Chapter 804 - Record-Breaking Viewership Ratings
At the premiere of “Legend Of Wu Zetian”, Su Yang summoned all the little monsters to watch TV at home. Actually, he had wanted to invite Chu Xia at the beginning too.
However, Chu Xia rejected him, saying that her mother was also very interested in “Legend Of Wu Zetian” because of the gossip these days, so she could only stay at home and watch TV with her parents.
Su Yang didn’t know whether he should say that his publicity stunt was on point or that he overdid it, because it actually caused him to be unable to date his girlfriend.
Meanwhile, “Legend Of Wu Zetian” was on the hot search list of all the platforms.
This TV series that had been attracting attention recently made everyone look forward to it, especially since it was going to be aired tonight, so online discussions could be heard everywhere.
‘”Legend Of Wu Zetian” is finally going to be screened. I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been spammed by news about them all this time, so I really want to see how it is going.’
‘What’s there to look forward to? Didn’t they say that they were from the previous production team? It’s definitely not going to be good then.’
‘This has already been clarified before. Didn’t you watch the news?’
‘Is that so? I really didn’t notice, but I feel that even if it’s cleared, it shouldn’t be a good TV series. However, I will go and see what it is like.’
‘I plan to go take a look too. I like it very much.’
Due to the negative news that had been circulating recently, even though the amount of negative news about “Legend Of Wu Zetian” was impressive, the audience’s anticipation was not particularly strong.
Most of the viewers were just curious to find out more about this drama.
This was also Su Yang’s motive, to instigate curiosity without instilling too much anticipation. Under such circumstances, as long as the quality of the TV series was high enough, it would definitely be able to retain most of the audience.
At 7:30pm, which was Mango TV’s prime-time slot...
“Legend Of Wu Zetian” was broadcasted!
That night, although the streets were not to the extent of being empty, there were still many viewers who stopped what they were doing to watch the TV series.
Many employees of Mango TV were also working overtime, waiting for the viewership ratings to be revealed so that they could carry out their next step.
The domestic viewership ratings were generally divided into the average viewership ratings of CMS and the real-time viewership ratings of Huan Network. The results of TV series in the industry mainly depended on the average viewership ratings of CMS, but CMS usually only announced its results the next day. Therefore, when there was an urgent need for data, everyone would refer to Huan Network’s real-time viewership ratings.
After all, as long as a TV series was really popular, the real-time viewership ratings and the average viewership ratings would increase in proportion. Therefore, through Huan Network’s viewership ratings, most of the time, the average viewership ratings for CMS could be estimated.
As a result, there were times when people in the industry would judge whether a TV series had gained a lot of viewership ratings through its two largest viewership ratings.
At 7:30pm that night, “Legend Of WuZetian”, episode one was officially broadcasted.
The content of episode one was simpler. It was about Wu Zhao being chosen as a servant in the palace. Then, when she entered the palace, a eunuch scolded her when he saw that she was not on her knees.
On the other hand, Tang Taizong was watching the three princes fight in the palace and became excited with what he saw and declared that the winner would be rewarded.
The other concubines in the palace came to the great hall to inspect the new servant. One of the concubines discovered Wu Zhao and insulted her when the concubine found out that Wu Zhao’s father was a lowly merchant.
The content of the first episode was generally dull as it mainly introduced the characters and plotted out the hatred scenes. Hence, the plot was not outstanding, but it had to be said that the exquisite costume, beautiful makeup, and beautiful scenes were very attractive, enough to attract the audience in fact.
This was actually the credit of the production crew of “Legend Of Wu Zetian”. Before the filming began, they didn’t refer to “Legend Of Wu Zetian” as a historical drama, but as a historical idol drama.
This allowed them to make many adaptations that were more in line with its current preferences, which also made it more popular among audiences.
When the first episode ended and the advertisement was broadcasted, Mango TV received the real-time viewership ratings for Huan Network. When they saw the first episode’s viewership ratings, Mango TV straight up exploded.
According to the statistics of Huan Network, the viewership ratings of the 1st episode of “Legend of Wu Zetian” reached an astonishing 2.28, and the market share reached an astonishing 6.05%.
This statistic directly broke the record for the premiere of the historical TV series. It was the highest premiere record since viewership ratings were introduced in ’02!
Of course, this achievement had earned “Legend Of Wu Zetian” of the highest viewership rating for a prime-slot TV series.
Furthermore, this was the first episode of the premiere episode. According to the normal viewership ratings curve, as long as the quality of the first episode was not a problem, the viewership ratings for the next two episodes would definitely rise.
Mango TV’s staff were all shocked when they saw this. In fact, everyone even suspected that they were looking at strings of fake data, but after confirming with Huan Network three times and receiving confirmations that there were no problems with the data, they finally believed that they might be witnessing the rise of a popular TV series.
As expected, the viewership ratings of the second and third episodes of “Legend Of Wu Zetian” rose steadily, reaching 2.31 and 2.36 respectively. The share of the viewership ratings also rose to 6.5%, making them the first in the viewership ratings of the same period.
When all the data was settled, the people from Mango TV were shocked and speechless.
After all, such were humans. They would always talk about how magnificent history was, but when they turned around, they realized that they were also a part of history...
Because Huan Network’s data was only a reference, they had to wait for tomorrow’s CMS viewership ratings for everything to be confirmed. Therefore, Mango TV did not announce this data to the outside world. They even issued a gag order. Of course, as partners, they still reported the data to Jiadian Group.
Su Yang and Zhao Licheng, who had already predicted this data, were not surprised. They merely expressed that they understood. This made the people from Mango TV feel that the Jiadian Film Studio was indeed unfathomable. Furthermore, Mango TV now realized that they had indeed been set up previously...
According to the rules of the entertainment industry, if a TV series performed well, there would usually be news about it, or it would be actively promoted.
However, after the first episode ended and the second episode was halfway through, Mango TV did not promote it. This made everyone in the entertainment industry wonder if “Legend Of Wu Zetian” had died.
After all, it was a popular TV series. In the early stages of the show, due to excessive publicity, and the quality of the show could not keep up, it was very easy to die.
Therefore, many celebrities who were jealous of both Han Yi and “Legend Of Wu Zetian” mocked and ridiculed them in their small groups.
‘Looks like Han Yi’s A-list celebrity dream is really over. “Legend Of Wu Zetian” is obviously dead.’
‘I’ve never been optimistic about “Legend Of Wu Zetian” before. How can a historical drama be filmed as an idol drama?’
In fact, it wasn’t as if no one objected to the matter. ‘After watching this drama, I feel that the production is very good. It shouldn’t be dead so quickly.’
However, he was also mocked and ridiculed. ‘Have you not watched TV serieses before? Do you have any taste for art? Could this kind of TV series even be considered good? You should really go back to school to study.’
The smaller groups quickly became involved in a fight, with two groups either taking sides with “Legend Of Wu Zetian”, or against them. Based on this, it could be seen just how influential the TV series was.
Of course, other than these battles and speculations, there were also people who took the initiative to check Huan Network’s real-time data. However, after seeing Huan Network’s real-time data, they realized that the data of “Legend Of Wu Zetian” was practically historical. Furthermore, Mango TV did not make any promotions, so they could not help but suspect that Huan Network’s data was wrong, so they did not promote it.
That night, at 10:30pm, after Chu Xia and her parents finished watching the TV, she excitedly called Su Yang.
On the phone, Chu Xia was like a little sparrow chirping happily as she told Su Yang how beautiful and interesting Han Yi was on TV.
Su Yang smiled as he listened to Chu Xia explain everything. It was only then that he suddenly remembered that Chu Xia was Han Yi’s fan. His relationship with Chu Xia was also progressing because they went to attend Han Yi’s show together.
The two of them chatted for five minutes. After that, Su Yang recalled how Chu Xia had asked him to address her more intimately a few days ago. Hence, Su Yang said, “Honey, you should get some sleep now.”
This was the first time she had heard Su Yang call her honey in such an affectionate tone. Hence, Chu Xia could not help but blush.
She hummed softly like a mosquito and said in a voice that Su Yang could barely hear, “Then, you should sleep early too.” After that, she hung up the phone in a panic.
It was indeed a very good show. There were many people who discussed and shared this show like Chu Xia. This was also the reason why the ratings of each progressing episode was getting higher and higher.
The amount of discussions struck up by the TV show allowed it to be listed on the trending searches again. Not only did more and more people become curious about the TV series, they even realized that the series was of a very high quality and was worth watching.
Previously, people were skeptical about “Legend Of Wu Zetian” because of the 200 million yuan invested in it.
That night, when they saw the trending topics on the rankings, there were more and more discussions. The people who opposed and ridiculed “Legend Of Wu Zetian”, the celebrities in Han Yi’s circle, finally started to feel that something was wrong. However, they still harbored some hope that this was all an illusion.
However, their fantasy did not last long.
On the second day, CMS50 City’s viewership ratings were released.
“Legend Of Wu Zetian”, with a viewership rating of 2.45, was ranked 7.1% on CMS nationwide, with a viewership rating of 2.25 and a viewership rating of 6.33%. It was ranked first in both statistical frequencies nationwide.
And it even broke the record for a premiere episode’s viewership ratings in the history of TV serieses!
Even though this was caused by Su Yang and the five major platforms, it still represented the rise of a historical drama.
With news of the first episode of “Legend Of Wu Zetian” surpassing last year’s TV series champion with just three episodes. The entire entertainment circle was instantly silenced.
The people who had mocked “Legend Of Wu Zetian” and Han Yi didn’t know what to say. They just wanted to bury themselves in the ground and pretend that they had never said anything.
On the other hand, those who supported “Legend Of Wu Zetian” were also surprised and found it hard to accept. Although they felt that “Legend Of Wu Zetian” would be popular, they never expected it to be so popular!
The premiere episode already had a viewership rating of 2.45. With the addition of the TV series’s exquisite production, the premiere episode would definitely surpass 3%!
One had to know that in the past four years, there had not been any TV series whose viewership ratings had broken 3, or even exceeded 2.
All the TV series that had a viewership rating of 3 were at the historical level. For example, “Return Of The Pearl Princess”, “Home Temptation”, and even “Palace: The Locked Heart Jade”, which was the series that led Sister Mi to her fame, only had a viewership rating of 2.5 and had never broken 3. All of these had already made Sister Mi an A-list celebrity, and she became popular all over the country.
This made people wonder how popular Han Yi was going to be with this series.
The people in the industry used Sister Mi’s “Palace: The Locked Heart Jade” as the basis and analyzed it.
Although “Palace: The Locked Heart Jade” was mainly focused on the female lead, many of the plots were political schemes. Although Sister Mi was the main female lead, the movie did not revolve around her. Even so, she still benefited greatly.
Meanwhile, “Legend Of Wu Zetian” was a historical drama tailored for Han Yi. Every frame was showing her beauty at every possible angle.
Moreover, this drama was about the story of “Han Yi” slowly growing from a servant to the only female emperor in China in five years. It had already brought a huge boost to Han Yi’s popularity, so the impact that Han Yi could receive should be far greater than Sister Mi’s.
The TV series was more popular than “Palace: The Locked Heart Jade”, and the roles were better than Sister Mi’s. Everyone thought that Han Yi would definitely make it to the A-list with this drama. In fact, her popularity and status would directly surpass her original boss, Sister Mi, and she would become one of the female artists closest to S-list.
When they thought of this, everyone in the industry could not help but feel envious and jealous of Han Yi. With such a Boss who spent hundreds of millions of yuan to create it, tailor-made, and have it promoted by the five major platforms, everyone became envious.
Of course, there were also people who were both envious and jealous, and there were also people who doubted whether it was only going to be the first three episodes of “Legend Of Wu Zetian” that would be good.
However, after the next two days, where episode four to nine of “Legend Of Wu Zetian” were broadcasted, all the doubts disappeared.
“Legend Of Wu Zetian” had a viewership rating of 2.56%. The market share was 7.38%. The nationwide viewership ratings were 2.57%, and the market share was 7.63%. It was number one in the nation.
During the release of episodes seven to nine, CMS50’s viewership ratings reached 2.80, viewership share of 7.9%, nationwide viewership ratings of 2.72 and 8.21% share, making them the nation’s number one TV series.
In just three days, the viewership ratings of “Legend Of Wu Zetian” reached 2.80!
Everyone was talking about “Legend Of Wu Zetian”, Han Yi, and Wu Zhao.
From this popularity and the curve of the viewership ratings, no one doubted that the viewership ratings were fake. No one doubted that “Legend Of Wu Zetian” was going to collapse.
In fact, “Legend Of Wu Zetian” became a legend, and Han Yi successfully became an A-list celebrity. She had her own representative work and had a real status in the entertainment industry.
At that moment, when she walked outside, other than the highly respected seniors in the entertainment industry, everyone had to address her respectfully as Sister Yi.
Countless advertisements, invitations, and endorsements flew like paper.
This also meant that in those three days, she had walked a journey that most people in the entertainment industry would never be able to reach...
While “Legend Of Wu Zetian” was popular all over the country, Zhao Licheng brought Su Yang a piece of good news... The matter with the Wangs has come to an end...
