‘A famous figure?
‘The senior who looked like a passerby?’
Xue Ya took the phone in confusion and realized that it was the school’s forum on the screen. There were many posts talking about Su Yang in the forum.
After Xue Ya scanned through the posts, only 1 word could be seen on her face behind the glasses, unbelievable...
It was no wonder that she could not believe it. It was because there was only 1 conclusion throughout the entire post, Su Yang was the most amazing person among his peers in the first year.
‘He sang well and became famous after playing on the guitar of a wandering singer. Plus, his voice was full of vicissitudes.
‘Furthermore, his grades were good and he ranked in the top three in every subject. His memory was also superb, so much that he could recite movies and dramas in English and other foreign languages well.
‘Apart from that, he established his first company during the second half of the year and it blew up immediately as he helped thousands of students in the school to find suitable part-time jobs which increased their income. The reputation of the company even spreaded to 2 neighbouring schools, affecting more students.
‘At the end of the semester, he opened a technology company and developed a social app. As a result, millions of users registered to the app and the artificial intelligence that he developed was recognized by the country.
‘During the holidays, he established a film company and made an online movie. At that moment, the box office was close to 40 million yuan and he was about to break the record for online movies. He was going to become the most popular online movie in history.
‘Not only was Su Yang successful in his career and also academically, he was also surrounded by beauties. The pretty secretary from his class, Chuxia, had a close relationship with him. Xu Lu, a third-year senior in the art college was also close with him. Furthermore, he was in close relationship with the famous actress, Han Yi and a very pretty C-rank celebrity, Lin JIali.
‘Also, according to an anonymous insider, his secretary is also an extremely beautiful woman and is very good at fighting.”
‘In summary, he’s a person who has risen from the bottom and achieving success at a young age with beautiful women revolving around him.
‘It’s also because of this that many girls in the school listed him as one of the highest ranking guys in the school and are all revolving around him, hoping to be together with him.’
Xue Ya was shocked after reading it. She looked at Little Ying. “This... this is the ordinary looking senior who looks like a passerby?”
Guo Xiaoying swallowed and nodded. “I never would’ve thought that he is such a famous person... all of this sounds so unbelievable.”
As she said that, she blinked her big eyes. “Could he have paid for the posts on Tieba...”
Xue Ya put down the phone and rolled her eyes at Guo Xiaoying. She could not be bothered to answer this silly question. Instead, she directly said, “If that’s the case, that senior seems to be pretty good. If he really likes you, you could give it a go.”
Guo Xiaoying’s eyes lit up as she seemed to absorb every single word that had been said.
Xue Ya shook her head and continued to unpack her luggage. She had a quiet personality and didn’t like to be together with famous people. Her ideal kind of love life was where she and her lover quietly read together. On the other hand, famous people seemed to be right up Guo Xiaoying’s alley.
‘If that passerby is really able to treat Guo Xiaoying well, I will sincerely support their relationship...’
As that was happening, Su Yang had returned to the virtual space and was lying on the sofa, thinking about how he should interact with Guo Xiaoying.
Suddenly, a notification popped up before his eyes, [Affinity +1]
‘What? How did I gain +1 for Affinity?’
Just as he was thinking about that, a few more notifications appeared before him.
[Affinity +1]
[Affinity +1]
Su Yang was shocked when he received [Affinity +1] 3 times in a row.
‘I’ve only unlocked Guo Xiaoying’s [Affinity], so there’s no doubt whose [Affinity] has increased..
‘But that’s strange. I haven’t done anything, so how did her [Affinity] increase?’
Su Yang took out his [Unrestricted Driver’s License] from his pocket and flipped it open. As expected, Guo Xiaoying’s favorability increased from +6 to +9.
Su Yang was even more confused.
‘Did this girl think about it for a long time and realize that I was decent? Hence her [Affinity] for me increased?
‘Isn’t her reaction too slow already? Could she be a turtle?
‘Then, should I make use of this momentum and continue talking to her?’
Su Yang hesitated for a moment before sending a message to Guo Xiaoying. ‘What are you doing?’
[Affinity -1]
Su Yang was confused.
‘I’m used to Guo Xiaoying’s constant fluctuation in favorability. However, I’m not sure if it’s applicable only to Guo Xiaoying or everyone else.
‘But, that’s fine. I could treat this as an experiment...’
Guo Xiaoying replied after five minutes, ‘Send me some gift money please.’
Su Yang was speechless.
‘Why does this WeChat message look like a scam?’
However, at the thought of Guo Xiaoying’s mischievous and youthful appearance, Su Yang couldn’t bring it upon himself to call her a liar.
‘Could Guo Xiaoying be a... gold digger? A scumbag?
Su Yang felt that this girl was full of contradictions. However, when he thought of the 1.3 billion yuan project from Guo Xiaoying, he hesitated for a long time. In the end, he decided to give her a gift money of 8.88 yuan. ‘This sacrifice is nothing for the greater good!’
[Affinity -1]
Su Yang was dumbfounded.
‘-1 again!
‘I’m convinced now!
‘Guo Xiaoying’s [Affinity] is behaving too strangely!
‘I gave you gift money as you requested, yet you’ve actually lowered your [Affinity]?!
‘Could you be complaining that the amount is too little?’
However, Su Yang took a look at the chat history. ‘Guo Xiaoying hasn’t received the gift money at all, she couldn’t have found out how much money is in there. So, what’s the reason?’
Moments later, the gift money was received.
[Affinity -1]
Su Yang was speechless.
‘I shouldn’t have talked to her. I’ve managed to have 3 points of [Affinity] deducted because I spoke to her. However, I’ve managed to gain 3 points from not talking to her instead.
‘This person must be crazy!’
Just as he was about to go insane, Guo Xiaoying sent him a WeChat message. ‘Thank you boss! I’m so happy!’
Su Yang chuckled. ‘I really can’t tell how happy you are right now!’
He was really too curious about this weird change, so after suppressing it for a long time, he still asked directly, ‘Do you really like my gift money?’
A moment later, Guo Xiaoying replied, ‘Of course I do. I’m a gold digger after all.’
Su Yang was speechless.
‘Would someone really call themselves a gold digger?
‘Not only is she not ashamed, she’s actually proud of it?
‘Is there something wrong with this woman’s morals?’
Initially, Su Yang thought that Guo Xiaoying’s [Affinity] would continue to drop after he sent that text message. However, something unexpected happened.
[Affinity +1]
Su Yang was speechless.
Then, Guo Xiaoying sent a WeChat message. ‘What’s wrong with being a gold digger? All of the girls nowadays are gold diggers.’
Su Yang seemed to have figured out the pattern for Guo Xiaoying’s [Affinity]. He replied, ‘This is a problem caused by social values. Although many people are doing this now, it doesn’t mean that it’s the right thing to do.’
Guo Xiaoying replied, ‘What a straight arrow.’
[Affinity +1]
Looking at the [Affinity +1] notification, Su Yang finally understood.
‘After analyzing the situation, there are only two possibilities.
‘First, Guo Xiaoying likes to talk nonsense. Although she claims that she’s a gold digger, she isn’t like that at all. In fact, she despises all gold diggers.
‘Second, she’s a complete masochist! She won’t be happy if I play along with her. On the contrary, criticising her and scolding her makes her excited instead.
‘Whichever it is, she’s... abnormal.’
Xue Ya tidied up her bed and started unpacking Guo Xiaoying’s luggage. They had known each other for so many years and had gotten used to each other. Guo Xiaoying was always the one protecting Xue Ya, but Xue Ya was always the one taking care of her.
Xue Ya glanced at Guo Xiaoying as she made the bed for her. The latter was sending text messages excitedly.
Xue Ya adjusted her glasses and asked, “Texting the passerby senior?”
Guo Xiaoying nodded happily.
Then he showed Xue Ya his phone with a look of disgust. “Look, this person is so dumb. He just gives out gift money casually. Is he stupid? Does he have no brains?”
Xue Ya took a look at the chat history. ‘Guo Xiaoying asked Su Yang for gift money and Su Yang gave it to her.’
She clicked on the red packet and opened it to find 8.88 yuan inside.
Guo Xiaoying heard the red packet open and took a look at it. The disdain on her face deepened. “8.88? Oh my God, how stingy can he be? So... he’s both brainless and stingy. Is he really the senior who’s a famous figure? Wouldn’t our school’s standards be too low then?”
Xue Ya glanced at Guo Xiaoying without saying anything. Then, she saw Guo Xiaoying typing a WeChat message on her screen. [Thank you boss! I’m so happy!]
She shook her head. ‘Guo Xiaoying is going to pretend to be a gold digger again.
‘Guo Xiaoying comes from a decent family background and is definitely not a gold digger. On the contrary, she’s a bit of a feminist. She prefers women who relied on themselves instead of depending on men. Of course, she also wants girls to enjoy the same rights and obligations as men do.
‘Therefore, she hates gold diggers the most.
‘Because of this, she likes to roleplay the character of a gold digger when teasing others to see how the man would reply.
‘If the man really took the bait or tried to smooth things over, she would categorise him in her list of targets to continue toying with.’
Thinking of this, Xue Ya shook her head again. ‘Dear passerby senior... I wish you all the best. Why did you have to associate yourself with such a little devil?’
After complaining, Xue Ya lowered her head and continued to tidy up Little Ying’s bed. However, before she could do anything, the sound of a boy shouting could be heard from downstairs, “Xue Ya! Xue Ya!”
‘What? Who’s calling me?’
Xue Ya stopped what she was doing and walked to the window. She looked down and saw the handsome senior that she had seen at the train station earlier.
The handsome senior was holding a bouquet of roses and shouting at his window, “Xue Ya! I like you! Please be my girlfriend!”
‘What...’
Xue Ya’s mind was blank and butterflies filled her stomach.
She did not know how to react to this sensational confession that she had only seen on television.
Just as she was at a loss of what to do, she suddenly felt a huge force push her to one side.
She panicked and looked at the person who pushed her. Then she saw Guo Xiaoying carrying a basin of water and splashing it down the window.
Qu Xuan could not dodge in time and was drenched.
“Wow!” As onlookers gasped in shock, Guo Xiaoying pointed at Qu Xuan and scolded, “If you dare have any malicious thoughts for Little Ya again, I will castrate you!”
With that, she shouted, “Scram!” and slammed the window shut!
Xue Ya stole a worried glance at Qu Xuan who was downstairs. She realized that Qu Xuan only wiped his face before shouting upstairs with a smile, “Even if you castrate me, my feelings for Little Ya will not change!”
At that moment, Xue Ya felt like Qu Xuan’s... teeth were glowing.
However, she didn’t have time to think about it. She hurried to appease Guo Xiaoying who was about to explode from anger. ‘If I don’t hurry up and calm her down, she might really castrate Qu Xuan...’
Seeing the dangerous look in Guo Xiaoying’s eyes, Xue Ya thought, ‘I don’t think anything will happen to that passerby senior for now. As for that handsome senior... he’s going to be in trouble...’
As expected, Guo Xiaoying was not a kind person. Even after Xue Ya comforted her for a long time, she still went straight to the hospital and said that the second-year students from other departments were harassing the first-year students. She then requested the departmental leaders to take action.
The school immediately went on high alert since something like that happened before school even started. After the teachers completed their investigation, they headed straight to the sports faculty.
Thus, on that very day, Qu Xuan was called over by his department head to give him a scolding, warning him that if he dared to act recklessly again, he would be punished.
At the same time, Su Yang was also called over by his staff to give him a lecture as well. During the investigation, the staff found out that Su Yang was also sitting beside the two new female students and talked non-stop. Hence, he was also suspected of harassment.
Perhaps because Guo Xiaoying didn’t report Su Yang, the school only instructed the person in charge to warn Su Yang not to harass the new students in the future. Plus, he also had to pay attention to how he wooed girls.
Su Yang’s face was filled with confusion as he didn’t even know what kind of accusations he was involved in...
However, this was how life was like when one was a student. Often, a small matter would cause an uproar. As time passed, these small matters would become a very precious gem in their memories...
On the 1st of September, school started for second, third and fourth year students while first years have their orientation. It was also on this day that Su Yang received a call from Mr. Shen from the credit department...
