Lin Chuan’s expression changed, and he became even more puzzled, “Youyou, we are just an editor and writer, it sounds strange when you say that.”
Youyou quickly explained, “Lin Chuan, you misunderstood, I’m just afraid that another editor might poach you.”
Lin Chuan chuckled dryly, “Youyou, you are overthinking, I’m a writer too inconsequential to be noticed, who would want to poach me?”
“That’s good then.”
Youyou breathed a sigh of relief, terrified that someone might steal her precious writer.
“You’re that worried?” Lin Chuan countered.
“Of course...” Youyou suddenly realized something was amiss and quickly corrected herself, “Of course not, the chief editor Mingyue asked me to keep a close eye on you and possibly arrange more recommendations for you.”
Lin Chuan raised his eyebrows slightly, his gaze deep, “That’s nice, I’ll leave the recommendations to you then.”
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
Lin Chuan smiled, “I have to go solve a case, let’s chat another time.”
Youyou steadied her nerves, “Okay.”
That day.
Lin Chuan, Shen Qianqian, and Hu Daqiang together examined the crime scenes of the previous two cases.
The examination went smoothly, and combined with the evidence gathered by the police, they quickly narrowed down the range of suspects and swiftly took action.
Anling news once again uploaded related videos.
‘Literature writer helps the police crack murder cases again!’
‘Criminal investigation genius! The crime scene is all evidence in his eyes!’
‘Unbelievable! Solves two cases in one day!’
The trending search stayed on the Kuaidou live streaming app for an entire day, the popularity soaring!
Yet Lin Chuan was concerned about his Average Subscription stats.
[Work: This Assassin Is Too Professional.]
[Current Status: Published.]
[Popularity Value (Average Subscription): 5218/3000.]
That night.
Night fell, and a fine rain drizzled down.
Outside the rental, the dim streetlight flickered through the misty rain, dreamlike. The raindrops hit the windowsill, shattering into flowers and making a ‘tick-tock’ sound, like a crisp melody playing beside Lin Chuan’s ears.
Lin Chuan listened to the music of the rainy night, taking a deep breath of the fresh air brought by the evening breeze.
In his mind, the system’s electronic voice echoed again, “Host, your Popularity Value has exceeded the ‘standard to unlock a new professional life experience.’ Would you like to experience a new professional life now?”
“Experience!”
Lin Chuan steadied himself.
Bring it on, you lousy system!
I refuse to believe I’ll get another Pure Desire Occupation!
The cool breeze brushed against Lin Chuan’s cheeks.
The system’s voice resounded once more.
[Every experience is a beautiful memory for you.]
[This system will save this memory in the form of a novel.]
[This time, the profession you’ve randomly obtained is...]
[Hacker!]
Hacker?
Hisss!
The cold night rain beat wildly against the window outside.
Lin Chuan instinctively furrowed his brows, his lips quivering slightly as he involuntarily sucked in a breath of cold air.
Hacker, that profession sounded quite thrilling!
Lin Chuan was about to curse at the system but then thought better of it, suppressing the anger in his heart.
“Don’t be angry, don’t be angry, getting sick from anger isn’t worth it, I’ll first see what kind of organization or group it’s associated with, whether it’s the illegal kind of hacker or not.”
There are different types of hackers.
Black Hat, White Hat, Grey Hat, Hacker, Red Hat.
Take Black Hat and White Hat as examples.
Black Hat specializes in studying viruses and Trojans, operating systems, looking for vulnerabilities to attack networks and computers, stealing information data, and compromising network security.
White hats specialize in researching or engaging in cybersecurity and computer technology defense, maintaining network safety, or working for internet companies, known as cybersecurity experts.
Lin Chuan thought to himself, “This time, I’ve got to wear a good hat! Otherwise, as soon as the novel is released, I’ll have to worry about being interrogated.”
It’s not like I can really end up at the police station every day, right?
When Shen Qianqian and Hu Daqiang came to pick him up for case investigation this morning, Lin Chuan overheard some elderly folks who were doing morning exercises and buying groceries talking about him.
‘Why is this kid getting arrested every day?’
‘In trouble again?’
‘He’s been arrested several times this month, hasn’t he?’
‘Nonsense, I see it’s always this female police officer who comes, maybe she’s his girlfriend.’
‘The young man is quite handsome.’
‘Staying at home every day without going out and still having such a pretty policewoman as a girlfriend? I don’t buy it.’
If I end up in the station a few more times, rumors will probably fly all over the place.
Back to “Hacker Professional Life” experience.
The system’s electronic voice rang out.
[Congratulations Host, the occupation you have randomly obtained is Hacker, and you have acquired the exclusive Hacker skill: Top Hacker Technology!]
[Using ‘Virtual Reality’ technology to create a new world for you.]
[Please be prepared, Host!]
Lin Chuan took a deep breath.
Reality and virtuality began to intertwine randomly.
Before long.
In front of Lin Chuan appeared a huge computer screen, the screen displayed complex codes and data charts, data scrolling continuously, and his hands were on the keyboard, ready to strike at any moment.
Surrounding him was a room filled with a sense of technology.
The room’s light was slightly dim, with only faint blue light strips flickering, casting the secret, dense lines of the house and various technological devices.
“This is a hacker’s studio,” Lin Chuan made his first judgment.
At that moment, a young man with a buzz cut approached, “Boss, foreign forces are continuously provoking us, using DDoS attacks that have severely reduced the performance of our servers. I suspect they plan to steal our secret data.”
Upon hearing this, Lin Chuan frowned.
He understood DDoS attacks.
It generally refers to distributed denial-of-service attacks, where the attacker controls a large number of computers and in a short time, disguises the attack as a multitude of legitimate requests, overwhelming the server’s capacity to respond.
But the buzz cut young man mentioned another key term.
Foreign forces?
“Hahaha!” Lin Chuan burst into laughter, “Finally, it’s not a Pure Desire Occupation anymore!”
Hacker?
Red Hacker!
Red Hackers often stand for justice, morality, progress, and strength, love for the country, and persistence in justice. They typically use their skills to maintain domestic network security and to counterattack against external aggressions.
This is not a career that involves illegal activities!
“Boss, are you okay?” the buzz cut young man asked with a frown.
Lin Chuan took a deep breath, calming himself down, and waved his hand, “I don’t eat Youyou plums, since foreign forces want a cyberwar, then let’s give it to them!”
“Boss, we’ve been waiting for you to say that!” the buzz cut young man’s face lit up.
Immediately.
He typed a string of code on the computer and clicked send.
The message meant: “Brothers, the boss says, let’s fight them!”
Whoosh!
Countless IPs quickly responded.
[Received!]
[Received!]
[Received!]
Lin Chuan laughed heartily, “Red Hackers, attack!”
