Chapter 874 - Publicity
There was nothing wrong with what she said.
After all, there was just too much uncertainty within the film industry. No one could produce quality movies and ensure that it was a hit every time.
Forget a newbie in the film industry like Su Yang, even the famous directors and producers could not strike gold every single time.
Furthermore, Su Yang had only acted in or invested in this movie before. However, he ended up being at the peak of his career right from the get go, but there was a high chance that he would go downhill after that. Therefore, no one knew if Su Yang could reach the peak again after that.
Coupled with the fact that everyone did not have much interaction with Su Yang, no one replied in the group.
When the actress saw that no one was replying to her, she thought that everyone had been stunned and became even more despicable. She texted... ‘I’m going to just come right out and say it. If Mr. Su’s next movie can still be a big hit at the box office or have a good reputation, I’ll live-stream and apologize to him.
‘The way I see it, Mr. Su won’t be able to do it.
‘To be honest, I think Mr. Su is doing pretty well in the capital industry. Didn’t he just attack Japan’s stock market?
‘He should just continue to earn money overseas and then return to the country with the money to invest in movies for us to act in. Doesn’t he know that it’s tiring to act in movies on his own. He should just be like Mr. Ma and hire a few famous actors to have some fun.’
Seeing that she was getting more and more overboard, the person in the group could not stand it anymore. ‘How shameless can you be to demand for Mr. Su to go overseas just to earn money and invest in your movie? Do you think you are worthy?
‘Is your family built on gold? Is that where your worth is coming from?
‘Why can’t Mr. Su act in a movie? Can’t it be his interest?
‘What’s there to be jealous about? It doesn’t matter if Mr. Su got nominated for the Chinese Bell Awards because of his movie or not, the fact is that he did get nominated, which shows that the official organizations have recognized his talents. Didn’t he also spend money to film the movie?
‘Why are you being so jealous about it? How old are you right now? Do you have any representative works of your own?’
This retort left the eccentric actress speechless.
That’s right. In terms of the movie industry’s results, Su Yang was still the best. The movie that he starred in was first in the box office, and the movie that he invested in, produced, and produced was ranked first in history, in the top 30.
Especially with his age, it made people speechless.
However, the keyboard warrior princess always managed to find her own logic, so she retorted. ‘Must I know how to make fridges just because I comment about one? Can’t I express my opinion?
‘Is Mr. Su able to see you s*cking up to him here? If you really have that capability, come one and have me blacklisted from the industry then.’
After texting that, she added... ‘Anyway, I’m saying this right now. Su Yang will definitely not be able to invest or act in another movie with a box office that surpasses “Wandering Planet”. This is going to be his best performance. Otherwise, I’ll live stream myself running around naked.’
Her words made everyone in the group laugh.
“Wandering Planet” was a huge production of a locally produced sci-fi film. It had the highest box office in the domestic movie history. It had the highest box office in the global movie history. It had directly doubled the domestic movie’s box office.
To be able to produce such a legendary movie in one’s lifetime would be enough.
Who could still hope for a second movie?
As the director and producer of this movie, Su Yang was destined to leave his name in history.
For a movie like this, not to mention a year, even if it was 10 or 20 years, it was still unknown whether another movie could break its record. After all, the Titanic had dominated the box office for more than 10 years!
Therefore, when they saw what she had said, everyone knew that she was not someone who could accept criticism and would be shameless in the end. Therefore, they did not mind and smiled at their phones.
After all, it was just like what this actress had said, the group they were in was too low-class. It was just a gathering place for people who were at the edge of the film industry. Hence, even if she spread a dozen of her messages, it might not even reach Su Yang’s ears..
Therefore, there was no point arguing about this in the group.
However... Although they did not argue, they remembered how weird this actress was and felt that she was either a brainless or scheming woman.
Furthermore, she might have other intentions for defaming Su Yang...
Therefore, they thought it was best not to provoke her.
At the same time, Su Yang was chatting with Wu Feng about the movie.
As the movie was about to be released, Wu Feng became more and more nervous. After all, there was no director who did not want the main lead to produce results, but the uncertainty in the film industry was too great. No one knew whether it would become popular or not, so Wu Feng was really nervous.
Su Yang tried his best to console him as well. “Don’t worry, Brother Wu. Your movie will be fine. Even if you don’t believe in yourself, you should trust my judgment.”
Wu Feng gave a bitter laugh and sighed. “Sigh, I’ll never make these stupid movies again. The pressure on my heart is too great. I’ve decided to take a break and go hiking after this movie is released.”
Su Yang asked, “Hiking? Is there a mountain in the Imperial Capital?”
Wu Feng said, “No, I plan to climb the Himalayan snow mountain and challenge my limits.”
Su Yang was speechless.
“Brother Wu, you should reconsider and not make any rash decisions. If anything happens to you, what will happen to your wife and child?
“Do you want your hard-earned money to be spent by another man? Plus, he’s going to be spending your money, sleeping in your house, and maybe even beating up your child. Just thinking about it makes me angry!”
Wu Feng was speechless.
‘Seriously...
‘Aren’t you thinking too far ahead already!?’
Wu Feng’s mood improved after Su Yang’s impromptu banter. Of course, the other reason why he felt better was that he felt that his Brother Su had not changed at all.
Sometimes, the reason why many friends and brothers went their separate ways was not because they were in trouble or someone was in trouble, but because they were rich.
When two people who were familiar with each other’s identities suddenly boarded a helicopter and started to develop rapidly, the person who was’ abandoned ‘would feel complicated emotions. He would feel happy, inferior, and hesitant.
And now, through his conversation with Su Yang, Wu Feng did not feel any change in their relationship. Therefore, he heaved a sigh of relief.
However, after he heaved a sigh of relief, he started to mock himself. No matter how well Su Yang developed, was there any difference to him? His net worth of 100 billion yuan and Su Yang’s net worth of 1 trillion yuan were both unattainable figures to him.
‘What’s there for me to lament about?’
At the thought of this, he let go of his worries and asked Su Yang about his schedule. He asked if Su Yang wanted to collaborate with him to promote the movie.
Su Yang’s next plan was to promote “Wolf Warriors 2” and strive to complete his Gold Mission in one go. However, he did not want to participate in it himself.
But thinking about it, there didn’t seem to be anything else going on recently. Furthermore, he was very popular at that moment. Hence, if he participated in it, he might be able to increase the box office sales of “Wolf Warriors 2”. Therefore, Su Yang hesitated for a moment before agreeing to it.
However, he also said that he was busy, so he only participated in one promotion. It was to show his face and stand on the platform. He would not participate in the rest.
On the other end of the line, Wu Feng happily agreed. Then he asked, “Would you be able to spare two to three days?”
Su Yang pondered for a moment before replying, “Not a problem.”
Wu Feng said, “Then... Why don’t we join a variety show?”
Su Yang asked, “Can we make it in time for the publicity?”
Wu Feng laughed and said, “Of course. Don’t worry. With your current status and influence in the country, you can make any request you want to participate in any program.
“Let’s cut the queue and let the TV station give priority to the broadcast. We can definitely make it.”
Su Yang did not mind anymore. “Alright then, I’ll leave it to you to make the arrangements. Remember to check with the publicity department. If there’s no problem, just send me the itinerary.”
Wu Feng said, “Alright.”
Three days passed in the blink of an eye. Wu Feng sent his schedule to Su Yang. It was a variety show called “Life In The Mushroom House”. The main content was about four permanent MCs who would live in the mountains or in the countryside. Then, they would entertain their guests, chat, and play games.
Until now, this program had already recorded two seasons, and it was currently recording and broadcasting the third season.
Over the past three seasons, this variety show’s reputation and viewership ratings were quite good. It had a large group of die-hard fans, and it also had a lot of social influence.
Su Yang guessed that the reason why Wu Feng chose this variety show was probably because it could show the character of the guests. Coupled with Su Yang’s natural popularity and the introduction of “Wandering Planet”, it could bring about a lot of publicity for “Wolf Warriors 2”.
In order to make this episode stand out, Wu Feng even specially went to look for Tan Mei and got Lin Jiali, who had a guest appearance in both “Wolf Warriors 2” and “Wandering Planet”, to join as well. They formed a three-man team and then went to participate in the program together.
Since the corporation had already approved this plan, it meant that there wouldn’t be too much of a problem with the plan. Therefore, Su Yang only took a few glances at it and set up a reminder.
A week later, Su Yang met up with Wu Feng and Lin Jiali. Together with half a flight of staff, they flew to Xishuangbanna.
Both the production team of “Life In The Mushroom House” and Hunan TV placed great importance on Su Yang’s visit.
One had to know that Su Yang was not just an actor, director, and producer. He was also a big shot in the film industry, a top tycoon in the country, and a famous tycoon internationally. Furthermore, he had just completed the feat of conquering an entire country.
To be honest, such a person should be attending conferences such as national banquets and international exchanges, not a variety show.
Participating in a variety show would actually lower his status.
Initially, the company had been discussing this plan for a long time and almost got into a fight.
In the end, it was Li Zijun who made the decision.
From Li Zijun’s point of view, as society progressed, people became more open-minded, and the position of the rich and powerful gradually changed.
For example, in the past, the tycoons had always been hiding behind the scenes, looking down on the world. Now, they had gradually come to the stage and had their own persona, using it to promote the company’s image.
Just like the western tycoons, they would participate in talk shows, reality shows, and tweets to interact with other people. For example, in recent years, the local tycoons, be it Mr. Ma, Qiang Dong, or Lei Jun, had been actively socializing with the public.
This was the need for development.
Everyone needed a rich and powerful man.
And the company also needed a rich man like that as a brand name.
This was much more effective than hiring a hundred celebrities.
Su Yang, on the other hand, was too mysterious and powerful in the eyes of ordinary people. This was not good for the development of the corporation and Su Yang’s image.
Therefore, it was a good thing to show up at the right time and live close to the public to show them what Su Yang was like.
Furthermore, given Su Yang’s current age and his identity as an actor, it would not be surprising for him to participate in a variety show.
On the contrary, people would be curious as to what Su Yang was like in life, and how did he complete his legendary experiences?
Of course, after making the decision, the company did not let their guard down. They contacted Hunan, Yun Nan’s publicity department, Hunan’s SARFT, and Hunan TV, requesting for several parties to follow up on the recording, guarantee security, and review the post-production editing.
A few related departments quickly agreed. When Su Yang arrived at Yunnan, where Mushroom House was located, a few big shots from the related departments were already waiting there. Even the big shots from Yunnan, Hunan TV, who were in charge of publicity, personally came over.
Su Yang did not know whether to laugh or cry when he saw that he had caused such a huge commotion.
‘I just want to promote the movie, but why do they make it sound like I’m 0going overseas for an interview?’
However, how would he know that his current status in the country was already incomparable?
Even though his achievements could not be affirmed publicly due to international influence, the country had privately acknowledged his actions.
As a result, everyone knew that Su Yang’s status was extraordinary and they did not dare to treat him lightly.
Furthermore, everyone knew that Su Yang had both money and a company at that moment. This was an attraction to the big shots in various places. If they could attract Su Yang to build a subsidiary company, they might receive a few hundred million yuan in taxes.
Therefore, it was not without reason that his participation in a variety show attracted so much attention.
Even though he did not know how to react when he saw so many people coming to welcome him, these people had good intentions after all. Su Yang had no choice but to have a meal with them.
When they were having their meal, all the bosses gave Su Yang toasts one after another, praising him and curry his favor. In fact, Su Yang almost got carried away.
At the end of the meal, Su Yang felt a little emotional about the life of a tycoon. If he did not get complimented every day, he would be truly determined. He still had a long way to go.
Just like that, Su Yang successfully arrived at the mushroom house after entertaining these big shots. The people who welcomed him were all members of the mushroom house.
After putting down the items, the few regular MCs brought Su Yang to browse through the mushroom house. Su Yang also started to get familiar with the four of them.
One was the gentle and sincere Teacher He, the other was the elegant and smooth Teacher Huang, and there was also the eccentric older brother Peng Peng, and the quiet younger sister Zifeng.
The few of them had different personalities, and they had a strange chemistry together.
After browsing through the mushroom house, the few of them came to the courtyard and started chatting, enjoying the comfortable afternoon.
Su Yang sat on the chair and looked at the scenery outside. He drank the tea that Teacher Huang brewed. He was very quiet. Wu Feng was beside him and was chatting with Peng Tian and Lin Jiali with Zifeng.
In the end, it was Teacher He who went after Su Yang first.
“Mr. Su, you’ve been here for so long, but I still haven’t congratulated you on “Wandering Planet” breaking 5 billion yuan at the box office and becoming number one in the history of film.”
Su Yang came back to his senses and took a sip of tea. He smiled and said, “It’s a good thing that you’re congratulating me now. Otherwise, you might not be congratulating me in a few days time.”
