Cherishing Chu Yao was a novel that Chu Xia was writing. Aspiring to be a famous writer, Chu Xia really loved writing. In order to practice her penmanship, she began writing online novels on the Internet.
There was a saying in the circle of online writers — Chinese language and literature majors, or related majors, are usually unconvincing when they write stories online. This was because they would usually deliberate over words and sentences, sticking to them without paying attention to the intent behind the words. To top it all off, they were also not down to earth.
However, Chu Xia didn’t believe in this curse. After reading dozens of women’s fiction, she found that the current women’s fiction trending romance were completely uninspiring. From the overbearing president, to the ancient prince, some cute adorable puppies of unmarried pregnant women with the overbearing president’s baby made it seem like women were just vessels for men to enjoy.
So Chu Xia was the opposite. She was writing strong female stories!
When writing about an overbearing CEO, she would write that women could hold up their end of the bargain, and men were serving women instead!
It was proven that readers would also experience aesthetic fatigue and did not like to read stereotypical novels. This was why Chu Xia’s novels were trending like crazy...
Once the novel went viral, Su Yang came under fire as well. Everyone who read the story on the internet now knew of a man called Su Yang who was incapable, could only eat soft foods, was greedy, lustful and tattled all day long. To top it all off, he also had to be trained by the female protagonist.
Of course, Su Yang wasn’t the first one to come under fire. The first was a prominent president named Wei Wuyi. He was the typical male CEO who would drunkenly sleep with the female main character. He had slept with a woman after drinking and got her pregnant before marriage. Five years later, he was still indifferent to her.
Writing this novel, Chu Xia did not expect to write a novel that could go viral and get so many readers. After all, this was a kind of test for her. When the novel began trending, she couldn’t change the name of the male protagonist halfway through so she was fearful all day. In the end, she didn’t expect Su Yang to discover her novel.
Chu Xia was cheeky and had a heart raging like a tidal wave. However, her face was as steady as the mountains. “What’s that? A novel?”
Chu Xia thought to herself, ‘Well I handled that pretty well to conceal the fact that I wrote this novel.’
Su Yang didn’t even look up. “Didn’t you write the novel?”
Chu Xia replied stiffly. “No.”
Su Yang continued prodding. “Oh, then what’s the name of the novel you wrote?”
Chu Xia’s mind went blank for a moment, and half-heartedly, she snorted. “You’re trying to pry it out of me, aren’t you? I won’t tell you.”
After saying that, she walked off!
‘I have to run! If I don’t run, I’ll be exposed!’
Looking up at Chu Xia’s fleeing figure, Su Yang smiled and shook his head. Then, he continued to play with his phone with his head down.
Deeny’s voice echoed in his head through the bone conduction headphones, “Master, Miss Chu Xia is lying.”
Su Yang asked, “How do you know that?”
Deeny replied, “Recently, I’ve been studying the psychology of relationships in addition to social interpersonal studies.”
Su Yang was speechless.
This research was really complicated.
Su Yang said without raising his head, “Can’t you learn something useful? Learn more about directing techniques.”
Deeny retorted. “I did! However, I’m a multi-core processor so I can use it for multiple purposes and learn several things at the same time.”
Su Yang was inwardly jealous.
After Little Deeny finished, he said, “Right. Master, a person recently wrote me a private message on TikTok, asking me about the company that did our post-production special effects and whether they do outsourcing.”
Su Yang was surprised. “Oh? Really?”
Deeny replied, “Yes. My Lord, shall I reply him?”
Su Yang shook his head. “Forget it, there’s no time.”
While they were chatting, the bell rang, and Qu Xiaomeng stepped into the classroom.
Su Yang put down his phone and stopped his conversation with Deeny, he looked toward Chu Xia who was sitting in the front row, smiling inwardly. ‘This girl must have been lying just now, she wouldn’t really be interested in me, right?’
Although Su Yang had never been in love, it didn’t mean that he was a fool. He didn’t realize it before and just didn’t think of her in that way. After all, Chu Xia treated everyone equally well.
However, after including what happened today to his consideration, Su Yang began realizing that she somewhat treated him better. Slowly, he began feeling a little interested.
Just as he was pondering, Qu Xiaomeng spoke, “Students, next week is the final exams and the week after that is a holiday. So, please remember to study this week and know that you can always come to me if there’s anything you don’t understand.”
Su Yang was a bit out of it. ‘A semester has passed so quickly...
‘Will you have completed the only remaining bronze mission you have next week?
‘Will you have two months off the week after next?
‘Will you have new juniors two months from now?
‘Time passes so quickly...’
The day passed quickly. In addition to listening carefully, Su Yang took the time to go to the office at noon. On top of giving out some benefits to motivate the staff, he also opened two minutes of [The Devil’s Angel Halo] and Intermediate [Verbal Cannon] to inspire the staff.
The effect from the 20 points worth of coins spent was that the employees were super motivated and were enthusiastic about their work.
Su Yang found that the best use of these two combined abilities was actually in the company. Once the friendly aura was on, all the complaints the employees could have about him would disappear in an instant.
When the [Verbal Cannon] ability was activated, it was like brainwashing. Even if the employees wanted to express their opinions, they couldn’t speak or refute them in meetings, so the effect was exceptional!
In the evening, Su Yang went to Pool’s milk tea shop to grab a cup of milk tea after a busy day and waited for Tang Dafa to pick himself up on the side of the road.
Pool’s milk tea shop was now quite popular and business was brisk. It gradually built up a reputation from the monster family video in the hot air balloon and he’d occasionally appear in a cameo. Because of this, there would be admiring fans from time to time who came to buy milk tea, take group photos and ask for handshakes.
Pool was gentle, never refused them, and was especially patient so the reviews left were rather good. There were even a number of young students who quietly left him their WeChat contacts.
After drinking free milk tea on the side and watching Pool work for a while, Tang Dafa’s car pulled up beside Su Yang.
The car wasn’t expensive and was just a Mercedes-Benz black business car. It drove to the side of Su Yang and Tang Dafa rolled down the window, obsequiously smiled and said, “Brother Su, I’m here.”
Su Yang smiled and replied, “Brother Tang, you’re very early.”
Saying that, he got up, opened the back door and got into the car.
When he came to the car, Tang Dafa smiled at Su Yang. “I’ve always wanted to ask Brother Su out for a chat, but today I finally have the chance.”
Su Yang smiled and said politely, “I’ve also always wanted to get together with my old brother. The two million you lent me really relieved my urgent need.”
Tang Dafa’s eyes flickered as he smiled. “Of course, of course”
The driver drove the two of them to an upscale western restaurant.
When they arrived at the restaurant, the seats had already been reserved.
Su Yang and Tang Dafa sat on either side of the table, facing each other.
After ordering, Tang Dafa was the first to say, “Brother Su, I recently came across a project, I don’t know if you’re interested.”
Su Yang looked up. “What kind of project?”
Tang Dafa replied, “It’s a big online movie, called Fighting the Buddha. The script was written by a well-known screenwriter, and the IP is from Journey to the West. The main characters are second-tier power actors, and the project rating over at iQiyi is S-ranked. It’s very marketable.”
Su Yang was surprised. “Really?”
Tang Dafa nodded. “Right. The owner of that movie company and I are friends, and he’s given me a free investment quota of three million. If you’re interested, I’ll share one and a half million with you.”
Su Yang’s eyebrows furrowed lightly as he thought to himself. ‘Sounds like a free lunch.’
Su Yang said, “Brother Tang, do you have any introduction regarding the project for me?”
Tang Dafa said without batting an eyelid, “I do. I’ll give you an electronic version first, so you can take a look.”
Saying that, he used his obese hand to pull out his cell phone and pressed a few buttons. Then, Su Yang’s cell phone vibrated when he received it.
Su Yang said flatly, “Okay, Brother Tang, I’ll take a look at it later. I’ll go to the toilet first.”
Tang Dafa smiled. “Okay, okay.”
When he went to the toilet, Su Yang said to Little Deeny, “Look up this project and check out the information.”
If Su Yang only thought that Tang Dafa was trying to make him a degenerate before, then Su Yang definitely felt that something was wrong now.
If it was to corrupt him, then there was absolutely no need to introduce the project to him.
‘This project was clearly not of the same nature as the previous events.
‘Was there something wrong with this project?’
After a while, Little Deeny’s said to Su Yang, “Master, I checked the project out and there’s no problem. The information checks out with what Tang Dafa said, and there are no differences. It’s an S-grade project in AIC, and there are many additional contracts signed. It has a lot of support and is well recommended.
“The actor is also a famous second-tier actor with good acting skills. The script is indeed written by a well-known screenwriter, and the risk is very small.”
‘Huh? Is it such a great project?’
Was he and Deeny thinking too much? Did Tang Dafa really just want to include him in this project because Tang Dafa thought he was a second generation wealthy person?
Once doubt was seeded in one’s heart, it couldn’t be dispelled.
So although this movie project was good, Su Yang somehow felt that there was something fishy about it so he took out the [Memory Labyrinth Hourglass] from the pocket dimension and played with it in his hand as he returned to the table.
When he returned to the table, the food was already served on the table, and Tang Dafa smiled while waving to him. “Come, let’s eat first.”
Su Yang smiled and replied courteously. “Okay.”
As he spoke, he sat down and casually fastened the hourglass on the table.
As the hourglass was fastened to the table, everything went still as space began to distort and spin rapidly. Then... everything entered Su Yang’s eyes.
For a moment, Su Yang entered the memory realm of Tang Dafa.
Arriving at the memory realm, Su Yang didn’t delay much and rummaged backward to find memories related to this project.
Soon, he found this part of the memory.
After reading it, Su Yang was even more puzzled.
In Tang Dafa’s memory, there was indeed a memory of discussing this project with his friend. What he said was true. The project had very little risk, and once it was profitable, it would return him his money several times over.
The friend himself was planning to invest in the project but Tang Dafa used favors and added some other benefits in exchange for this portion of the investment.
However, this investment wasn’t three million as he claimed. It would only cost one and a half million! That was Su Yang’s 1.5 million!
Su Yang was a bit confused. Was Tang Dafa a good guy, and did he and Deeny overthink it?
He continued to look backward, and the next memory was still coherent. However, after getting in the car, Tang Dafa finally revealed his true intentions...
