Chapter 798 - Don’t Hit My Face
When Han Yi, the quasi A-list celebrity, and the most popular star of the new generation had her work promoted, it attracted a lot of attention.
Especially since this drama was Han Yi’s first work after she jumped companies. Everyone wanted to see what the future of the top newcomer would be like.
The news of Han Yi terminating Sister Mi’s contract at a high price had caused a huge commotion, both within and outside the industry.
Han Yi had been quiet for half a year after she jumped ship, and she did not have a single job. This made those who were not optimistic about her job jump even more unhappy.
After all, the reason she was so popular back then was largely due to Sister Mi’s support. When Sister Mi was at her peak, she had brought her along to participate in shows and act together. She had given her many opportunities, which allowed her to have her current status.
Now that she had left Sister Mi and had been quiet for half a year, her popularity and reputation had dropped drastically.
Therefore, when her first work was released, everyone wanted to see how good her work was and whether it could save her from the quagmire.
Mango TV was very optimistic about “Legend Of Wu Zetian”. Therefore, after the news was released, they immediately hired a professional marketing company to start promoting the entire series.
Hence, very soon, the drama and trailer of “Legend Of Wu Zetian” were released.
Those who were concerned about Han Yi also saw the promotions immediately.
After browsing through them one by one, they could not help but feel surprised.
Because their first reaction was... ‘This show looks so beautiful. Not only is Han Yi beautiful, the scenes are beautiful, the costumes are beautiful, and the set is beautiful too.
‘The entire series is so beautiful that it doesn’t look like a historical drama, but like a music video.’
Meanwhile, the people in the industry had a clearer understanding of the situation. From the name of the TV series, they knew that this was a drama solely centered on the female lead, where she was an absolute in there.
However, after watching the promotional video, they realized... ‘How is this a TV drama? This is practically Han Yi’s show, Han Yi’s exclusive fashion show!’
In the promotional video, Han Yi went from a young and inexperienced palace maid outfit to a mature woman’s dress, then to a graceful empress outfit, giving her a mature woman’s look, then to a luxurious and domineering queen outfit, and finally, an emperor’s outfit with a matching presence!
These outfits, together with Han Yi’s beautiful appearance, fully displayed Han Yi’s beauty.
Actually, Han Yi was beautiful to begin with, but this show fully displayed her beauty.
Coupled with her ever-changing persona, temperament, and apparel, one could say without hesitation that she had everything anyone could have ever wished for.
She was practically a weapon to attract male audiences!
After all, who would not want to look at such a beauty with all kinds of styles?
Furthermore, through the promotional video, the industry insiders also discovered that in the entire TV series, other than Han Yi, the other characters, even some minor characters, all had very good looks, and almost none of them looked ordinary.
Coupled with the Tang Dynasty Hanfus, it was a visual feast for the male audience.
If that was all there was to it, perhaps the people in the industry would not think too highly of it. After all, in the common sense of the entertainment industry, male audiences were dispensable. The majority of the viewership ratings were still female audiences.
However, from the trailers, promotional videos, and even photos, people in the industry realized that although this was a historical drama, it was actually a... Palace drama!
What was the genre of drama that was the most popular at the moment?
A drama about internal battles within the palace!
Women loved this genre the most.
Therefore, the genre of the show determined that as long as the screenwriting was good, the female audience would definitely pay attention to it.
So, if the male audience liked it, wouldn’t the female audience love it too?
With this combination, the industry insiders came to a shocking conclusion. ‘What the f*ck. Will this show become popular?’
Just like after Han Yi had read the script, character design, and costume, she was acutely aware of the potential of this show. Thus, many people within the industry reached the same conclusion.
Therefore, in just half a day, when Mango TV had just started promoting, the drama had already attracted a lot of attention in the industry.
After asking around, they easily found out the production cost of this show, which was more than 200 million yuan.
For a moment, many actresses within the industry were jealous...
‘What kind of luck does Han Yi actually have? Her boss took out a few hundred million yuan to film a set of “MVs” that had the potential to explode in fame?’
Everyone knew that once this drama became popular, Han Yi would definitely benefit the most.
This would not only make up for Han Yi’s shortcomings of not having any representative work, but also because of her beautiful character setting in this movie, her fans would once again increase greatly, and her popularity would once again skyrocket.
From the looks of it, her path to being an official A-list actress was just around the corner.
In fact, many people in the industry were discussing it in private. They felt that with this lineup, publicity, and funding, once it was a hit, even a C-list actress would be able to reach the top.
From this, it could be seen how highly the industry regarded this drama.
Of course... The premise of all this depended on the following ratings. If the ratings were not ideal and they encountered a Waterloo, then no matter how much money was invested, no matter how much publicity, no matter how beautiful the persona, it would be of little help to the actors.
At the start of the promotional event, Su Yang, who was the CEO of the film company, Pan Zhaodi, and Jia Xiaoqian personally flew to Junsha to attend the signing ceremony and release conference of “Legend Of Wu Zetian”.
Actually, before they came, both parties had already signed their contracts. This signing ceremony was just a public appearance for publicity.
Generally speaking, Su Yang did not need to attend such events personally. After all, the collaboration was only with Jiadian Pictures. As long as the person in charge of Jiadian Pictures was present, it would be sufficient.
However, this drama was, after all, Han Yi’s first drama after she left the company. It was also Jiadian Group’s first drama with a well-known celebrity. Su Yang had always been Han Yi’s fan, so he came over to show his support.
Su Yang’s presence on stage was very effective. Initially, Mango TV’s plan was only for a director from the procurement department to appear. However, when they saw Su Yang, the director of Mango TV personally appeared and even raised the standard of the press conference.
Su Yang knew that it was not only because of his identity, but also because the director knew about the attitude some countries had towards him...
Hence, this press conference ended in a strange and high standard.
Fortunately, this did not affect the effect of the press conference. Instead, it caused a lot of discussion.
Many netizens compared the signing ceremonies and press conferences of the other episodes on Mango TV and realized that the standard of this press conference was exceptionally high. Therefore, many people could not help but guess that this drama would be the highlight of the year. Furthermore, it would definitely be a hit. This meant that this drama was going to be very good.
This imperceptibly created a wave of advertisement for “Legend Of Wu Zetian”.
After attending the press conference, Su Yang flew back to Shanghai to continue her work. Meanwhile, Han Yi treated Su Yang to a meal late at night to express her gratitude. After that, she immersed herself in her work, since “Legend Of Wu Zetian” would be participating in various variety shows to promote the new drama.
Back in Shanghai, Su Yang got off the plane, and as soon as he got into the car, Zhao Licheng called him. He had received a lot of resumes from researchers during that period of time and was planning to study them with Su Yang.
Hence, Su Yang told him to come to his hotel for a chat before hanging up.
Actually, Su Yang wanted Zhao Licheng to come to the virtual space at night. However, he was with Jia Xiaoqian and Pan Zhaodi, so it was inconvenient for him to tell them.
At night, Zhao Licheng brought a thick stack of resumes to the virtual space.
The two looked around and realized that most of them were researchers from the Academy of Sciences. However, their levels were not very high. Most of them were assistant researchers and associate researchers. Other than that, there were only a few researchers with 0 stars. However, there were none at the level of the director.
In such a situation, Su Yang and Zhao Licheng were mentally prepared. After all, when one reached the level of a research lab director, they would already have a certain status in the scientific community.
Then, the treatment offered by the research institute would be very generous. Their salaries were not low, and they were even treated like civil servants.
Although the conditions offered by Jiadian Group were very good, it was still a private company, so no one knew how long this company would last.
Furthermore, people who were willing to devote their entire lives to science would probably not have much desire for money. They would not have to worry about food or clothing because of this.
Therefore, under such circumstances, most scientists with certain statuses would not choose to jump companies.
Thus, Su Yang had to find a way to make them jump.
At the thought of this, Su Yang had thought things through. He and Zhao Licheng filtered out some of the people who looked like they were just here to make up the numbers. Then, they selected 10 researchers to check their resumes.
Of these ten people, five were the most qualified and experienced, while the other five were the most promising.
The reason why he only chose 10 resumes was because the daily limit of “A Talent Printer That Likes To Jog”, which was 10 copies.
After handing the 10 resumes to Little Deeny, Little Deeny’s doppelganger went to the courtyard to do backflips.
Su Yang sat in the air garden on the third floor and looked at Little Deeny, who was spinning around like a wheel. He could not help but smile.
‘Needless to say, she’s pretty even when doing backflips...’
After flipping through the pages, Little Deeny sent 10 resumes to Su Yang. Su Yang and Zhao Licheng then started flipping through the resumes.
This was out of Su Yang’s expectations. Out of the five researchers, four of them were one-star talents.
Of the five rookies with potential, only one of them was a one-star talent. The other four had acceptable evaluations, but it was obvious that they did not have the potential that Su Yang and Zhao Licheng had expected.
Zhao Licheng pondered for a while and said to Su Yang, “Mr. Su, it seems like there are a lot of real talents in the scientific world, unlike other industries.”.
Su Yang nodded slightly.
Compared to other industries, there were fewer people without talent in the scientific community. After all, in the scientific community, one had to look at scientific research results, and scientific research results were very hard to be faked.
Other professions might have nepotism, or they might try to bluff their way through, claim credit, or deceive others. However, for researchers, it was difficult to fake a project. Therefore, this was understandable.
Then, Su Yang checked the development direction of the five talents with stars.
Of the five people, two were in the materials science field, one was in chemistry, and one was in applied physics.
Su Yang asked Zhao Licheng to inform them that he was going to conduct a second interview with them to check if they had ulterior motives. As long as there were no problems, they could be hired.
Researchers at this level had their own small team. Four researchers could form four small teams. The laboratory could also be established.
That being said, Su Yang was still a little dissatisfied.
After all, until now, he did not have a researcher above two-stars. Also, he did not have anyone reliable to conduct core experiments.
This made Su Yang feel that his research and development path was still a long way off from being realized.
However, it could not be helped. Talents were always in short supply, especially when it came to technological talents. They were the treasures of various countries and companies, and they could not be found easily. One could only rely on time to slowly accumulate.
Fortunately, Su Yang was only 19 years old and had a lot of time. As long as he wanted to, he could even survive until a generation died out and everything would be his...
Then, Su Yang gave Zhao Licheng the rights to use [A Talent Printer That Likes To Jog] and asked him to print out all the resumes to see if there were any other talents.
After that, Su Yang asked Little Deeny where she was because he had something to ask Little Hus for help with.
Following Little Deeny’s instructions, Su Yang arrived at the third floor.
Before he even left the staircase, Su Yang saw Little Hus holding onto a glass phone and was video-chatting with Janet.
From the image on the screen, it looked like Janet was on a deserted island. Behind him was the vast sea, and there were several sharks swimming in it.
On the other hand, Little Hus was lying on the ground and complaining to Janet. “Wifey, let me tell you. Su Yang is no longer a good person.”
Janet said to Little Hus, “Don’t say that about Master.” When he spoke, although his expression was cold, his tone was surprisingly easygoing.
Little Hus completely ignored Janet’s correction and was still talking to itself. “I’m telling you, he’s been picking on me for the past few days.
“Just now, he didn’t like me and even scolded me. He’s just taking it out on me!
“Without you by my side, I did not dare resist, so I could only clench my fists and hold back my tears.
“In the end, when he saw me clenching my fists, he thought that I was unconvinced and gave me another beating.
“Don’t you think he’s bullying me?” Little Hus started to cry at that point.
Seeing that Little Hus was crying, Janet quickly consoled it, “Don’t cry. Master must have his reasons for hitting you.”
Su Yang broke out in cold sweat.
If he had not confirmed that he had not hit Little Hus today, he would have believed Little Hus’s acting.
‘That freaking dog... It’s even able to lie without batting an eyelid now!
‘Now I know just who it is that’s been ruining my reputation!’
Remembering that grudge in his heart, Su Yang stepped forward and gave Little Hus a kick in retaliation.
Then, with a scream from Little Hus, he knelt down and greeted Janet. “Hi, Janet. How have you been?”
Upon seeing Su Yang, Janet immediately stood up straight and bowed to him. “Master, I’ve been doing well recently. I’ll be able to bring you a few more Imperial Guards soon.”
As the Imperial guard of the shark race were like mini versions of Janet, they were quite powerful. Hence, Su Yang nodded his head in satisfaction.
After that, Su Yang and Janet chatted for a while more to clarify that Little Hus was spreading rumors. Then, he hung up the video call and walked downstairs with Little Hus by his neck.
Little Hus knew that it would not have a happy ending if it got caught. Hence, it covered its face with its paws and said, “Su Yang, be nice and don’t hit my face.”
Su Yang agreed with a smile. “Sure, you can do more overtime by doing me a favor instead.”
