Chapter 621: Watching “Wolf Warriors” with Chu Xia
On the day of the screening, Su Yang bought two tickets and called Chu Xia.
The call was picked up very quickly. Chu Xia’s slightly unhappy voice came from the other end of the line, “Mr. CEO, I didn’t expect you to still remember your cute little secretary.”
Su Yang seemed embarrassed. He had been a little busy recently, so he had neglected Chu Xia.
Su Yang quickly said, “Oh my, how could I have forgotten about my little secretary? Am I not calling her right now?”
Chu Xia scoffed, “Thank you for your concern, Mr. CEO, you still managed to remember me even though you’re busy.”
Su Yang chuckled. “Anyone who’s missing so much meat will definitely remember. After all, meat is so expensive nowadays.”
Chu Xia was confused.
Before Chu Xia could react, Su Yang quickly changed the topic. “Little secretary, are you free today?”
On the other end of the phone, Chu Xia propped her head up and looked at the textbook in front of her. Her pen scratched on it as she said lazily, “I don’t have time. I’ve been revising recently. Exams are right around the corner.”
Su Yang replied, “You’re available. Would you like to watch a movie then?”
Chu Xia replied, “Sure.”
The conversation between the two did not seem logical at all, but it was a good conversation with good results.
Satisfied, Su Yang hung up the phone and sent Chu Xia the time the movie would start.
In the afternoon, Su Yang drove to school to pick Chu Xia up before bringing her to the cinema.
The cinema that Su Yang had booked was not far away from the school, only three to four kilometers away. Soon, they arrived at the cinema.
While Su Yang was parking his car in the mall, Chu Xia was reading a book in the passenger seat. ‘This girl is really serious about her studies.’
Stopping the car, Su Yang knocked her head. “Alright, stop reading already. When you come out to play, you have to behave like one. Stop studying all the time.”
Chu Xia stuck out her tongue. “You really look exactly like my mom when you say that. It’s just that her words are the opposite.”
As she spoke, Chu Xia’s expression turned serious. She imitated her mother and said, “Chu Xia, you have to behave like one when you’re studying. You mustn’t stay glued to your phone all the time.”
After learning, both of them laughed. ‘I think all parents in the world are the same.’
Su Yang had seen Chu Xia’s mother before and thought that she was a very easy going woman. However, he did not expect that Chu Xia would have such a serious side to her.
The two got out of the car and chatted as they got into the elevator.
The elevator went straight to the cinema on the sixth floor.
When they arrived at the cinema, Chu Xia finally asked about the movie, “Oh right, what movie are we watching today?”
As Su Yang queued up in front of the ticketing machine to collect the tickets, he said, “”Wolf Warriors”.”
“”Wolf Warriors”?” Chu Xia’s large eyes blinked. “What is this? Is it a beast movie?”
Su Yang shook his head. “No. It’s a romance film with a box office of 600 million.”
Chu Xia’s eyes sparkled when she heard that. “I love romance movies.”
Su Yang smiled and patted Chu Xia’s head.
Chu Xia looked at Su Yang, not knowing what he was smiling about.
While playing with Chu Xia, Su Yang did not forget to observe the rest of the audience.
Perhaps it was close to New Year’s Day and many people were rushing to work or busy studying, so there were obviously fewer people at the cinema than usual.
But most of these people in the cinema at that time seemed to be viewers of “Wolf Warriors”.
This was not to say that “Wolf Warriors” was a good movie, or that it had a lot of publicity. Rather, it was because there was only one new movie that had been released recently. The other movies were all released on New Year’s Day and did not have any screenings.
That was why “Wolf Warriors”, the only movie that had been pre-released, became the only new movie. What was there to watch if not this?
Sure enough, it was within Su Yang’s expectations. Soon, as the tickets were checked, most of the people who were standing or sitting got up to queue at the ticket counter.
Su Yang and Chu Xia were the last to leave. They went to buy water and popcorn first. They watched the crowd enter before following the ticket inspection into the cinema.
Chu Xia looked around. When she noticed that no one was watching them, she quietly held Su Yang’s arm.
Su Yang turned to look at her. Chu Xia met his gaze bravely.
Su Yang smiled and did not say anything else.
The two of them entered the theater and Su Yang scanned the entire theater. More than half of the seats were taken, which was pretty good.
The two of them found their seats and sat down. Chu Xia did not let go of Su Yang’s arm from the beginning.
After they sat down, Su Yang helped Chu Xia open the bottle of mineral water and placed the popcorn in Chu Xia’s arms. “Eat.”
Chu Xia shook her head slightly. “Fat.”
Su Yang touched Chu Xia’s arm. “You’re too thin.”
Chu Xia’s lips curled into an intoxicating smile.
There was no woman who did not like others praising her for being thin, especially the person she liked.
Su Yang added, “You’re so thin that you can’t be sold for much money.”
Chu Xia was confused.
She glared at Su Yang. ‘This person is so annoying!’
Su Yang smiled. He felt that Chu Xia’s expression was really nice.
He looked around at the audience in the cinema, then lowered his head and whispered to Chu Xia, “I filmed this movie.”
Chu Xia had a look of realization on her face. “No wonder you invited me to watch a movie.”
Su Yang tapped the tip of her nose. “Don’t think too much. My main goal is still to watch a movie with you.”
Chu Xia pouted and said cajolingly. “Hmph! That’s more like it.”
Su Yang coughed twice... ‘What’s wrong? Was I not correct with whatever I said previously?
‘However, come to think of it... I was quite infuriating.’
The movie started and the two gradually immersed themselves into the movie.
This was not the first time Su Yang had watched his own movie, especially since he was the one who took the lead in the post-production. Hence, he was extremely familiar with every detail and sound system.
However, it was different inside the company than on the big screen. His own movie on the big screen was still a novelty, so he soon started to watch the movie seriously.
Chu Xia was different from him...
Initially, Chu Xia had wanted to watch the movie seriously, but... The movie started with Wu Feng shooting to save the hostage.
Chu Xia frowned slightly. ‘What happened to the romance movie?
‘This... Why does this feel like a military or action movie?’
However, due to her trust in Su Yang, Chu Xia suppressed this doubt in her heart. She felt that she might be able to see the love element very soon.
Later on, Wu Feng was investigated and Long Xiaoyun appeared. Chu Xia’s eyes lit up, and she thought that this beautiful female soldier might be the female lead! ‘Su Yang wasn’t lying, this is indeed a romance movie!’
However, the plot took a turn for the worse. Soon, Wu Feng arrived at the Wolf Warriors Squadron and started his mission, but Long Xiaoyun did not appear.
Chu Xia was anxious. ‘Did I guess wrongly about the female lead? Is the leader of the wolf pack the female lead? Was this a Boy Love movie? Surely not...’
The further they went, the more confused Chu Xia became. She was so possessed that she even thought that the villain was the female lead, but not long after she appeared, she... Died...
After countless “female leads” died, Chu Xia finally realized that Su Yang was lying to her!
‘To think that I trusted him so much! I’ve been watching this like it’s a romance movie! Ahhh! I’m so angry!’
With that thought in mind, Chu Xia glared at Su Yang. In the end, she saw Su Yang staring intently at the movie screen with a smile on his face.
Looking at Su Yang’s side profile, Chu Xia was stunned. ‘Wow... Su Yang is so handsome in the dark.’
At that moment, there was an explosion. A bomb had been dropped in the movie. Chu Xia jumped and was startled awake.
She looked at Su Yang again. Su Yang did not react and was still watching the movie.
Chu Xia was a little angry. ‘Hmph! You’re actually here to watch the movie! Serves you right for being single!’
With that thought in mind, Chu Xia did not care if the popcorn would make her gain weight. She grabbed two and stuffed them into her mouth.
Her actions might have been too dramatic that she startled Su Yang. Su Yang turned around and looked at her. “I thought you didn’t want to eat?”
Chu Xia was inexplicably rebutted and became even angrier. She said angrily, “Hmph, I want to eat it now.”
Su Yang’s gaze returned to the big screen and he casually said, “Fat.”
Chu Xia was confused.
Chu Xia suddenly felt that the popcorn in her mouth was no longer fragrant.
The movie ended very quickly. When the lights in the cinema lit up, Su Yang silently observed the reaction of the audience. Other than one or two people who ran away in a hurry and probably went to the toilet, the rest of the audience were still sitting in their seats. ‘Nowadays, movies usually have easter eggs. Everyone’s still waiting for the easter eggs.’
Su Yang nodded. ‘This is a good sign. This means that the audience approves of this movie.
‘If it wasn’t good, who would wait for the easter eggs?’
As expected, Su Yang’s thoughts were verified by the other audience members.
“The movie is not bad.”
“Yes, it’s not bad. It feels exciting and satisfying. More importantly, it has positive energy.”
“This movie is quite interesting. It’s worth watching again.”
“I’ll talk to my friends when I get back. There are too few good domestic products. This is not bad. It feels good!”
Most of the comments given by the audience were positive. Su Yang was secretly pleased and relieved...
He truly breathed a sigh of relief. He now knows that the movie’s box office would definitely surpass 600 million, but the quality of the movie and its box office might not necessarily be relevant.
For example, his first movie, “Fighting The Buddha”, was a classic case of good box office sales, but with a terrible reputation.
Su Yang could be considered to be someone with aspirations now. Of course, he did not want to shoot a lousy film to earn money.
That was why he came to see the audience’s reaction today.
‘From the looks of it now, this movie’s reputation was booming and the effects aren’t bad!
‘If this is the case, with the seven days of pre-screening, I believe that its reputation would continue to grow. By then, on New Year’s Day, the box office would definitely explode and everything would go according to plan.’
At the thought of this, Su Yang could not help but feel happy.
Just then, he glanced over his shoulder at Chu Xia. Chu Xia was staring at him resentfully. ‘The popcorn in her hand seems... Untouched.’
Su Yang was confused.
“What... What’s wrong?”
Chu Xia sulked. “Nothing...”
Su Yang was confused.
‘Strange...’
That night, Su Yang and Chu Xia had a meal together before sending Chu Xia back to school and returning home.
As soon as he reached home, he received a call from Wu Feng.
When he picked up the phone, Wu Feng’s excited voice rang in Su Yang’s ears. “Brother Su! We’ve succeeded! The movie’s reputation has exploded!”.
