December 10 at 4 a.m.
Anling was a southern city. At this early stage of winter, the night sky still maintained a deep blue-purple color at this hour. The wind was a bit restless but lacked the howling ferocity that bit into one’s ears like the northern winds.
The streets, city districts, and the river surface, all appeared quiet and blurred in the shallow night. Occasionally, one or two cars returning home at night would pass by lightly, the sound of tires frictioning against the damp road surface reaching Lin Chuan’s ears.
A soft melody began to play at the bedside, ’Annie’s Wonderland.’
This was the alarm Lin Chuan had set.
The moment the alarm sounded, Lin Chuan suddenly opened his eyes, instantly wide awake. He turned off the alarm as quickly as possible to avoid waking Xinxin, who slept soundly next to him.
At this time, the body was in a critical phase of rest.
But Xinxin was very sensitive.
As soon as Lin Chuan got up, she responded, murmuring groggily in her sleep, "Chairman, where are you going?"
Lin Chuan tucked her in, gently caressing her tender cheek, then whispered, "Keep sleeping, I have a small matter to attend to."
In a state of enamored drowsiness, Little Landlady nuzzled her face against Lin Chuan’s large hand.
About two seconds later, she said, "Okay."
Dressed in pajamas, Lin Chuan left the bedroom, first pouring himself a cup of hot water, and directly adding a pinch of Maojian tea.
Still a bit sleepy at this hour.
He took his tea into his office, turned on the computer, the blue light of the screen reflecting off his lean face, chasing away most of the drowsiness.
"Huff!"
Lin Chuan rubbed his face, then blew on the warm tea and took a sip, forcibly dispelling any remaining sleepiness, and entered ’combat mode.’
Strictly speaking, this was not a time for work.
However, Lin Chuan had been continuously monitoring Lucas’s computer usage records during this time through hidden programs.
He found that between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m., Lucas’s computer was completely unused and in a black screen state.
At other times, it was occasionally used.
This meant that in the two hours between four and six, Lin Chuan had a more reliable and secure method to carry out the operations he wanted to perform on Lucas’s computer.
The possibility of being discovered was much smaller.
"Lucas, I searched for your IP for a long time, never expected that you’d deliver yourself to my doorstep."
Lin Chuan murmured this, his right hand grasping the mouse.
Previously, he had helped the Drug Enforcement Team trace a crime case involving ’Addictive drugs’ in Southeast Asia. Yet, he had not found any trace of Lucas, just a small fish.
A pity.
Now was a good time to take advantage of the ’Sania Weapons Research Company lawsuit’ to track Lucas.
It would be killing two birds with one stone!
Lin Chuan first slid his mouse, checking Lucas’s computer status in his program window.
Dense, dizzying code filled the screen.
Yet Lin Chuan was able to accurately find the key information: "Status: Shut down."
"Shut down, that’s even safer!"
Lin Chuan glanced at the time on the lower right corner of the computer: 2024/12/10/04:12, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly.
But he didn’t rush into the attack!
A true Hunter, when facing his prey, must maintain absolute patience.
At this moment, Lin Chuan was not just a world-class Hacker but also resembled the King of Killers. A single move from him would be fatal!
To stir the grass and startle the snake, returning without accomplishing anything, was not his style!
Then, Lin Chuan checked the activity status of the local network that Lucas was on, thanks to his hidden program.
The Morgan Group Asia-Pacific Branch’s local network was now at its lowest activity period, aligning with Lin Chuan’s predictions.
This was the foresight of a top-tier Hacker making a move.
Once Lin Chuan confirmed it was the best time, he immediately launched into action.
He took another sip of Maojian tea, and then his hands rapidly struck the keyboard. The mouse was left to the side, completely unused.
The codes that had been prepared in advance unfolded their utility in mere seconds.
The program embedded in the Hass Armed Forces network carrying weapon information showed its might at this critical moment.
Yes, power up!
They were starting up Lucas’s computer that had been shut down!
This might sound ridiculous, but in the world of Hackers, especially among top-tier Hackers, it was a completely achievable operation.
When a computer is under Hacker attack, can shutting it down avoid the attack?
The answer is no!
If the computer is connected to power, a Hacker can control the computer’s motherboard through pre-installed code. Another method is through the network to remotely start the computer, gaining control of the host machine.
The most effective way to prevent a Hacker attack—
Cut off the computer’s power supply, sever the motherboard’s capacitors, unplug the network card on the motherboard along with all computer peripherals, and remove the hard drive.
Thus, it’s as if making the computer completely disappear from the network, robbing Hackers of their target.
However, it was clear that Lucas had not anticipated that while he was attacking Haas Armed Forces, Lin Chuan could also be attacking him!
Or rather.
He had not fully realized that this lawsuit was actually a cyber-attack and defense battle!
There was also another possibility; he had great confidence in his home security system and did not take Lin Chuan seriously.
Little did he know, Lin Chuan had already discovered a security vulnerability in the network defense of the Morgan Group in these past days.
For a top-tier Hacker.
As long as there was a program, there would be security vulnerabilities. And as long as there were vulnerabilities, intrusion was possible. There was no need to understand it completely; one vulnerability was enough to be lethal.
