When he received the call, Su Yang had just finished the class meeting for the new semester. The speaker had spoken a lot on the podium. However, since Chu Xia had not returned to school yet, Su Yang was in no mood to listen to what was being said.
‘Chu Xia seems to really have something important to attend to. Ever since she called to say that she was out of town, she disappeared without a trace. She didn’t even come back to school when school started.’
Her disappearance made Su Yang slightly think of Chu Xia... causing him to not dare to skip classes anymore.
After the class meeting, Su Yang walked out of the school building and received Mr.Shen’s call.
He picked up the phone, and sure enough, Mr.Shen’s passionate voice came from the other end of the line. “Hello, good morning, Mr. Su.”
Su Yang replied warmly, “Mr. Shen, let’s drop the honorifics, Little Su will be fine. Good morning to you as well.”
Mr.Shen quickly said, “No, no, no. How could I possibly call you Little Su when you’re so young and capable? Actually, I wanted to meet you for lunch to talk about your loan today...”
Mr.Shen had been living a good life these past few days. The reason why he did not do anything these few years was because he was afraid of troubles coming after him and laziness instead of his incapability.
Therefore, when he really wanted to do something seriously, his results were still outstanding.
In just a week, his sales had increased tremendously. Loans after loans were sent to the Risk Assessment Department for reviewing and were all eligible for approval. All the companies that wanted to take a loan or those that were dangling around the borderline for approval would be able to have their loans successfully approved through him.
‘Everything is proceeding so smoothly that it’s even beyond my expectations.
‘It’s actually very easy to understand. My sales have been low since I haven’t done much in the past few years. However, it’s exactly because I haven’t done anything that I’ve managed to not offend a lot of people and ended up accumulating a lot of favors instead.
‘Therefore, If I used these favors when I needed them, they would be very useful.
‘As for Su Yang, he was within my sights early on, but I gradually forgot about him later on.
‘After all, even though a loan of 50 million yuan was not a small sum, it isn’t to the extent that I need to put down my pride to get it done.
‘Furthermore, Su Yang offended me previously, that makes me not want to help him even more.
‘No matter how bad of a condition he was in, he was still the credit manager of one of the four major state-owned banks. How could a small private enterprise boss like him offend him?’
In the end, just as he was deep in thought, he was called to the director’s office again...
When he entered the director’s office, Director Zhao was still in his suit, looking very busy.
Mr.Shen stood aside with his head lowered, wondering why Director Zhao was looking for him.
This time, Director Zhao did not ask him to wait any longer. As he signed the document, he asked, “I heard you rejected the loan from Jiadian Technology?”
When Mr.Shen heard Director Zhao mention this, his heart skipped a beat as an ominous feeling crept up to him.
However, when faced with Director Zhao’s question, he did not dare lie and could only answer truthfully, “Yes, Director Zhao.”
Director Zhao looked up at him and put down his pen. He crossed his arms on the table and said with a heavy tone, “Mr. Shen, don’t forget that we’re a state enterprise.”
When Mr.Shen heard that, a bolt of lightning flashed across his heart. He suddenly understood...
‘State enterprise, that means it’s an enterprise owned by the state. In a state enterprise, although achieving its sales target is important, the more important task by the country is “you are allowed to choose not to earn money sometimes, but you must complete your mission no matter what”.
‘Sometimes, the profit is right there for the taking, but because the project is at odds with the country’s will, it’s an unobtainable profit in the end.
For example, although some companies might not be profitable, they were part of the country’s high-tech industry. Furthermore, the company was the country’s main core of being competitive in the world, 5G industry for example. In that case, the loan would have to be approved for the company even if it were to be done with little to no interests.
‘Another example, there might be some enterprises that were big and had sufficient mortgages in place such as houses and commercial lots. However, their loan would still have to be rejected or even retrieved within a limited period of time if the company made a move that was against the country’s interests.
‘Therefore, companies like Jiadian Technology who are highly praised by the country are important for the country’s reputation and an important figure for the bank’s growth.
‘This isn’t just a matter of whether his company is profitable or not. It goes up much higher and is related to the country’s future competitiveness.’
When he thought about this, Mr.Shen could not help but feel like he was wrongly accused. He said,
Director Zhao, the thing is... Jiadian Technology isn’t using their own shares as collateral.”
Director Zhao glanced at him. “If you had other assets to put up as collateral, would you use your core assets?”
As he said that, Director Zhao tapped his temples in disappointment and said heavily, “Use your brains!”
Mr.Shen lowered her head and stopped talking.
After a while, he said reluctantly, “What if he borrows the money and doesn’t use it to develop artificial intelligence?”
Director Zhao frowned and asked three questions in a row.
“Does it have anything to do with you?”
“Does it have anything to do with me?”
“Does it affect our bank?”
Then, he said heavily, “We just need to let the higher-ups see our attitude! As for what he develops with the money, that’s up to the higher-ups. What matters is the effort we put into our work.”
“No one would be able to comment if he didn’t come to us to ask for a loan. However, since he’s here now, we mustn’t reject him!”
Director Zhao looked at Mr.Shen and said, “It’s settled. You’re in charge of it. Also, don’t let others find fault in it, I want everything done by the books. I won’t interfere in the matter, but you must get it done beautifully.”
After that, Director Zhao waved his hand. “You’re excused.”
With a heavy heart, Mr.Shen walked out of the director’s office. He was cursing Su Yang inside.
‘Director Zhao’s intentions are clear, I have to settle this matter for the sake of the country. However, I can’t just approve it like that due to the importance of the mission. Even if Su Yang doesn’t have enough collateral, I have to think of a way to get it approved by the books so that no one can find any issues with it.
‘I also understand that Director Zhao will not get involved in this matter. In that case, I will have to compile the documents and get it approved all on my own, I will also need to utilise my favors, so well that no one realizes that there’s something wrong with it.
‘This is simply a test of skill!
‘However, since Director Zhao is pressuring me to get it done, I have no choice but to accept it.’ Hence, this was why he made the phone call to Su Yang.
Although Su Yang had already expected to receive Mr.Shen’s call, he was still very excited because this meant that the silver mission was within reach!
Therefore, when Mr.Shen said that she wanted to meet him for a meal, he called Pan Zhaodi without hesitation and asked her to pick him up.
As Su Yang got more excited, things became more urgent, hence Pan Zhaodi drove her Mercedes-Benz directly into the school and stopped at the entrance of the liberal arts faculty.
A luxurious car driving into school grounds was very eye-catching. Plus, it was the day of the new semester class meeting for various faculties which had just ended, hence it attracted a lot of attention.
Some curious passersby could not help but ask around to find out more.
“Whose car is that?”
“I don’t know. It looks like a company car, but it’s a very luxurious one.”
“This looks like the Mercedes-Benz S350, isn’t it? I think it’s close to a million yuan.”
“This must be a company car for a big company.”
Among the people involved in the discussion were not only seniors, but there were also a number of new students as well. It was quite a shock to see such a luxury car on school grounds for the first time.
“Are there so many rich people in our school?”
“Which wealthy family does this car belong to?”
“I’ve never seen such a beautiful car in my hometown.”
Guo Xiaoying and Xue Ya walked out of the car as well. When they saw the car, Guo Xiaoying looked annoyed. She muttered to Xue Ya in a low voice, “Another show off. It’s frustrating. So what if he’s rich?”
Xue Ya adjusted her glasses and said gently, “Maybe it’s something urgent.”
Guo Xiaoying pursed her lips and said, “What could a student possibly have that’s so urgent?”
Just as she was mumbling to herself, Su Yang walked out of the lecture hall.
When she saw Su Yang, Pan Zhaodi hurriedly opened the car door and got up from the driver’s seat.
Then, she picked up the clothes on the seat and unfolded them as she walked toward Su Yang.
Su Yang and Pan Zhaodi met up. Su Yang put on his clothes and said, “We’re going to Zijingang Hotel. It’s a little far so let’s depart earlier.”
Pan Zhaodi nodded. “Yes, Mr. Su.”
She walked to the backseat and opened the car door for Su Yang. She placed her hand on top of the door to prevent Su Yang from hitting his head.
The 2 of them were becoming more and more in sync, Su Yang adjusted his clothes and entered the car.
Pan Zhaodi closed the car door, returned to the driver’s seat, started the car, and left.
This scene of a secretary working together with her boss harmoniously, and the rapid pace of a business elite’s lifestyle affected the surrounding students as well.
‘A race against time, perfect cooperation, luxurious and grand.
‘This is what it truly means to be a business elite!’
There were more girls in the liberal arts faculty, hence this kind of luxurious lifestyle was especially attractive. Therefore, the crowd grew restless for a moment as many girls lowered their voices and discussed with the people around them.
“Is that Su Yang? Wow, I’ve only heard of him, but this is my first time seeing him. He’s really handsome.”
“He really is so handsome. This kind of business elite is really attractive.”
“That’s right, he’s awesome. I never expected for him to be such a person.”
“Did you see that? The female secretary has a really good figure as well. Furthermore, she’s not the skinny type, but the athletic and healthy type.”
The new students were also trying to find out more about Su Yang.
“Who is that?”
“I don’t know.”
“I think his name is Su Yang. He’s an influential figure in school. He founded three companies in just half a semester and is praised by the country.”
“D*mn, is he such an awesome senior?”
Guo Xiaoying stared at Su Yang’s disappearing figure in a daze.
Xue Ya waved her hand in front of her eyes. “Little Ying, Little Ying.”
Ordinary girls would be shy after being reminded like that by their best friend, but Guo Xiaoying was different. She looked at Little Ya and asked an obvious question, “What’s wrong?”
Xue Ya shook her head. “Nothing.”
At that moment, Su Yang was still unaware of the commotion he had caused. He was waiting in the car for his meeting.
‘Whether or not the Silver mission succeeds or fails rides on this meeting!’
