. This meant that the raw materials would be out of stock, and the production of Jiadian Mobile’s glass phones would decrease by 70%, which was unacceptable for Su Yang...
Therefore, after thinking about it for a long time, he called Old Pei, Little Deeny, and Zhao Licheng to the study on the second floor and held a small meeting. The content of the meeting was about how they were to maintain the production of glass phones if the development in Central Asia was delayed.
Actually, Su Yang was not interested in the money. However, even if there was danger, he still had to produce the glass phones. After all, these glass phones had become Su Yang’s most important source of coins and the number of people influenced.
If he wanted to upgrade the system, improve his ability, strengthen himself, and draw Prize Vouchers, Su Yang had to produce glass phones continuously.
There was no other way.
Then, the meeting started, and the little monsters expressed their opinions on the question.
What Little Deeny meant was that, for safety’s sake, Old Pei had to hide in the dark, but that did not mean that he could not collect resources. Since Old Pei wanted to maintain contact with the Clown Sea Serpent’s men, he could ask them to continue helping Old Pei collect these resources.
Old Pei, on the other hand, had a different opinion. He felt that as long as he collected resources, there would definitely be a trail of evidence left behind. So, if the enemy had the intention to gather information, they would very quickly find the location of the warehouse. Then, if there was another sudden attack, the little monsters in Central Asia might be severely injured.
Furthermore, he did not agree to maintain his connection with the Yemen big shots because he did not know how the Clown Sea Serpent brainwashed them, nor did he know how they interacted.
Hence, if he interfered rashly, it might be counterproductive. It might even cause interference for when the Clown Sea Serpent woke up and reconnected with them.
Su Yang fell into silence.
‘The Clown Sea Serpent is the only one who did what he did at the Central Asian base.
‘Due to my trust in him and my lack of interest in matters from the darker side of business, neither I nor the little monsters have interfered.
‘Now that the Clown Sea Serpent is in trouble, none of the others seem to know how he had controlled the big shots in Yemen or how they even communicated with each other.
‘This is indeed a big problem for me to regain control over Yemen.’
The three of them discussed for a while, but there was no conclusion drawn.
When Su Yang realized that he could not reach a conclusion with Little Deeny and Old Pei, he turned to Zhao Licheng. “Old Zhao, do you have any ideas?”
Zhao Licheng seemed to have been waiting for Su Yang’s question. Without any hesitation, he said, “Mr. Su, I didn’t agree to develop a Central Asian base in the first place. From the start, I felt that it wasn’t the right path, but a burden.”
Su Yang raised his hand, signaling him to stop talking about this matter. After all, this was a base built by the Clown Sea Serpent, and he even managed to control a small country. Furthermore, when the Clown Sea Serpent was executing this plan, he had asked Su Yang for his opinion, and Su Yang had agreed to it.
Seeing that Su Yang did not want to talk about this topic, Zhao Licheng stopped himself. Instead, he told Su Yang about his idea of increasing the glass phone’s production rate. “Mr. Su, actually, I feel that your way of thinking is wrong. Just like what I said earlier, we don’t have to care too much about the Central Asian base because we have a bigger base... China.”
Su Yang had a flash of inspiration.
Zhao Licheng explained, “I remember you told me before that the Jiangs had conveyed the country’s intentions. The country will draw the line for the production materials that our company needs and arrange a corresponding production company for us.
“After this matter was mentioned, it was never brought up again.
“I’m guessing this is partly because the related departments’ process is too complicated, so they did not finish it.
“On the other hand, it’s probably because the Wangs had suppressed this matter, and the higher-ups felt that there was no victor between us and the Wangs, so they could not interfere and did not force the issue.
“But now that we’ve won, we can also remind the country to fulfill this promise.
“In that case, won’t we be able to solve the problem of our production materials?”
Su Yang’s eyes lit up when he heard Zhao Licheng’s words. ‘That’s right! I’m not fighting alone. I have the country as my backing!
‘No wonder Zhao Licheng felt that there’s no need to care about a small Central Asian base. After all, even if all the countries in Central Asia were united, they would only be equivalent to a province in China.
‘Compared to our country’s 9.6 million square kilometers, Central Asia is too small a place with too little resources.’
For the sake of Central Asia, Su Yang would rather fight for the benefits that the country had promised him. Then, he could produce as many glass phones as he wanted.
As for Central Asian Base, he could deal with it after the Clown Sea Serpent woke up. ‘There’s no need to rush this.’
At that thought, Su Yang patted Zhao Licheng’s shoulder with a smile and praised him. “Sure. I think you’re right, Old Zhao. I’ll talk to Jiang Yan later and see when they can fulfill their promise.”
After the small meeting, Su Yang completely dispelled the worries in his heart.
After the meeting ended, Old Pei returned to Central Asia under Shark Two’s protection. He transferred everything back to the virtual space and decided to temporarily withdraw from Central Asia and wait for the Clown Sea Serpent to awaken.
On the other hand, Su Yang gave Jiang Yan a call and asked about the benefits that the country promised him.
The call went through, and Jiang Yan’s cold voice came from the other end. “Hmm?”
Jiang Yan knew that it was Su Yang.
Su Yang was already used to Jiang Yan’s coldness. He said nonchalantly, “Young Master Jiang, I remember you telling me that the country will help me gather materials. I wonder how that’s progressing right now.”
Hearing Su Yang’s words, Jiang Yan said calmly, “I would’ve come to you even if you hadn’t called me today. A few days ago, the city came to look for me. They said that they have already found a dozen related companies for you. These companies have the backing of state-owned enterprises, and you can get your men to contact them directly. Then, you can discuss the price yourself and let the market decide.”
When Su Yang asked about the controlled materials, Jiang Yan replied indifferently and said they were all settled.
Su Yang was relieved. As expected, with the country as his backing, everything would become simple. After all, compared to the resources of the country, individual ability was too limited.
For the next few days, Su Yang was busy with the national docking. As the person in charge of the receiving, Su Yang naturally excluded his most trusted subordinate to do one round. With Zhao Licheng’s help, there was nothing unusual about the dozen or so companies. All of them negotiated, and the price was much lower than the market price. However, the cost of a glass phone had risen to about 30%, which was 2,500 yuan.
However, no matter how much he spent, at least he did not need to use some coins to supplement his expenses, which was a good thing for his upbringing. After all, he had a lot of money now, but he did not have many coins.
As for Central Asia, Old Pei followed Su Yang’s wishes and returned there. He followed the few clues left behind by the Clown Sea Serpent and gradually connected with the people in Central Asia.
However, even during the receiving process, he had been on high alert. After all, no one knew if there was a mole that led to the sudden attack on the Clown Sea Serpent.
While they were doing the receiving, Old Pei was also secretly trying to find out the truth behind the Clown Sea Serpent’s attack. He wanted to find out more about his opponent from these people.
Just when Su Yang’s career was in turmoil, and things were calm and peaceful, Qu Xuan and his little wife were being very loving of each other.
It was the weekend that day, so as a happy local child, Qu Xuan returned to his home and secretly called Xue Ya from his room.
“I bought three movie tickets for tonight.”
“It’s just the two of us, so why did you buy three movie tickets? Are you trying to be a playboy again?”
“Are you silly? One’s for my dad, one’s for my mom, and one’s for my sister. That way, my house would be empty tonight.”
“And then?”
“Then, you can come to my place, and I’ll cook for you.”
“Are you going to cook for me, or eat me...”
Qu Xuan smiled wickedly. “How about I cook you some instant noodles? That way, you won’t have to choose, right?”
Xue Ya was so amused that her face turned red and was too embarrassed to say it. “Hmph, you can eat all you want, that’s so salty that it isn’t tasty at all.” With that, she hung up.
As a student, of course, she would stay at school during the weekend, so it was no exception that day. After breakfast, she went to the education block with her best friend. To answer her boyfriend’s call just now, she found an excuse to go to the toilet and left her best friend behind.
After hanging up, her blood pressure patted her burning face. She then stood up shyly and opened the door to return to the classroom.
As soon as she opened the door and walked out of her cubicle, she realized that her best friend, Guo Xiaoying, was staring at her with a strange expression.
Xue Ya knew how controlling her best friend was. Even when she was with Qu Xuan, she had never dared to tell Guo Xiaoying about her relationship with him. Even his contact information, which was obtained last year, was all thanks to Su Yang.
Therefore, when she thought about how her best friend had found out about her relationship, Xue Ya’s face paled, and her heart raced.
She looked at Guo Xiaoying who was standing at the door and stammered.
Fortunately, Guo Xiaoying didn’t seem to have heard her conversation with Qu Xuan. Instead, she just glared at her and said, “Why were you in there for so long? I was so worried about you. I thought you fell into the toilet.”
Hearing her best friend’s words, Xue Ya felt like a rock had been lifted from her heart. He smiled and said, “Aiyah, I just had diarrhea just now. But I’m better now, aren’t I?”
Guo Xiaoying rolled her eyes at him and walked over to him. She held his hand and said thoughtfully, “Humph, you need to take care of yourself.”
Xue Ya laughed. “Oh, I just wanted to eat something nicer.”
Undoubtedly, this was her way of being coy. It was her way of looking at Guo Xiaoying with a kind of tender affection, who then replied, “Alright then, what would you like to eat? I’ll buy it for you.”
Xue Ya sharply noticed that there was something wrong with Guo Xiaoying. Hence, she looked at her best friend curiously. “Xiaoying, are you alright?”
Guo Xiaoying shook her head. “You’re thinking too much. Let’s go back and study.”
After knowing Guo Xiaoying for so many years, Xue Ya was familiar with her personality. She knew that Guo Xiaoying was a girl whose emotions were clear, and would say whatever she wanted to say. Hence, when she said that to Xue Ya, the latter took it as a misunderstanding and played along with it.
Then the two girls walked to the classroom together. They talked and laughed as if nothing had happened. However, Xue Ya did not notice that Guo Xiaoying’s eyes were filled with love and concern. Her eyes were turning red.
Five minutes ago, while Xue Ya and Qu Xuan were busy chatting lovingly on the phone, Guo Xiaoying was in the classroom doing her homework.
It had been two minutes since Guo Xiaoying last saw Xue Ya, plus the former didn’t even lift her head throughout those two minutes. “Can you lend me your advanced algebra notes?” After asking this question without receiving a reply, Guo Xiaoying finally looked up towards the counter and realized that Xue Ya had gone to the toilet. The person who didn’t have any notes didn’t look at the door of the classroom. Instead, she looked at the time and said. “It’s been 15 minutes already, why hasn’t she come back?” Puzzled, Guo Xiaoying turned to look at Xue Ya’s notes. The two of them were so familiar with each other that they didn’t need to greet each other anymore. Therefore, Guo Xiaoying didn’t notice anything wrong with her behavior. Then, just as she was rummaging in Xue Ya’s bag, a note slowly fell onto the ground.
