"I guess my question was a bit naive," Lin Chuan touched his nose.
Angelina chuckled, "However, I can disclose to you some information about Karl."
"What information?"
Lin Chuan grew curious.
"The channel of the information is not convenient to disclose," Angelina said euphemistically, "About Karl, what we currently know is that he’s not in North America, he should be in the Asian region, especially Southeast Asia."
Lin Chuan slightly furrowed his brows and tilted his head up towards the ceiling, thinking that it sounded like Karl was quite familiar with Morgan from the Morgan Group.
If he was in the Asian region, it was highly likely he had some cooperation with the Morgan Group.
"Is it convenient to reveal a bit more about when he left North America to go to Asia?" Lin Chuan was very curious about the timing of Karl’s movements.
Last time, when Karl’s organization, AW, launched an attack on him, was it in North America or Asia?
"I’m not entirely sure about the specific time, but it should be between one and two months ago."
Angelina provided a time frame.
Lin Chuan fell into silence.
Holding a cellphone in his left hand, he picked up a pen with his right and began to scribble on paper, writing things like ’Yucai Restaurant,’ ’Karl joining the company,’ ’resignation from Nanjiang Network,’ and so on.
Suddenly!
Lin Chuan’s right hand stiffened, and the pen stopped mid-air.
The time when Karl joined the 720 company and when AW’s Karl left North America overlapped a bit too conveniently!
Was it just a coincidence?
Or...
Initially, Lin Chuan only felt suspicious and took the opportunity to ask Xinxin and Angelina in pursuit of some peace of mind.
Better safe than sorry, right?
Who would have thought, with this one inquiry, the news thrown by Angelina would deepen Lin Chuan’s suspicions!
720 Karl = AW Karl?
If the equation established was true, then matters would become very interesting!
Lin Chuan’s brow knitted half-way, and his mouth curled into an almost imperceptible smile—a strange expression mixed with contemplation and a hint of excitement.
Finally, Lin Chuan smiled, "Angelina, now I’m quite interested in your intelligence system, too. Is this also the message passed back by your agents?"
"Oh? Are you thinking of joining us?" Angelina seemed quite eager for Lin Chuan to join them.
"No, that’s not it. Just curious."
An agent isn’t exactly a precise job description, it’s more of a generalization for a category of people, like the FBI, KGB, and so on.
Lin Chuan was more interested in the intelligence aspect.
If the intelligence was accurate and comprehensive, it was like having a third eye. As long as the difference in strength wasn’t unbridgeable, there would always be a chance to gain the upper hand.
Lin Chuan thought, if he had enough information, wouldn’t toppling Morgan and AW be a matter of minutes?
Oh, and there was another one.
Baisheng Group, the backer behind the Old Street Factory District in the Myanmar area.
Hacker techniques could only do so much online, a bit of reality-based intelligence was missing.
If it were hacker-generated plus agent-reported intelligence, invincible!
"Regarding agents, I can’t reveal too much to you; it’s the rule, sorry, idol," Angelina said.
Lin Chuan felt a bit disappointed, "No problem, I understand."
The two chatted casually for a while before hanging up the phone.
Lin Chuan put down the phone, cast aside thoughts of agents, and then refocused his thoughts on ’Karl.’
"Is the Karl at the company really AW’s Karl?"
Lin Chuan muttered.
Thinking a thousand times isn’t as good as testing once!
Before long, Lin Chuan had a plan.
First, using Li Qing’s identity, he purchased plane tickets for travelling abroad online; then he tugged at his collar, making his neat clothes look a bit disheveled, left his office, and proceeded to the 16th floor.
—720 Network Security Ltd.
"Good day, Chairman."
The company had matured in size; the employees greeted Lin Chuan as he briskly walked in.
Coincidentally, Karl was walking towards him.
Lin Chuan acted as if he hadn’t seen him, attempting to sidestep to his office.
But then!
Bang!
The two collided!
Karl immediately apologized, "Chairman, I was busy with an order..."
Before he could finish, Lin Chuan turned around, gave him a glare, and simply said, "Don’t be so flustered."
Then he continued on to the office with very urgent and quick steps, as if he was in a hurry.
Karl watched Lin Chuan’s retreating figure and frowned.
Once inside the office, Lin Chuan began to tidy up and rummage through drawers, taking out some of his precious documents, and then he started working on the computer.
Thunk, thunk, thunk.
An untimely knock on the door reached Lin Chuan’s ears.
"Who is it?"
Lin Chuan’s voice was a bit loud.
"Chairman, it’s me, Karl. I’ve come to report on the intention to cooperate that we signed with Galaxy Technology yesterday." Karl’s demeanor was one of serious work as he had already stepped into the office and come up to Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan had no choice but to take the contract, quickly flipped through it, and then threw the ’intention to cooperate’ back to Karl, "You’ve done well, I have an important meeting over here. I will attend the formal contract signing in a few days myself."
"Okay!" Karl immediately replied.
"Alright, go back to work," Lin Chuan instructed.
Karl exited the office.
About five minutes later, Lin Chuan also left the office, crossed the company, entered the elevator, went downstairs, and stepped into his Audi A8.
In the car, there was Little Landlady.
With a press of the accelerator, Lin Chuan drove away in the Audi A8, soon disappearing from the road in front of the company and from Karl’s sight.
Yes, Karl had been watching Lin Chuan.
From the moment Lin Chuan started, he felt that something was off with Lin Chuan, so he took the contract to gauge Lin Chuan’s reaction.
"Does the Chairman seem in a hurry?"
Karl wondered to himself, "Like he came back to the company to grab something important, and then left again?"
He stood in front of his office, looking through the floor-to-ceiling glass window, frowning, and watched Lin Chuan leave, feeling that something was strange.
At that moment, Li Qing walked in: "Karl..."
"Director Li!"
Karl cut in, "I just saw the Chairman seemed to be in a hurry, where is he going?"
Stay tuned to empire
Li Qing looked puzzled, "You saw the Chairman?"
"I accidentally ran into the Chairman just now, I’m worried that he..." Karl looked troubled.
"The Chairman is very generous, he won’t hold a grudge against you," Li Qing waved his hand, "I don’t know where the Chairman went either. I was just about to have him sign a document."
"You also want to find the Chairman? Well, why don’t you give him a call? I just saw him drive away, he probably hasn’t gone far," Karl suggested a plan.
Li Qing thought for a moment, "The Chairman is busy, I can have Little Director Zhang sign it too."
"Little Director Zhang went out with the Chairman."
Karl timely added.
"Hm?"
Li Qing raised an eyebrow, "Both out?"
Karl nodded, "Yes."
"I’ll call and ask Little Director Zhang when he’s available, this document is quite urgent."
As he spoke, Li Qing took out his phone and dialed Little Landlady’s number.
Beep—
Then, a soft female voice came from the phone:
’The number you have dialed is a dead number...’
Li Qing was startled for a moment, immediately looked down at the phone number, "It’s Little Director Zhang’s number, why is it a dead number?"
"A dead number?"
Karl, standing nearby, raised his eyebrows in thought.
Then, disregarding Li Qing, he walked out of the company, found a secluded place, used a spare phone, and dialed a number.
Beep, beep, beep.
The number Karl dialed was not a dead number and was quickly connected.
"Yu Qin, check on Lin Chuan’s whereabouts immediately; he might be running!" Karl said, making sure no one was around.
"Running?"
On the phone, Yu Qin was also taken aback.
"Yes, he’s rushing around, his girlfriend’s phone is already a dead number; he’s likely trying to flee the country to avoid our lawsuit!" Karl speculated convincingly.
"Alright, I’ll investigate right away!" Yu Qin was decisive and immediately set out to investigate Lin Chuan.
