Chapter 753 - New Function: Grant & Deprive
Su Yang’s press conference had completely redefined the technology of cellphones.
After so much publicity from Shanghai TV Station and the local media, the press conference spread throughout the country that day.
Hence, China was now a well-known country in the world, and it was currently one of the top few countries globally. Therefore, the appearance of such an amazing company immediately attracted the attention of the entire world.
Thus, the foreign media immediately followed up and made a report about the press conference, causing news about Su Yang to spread overseas.
Even though this press conference was not as popular internationally, it still attracted the attention of many tech giants and countries.
In particular, Su Yang announced many technological breakthroughs at the press conference. All the tech companies and forces in the world flocked to him, wanting to contact him.
They either tried to rope him in, bribe him, get rid of him or investigate him. In any case, their only objective was to get in touch with Su Yang.
In the end...
Su Yang seemed to have vanished right after the press conference that day and no one could find him.
In fact, no one answered his calls or even replied to the text messages sent to him. Other than a few large companies that were still operating normally, the milk tea shop and health supplements company that he had first established were all closed.
Hence, this raised many doubts and concerns.
The local forces suspected that Su Yang was kidnapped by foreign forces.
At the same time, the foreign forces suspected that Su Yang was locked up by the local authorities.
In any case, everyone was racking their brains to look for Su Yang.
However, no matter how hard they searched, they could not find any records of Su Yang leaving the country or where he was within the country.
‘Where has Su Yang gone?’
At that moment, it became a topic that was even more touching than Su Yang’s company that had so much advanced technology.
Apart from that, in a certain nursing home in Shanghai, a guest from afar had just arrived here at that moment.
He was a man in his 50s or 60s who was surrounded by bodyguards and wearing a Chinese tunic suit as he walked into the villa.
In the living room, an old man with white hair and a face full of wrinkles was waiting..
The man in a Chinese tunic suit came to the living room and bowed to the old man. “Elder Jiang.”
That old man was Jiang Chi’s grandfather, the pillar of the entire Jiangs and an authoritative figure in the country, Old Master Jiang.
Old Master Jiang opened his slightly drooping eyelids and pressed his aged hand down. “Have a seat.”
The man in the Chinese tunic suit nodded and sat on the sofa. Other than one bodyguard standing at the door, the rest were waiting outside the villa.
Old Master Jiang then glanced at the bodyguards and a hint of nostalgia flashed in his eyes, as if he was reminiscing his past.
After a while, he retracted his gaze and looked at the man in the Chinese tunic suit and asked, “You’re here for Jiadian Technology, aren’t you?”
The man nodded. “This company seems to be related to your family, is it not?”
Old Master Jiang closed his eyes, took off his glasses, and nodded slightly. “It was arranged by my child. I’m very satisfied with the results.”
Instantly, the man’s expression froze.
Then, he said tentatively, “Many of the technologies in that company are ahead of its time. Once we...”
Old Master Jiang then raised his hand slightly and interrupted the man in the Chinese tunic suit before he slowly said, “I know, but they are from this country and will not do anything to betray the country.
“After all, children will grow up and have their own ideas.
“So, let’s give them some time.
“They will not disappoint us.”
With that, Old Master Jiang waved his hand. “You may return now and say that I wast the one who said all those words just now. I’ll bear responsibility for anything that happens to this company.”
Hearing Old Master Jiang’s words, the man in the Chinese tunic suit nodded and stopped talking.
Then, he stood up and bowed slightly to Old Master Jiang before saying, “I shall take my leave then, rest well.”
With that, he left the villa with his bodyguards.
After the man in the Chinese tunic suit left, Old Master Jiang opened his eyes and sighed softly. He said to the inner room with some affection in his tone, “Come on out... Are you satisfied now?”
The door opened and Jiang Yan walked out.
Her expression softened like a little girl as she walked to Old Master Jiang’s sofa and said, “Thank you, Grandpa.”
Old Master Jiang didn’t say anything but looked at Jiang Yan.
After a while, Old Master Jiang closed his eyes and sighed. “It’s you who’s convinced me. So, I’m also willing to protect such a genius for a period of time.
“But, you have to promise that no matter what, you cannot betray this country and this race.”
Jiang Yan nodded seriously. “Yes, Grandpa!”
Seeing Jiang Yan nod, Old Master Jiang stopped talking and waved his hand. “You should leave too. I want to be alone for a while.”
“Okay, Grandpa.” Jiang Yan didn’t dare to talk anymore. She bowed deeply to Old Master Jiang and strode out of the villa.
Arriving at the villa, Jiang Yan was lost in her thoughts as she watched the white car drive away. She could not help but recall the phone call Su Yang gave her two days ago.
“Young Master Jiang, the glass phone has been announced. So, you should’ve seen it already, am I right?
“Be it in China or abroad, I’m sure there must be a lot of people targeting our company at the moment.
“I’m not worried if they decide to resort to some underhanded tactics. However, I am worried if they do decide to do the opposite.
“After all, I do have many secrets that I cannot reveal.
“However, I can guarantee that I will be loyal to our country and our people for the rest of my life.
“So, give me time. With time, I will definitely be able to change our country and the world.
“For that to happen, I need you to help me resolve all of the matters on the surface...”
Retracting her gaze, Jiang Yan looked down and muttered to herself, “Su Yang, my grandfather bet his entire life on your protection just so you can lead the country to become the world’s number one. Make sure you don’t disappoint him...”
With that said, Jiang Yan could not help but think of Su Yang’s amazing product, the glass phone, the oral fluid, and the bone-conduction earphones. For some reason, I feel that perhaps Su Yang can really do what he claims he wants to do...’
After the man in the Chinese tunic suit went back, that night, the 7:30pm news program broadcasted a clip of the press conference held by Jiadian.
The clip was a full two and a half minutes with Su Yang standing on the screen for two minutes, and in the news, they were praising Jiadian Group as the leader of the new technology.
Once this signal was sent out, all the forces in the country who were waiting for the news immediately understood that Jiadian Group had passed the country’s review and had recognized it, thus providing the company with a platform.
Most of the forces in the country immediately stopped fighting and did not dare to have any ideas about Su Yang anymore. The trend in the corporate world was also very fast. The people who were originally staying in Shanghai with the intention of breaking the news and obtaining intel had changed into people who were seeking cooperation.
The other countries also confirmed their speculation that the company had the will of the country behind it. Hence, they withdrew their scouts and continued to discuss countermeasures.
They wanted to find a suitable countermeasure to deal with this wave of attacks from the East, which were all part of Su Yang’s plan.
Actually, long before he had gone to Socot Island, he had already made plans for everything. He had gambled that his value was very high, high enough to move the country. He had also gambled that the leader of the country would still be wholeheartedly devoted to the country.
And... He won the bet.
After winning the bet, Su Yang received his system’s fourth upgrade on the island.
[System upgrade complete. Please open the system.]
“Finally, the upgrade is complete!” Su Yang, who had been tricked by Little Hus, Gru, and Dagger Girl for a few days, almost cried when he saw the countdown turn to zero.
After a few days of living as if he was in Hell, he decided... ‘I’m going to give the little monsters some pocket money in the future. Otherwise, I’d be the one getting hurt!
‘Who in the world would’ve thought that... A plate of [Qing Zhu In Red (Chili Oil Bamboo Shoots)] would actually cost 1,888 yuan!
‘Who would’ve thought that... A plate of Spicy Fei Fei (Spicy Rabbit Meat) would actually cost 888 yuan!
‘Who would’ve thought that... [Barbecue Gru (Barbequed Meat On Skewers)] would actually cost 16,666 yuan!
‘These prices are even worse than the prawns sold in Qingdao!
‘I might as well just give them pocket money instead!’
At that thought, Su Yang opened the system and checked the changes after the upgrade.
[System+4: Maximum Point Limit for all kinds of items and abilities +1. Store upgraded to Ultimate Store. Grant and Deprive functions activated.]
‘Compared to the previous system upgrade, the system doesn’t seem to have changed much this time.
‘Now that the store has leveled up again, I believe that there will be plenty of good stuff inside.
‘Other than that, there are two new functions as well, [Grant] and [Deprive]...
‘I wonder what they do?’
With this question in mind, Su Yang turned on the system. He wanted to see what these two new functions were.
When he opened the system interface, the system had become much more exquisite. If the UI that was originally a locally produced mobile game was considered exquisite, then it should have reached the level of a standalone game.
On the right side of the system interface, below [Decomposition and Fusion], there were two new functions, [Grant] and [Deprive].
Hence, Su Yang clicked on the [Grant] function.
In the end, he realized that this function allows him to grant little monsters his Silver Abilities, but only one monster is able to receive an ability.
Su Yang then checked the abilities that he could bestow. There was the [Eye of Origin], [Hands Of Fate], [Absolute Verbal Contract], and so on...
All the abilities that he had obtained were shown.
Then, Su Yang opened up the list of little monsters he could use [Grant] on.
In the end, he realized that other than the Little Monster Beans, the Quickgold Monster, and the Snow Monsters, he could bestow abilities to all the other little monsters.
‘But, why can’t the Little Monster beans and the Quickgold Monsters accept my abilities though?’
Su Yang was puzzled.
He thought about it for a while and felt that this might be because the other monsters were all [individuals], while the Quickgold Monster and Little Monster Bean were [races].
‘Could it be possible that little monsters’ races are different from individuals?
‘Can I not use [Grant] on one particular Quickgold Monster or Little Monster Bean?’
At that thought, Su Yang tried it and realized that it was indeed impossible...
Before Su Yang could figure out what was going on, he could only keep this matter to himself for the time being. He planned to think about the differences between the two later on.
After reading the [Grant] function, Su Yang clicked on another new function of the system, [Deprive].
Opening the interface for [Deprive], Su Yang realized that it was a very simple interface with nothing inside except for a light blue [X].
Then, Su Yang tapped on the [X] in front of him and a notification popped up.
[This function can deprive little monsters or special items of their abilities. After depriving them of their abilities, you will obtain the corresponding “ability core”, but it will not harm the little monster or the special item. The “ability core” obtained can be used on oneself or other little monsters for a period of 1 to 366 days.]
Su Yang was stunned.
‘This function... It seems amazing.
‘I could use this as a trump card. If I were to encounter any little monsters that betray me or do something overboard just because they have abilities... I can instantly deprive them of their abilities!
‘However, this...
‘Seems quite useless as well.
‘After all, I’m such a brilliant, handsome, and suave person. So, how could any of my little monsters or special items betray me?
‘Of course, this can also be an insurance for me.
‘The next time I encounter a crazy monster like the Clown Sea Serpent, I would directly strip them of their abilities and make them feel like a normal person!
‘In addition, other than being a life-saving trump card, I could also use it to give myself and the little monsters some special abilities.
‘Like... The [Teddy Bear That Loves To Play Hide-And Seek].
‘That thing is scary and dangerous, but it’s also very useful for assassination.
‘Normally, I would just leave it at home, afraid that it would be accidentally used by some little fool.
‘However, I feel that it would be a waste to decompose it.
‘In that case, I could very well take away its ability and give it to other little monsters.
‘Such as... The Clown Sea Serpent?
‘I wonder how that guy’s doing after he’s gone to Central Asia to stir up trouble. However, I trust that it must be tough for him to survive in the hail of bullets.
‘If he could obtain the toy bear’s ability, it would be very helpful for him to complete our plan!’
Hence, Su Yang memorized this thought silently. He was prepared to test it out after he finished researching the system and see if he could make use of it.
After checking the two new functions, Su Yang opened the upgraded store.
Every time the system upgraded, the store would have the biggest impact on Su Yang’s future development.
For example, after the first upgrade, he could buy Random Points and make weekly recipes items.
Then, after the second upgrade, he was able to buy Random Prize Vouchers and Lucky Stones, etc.
Now that it was the third time the system had been upgraded, Su Yang hoped that the store could give him a surprise.
Sure enough, when Su Yang opened the store, it had a new makeover.
The originally hexagonal shape had now turned into a nine-palace grid.
However, the only difference this store had to an actual nine-palace grid was that only eight of the panels were selectable, while the panel in the center only had one word written in it, [Store].
Su Yang was cursing the system for being stingy, scheming and shameless as he looked at the few panels.
The first six squares were no different from before. They were still filled with [Random Points], [Bronze Points], [Guardian Talismans], [Lucky Stones], [Recipe Items], and [Random Prize Vouchers].
The only change seemed to be that the “random” element for [Random Prize Voucher] was only limited to the type of prize vouchers and not the time. This was because the panel clearly stated that the refresh time was once a month.
Apart from that, Inside the panel laid a silvery-white prize voucher.
