Chapter 833 - A Visit From The World’s Billionaire List
The World’s Billionaire List has always been the most influential tycoon in the world.
The reason why they were not the “most authoritative” was because the wealth of many rich people was not necessarily accurate. In some developed countries, there were indeed rich people hiding in plain sight.
These invisible tycoons were most likely related to the leaders of the country. Through a few overlaps, they controlled a large amount of wealth.
The wealth of these people was not easy to calculate, and they could not be exposed, so it was normal for them not to be included.
Overall, the World’s Billionaire List was the most comprehensive, influential, and most recognized.
As a result, as long as one ranked first on the World’s Billionaire List, they would usually be called the richest man in the country, such as China’s richest man or America’s richest man.
The person who ranked first on the global list would be crowned the richest man in the world.
The other tycoons on the list, based on their wealth, were ranked from 2 to 200. Even the 200th place was considered to be a famous billionaire, a truly famous person...
Last year, Su Yang ranked 137th in China with a net worth of 8.52 billion yuan and became the youngest billionaire.
This year, Su Yang’s development was progressing a small step every day, and it was increasing by leaps and bounds every month. His net worth was also increasing crazily, and he had already become a new tycoon in the country.
Coupled with the recent controversy caused by “Wandering Planet”, to show their respect, the people working at the World’s Billionaire List asked Su Yang for his thoughts through Li Zijun because they wanted to send the management team to meet Su Yang.
In fact, Su Yang did not really care about such things. After all, he could not earn money, nor could he get any coins by affecting the number of people influenced. Therefore, when he heard the news, his first reaction was to reject it.
In the end, Zhao Licheng called Su Yang and told him his opinion.
He believed that these people would be of great help to the company’s brand and influence. With the company’s brand and influence increased, it would be more convenient to collect more coins.
Su Yang felt that Zhao Licheng’s words made sense. Hence, he took some time out of his busy schedule to meet these people.
Arriving at Jiadian’s headquarters, Su Yang used his retina-recognition software and entered the building. Then, he took the elevator up to the 10th floor.
When they reached the 10th floor, Jia Xiaoqian and Pan Zhaodi were already waiting by the elevator. As Su Yang’s assistant and his secretary, the two of them were very competent.
Su Yang nodded at the two of them and asked, “Are we going to Little Bun’s office?”
Jia Xiaoqian hugged a document and shook her head. “We’re going to be in the conference room.”
Su Yang nodded and led the way.
As soon as they arrived near the conference room, they heard the sound of laughter. Judging from the sound, it should be Li Zijun and a woman. The matter regarding the World’s Billionaire List was considered a publicity matter, so Li Zijun was fully in charge of it.
When he arrived at the door of the conference room, the door was not closed. It was probably left open by Li Zijun.
Jia Xiaoqian walked up to the door and knocked twice. She then said, “Mr. Su is here.”
Hearing Jia Xiaoqian’s reminder, Li Zijun and the woman inside quickly stood up to welcome Su Yang.
Su Yang smiled as he walked in. He nodded at Li Zijun and shook hands with the woman.
After that, under Li Zijun’s introduction, Su Yang found out about the woman’s identity. She was the Vice-President of the World’s Billionaire List in the China region, and she was there to visit Su Yang.
The purpose of her visiting Su Yang was simple. Firstly, she wanted to get to know Su Yang. Secondly, she wanted to conduct a small interview. Thirdly, she wanted to know more about Su Yang’s background.
The first one was easy to understand.
The second reason was that Su Yang was too legendary, and his history could be written into a novel. Therefore, she wanted to interview Su Yang and promote him that year. Of course, she could also make use of this opportunity to gain popularity. After all, Su Yang was already very popular online, and now, because of “Wandering Planet”, he was going to become even more popular.
The third purpose was because of how concise they were with their work. Generally speaking, when one reaches the top 100 of the list, most of the companies owned by them would be listed. Even if they were not listed, because of financing or data disclosure, the capital market would have a more credible valuation.
However, Su Yang’s corporation... Was not a listed company and had never been financed (the Jiangs were too early and could no longer be used as a benchmark). Furthermore, due to the rapid development and advanced technology content, the capital market could not be evaluated effectively.
Therefore, in order to be accurate, the vice-president wanted to have a chat with Su Yang personally to obtain more information to determine Su Yang’s worth.
The vice-president had already called Su Yang about these three matters before he came. Su Yang had already prepared a script.
For the next two hours, Su Yang had a good chat with the vice-president about these few matters. They talked about the location of the entire Jiadian Group, the development of the various companies, and the most important changes that the glass phone could bring.
In fact, after talking to Li Zijun, Su Yang even revealed a little about their “revenue”.
Of course, the revenue was just a false number, and it was watered down a lot by Su Yang.
However, there was finally a reference for the World’s Billionaire List to work on..
Then, after sorting out their conversation, the vice-president added a few more questions and recorded them down, completing the interview.
According to the contracts between the two companies, before the World’s Billionaire List released any information related to Su Yang, they would send the evaluation of Su Yang’s assets, the evaluation of his background, and the content of the interview to Jiadian Group. The publicity department of Jiadian Group, which was also Li Zijun’s department, would conduct the review and verification before it all got released.
A simple collaboration ended smoothly, where both guests and hosts were considered to be happy.
After that, according to normal benefits, Li Zijun would represent Su Yang and invite the few staff members on the World’s Billionaire List. Hence, Su Yang did not stay in the office for long. After chatting with the woman for a while, he ended the interview with the excuse that he had something else to do.
After the interview, Su Yang brought Jia Xiaoqian and Pan Zhaodi out of the conference room and prepared to head home.
On the way to the elevator, Jia Xiaoqian smiled and said to Su Yang, “Mr. Su, you’re really too awesome now. You’re almost on the World’s Billionaire List right now.”
As Su Yang walked, he said nonchalantly, “I got into it last year though.”
“I know, 137th place,” she then says. “But... There are a lot of news reports about those on the top 50, and after that, almost no one advertises.”
“But, from the looks of it, you will at least enter the top 20 this time.”
Su Yang pondered for a moment. ‘Top 20?’
Su Yang had a different opinion. He felt that he should be in the top 10...
Based on the shock that the woman had shown during the interview earlier, it was clear that something about him had exceeded their expectations, so the value of his assets would probably increase.
‘Last year’s top 10 had a net worth of 48 billion yuan.
‘Even though it might increase this year, according to the trend of the past few years, it might increase by half, or around 70 billion yuan.
‘However, even if I’ve always been called a billionaire, even if my estimated net worth would decrease, it’s definitely not going to get cut down by half.
‘Based on this calculation, I might really be able to get into the top 10!
‘A 20-year-old being ranked in the top 10 richest men in the country...
‘This should blind everyone, right?
‘Hehe.
‘I’m actually looking forward to it.’
At that moment, at the theater on the third floor.
Guo Fan and the Little Comparer were watching the movie quietly.
Even though he had watched it many times, Guo Fan still felt that his movie was really good!
‘Perhaps I really might leave my name in history?’
The man next to him looked calm, but his heart was churning like a tsunami. ‘Is this really a f*cking domestically-produced movie?
‘I would actually believe it if you tell me that this is made by one of the five Hollywood giants who invested over a billion yuan in the movie!
‘The completeness of the plot! The level of exquisiteness of the special effects! The depth of the inspiration! This does not look like a domestically-produced movie at all!’
It was not that the Little Comparer was looking down on locally produced movies. It was mainly because in the past decade, other than filming cheap movies like wuxia, suspense, comedy, or romance, which were all low-budget movies, they had almost never made a movie with a large-budget.
At the end of the 90s and in the early 20th century, a few famous directors had invested heavily in a classic martial arts movie from the East. It had caused a wave of excitement, but soon, they were crushed by western sci-fi movies.
Meanwhile, animated films were even worse. At the very least, live-action movies had once stood up before, but animated films had never been popular before. Other than last year’s “The Return of the Great Sage” which was considered to be a hit, if we were to count further, we would have to count back to “Wreaking Havoc On Heaven” which was released decades ago!
That was why the Little Comparer had invested himself into the career of animated films. It was all for the sake of saving domestic animated films!
After working hard to learn the western concept of advanced production, picking talents, forming teams, and working hard for more than a year, the Little Comparer finally managed to produce a demo that he was satisfied with and could afford. In his heart, this was definitely the most “advanced” movie in the country, plus it was going to be even better than live-action movies!
In the end... His pride was completely crushed that day because “Wandering Planet” was just too well-produced! Whether it was the inspiration, character, or special effects, it could be said to be flawless.
The Little Comparer felt that even if he were to take out “Nezha”, he was probably not going to be able to beat what he had just watched...
After the movie ended, the theater lit up. Guo Fan looked at the Little Comparer beside him and asked, “Brother Comparer, what do you think of this movie?”
“Not bad,” the Little Comparer commented with a calm expression. However, in reality... He was cursing internally. ‘You’re f*cking asking me what I think about it?! Don’t you already know what to think about it?’
Guo Fan looked at the Little Comparer strangely. He felt that his reaction was different from what he had guessed. He said, “By the way, Brother Comparer, you said that you also have your own demo. Would you like to show it to me now?”
The Little Comparer tightened his grip on the backpack and coughed before saying, “I forgot to bring it when I left the house today.”
Then, he quickly changed the topic and asked, “By the way, Director Guo, how long did it take for your special effects to be produced? I saw that every frame had special effects, so it must have taken a long time, right?”
After watching the entire movie, the Little Comparer finally knew how many special effects this movie had and how exquisite it was.
He compared it with his own “Nezha” and felt that his movie might be better in other aspects, but the special effects and rendering were no match.
If their company were to do it, they would probably need four to five years to achieve this effect.
However, Guo Fan did not know what the Little Comparer was thinking. He recalled for a moment, then said, “It took six months, I believe? It should have been six months. After all, we only filmed the entire movie for a year. We said we prepared for five years, but it was actually just a gimmick for the publicity.”
The Little Comparer was speechless.
‘Six months...’
“Ka-cha.” The Little Comparer broke off the handle on his chair.
This sudden turn of events left the theater momentarily silent...
After a while, the Little Comparer coughed and said, “The quality of the chairs in your theater is a little poor. Why did they break with such a light touch? I... Need to go to the washroom first.”
After saying that, he threw the chair handle aside and ran to the washroom.
Guo Fan blinked in confusion behind him. ‘The quality of the chair is poor? It’s not bad, right? I think it’s new in fact. Could it be that... Old Liu is (Vice President of the film company) embezzling public funds?’
At that moment, the Little Comparer who had come to the toilet rushed into a cubicle.
Arriving at the cubicle, the Little Comparer closed the door. Then, he started to scream internally. “Making a special effect of this level in six months, making a movie of this level in one year! What the actual f*ck?!”
“Oh my god! Why am I born in this era with these crazy people!
“My dream of saving the Chinese movie industry!
“Oh my god! I’ve always been so proud! Why though?!”
The Little Comparer yelled silently inside the cubicle. Then, he collected himself and left the cubicle calmly.
Returning to the screening room, he smiled at Guo Fan in embarrassment. “I’m sorry for breaking the chair handle just now, Director Guo.”
Guo Fan waved his hand nonchalantly. “It’s fine. Maybe the quality is really bad.”
The Little Comparer nodded and did not continue this topic. Instead, he asked something that he was interested in. “By the way, Director Guo, could you share any experience with how this movie was done? Can you tell me about it?”
The Little Comparer might be proud, but he was not stupid. Plus, he had a heart that was dedicated to Chinese movies. Therefore, he was really curious about how Guo Fan could make such a beautiful movie in such a short time.
He wanted to see if there was any experience that could help him complete his animated film.
Guo Fan thought about it, then said with a hint of nostalgia in his eyes, “Experience? I just might have it, which is to look for a good boss...”
After that, Guo Fan explained Su Yang’s role in the movie to the Little Comparer.
For example, editing the script, helping to save the production crew, settling the copyright, trusting the new director fully, letting the artificial intelligence produce special effects, personally acting as the protagonist when there wasn’t a suitable candidate, etc...
It was only after Guo Fan’s explanation that the Little Comparer finally understood. ‘Damn, so that rich man, Mr. Su, is the true heart and soul of this movie?’
At the thought of this topic, the Little Comparer could not help but recall that his animated films company did not have a lot of funds. For a moment, the operator suddenly had an idea. Since he could not win, then... Why not join the competition instead?
