Lin Chuan murmured softly.
The Little Landlady swallowed a gulp, "Kill someone, set a fire?"
Lin Chuan gave a sheepish smile, "With the mood and the setting, I couldn’t help but say it."
Sigh—
The Little Landlady took a deep breath and then headed back to her room, "I’m going to change clothes and go with you."
"Go where?"
Lin Chuan frowned slightly.
"Aren’t you planning to take action? I’ve practiced fighting for a long time, I’m not the weakling I used to be. I can totally help and fight alongside you against that Yu Qin!" The Little Landlady pumped herself up.
"There’s no need to go out," Lin Chuan shook his head.
"How can we take action if we don’t go out?" The Little Landlady was a bit confused, looking intently at Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan pulled the Little Landlady back to the sofa.
Then he picked up the mobile phone on the table, opened the contacts list, scrolled to the number listed as ’Shen Qianqian,’ a private number, and pressed dial.
Beep, beep, beep.
After three rings, the call connected.
Lin Chuan looked at the Little Landlady, smiled, and said into the phone, "Hello, is this ’Police Number’?"
"Comrade Lin Chuan, this is Shen Qianqian, a professional criminal detective at Anling Police Station. Are you experiencing any problems or emergencies?"
On the other end, Shen Qianqian cooperated with Lin Chuan’s act.
The Little Landlady breathed a slight sigh of relief.
So, the ’action’ Lin Chuan spoke of was calling the police.
Just now, her heart had leapt to her throat.
While Lin Chuan gently stroked the Little Landlady’s dark, glossy hair, he continued, "Officer Shen, I have important information to report to Anling Police Station. Are you able to contact the detachment leader or the director right now?"
In Anling Police Station.
Shen Qianqian, who was on duty, pursed her lips and smiled, "Did you choose the time knowing they have a meeting tonight?"
Lin Chuan replied, "I didn’t know!"
"I thought you had received some news. They are in a meeting right now." Shen Qianqian looked up at the clock inside the room, 22:38, "It should be almost over. Do you have any major incident?"
"Not really big, just obtained some information and partial itinerary of one of the heads of a major Southeast Asian criminal syndicate," Lin Chuan said nonchalantly.
"That’s not something big..."
Shen Qianqian suddenly realized, "What did you just say?"
"Officer Shen, you just said you are a professional criminal detective, and the content of this call must remain confidential throughout, so try not to be too startled," Lin Chuan lectured with an experienced tone.
Shen Qianqian’s face turned a slight red, "I’ll go to the director right away!"
"Don’t rush, take it slow, they won’t run away."
Lin Chuan laughed.
Just as Shen Qianqian was about to dash to the police station’s conference room at the speed of a hundred-meter sprint, she slowed down upon hearing Lin Chuan’s words, "Comrade Lin Chuan, thank you."
"Thank me for what?"
"Thank you for providing valuable clues to the police station!" Shen Qianqian said earnestly, then whispered, "And thank you for calling me."
She knew Lin Chuan not only had contact numbers for Captain Hu Daqiang and Director Zhang Biao.
But he had chosen to call her.
What did that imply?
Shen Qianqian believed that Lin Chuan was intentionally trying to support her.
As it turned out,
Shen Qianqian was overthinking things.
Lin Chuan simply felt he was more familiar with Shen Qianqian, and given the time, suddenly calling Hu Daqiang or Zhang Biao might seem a bit presumptuous, due to less frequent contact.
As for the implications, Lin Chuan hadn’t thought too much about it.
Anling Police Station, the conference room.
Director Zhang, wearing a black jacket, had a few more strands of white hair at his temples.
He looked around, the room was filled with detachment leaders, each one of them with noticeably heavy bags under their eyes.
During this period, the police station had been busy investigating the leak incident.
He Song from the Drug Enforcement Team had fine blood vessels visible in his eyes.
He hadn’t had a proper rest for several days.
The reason was that his operations had been anticipated by the adversaries time after time, and every thunderous move had ended up in vain.
The police station suspected that there had been a leak.
Captain Hu Daqiang, putting down his pen, also rubbed his eyes.
There weren’t any unexpected incidents in the division he oversaw. Rubbing his eyes was purely because the bright lights in the nighttime meeting room made them feel gritty.
"Captain Hu, do you have anything to add?"
Zhang Biao looked toward Hu Daqiang.
Hu Daqiang quickly shook his head, "No, Director Zhang is right, we must enforce and implement thoroughly, inspect meticulously, not overlook any detail, and maintain strict discipline to ensure the success of our next operation!"
Zhang Biao smiled, "Captain Hu, are you feeling a bit too secure now?"
Hu Daqiang mustered a smile and chuckled, "Director, what are you talking about? I am always on call, ready to strike whenever criminals appear!"
"Even though your Criminal Investigation Division can request outside assistance, don’t relax for a moment!" Zhang Biao declared.
Hu Daqiang nodded like a pecking chicken.
The outside assistance was, undoubtedly, Lin Chuan.
Yu Shan from the Cyber Security Detachment agreed, nodding his head.
Unbeknownst to him, Zhang Biao did not let him off the hook.
"Yu Shan, your Xia from the Cyber Security Detachment has learned quite a lot of techniques, but we cannot neglect the cyber security issues. This suspected leakage incident has served as a wake-up call for us!" Zhang Biao said gravely.
Yu Shan’s expression turned serious: "Understood!"
"Alright, meeting adjourned."
Zhang Biao closed his notebook and slowly rose from his seat.
The heads of various departments inside the room also let out a sigh of relief.
Only He Song still had a stern face, his mind filled with thoughts on how to ensure that the next operation did not leak and how to capture the criminals in one fell swoop.
At that moment,
Zhang Biao walked out of the door and saw Shen Qianqian holding her mobile phone, and he greeted her with a smile and a warm tone, "Shen, you haven’t left work yet?"
This type of greeting, as if a senior was caring for a junior, made Hu Daqiang, Yu Shan, and others quite envious.
Shen Qianqian saw Director Zhang leaving the meeting room and immediately approached, "Director Zhang, there’s an emergency call!"
"What emergency call?"
Zhang Biao’s smile was splendid, his eye wrinkles becoming more pronounced.
"What kind of emergency call would require the Director’s attention? Director, you should rest. I can handle such small matters," Hu Daqiang knowing that Director Zhang had also been worn out these days due to the suspected leak.
Shen Qianqian glanced at Hu Daqiang and said with a grin, "Captain Hu, it’s a call from Lin Chuan."
"Which call shouldn’t disturb..."
Hu Daqiang was about to righteously make his case but suddenly paused, "You’re saying, Lin reported an emergency?"
Shen Qianqian nodded.
"Weird and curious. Comrade Lin not letting others call is already good enough, and now he has made a call himself," Hu Daqiang muttered and then turned to Director Zhang, "Director Zhang, this call from Comrade Lin might indicate something significant. Perhaps we should head to the Criminal Investigation Division to see what’s going on?"
True to his role as the Director and accustomed to big emergencies, Zhang Biao nodded lightly and headed toward the Criminal Investigation Division office.

Lin Chuan had contacted Zhang Biao. Find more to read at empire
"Director Zhang, my apologies for disturbing you late at night," Lin Chuan’s tone was much more serious compared to when he spoke with Shen Qianqian.
The speakerphone was on, and the three people in the office could hear everything.
Zhang Biao spoke steadily, "Comrade Lin, Shen mentioned you have an urgent situation?"
"Not to conceal from you, Director Zhang, it indeed is a critical situation. I have obtained information about one of the leaders of a major criminal group in Southeast Asia, Yu Qin of the Morgan Group who oversees the military weapons business. She and her team plan to travel from Southeast Asia to Anling to organize a significant criminal activity," Lin Chuan spoke calmly and clearly.
Suddenly, the atmosphere in the meeting room grew heavy!
Shen Qianqian had only heard bits and pieces earlier, but now, hearing it again, she felt a tremor in her soul.

On the snowy ground, the daytime bustle had been sealed away by the severe cold, leaving only footprints of varying depths that recorded the hurried steps of passersby. Under the moonlight, the snow surface emitted a faint blue glow, like a pure land untainted by the mortal world, yet its loneliness made it appear even more desolate. Occasionally, a gust of wind would whisk up fine snow particles, twirling them in the air, like silent winter spirits adding a dynamic splash of color to the tranquil night.
