Chapter 685: A Sneak Attack On Socot Island
‘That possibility is that little monsters can’t not trigger this talent, which would be understandable. After all, until now, other than the [Fusion] function and some special items that can be stacked, all the special abilities and the little monsters’ abilities haven’t been able to be stacked.
‘At first, I thought that it was a restriction from the system.
‘However, after learning about spiritual energy, I think that it might be because the spiritual energy in the two items were not compatible with each other.
‘Of course, my understanding of spiritual energy is still too limited. So, everything is just guesswork and I still need to continue exploring.
‘However, knowing that this Silver Talent is ineffective against little monsters is a relief.
‘I have a feeling that if this worked, based on how well I’m treating the little monsters, I would be receiving a lot of sincere gratitudes in a day. Then, I would definitely be squeezing out this talent and something bad will eventually happen.
‘If that happens, even a good thing will turn bad.’
After testing out another characteristic of the Silver Talent, Su Yang pulled himself back to reality.
He talked to Zhao Licheng about Wei Lin. “I’ve already found a stock trader who is going to empty out Xinli Education’s stocks. I’ve given him 10 million yuan to start trading in the Hong Kong market and he’s managed to earn 3 million yuan within half a month.”
Zhao Licheng was shocked. “30% return in half a month?”
Su Yang nodded. “He’s very talented. He’s practically born for finance who’s literally a godlike existence in the financial market.”
Zhao Licheng nodded. “Looks like we’ve found ourselves a trustworthy partner.”
After sighing, Zhao Licheng said, “I’m still collecting information on Cao Qiguang and Xinli Education. Although I’m dead, my account in the company hasn’t been revoked. I’ve logged onto the company’s intranet and obtained a lot of internal information.
“So, I can now confirm that Cao Qiguang has already started his plan. Also... He knows that the most important thing about this plan is its scale. Therefore, in order to speed up the process, he’s invested billions of yuan into the development of branch companies across the country.
“Also, he announced this plan not long ago and it caused a huge uproar and a small drop in its stock prices in the Hong Kong market.”
Su Yang asked, “If the price of the Xinli Education is low, our profits will be much lower when we empty them out.”
Zhao Licheng smiled confidently. “Yes, but he will also be very anxious. After all, he was only able to become the chairman with the support of other investors. If the investors see that his progress is unfavorable, they will definitely replace him.”
Su Yang looked enlightened. “Is that why he’s invested all his money?”
Zhao Licheng nodded. “Yes. He also knew that this plan might affect the stock price and the investors’ confidence in him. That’s why he invested all the money and is now holding the entire company hostage.
He’s actually very confident in himself and believes that the path he’s taking is normal. That’s why he’s staking everything on this, he wants to develop Xinli Education into a giant in the market, a true national chain education institution.
“However, he needs time. So...”
Zhao Licheng paused for a moment and looked out of the car window at the road that kept moving backwards. Then, he said softly, “He might very well... Fabricate fake accounts.”
Su Yang heard a loud explosion by his ear and looked at Zhao Licheng in shock.
Zhao Licheng looked out of the window and said, “I’ve worked with him for 10 years, so I know him well. He’s the kind of person who would do anything to succeed. In order to buy time for himself, he’s very likely to falsify his finances to deceive the investors, especially since the news of these billions of yuan being paid out would be very bad for the public. Plus, the financial report for the first quarter is going to be announced very soon.”
Su Yang’s heart was surging like a tidal wave. However, since they were on the road, he did not dare to make any big movements. Hence, he retracted his gaze and continued to look at the road before he asked, “So, you want to make things difficult for him when he releases his financial report?”
Zhao Licheng replied, “Yes, which is going to be in two months, maybe even one and a half months. That’s going to be the time when we make things difficult for him.”
Su Yang questioned, “But the Hong Kong Stock Exchange Centre only requests for a company’s annual and mid-term financial reports. They haven’t asked for companies to reveal their seasonal reports.”
Zhao Licheng turned to look at Su Yang and smiled. “I’ll force him to go public with it. Don’t worry. We’ll definitely get to see this glorious financial report at the beginning of April.”
Su Yang was relieved.
‘Apart from Zhao Licheng’s abnormal behavior when he was facing the Clown Sea Serpent, he spent most of his time devising strategies. Every plan he’s come up with is closely linked, making it impossible for his enemies to defend against him. He’s a trustworthy man.’
Hence, Su Yang said, “Alright, I’ll leave it to you then.”
Then, he added, “I’ll get the trader to report to you tomorrow so you can make your arrangements with him.”
Zhao Licheng replied, “Alright.”
Because Zhao Licheng was taken away by a police officer, the company was in panic. Hence, Su Yang sent Zhao Licheng to the company to appease the employees.
Of course, before he left, Su Yang told Zhao Licheng that his wife knew about his arrest and asked him to inform her that he was safe.
After sending Zhao Licheng off, Su Yang returned to the villa.
After stopping the car, Mr. Jia called.
As Zhao Licheng had expected, Mr. Jia wanted to ask Su Yang about the secret expression he had exchanged with Zhao Licheng. He wanted to know if there was some dirt on Cao Qiguang which could be used against him.
However, Su Yang rejected him on the grounds that this matter was too private. Furthermore, he told Mr. Jia to follow the original plan to only stall and not focus on winning.
Hence, Mr. Jia, who was a smart person, did not continue asking. He only said that he would definitely handle this matter well.
After hanging up the phone, Su Yang returned to the villa. ‘Tang Jing has brought Tang Xiaomi home today, so I’m alone.’
After that, he rested for a while and drank some water. Just as he was about to return to the virtual space to rest, Little Deeny’s anxious voice rang in Su Yang’s ears. “Master! Something’s happened!”
Su Yang felt that he had faced a whole lot of issues that day so there was nothing else that could surprise him. Hence, he asked slowly, “What is it?”
Little Deeny said anxiously, “Janet sent a message saying that someone is ambushing Socot Island. It’s two teams of mercenaries with elite weapons and a modified yacht with heavy firepower. He said that he and the Clown Sea Serpent can’t hold on much longer.”
Su Yang stood up in shock.
‘Socot Island is my current base camp which allows me to enter the virtual space directly from Socot Island. Likewise, anyone who finds that entrance will be able to discover all of my secrets. I cannot afford to lose Socot Island!’
At that thought, Su Yang quickly told Little Deeny, “Get them to hang on. I’ll be heading over there right now.”
Little Deeny said, “Understood, Master.”
After Su Yang said that, he immediately used [Space Traversing Eyes].
He turned into a flaming phoenix and flew across half the Earth before landing on the island.
When he landed, Su Yang observed the situation on the island from high up in the sky.
The fog was thick and a modified yacht could be seen faintly on the shore. Two teams of heavily armed mercenaries wearing bulletproof vests and helmets were gathered on the shore.
Because time was still, Su Yang could see a mercenary lying on the ground. It was unclear whether he was dead or alive while some of the other mercenaries were helping him. At the same time, some were guarding the perimeter, while some were firing into the forest.
The Clown Sea Serpent was clearly in the forest, because there was a gorgeous flower of blood shooting out from the darkness.
Su Yang landed at the center of the island where the [Sentry Ward] was located. Then, he got Little Deeny to inform the Clown Sea Serpent to retreat.
Before long, the Clown Sea Serpent appeared before Su Yang. He was in a sorry state with his arm injured and hanging limply at the side. Apart from that, his entire body was dirty and his hair was disheveled, making him look even worse than the homeless man state when Su Yang summoned him.
When he saw Su Yang, he smiled obediently and said, “Master, you can’t blame me for not being able to defend well. It’s mainly because... I don’t have any suitable weapons. Plus, those people are too well-equipped and I can’t defeat them.”
Su Yang looked at him and took out a cup of ginseng water from the virtual space before passing it to him. “Drink this.”
The Clown Sea Serpent took the ginseng water obediently and drank it in one gulp, allowing his wounds to heal slowly. In the meantime, Su Yang took out a briefcase from the virtual space.
Su Yang said, “Didn’t you say that you don’t have a suitable weapon? Here you go, I’ll give you this special item.”
The Clown Sea Serpent tossed the cup aside and took the briefcase.
Immediately, the briefcase sank into his hand and because the Clown Sea Serpent was not mentally prepared, his hand was “pulled” downwards. Hence, he hurriedly pulled up the briefcase and curiously asked, “What is this?”
Su Yang said, “[Shape Shifting Avatar]. It can transform into a liquid clone according to your thoughts. Its hardness is comparable to high-intensity alloys. So, the bulletproof equipment on Earth shouldn’t be able to stop you.”
The Clown Sea Serpent’s eyes slowly lit up. “This... Is a good item! Thank you, Master! I’ll help you deal with them right now!”
With that, the Clown Sea Serpent lifted the briefcase and prepared to leave.
Looking at his back, Su Yang stopped him. “Leave one alive.”
The Clown Sea Serpent turned back, bared its teeth and smiled. “Understood.”
At the same time, the two groups of mercenaries were patrolling the coast nervously.
The leading mercenary walked with firm steps. As he commanded, he communicated with the gang leader on the ship. “This island is indeed very strange. As soon as we came ashore, we were attacked by an unknown humanoid creature.
“One of our team members was injured on the spot, but when the creature was escaping, we managed to injure it.”
The big boss replied, “Be careful. Search this island carefully and return with your gathered information. As long as you can complete this mission, I will suggest to Boss that you guys are sent to the battlefield in Central Asia to earn money.”
The leader perked up when he heard about the battlefield in Central Asia. “Understood!”
After the leader turned off the walkie-talkie, he said, “All of you better keep your heads up and don’t let your guard down! No. 1, No. 2, send the wounded back to the yacht first. The rest of you, follow me!”
No. 1 and No. 2 looked at each other and seemed a little reluctant. However, they did not dare to disobey their orders, so they could only reply, “Yes, sir!”
After the main group left, No. 1 and No. 2 carried the two injured people onto the boat and started driving the boat towards the yacht.
On the way, No. 1 said to No. 2, “Sigh, now that the captain isn’t bringing us along this time, we’ll lose some credit again. I really envy them for being able to go on a mission with such a low danger level.”
