Chapter 729 - Special Item: The Electrocuting Kite
Su Yang looked at Little Hus and blinked his eyes. “Did you do that?”
Little Hus exclaimed, “If I had the ability to do that, I would have zapped you long ago! Why would I wait for you to throw me into the washing machine if I could do that then?”
Su Yang was speechless.
‘As much as that was unpleasant to hear, it’s right.’
Little Hus looked at Su Yang, then at the other monsters. Then, it silently removed its paws from the kite and pressed them down again.
This time... It was only silent because nothing happened.
Little Hus’s eyes then widened. “Why doesn’t it work anymore?”
Su Yang was speechless.
‘It’s not a good dog after all...’
Then, he looked at the Little Monster Beans.
The Little Monster Beans nodded in unison before forming a team to carry Little Hus. Then, with a bow to Su Yang, they entered the virtual space.
Knowing that the special item this time was dangerous, Su Yang did not act rashly. Instead, he wanted the other monsters to disperse before he checked on the Clown Sea Serpent.
As expected, the Clown Sea Serpent was a freak. Even though the surface of his body was charred black by the lightning, his body was recovering rapidly. Sanque took a look at him and also said that he was fine. Hence, Su Yang threw him into the virtual space to recuperate.
After settling the Clown Sea Serpent, Su Yang looked at Spirit Building. “Old lady? Did you find anything?”
Spirit Building pursed her lips and coughed twice. Then, she said weakly, “When Little Hus’s paws pressed onto the kite just now, a wave of spiritual energy flowed through its body. However, it didn’t seem to find a place where it could flare up, so it followed the hand that the Clown Sea Serpent had on Little Hus’s body and exploded.”
‘Spiritual energy?
‘It transferred from Little Hus onto the Clown Sea Serpent?’
Su Yang recalled the situation before the Clown Sea Serpent fainted. ‘He seemed to have been... Electrocuted?
‘So... This kite is somehow related to electricity.’
Just as he was thinking this, the kite’s system interface finally appeared.
[Kite +4: Obtained ability, “The Electrocuting Kite”.]
‘Just one ability?
‘This +4 seems a little weak.’
Su Yang was dissatisfied as he wandered in his thoughts...
Then, he tapped on the kite’s ability.
Instantly, the ability panel popped up.
[The Electrocuting Kite]
Ability: This kite can attract the lightning in the sky when flown in a thunderstorm. When it’s stationary, it can also absorb the free electrons in the air at all times. This kite will absorb the lightning charge and store it to form a lightning battery.
Restriction 1: Exposing this kite in the air for 1 hour gives it 1 charge. When released, the amount of charge increases according to the amount of lightning stored.
Restriction 2: Only by accumulating 100 charges of electricity can one lightning battery be born. Before 100 charges are stored, the electricity will be stored in the kite and the person who touches it will be electrocuted.
Restriction 3: Each kite can produce up to 20 lightning batteries per day.
Note: Franklin is not the only one who can be struck by lightning.
Su Yang was stunned when he read the description of the kite.
‘What...
‘What the f*ck is this?
‘This is it?
‘This doesn’t seem to be very useful?
‘The entire introduction is about how the kite can produce a [Lightning Battery], but... What’s a lightning battery?
‘Can it be eaten?
‘Can it electrocute someone?
‘Can it generate electricity?
‘It doesn’t say anything.
‘If I have to make an analogy, I think this special item isn’t a “special item” at all. Instead, it looks more like a “monster race” since It can produce special items, a lightning battery per se.
‘So the battery is the one that actually contains the power?’
With that thought in mind, Su Yang looked at the power indicator on the kite, which stated [87%].
‘According to the introduction on the kite, it can increase its charge by 1% every hour. In about ten hours, the first [Lightning Battery] will be born.
‘Or... Could I use this kite to get struck by lightning?
‘Mom! I’ve been struck by lightning!’
Su Yang was Imagining that scene...’
Then, Su Yang decided to wait until the next day to see what this lightning battery was. He did not want to be struck for no reason.
‘Ouch...
‘I don’t want to become scorched like the Clown Sea Serpent...
‘Wouldn’t my beautiful face be ruined!’
After adding the point, Su Yang took out a pair of plastic gloves and placed the kite aside. Then, he prepared to add a point to his headquarters..
Opening the system, Su Yang saw many semi-transparent [+] symbols. Some of them were on the ground while others were on the door. However, none of them were on the office building itself. It was obvious that Su Yang was currently in the company and could not add a point onto it.
Hence, he led the little monsters out of the building and sent them back to the virtual space.
Arriving outside the office, Su Yang turned on the system again. This time, a huge semi-transparent [+] number appeared on the office building.
Su Yang felt that this [+] symbol was the largest one he had ever seen. If not for the fact that the system had increased the range of what could receive points, he would not have been able to add a point onto it.
However, Su Yang did not act rashly. He did want to add a point onto the building, but he did not know if the building had the potential to receive points.
Therefore, he had the Little Monster Beans take Little Hus out of the washing machine so that he could inquire about it.
Hence, a drenched little husky was confused as it laid on the floor. When Su Yang forced it to come out to work, it had a look of dejection on its face as it glared at Su Yang. It looked as though it was saying “when my wife comes back, I’ll let her beat you to death!”.
However, Little Hus had no choice but to lower its head to sniff before it said, “This has some potential, it should be able to achieve the effect you want.”
After getting Little Hus’s approval, Su Yang threw it back into the virtual space. Then, he left the headquarters and sat on a flower bed not far away.
It was around 10 pm at night at the time. However, gor a big city like Shanghai, nightlife had just begun, hence Su Yang could already see a few couples passing by, who might have gone to a place where they could enjoy themselves for the night.
After all, that place was not far from the town of universities, where there were many students within the three universities there. So, it was normal for there to be more pedestrians at night.
Since Janet was still with Cao Qiguang and could not cover Su Yang’s vision. Hence, Su Yang could only patiently wait for time to pass.
While waiting, Su Yang sat on the flower bed and took out his phone to play as he killed the time. Then, he turned on Bilibili.
When he opened Bilibili, the first that the system recommended to Su Yang was about a big boss who had passed away and left behind 500 billion yuan of inheritance. If an ordinary person wanted to earn that much money, they would have to win 13 million yuan on a lottery ticket everyday for 100 years to accumulate that much money.
When Su Yang saw the set of figures for this, he was stunned for a moment. He could not help but calculate according to his own income. ’10 days, 3.2 billion yuan. If I want to earn 500 billion yuan, I would need 1562 days, which is actually more than four years!’
At the thought that he would have to earn four years to surpass this big boss’s inheritance, Su Yang could not help but feel that this big boss was indeed rich!
‘It seems like earning money from stocks is still too slow, I still have to open up a company, develop technology. Then, I would have to make valuations and cheat the capitalists’ money. ‘Conning minor investors isn’t considered a skill, but conning those dumb capitalists is!’
As he thought about this, Su Yang continued to read on. In the end, the second line of recommendations was related to him, or rather, it was related to his company. “Produce 101” had broadcasted two more episodes and Meiyue became even more popular. Furthermore... Su Yang also became even more popular.
“The Black-Hearted Boss And Meiyue’s Daily Life”
When Su Yang saw the title of the video, he was puzzled. ‘Who have I offended? Why have I become popular as well now that Meiyue is becoming popular?
He clicked on the video and saw that it was Meiyue crying while she was doing an interview.
It turned out that in the past two episodes, other than the segment where there were competitions, there were also many details of the young women’s life in the program.
Among them... There was a scene of Meiyue playing five-in-a-row chess in her dormitory.
Meiyue was a trainee from Class F and lived in a room with six people. The six ladies were a little bored after training at night, so they started playing five chess.
Then, the production team happened to film the scene of Meiyue playing five games with her dormitory mate.
Actually, there was nothing fun about playing five moves. Most people would play it. However, the fun part was that the cameraman had caught Meiyue’s dormitory mates playing five-in-a-row chess and actually letting Meiyue win... Even going so far as to give her a seven move handicap!
After all, this was a game of five-in-a-row chess! A game where the game would be won when a player manages to get five pieces of the chess piece in a row. So, Meiyue was actually allowed to play seven pieces first! This is simply unheard of!
What was even more shocking was that... Even though Meiyue was given this handicap, she still lost.
Every time this happened, the girls in their dormitory would laugh and fight for the next spot to play against Meiyue.
The director was stunned, so he specially interviewed a segment of Meiyue regarding this game.
As a result, the treasured girl, Meiyue, cried. She said she grew up in a village and didn’t know what the game was, except that she had only played a few games with her boss in the company. Then, her boss taught her that in the game, she should take up four corners before taking up the center and then carry on with the game calmly.
So, since she was stupid and did not understand, she had continued to believed him until now.
Hence, Su Yang fell silent after watching the video.
‘Did I teach Meiyue this?
‘I don’t think so...
‘I can’t remember.
‘But... This really does seem like something I would do!’
‘Using this event, Meiyue had successfully gained a new wave of popularity and fame. This was especially so when she was serious before every game, thus her serious act of fighting for the four corners was simply adorable.
Of course, at the same time, Su Yang received another wave of criticism. The title was already polite enough to state that he was a black-hearted boss. Su Yang searched through Bilibili and realized that there were many bullet comments and videos of him, claiming him to have “bullied a fool” and harmed their nation’s beloved girl.
There were even people who complained to Su Yang from Meiyue’s perspective. ‘I treated you as my boss, but you treated me like a fool.’
Thus, Su Yang was speechless.
‘Fine, forget it, I have to be magnanimous. They’re just defaming myself, aren’t they? I won’t bother with them. Little Deeny... Blow up their phones! I could have them buy their own glass phone in the meantime...’
After enacting a huge fight in his heart, Su Yang naturally did not have Little Deeny destroy those netizens. ‘No matter what, at least they’re fans of Meiyue.’
Hence, he continued to surf on Bilibili and time passed silently.
In the blink of an eye, it was already 1 am.
Su Yang observed the surroundings and realized that no one had passed by for almost half an hour. Hence, he stood up in relief and returned to the headquarters. Then, he opened the system and began adding a point.
With a faint light, the entire headquarters seemed to be covered by a layer of light. Then, it disappeared in an instant, marking the completion of the added point.
Hence, a notification popped up in front of Su Yang.
[Office Building +1: Size Increased.]
Su Yang was speechless.
‘Size?’
Su Yang had an ominous feeling in his heart and quickly retreated.
As expected, not long after he retreated, the whole building started to move and expand. In just a moment, it expanded outward.
Perhaps because the ground outside the headquarters was paved, countless tiles were lifted, and several flower beds were overturned, causing a huge mess.
Then, Su Yang raised his head and looked at the building. ‘It seems to have grown bigger...
‘But... I didn’t add a point to make the building bigger! I don’t have that many people, so why would I need such a big place?
‘This can be considered to be a wasted point...’
Looking at the office building before him, Su Yang started to hesitate. ‘Should I add another point?
‘There’s no point in enlarging it, what I want is a building that exudes technology...’
Then, Su Yang hesitated for a while. ‘I remember that Little Hus told me that this building had potential.’ Thus, he made up his mind and decided to add another point.
On top of that, Su Yang released Satantan and had it monitor from the sky to ensure that no one was passing by since he knew that it would take longer for the second point to complete.
After that, Su Yang pasted the Guardian Talisman on the building. When the building was covered in a layer of red light, Su Yang clicked on the [+] symbol again.
This time, the building lit up for thirty seconds before the light faded and everything returned to normal.
After that, Su Yang waited patiently for 10 minutes before the panel of the building popped up again.
[Office Building +2: Size Decreased.]
Su Yang was speechless.
‘Huh??’
Su Yang looked at the panel in confusion.
‘What the heck is this?
‘Why has it shrunk again?’
As the notification popped up, the building started to shrink back with a “Rumble”. After a while... It shrank back to its original size.
Su Yang looked at the tiles that were lifted up and then looked at the ground that was exposed because the building “retreated”. Then, he remained speechless for a long time. ‘So, have you literally helped plow the ground for me then?
‘Did I need you to do that?
‘Couldn’t I have a cow do that instead?
‘Are you kidding me, expanding and shrinking like that?!’
Su Yang was filled with frustration after both his added points failed as he paced back and forth angrily at the entrance of the building.
‘To add or not to add? That is the question!
‘I’ve already added two points, am I just supposed to give up now?
‘Then, wouldn’t I have plowed the ground in vain then?’
At that thought, Su Yang gritted his teeth and stomped his feet. After that, he decided to add more points!
‘I’ve already wasted two points! If I don’t continue, I will be returning empty-handed! I refuse to believe that I won’t be able to receive the feeling of technology I want after adding four points to this building!
‘If I really can’t have it... I’ll kill that dog and serve it to the heavens! After all, it’s the one who cheated me!’
At that moment in the virtual space, Little Hus, who had just had its fur dried by the Little Monster Beans, sneezed. “Achoo!”
The puppy scratched its nose and said with confusion, “Eh? That’s weird. Have I caught a cold?”
It was confused for a moment, but it shook its head. “Probably because I just came out of the washing machine whilst drenched earlier, so I’ve probably caught a cold, haven’t I?”
