Chapter 273 Teasing the Boss of Longteng Jiayuan While Completing the Silver Mission!
Su Yang’s voice was heard from the earpiece, albeit a little higher in pitch, “Who’s that?” Zhao Xiao’s eagle eyes were trained at the view of the villa outside the curtainwalls of the villa as he replied with a steady voice. “I’m Zhao Xiao, the owner of Longteng Jiayuan. “Oh. No, I’m not interested in any insurance. Beep... Beep... Beep...” Zhao Xiao was speechless. After losing his mind, Zhao Xiao chuckled and dialed Su Yang’s number again. The other side of the phone once again came from Su Yang’s clear voice, “Hello? Who is it?” Zhao Xiao replied, “I’m Zhao Xiao.” Su Yang sarcastically replied, “Oh. Thanks, but I’m not interested in swimming or fitness lessons as well. Beep... Beep... Beep...” Zhao Xiao began to wonder if this guy was just really mouthy and is replying like this on purpose. However, he was patient enough to make a third call.
He didn’t even let Su Yang open his mouth the moment the call connected but he immediately said, “I know who you are, and you know who I am. So tell me, how much money are you willing to settle for.” He was forced to be direct. On the other end, Su Yang stopped for a moment and replied, “I don’t want money. I’ve got too much money now and don’t have anywhere to spend it.”
Zhao Xiao was puzzled.
He looked puzzled and confused at the same time. The death of the head of security last night had been gone over by a doctor and was determined to be an accident. However, he still rushed to the scene and interrogated the security guards about the recent events because of his cautious nature.
When the security guard spoke about Su Yang, he sensed something wrong because according to the security guards, this Su Yang was very evil and ruthless. He had injured and knocked out three security guards before, and later even disabled seven of them.
This time, the head of security called Su Yang right before the accident. As a result, he got into an accident that very night. Although these incidents didn’t directly prove that the head of security’s accident was related to Su Yang, they couldn’t find any relevant information despite checking the surveillance cameras around Longteng Jiayuan. However, Zhao Xiao’s intuition told him otherwise. It was especially so for this name. He felt like Su Yang sounded rather familiar to him so he paid more attention.
It was then that he recalled. Su Yang was the newcomer who was rumored to have ‘punched Jiang Yan’ and ‘killed Chen Ye’ in the inner circles of Shanghai.
Because of this, he got some people to conduct an investigation into Su Yang’s identity. As a result, the information he unearthed told him that Su Yang didn’t even have any kind of background. Although Zhao Xiao was suspicious and trusted his informants, he still felt nervous. He was wondering if Su Yang had some kind of shocking background that he couldn’t unearth so he wanted to reconcile with Su Yang through a call. ‘What kind of background does this Su Yang have?’ As a result, the three phone calls completely upturned all of Zhao Xiao’s initial assumptions and rhetorics.
For a moment, Zhao Xiao felt like he was speaking to a comedian.
‘Are there still people who didn’t want money but still spent money like there was no tomorrow? Was this the proverbial saying of having too much money without knowing where to spend it?
Since it was quite rare for Su Yang to stop hanging up on him, he was patient and said calmly, “You can buy a car, a house, or even a luxury item.” Su Yang merely replied, “That’s a little too... little.” Zhao Xiao was speechless. Just as he was in the midst of being at a loss for words, Su Yang suddenly said, “I’m planning on speculating in stocks. What do you think?” Zhao Xiao replied, “Yeah. I can recommend you a stock, Purple Technology.
This is a stock in the secondary market and my friend has been lurking for a long time in preparation to be speculated by people in the banks. Su Yang sounded a little surprised, “Really?” Zhao Xiao replied, “Really.” Su Yang thanked him promptly, “Thanks! Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep...” Zhao Xiao was speechless. ‘Did he hang up, again?’ Zhao Xiao squeezed the phone tightly and refrained from calling a fourth time. He looked out of the window, held the glasses on his hawk nose, and muttered, “Is this his bottom line or is there still more to it? However, as it seems right now, Old Zhang’s death really does have something to do with him. I’m going to have to prepare ahead of time.”
In the virtual space, Su Yang was looking at an interface while performing a video authentication to open a stock account after hanging up the phone.
That was right. The solution he came up with was to go into stock trading! When the system introduced the Silver Mission to him, it hinted to him that investing in a company was also considered to be a form of spending/
So, after thinking about it endlessly, he thought to himself. ‘What about stock trading? Although the stocks are in the secondary market, it’s still considered to be an investment in a company. Would that count?’
While he was pondering, Zhao Xiao called him. Since Su Yang had his mind set on completing the Silver Mission, he didn’t want to pay attention to Zhao Xiao despite knowing who he was.
After all, Zhao Xiao was already dead to him so what was the point of talking to a dead man? He was just a liar and after adding points to himself, he could just go over and immediately take him out. He didn’t expect that Zhao Xiao would treat him so well to actually tell him about a stock that he could make money on. In Su Yang’s mind, this was one of the measures he set up before calling him. After all, he’d probably expose any and all secrets around him if he were to die.
With that, he’d make sure that he’d show Zhao Xiao a good time when he eventually takes him out.
After opening an account for stocks online, Su Yang clumsily followed the steps and clicked a button on the software. Then, he logged on, thought about it, and searched for the stock counter for Purple Technology, and added it to his chosen stocks.
Once the account was opened and the stocks were selected, Su Yang began to teach himself to buy some stocks. However, he didn’t buy a lot since he didn’t know the rules. So, he added 10,000 yuan to his account and bought 10,000 yuan of China Construction Bank’s stocks.
Although he was very green when it came to stocks, even a newbie knew that banking counters were lower risk compared to the rest. He wasn’t a fool. Why would he buy into a counter his enemy recommended? Who would know if there were any traps set up for him? After all, this was just an experiment to buy stocks and see if it counted toward his Silver Mission. So, he just took a chance and bought whatever he wanted.
[20 seconds later, the transaction was complete and a notification sounded in Su Yang’s ears. Then, a prompt appeared in front of him. (Possible cheating detected.]
Su Yang shook his head. ‘I guess it doesn’t work.’
[Just as he was about to give up on buying stocks to complete his Silver Mission, a prompt popped up in front of him. (Short-term investment detected. Should funds be locked-in for more than 15 days, it’ll count toward the Silver Mission.] ‘What’s a lock-in? Can it get the job done?!’ Su Yang brightened up. ‘But... what is it?’ Su Yang went online and looked up the definition of a lock-in. ‘Ah, so I can’t sell the stock for fifteen days?’ Su Yang calculated. ‘If the stock falls by 10% a day, it’ll fall 70% at most after fifteen days. That’s not too bad.
‘However, if I put it into banking counters, it’ll probably lose only 10% with the fluctuation of banking counters.’ Su Yang felt like that was an acceptable risk to him. ‘Let’s do it!
However, despite managing to buy some stocks, Su Yang still looked for other ways to manage his money. He attempted to go into money market funds, a reverse takeover of government bonds, fixed deposits, gold, and more. Aside from gold, which also had a 15-day lock-in period, other financial instruments were all considered to be cheating by the system. Tormented by the thought, Su Yang tried to calm himself down. ‘It seems like buying stocks will still be the most reliable way.’ Although he didn’t understand the criteria for the system to judge something as a method of cheating, completing the task was good. So, he decided to use the stock market to ‘launder’ his money. He’d put 5 million into the stock market and lock it up for half a month. Then, he’d take it out and liquidate it into cash. The plan was beautiful. ‘However... If I really did put 5 million into the market, am I going to let the market decide if I’m going to make or lose money?’ Su Yang was a little reluctant.
After thinking about it, Su Yang felt like he had to consult somebody who understood what he was planning. So, he held his phone and went into Little Deeny’s room.
As he pushed the door open, he saw Little Deeny kneeling on the floor. She was facing the front with her chest out and back arched. Her hands were holding her heels behind her back as she remained in that position quietly with eyes closed. It made her look like an arch in the shape of a capital D. In front of her was a screen suspended in mid-air with a line of code seemingly typed at lightning speed. It seemed like she was doing the same thing she did in the past. She was doing yoga while studying her artificial intelligence system. Based on his previous experience, Su Yang refrained from disturbing Little Deeny. Instead, he waited in silence.
Surely enough, Little Deeny opened her eyes, and he saw blue streams of data flowing through her eyes. Still, a lovely smile blossomed on her face as she saw Su Yang. “Master, did you want to see me for something?” Su Yang walked up to her and showed her the interface. “I’m about to trade stocks, and I wanted to ask if you can operate it.” Little Deeny looked at the interface several times and said, “I can operate it. I have a super-fast processor now so it’s much faster than ordinary people that speculate the stock market.”
She thought about it and suggested, “Why don’t I separate a core processor and dedicate it to your stock trading and daily life?” Su Yang asked, “Won’t it affect your development of the artificial intelligence?” Little Deeny nodded. “It’ll have an impact but it shouldn’t be that significant. After all, you don’t speculate the stock market at every waking moment.”
Su Yang felt like it made sense.
Then, Su Yang asked, “Do you know anything about stocks? Do you have any idea about stocks that could go up?”
This time, Little Deeny shook her head. “This, I don’t understand. If the artificial intelligence is developed and I can conduct analysis on a large enough dataset, I should be able to extract the probability chart of a particular counter going up or down. However, it isn’t at that stage yet.”
Su Yang began hesitating. ‘Did I really about to put 5 million into the stock market for half a month and let fate take its course?’
At that moment, Little Deeny said, “Master, why don’t you go and ask Little Hus? Doesn’t it have [Opportunity Sniffing]? it might be able to help you.” Su Yang brightened up. ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ With Little Deeny’s pointers, Su Yang found Little Hus. The little guy was in the dog kennel holding an interface. On it was a picture of Janet.
Su Yang felt that he was hopeless. Su Yang brought Little Hus to the living room, opened the interface of the stock market, and asked it if it could sniff out the rise and fall of the stocks. Little Hus twitched his nose, sniffed for a while, and replied, “Yes, I can... However, the scent is too weird! It changes too quickly. One moment, it’s there. Then, it’s gone! I’ve never encountered this kind of scent before, and it’s all over the place!” ‘Uhh... What’s going on?’
[Su Yang thought about it, picked a separate stock, and let Little Hus have a go at it. However, nothing changed. ‘Doesn’t this work?’ Su Yang figured that it was probably because the stock market was a zero-sum game. Through every minute and second, there were changes in the stock markets. There could be changes in the entire market at any moment which explained why Little Hus’ (Opportunity Sniffing] was a little out of whack. He immediately said, “Why don’t you just choose for me according to the strength of the scent.” Su Yang felt like he shouldn’t have to think too much about it. After all, his goal was to complete the Silver Mission so just making a small profit would be good enough.
After getting the order from Su Yang, Little Hus went through hundreds of stocks one after the other and finally, it selected 20 of them which had the strongest scent for Su Yang. Su Yang selected a few stocks from the list of 20 that had a low market capitalization, P/E ratio, and risk profile. Then, he made an order through Little Deeny’s core processor.
“Try buying them in batches at a lower price.”. After receiving the order, the core processor began to rapidly operate. Time passed, and as the remaining 4.59 million of the silver mission bought the corresponding stocks in batches, a system prompt finally sounded in Su Yang’s mind. [Beep! 15 days of mandatory lockout succeeded. ‘Silver mission: Spend All 10 million’ completed. Please take a look at the rewards.]
Finally, he completed the second Silver Mission.
