Director Wang looked at Chu Hong. “What can’t I sacrifice? I’ve been ruined by Su Yang! If I can drag him or that movie down with me, I’m willing to make any sacrifices!”
Chu Hong smiled. “We’re both victims here, so I’ll definitely help you.”
She paused and rubbed her legs before she said, “It’s actually very simple. Since the reputation of this movie can no longer be stopped, we can now destroy it. We can create rumors online saying that this movie has plagiarized other movies and spread it among the public. That way, the public will think that it’s really at fault for plagiarism and stay away from it. I’m a manager, so I’m very adept with these tactics.”
Director Wang looked at Chu Hong in surprise. “But it won’t be easy to accuse the movie of committing plagiarism.”
Chu Hong looked at Director Wang with a faint smile. “That’s why I need you. You’re the original director. You just need to stand up at the right time and say that when you were discussing the movie with the producer...”
The footage stopped there. Su Yang sat on the spot with a dark, unmoving expression.
He was already in a bad mood because of the silver quest, and now his mood had spiralled down in a pit filled with darkness...
He took the virtual interface and called Mr. Jia.
“I’ll send you the personal information on these 2 later. I want their reputation ruined.”
“Okay, make your request. I’ll get the person responsible for the promotion to contact and fully cooperate with you.”
“Okay, I understand. I only have one objective, to ruin their reputation and completely remove them from the industry.”
“Okay, I believe you. I want to see it being effective within a week.”
After hanging up the call with Mr. Jia, Su Yang gave Li Zijun a call and gave her Mr. Jia’s contact number. He also authorized her to use the company’s resources to pummel Director Wang and Chu Hong to the ground.
Li Zijun was a little worried. “Mr. Su, there shouldn’t be a problem in dealing with Director Wang. As for Chu Hong... She still has her connections, it would seem to be a rather difficult task.”
Su Yang replied, “We’ll proceed according to Mr. Jia’s instructions for now. If things get out of hand, I’ll sort it out then.”
Su Yang hung up the phone and slammed the virtual screen on the table!
He was really angry. Recently, he had been so distracted by the movie that he had forgotten to deal with these two. He did not expect the two of them to be so persistent in making his life miserable and come after him like rabid dogs.
‘Now that it’s come to this... don’t blame me for ruining your reputation.
‘However, I’m someone with class now, so it wouldn’t look good for me if the big boss of a corporation had to get his hands dirty to deal with 2 small fries.’
Therefore, he arranged for Mr. Jia to execute the plan. Li Zijun mobilized the company’s resources to cooperate. He wanted to see if the two of them could help him solve his problem without having to even lift a finger.
Actually, he had his own considerations. ‘In the future, there would still be many people who overestimate themselves and will challenge me. However, I can’t afford to deal with each and every overconfident small fry everyday. Therefore, I need to have someone in the company to be in charge of these matters so that these small fries get what they deserve.’
Just as Su Yang was thinking about this, a green tick appeared before his production process.
Su Yang stood up and walked to the pressure cooker. He then pressed the [Off] button.
What was different from that pressure cooker compared to the ones in the real world was that this pressure cooker seemed to have been released from all the pressure within it. Steam suddenly spurted out from the bottom of the pressure cooker. The steam that initially came out was rushed and violent before it gradually calmed down.
Su Yang took a deep breath and opened the lid. The fragment of the Little Monster Bean had disappeared, but the pork shoulder was cooked.
‘Can I eat it now...?
‘H*ck, can I proceed to the next step now?’
Su Yang followed the steps in the video and placed the remaining items into the pressure cooker. Then, he filled the pressure cooker with water, closed the lid and pressed [On] again.
After pressing the button, there was no need for Su Yang to do the rest since the pork shoulder would be ready in an hour.
Therefore, the process this time was very simple. Other than the time requirement, there was no difficulty.
‘Based on my analysis, there’re a few ways that this item would turn out.
‘Firstly, the item that would be made had nothing to do with the recipe. For example, the [Unknown Sticky Note].
‘The second would be to create something similar to the recipe. For example, [The Masked Guitar Master’s Second Hand Guitar].
‘Thirdly, the production process was simple, but it required time. For example, the unfinished perfume from last time and the pork shoulder this time.
However, I still feel that there might be some possibilities that he I’m still not aware of...
There was still an hour left, hence Su Yang returned to the sofa and opened the webpage to read the news.
In the end, he accidentally saw the reviews for his movie whilst reading through the news.
‘The movie,”Fighting The Buddha” is a typical movie that earns a lot of money through a small investment. The entire movie only had 5 million yuan invested in it, but the box office has exceeded 5 million yuan per day. It only took them 1 day to break even their cost.’
‘This is the result of the investment company, the producer and the director working together. Without either one of them, this legendary movie could not have been born.’
‘Hang on? Is this a fake reviewer hired by my company?
‘How could they spew out such insincere praises...
‘Of course, aside from the insincerity, I still don’t think this is a fake reviewer.
‘The majority of the audience would rather read the reviews of the movie itself than looking at market analysis or statistics. So, there’s no need to spend money in doing this, I’m sure Li Zijun isn’t that stupid.’
Therefore, he clicked on the author and saw that it was posted by a well-known public account in the film industry.
Su Yang understood that his movie had attracted the attention of the industry.
After reading the news, Su Yang started to search for other reviews and comments about the movie.
In the end, he realized that perhaps because the movie was so popular, the attention on his movie had increased tremendously. Many websites and public accounts started to analyze and recommend his movie.
‘The special effects in “Fighting The Buddha” is absolutely top-notch as an online movie. It can even crush a handful of middle-budget movies in the cinema.’
”’Fighting The Buddha” has such beautiful pictures, so much that many of the scenes used seemed like a landscape painting. It’s just so beautiful.’
‘Even if this movie were to go up against all the domestic online movies, “Fighting The Buddha” would still be the best.’
‘If I had to choose the best movie this summer, I would definitely choose “Fighting The Buddha”. Of course, I’ve included the cinema movies in my choice list as well.’
Su Yang’s face turned red when he saw the praises and comments. ‘My company has definitely... spent money for this.
‘Otherwise, how is the media able to come out with such nonsense!
‘If I didn’t know my own capabilities, I would probably have believed them.
‘They’re on the verge of making me blow up on the news!’
After Su Yang finished reading the article, he wanted to read the comments. However, he did not expect that many of the comments below were ‘fake’!
‘I’ve watched this movie. This is definitely the best movie of the year.’
‘The special effects are awesome!’
‘Lin Cong and Chen Min are my childhood memories!’
‘I seem to recall that Chen Min is the Sun Wukong in my memories. As for Mr. Liu... Right, can I not receive a lawyer’s letter please?’
‘I strongly recommend watching this movie! You won’t regret watching it!’
Su Yang browsed through all the comments and realized that most of the comments were positive. There were so many comments that it was as if the entire country had seen the movie.
Su Yang closed the webpage happily and returned to his WeChat. He wanted to see if there were any posts about the movie.
However, he found... nothing.
There were no updates on his WeChat, no one was discussing “Fighting The Buddha”.
The Internet and “reality” were like two complete polar opposites, everything was the opposite of what the other was.
Just by looking at the internet, one would think that the “Fighting The Buddha’ had already become popular all over the country and everyone had seen it. However, the cold reality in his WeChat Moments seemed to tell him otherwise.
Su Yang almost could not tell if he was in two different worlds.
However, he soon shook his head with a smile after knowing that he had been “scammed” by Big Data.
Big Data accurately pinpointed his interest in “Fighting The Buddha”, so it sent all the information related to “Fighting The Buddha” to him.
This meant that no matter which website he was on, all he saw were articles related to “Fighting The Buddha”.
However, “Fighting The Buddha” was not actually that popular and the silence on his WeChat was the best evidence to prove it .
‘Big Data, Artificial Intelligence. Are they really a positive influence for human lives, or is it the opposite?’
Su Yang started to ponder.
‘Could artificial intelligences like Little Deeny not be the same as how people in the real world are being “deceived”?’
Just as Su Yang was deep in thought, the last step of creating the recipe item in front of him lit up with a green tick.
A notification from the system popped up following the green tick, [Item production completed. Please submit the produced item.]
‘It’s finally done!’
Su Yang stopped his thoughts and turned to look at the pressure cooker on the dining table. It was already steaming in hot gas.
Su Yang walked over and pressed the “Off” button. He released the steam and turned on the rice cooker. There was a pork shoulder that looked, smelled and tasted good inside.
‘Smells... delicious.’
Su Yang pressed the ‘submit’ button.
Three notifications popped up in front of him:
[Incomplete Materials detected]
[More precious materials detected.]
[The special item will receive additional abilities, talents or more unknown changes. Are you sure you want to submit?]
Su Yang, who was experienced, clicked ‘Confirm’ without hesitation.
Instantly, the pork shoulder, the pressure cooker and all the items on the table instantly disappeared into thin air.
Su Yang did not have to wait for long. A moment later, a huge pork shoulder appeared in the air and fell onto the dining table...
Su Yang looked at the pork shoulder in front of him. This looks different from the pork shoulder that I bought. This one looks more similar to the pork shoulder that you would see in an anime which is long and big.’
The meat on the pork shoulder wass layered with its skin on. The layers look very distinct and... greasy.
There was a big bone in the middle of the pork shoulder. The end of the bone even looked like it had two heads which felt very cartoonish.
‘What is this thing?
‘Can I eat it?’
Su Yang stared at the pork shoulder before him. Then, he slowly retreated to the sofa and waited patiently for the system interface to appear.
After about ten minutes, the interface of the pork shoulder in front of him finally popped up.
