Chapter 54 Is it the serious kind?
Before long.
Xinxin rode back on her electric bike in a hurry, kicked out the stand, stepped over with her long legs, and placed the packed beef noodles she was carrying right in front of Lin Chuan.
“Lin Chuan, here you go.”
Lin Chuan looked at Xinxin’s flustered appearance, smiled, and took the beef noodles.
Then, he opened the outer plastic wrapping.
The top of the bowl was covered with slices of beef, with a few scattered pieces of green onion and cilantro for garnish, making it look less monotonous.
As for the noodles, they were nowhere to be seen.
Only beef, no noodles.
“Little Landlady, how generous!”
Lin Chuan grinned and gave Xinxin a thumbs up.
Xinxin caught her breath, the Pikachu on her T-shirt seeming to jump about, and pursed her lips, “Eat up, and then help me fix my tablet.”
“Mou problem!”
Lin Chuan threw out a Cantonese phrase.
The Little Landlady rested her cheek in her hand, watching Lin Chuan eat beef noodles with bored interest.
Finally, after a long while.
Lin Chuan patted his stomach contentedly, “Time to get to work.”
Xinxin’s eyes lit up, perked up with energy, “What tools do you need? I’ll fetch them for you.”
Lin Chuan shook his head and pointed at an old-fashioned computer next to the supermarket counter, saying with a smile, “No need, that computer will do the job.”
Without any hesitation, Xinxin immediately made room for Lin Chuan to sit in front of the computer.
This was an old desktop computer, an entry-level model with not so strong performance.
It was basically good for playing Minesweeper, fighting landlords, and watching videos.
However.
For a hacker with top-notch skills like Lin Chuan, it was completely sufficient.
Lin Chuan first held down the tablet’s volume ‘-‘ button and power button; then the screen lit up, displaying several options.
This was the tablet’s recovery interface.
It’s a system recovery mode that allows for modification and restoration of internal data and system, such as flashing firmware, system upgrades, backups, restoring to factory settings, and so on.
This interface is similar to a computer’s DOS interface.
“You’re a writer, and you can fix tablets too?”
Xinxin watched as Lin Chuan accessed the recovery interface, her eyes gleaming, a smile with a touch of surprise appearing on her face.
“Basic operations.”
Lin Chuan replied succinctly.
Indeed, these were basic operations. Generally speaking, under the recovery interface, you can choose to wipe user data and restore to factory settings, clear the system cache, and this will clean up general trojan programs, allowing the device to boot normally.
But clearly, the Little Landlady wanted to keep the learning materials stored on it, and some trojans disguise themselves as system software, so even after restoring to factory settings, they would still be present on the tablet.
Therefore, Lin Chuan needed to connect the tablet to the computer to analyze this trojan program.
Xinxin watched Lin Chuan’s professional and skilled actions closely, her gaze intense and surprised.
True, she only knew how to watch short videos.
When it came to dealing with trojans and viruses, she was completely clueless.
“What’s next?”
The Little Landlady asked curiously, her brows furrowed.
Lin Chuan turned his head to glance at Xinxin with a smile while sitting in front of the computer, “If you don’t need to keep the data and information inside, you could just download a powerful firmware flashing software, and it would sweep the trojan off along with it.”
Xinxin lightly pursed her lips and said softly, “I want to keep it.”
“If you want to keep it, then we have to get technical,” said Lin Chuan with a chuckle.
“Get technical with what?” Xinxin asked blankly.
“Just watch and learn,” said Lin Chuan with a smile.
He immediately opened a text editor on the computer, his fingers rapidly typing on the keyboard.
Xinxin watched with her mouth slightly open as line after line of code appeared and scrolled on the computer screen, drawing a sharp breath of amazement.
Was he writing code on the spot?
She glanced at Lin Chuan, his slightly handsome face completely focused.
At this moment.
In Zhang Xinxin’s eyes, Lin Chuan’s aura seemed to have undergone a tremendous change.
The Little Landlady had always thought that Lin Chuan was just a writer, harmless to humans and animals, without the strength to truss a chicken, a good person.
But, this string of code that appeared slowly shattered her cognitive shackles.
Lin Chuan seemed to have some technical skills.
The Little Landlady had guessed correctly, Lin Chuan was indeed writing code, a security program for analyzing and killing Trojan horses.
The security program was completed.
Afterward, Lin Chuan obtained tablet permissions on the computer, and the security program began to operate.
Scanning, destroying, killing, all in one go.
The stubborn Trojan horse on the tablet vanished.
Lin Chuan closed the program, disconnected the tablet, and handed it to Zhang Xinxin, saying with a smile, “Done.”
Zhang Xinxin immediately took the tablet and turned away.
Powering on, checking the study materials folder.
As good as new!
“How did you do it?” Zhang Xinxin looked at Lin Chuan, swallowed, and her face was filled with confusion.
Lin Chuan shrugged, “You were watching just now.”
Zhang Xinxin pursed her lips, saying awkwardly, “I didn’t understand.”
Lin Chuan glanced at the Little Landlady, smiling, “Do you want me to explain it to you?”
Zhang Xinxin nodded her head like a pecking chicken.
It was evident that she had a great interest in fixing the tablet.
“Then I’ll explain it to you, how much you understand will depend on your talent,” Lin Chuan said, smiling at Zhang Xinxin’s eagerness to learn.
The Little Landlady had a good heart.
She was also very... crap, she was very generous.
After all, it was harder to find noodles in the beef noodle soup than it was to find her conscience, which was bigger than her ‘Pikachu’.
Might as well tell her.
In the supermarket, in front of an old desktop computer.
Lin Chuan simply explained some knowledge points related to the tablet and computer for removing Trojans and viruses.
The Little Landlady sat on a stool next to him, listening very attentively.
With one hand holding a pen and the other resting on her thigh, she leaned slightly forward, meticulously taking notes, and even the Pikachu on her T-shirt seemed to bow down, staring at the notes to learn.
About half an hour later.
“Alright, that’s it,” Lin Chuan said, raising his hands and stretching.
“That’s all?” The Little Landlady was a bit surprised, pursing her lips, “I haven’t completely mastered it yet.”
“This isn’t as simple as just entering a website to watch a short clip, to learn this, you’ll need to put in a lot of effort,” Lin Chuan said with a smile.
Zhang Xinxin pouted, “You must have spent a long time learning, right?”
Lin Chuan took a breath and replied with a smile, “I learned it overnight.”
“Bullshit.”
Zhang Xinxin spat.
“I’m telling the truth,” Lin Chuan grinned.
Hung, an overnight success.
Zhang Xinxin flipped through the notebook on the antivirus knowledge seriously, thinking to herself that if she learned these antivirus techniques, wouldn’t she be able to watch whatever videos she wanted in the future?
Hisss!
Upon this thought, Zhang Xinxin suddenly had an idea, “Lin Chuan, can you teach me these skills?”
Lin Chuan’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, “Teach you the skills?”
Zhang Xinxin nodded solemnly, “Yes, I want you to be my teacher, I can pay tuition fees.”
“It’s not about the money,” Lin Chuan waved his hand.
Last time, your Old Zhang learned my Cheating Techniques and got me stuck in a detention cell for almost half a day.
Little Landlady, you want to learn my hacker skills?
Zhang Xinxin’s brows slightly furrowed, and she looked at Lin Chuan earnestly, “You don’t want to be my teacher?”
Lin Chuan, startled, “Little Landlady, when you say ‘teacher,’ you mean the serious kind, right?”
