Chapter 49 Why Don’t You Try Using Your Charms?
“Last time that website had an astonishing amount of storage, all kinds of types, and that still wasn’t enough for you?”
Lin Chuan was surprised, his fingers dancing across the keyboard as he replied to Zhang Xinxin’s message.
Soon.
Zhang Xinxin sent a message to explain, “No, that one got closed down.”
Lin Chuan frowned and replied, “That shouldn’t be, I’ve used it for many years and it has never been shut down.”
“It really got closed down,” Zhang Xinxin affirmed.
Lin Chuan opened the browser and skillfully typed in a string of English characters.
‘According to regulatory authority regulations and complaint reports, this webpage’s content violates related laws and regulations, access is forbidden’
“It really did get closed down.”
Lin Chuan muttered to himself and then after a little thought, he replied to Zhang Xinxin, “Those others of yours before, did they get shut down as well?”
“Those previous websites all had Trojan viruses; if I used my tablet to look once, I had to factory reset it once/sad.jpg,” replied Zhang Xinxin.
“Alright then, who told you to be Little Landlady.” Lin Chuan quickly entered another string of website addresses.
“As a reward, I’ll let you off two months of utility bills.”
Zhang Xinxin was satisfied.
“Little Landlady, so generous!” Lin Chuan laughed.
The monthly utility bills were about one hundred yuan.
The Little Landlady directly waived two months of utility bills, two hundred yuan!
Night deepened.
Lin Chuan lay on his bed, blissfully entering dreamland.
Meanwhile, on the Kuai Dou live streaming app, the ‘Anling News’ video did not stop its spread, climbing to the homepage and heading straight for the popular section.
The next morning, Modu.
Sailing Novel’s office building.
Fine rain fell like silk, pitter-pattering, the hazy rain mist enveloping the city’s skyscrapers, akin to an inkwash painting.
Youyou, dressed in a plain white maxi dress and wearing high heels, hurried through the Sailing Company, her waterfall-like black hair gently fluttering with her pace.
“Youyou.”
Youyou sat down, and Sailing Novel’s chief editor, Ming Yue, came over with a smile, greeting Youyou.
“Sister Ming Yue, morning,” Youyou said with a smile.
“You little miss, looking all radiant, you are in much better spirits than some time ago,” Ming Yue observed Youyou’s slightly rosy complexion and commented with a smile.
A shining smile emerged on Youyou’s face, “I adjusted my mindset, no longer as anxious as before.”
Before, she had been worried about performance all the time.
Ever since Lin Chuan’s “Swindler” unexpectedly topped the charts last time, and after she and Ming Yue jointly reviewed Lin Chuan’s new book “This Assassin Is Too Professional”, Youyou had found hope.
If Lin Chuan could continue to produce hits, then there was hope of meeting this year’s targets.
Life, too, still had hope.
“It’s good that you’ve adjusted,” said Ming Yue, her face lightly made up, leaning slightly forward, “Youyou, I have a matter to discuss with you.”
“What’s the matter, Sister Ming Yue?”
Youyou raised her head, her eyes sparkling like the starry galaxy, looking at Ming Yue.
The chief editor Ming Yue said with a smile, “How about we switch that Mr. Lin under you to my team?”
Hm?
Youyou frowned slightly and then responded with an awkward smile, “Sister Ming Yue, you’re teasing me first thing in the morning.”
“I’ll trade you an author with an average subscription of ten thousand.”
Ming Yue threw out a very tempting offer.
Youyou’s brow furrowed as she looked steadily at Ming Yue, “So generous?”
“Of course,” Ming Yue didn’t hesitate, raising her eyebrow, “So, are you going to switch?”
“No switch!”
Without a second thought, Youyou replied decisively.
“You value this Lin Chuan so much that you won’t trade him even for an author with ten thousand average subscriptions?” Ming Yue raised an eyebrow, teasing her with interest.
Youyou smiled gently, “Sister Ming Yue, you’re joking with me again. Seriously, I think Lin Chuan is at the stage where his long-term efforts are about to pay off. These past few days, I’ve been immersively reading ‘This Assassin Is Too Professional’ by Lin Chuan. It’s really well written, fully capable of reaching ten thousand subscriptions. So, chief editor, please stop having designs on Lin Chuan.”
“You little girl, you have good judgment,” Ming Yue sent a look of approval her way.
“Youyou, you’ve taught him well,” Youyou said, smiling.
Mingyue shook her head, then added, “But I need to correct you on one point. It’s not that he has the potential for ten thousand subscriptions; rather, he is already making a dash for it.”
“Making a dash for ten thousand subscriptions?”
Youyou’s eyes narrowed as she murmured to herself.
“Yes!”
Mingyue nodded earnestly, then turned on the computer and opened the Kuaidou website, pointing to the hot search ranking, “Look, he’s made it to the hot search again.”
Youyou’s lips parted slightly, her breathing became noticeably quicker, and her bright eyes fixed on the hot search rankings of the Kuaidou platform.

“The internet writer mentioned in the fifth place on the hot search is your precious Lin Chuan,” Mingyue said with a smile in front of the screen.
Youyou steadied herself, took over the mouse, and clicked on the fifth hot search.
What caught her eye was a video released by ‘Anling News’: Criminal Investigation Genius assists the police in solving a case within 48 hours...”
Youyou, filled with intense curiosity, clicked on the video.
In the video, Hu Daqiang spared no effort in promoting Lin Chuan, particularly Lin Chuan’s novels.
The video’s comment section was filled with remarkable comments.
‘Some people may seem like just novel authors, but behind the scenes, they’re criminal investigation geniuses.’
‘Now novel authors have one more excuse for taking leave: Police uncle asked me to solve a case.’
‘Indeed, novels come from life!’
‘Is this how a novel author seeks inspiration?’
Youyou’s eyes widened, her index finger on the mouse trembling slightly, scarcely believing the content of the video.
‘Criminal Investigation Genius’ ’48-hour case resolution’ — these keywords, unexpectedly linked with ‘internet writer’ ‘Mr. Lin.’
Incredible!
Youyou then opened the editor’s backend to check the average subscription details of Lin Chuan’s work.
[Work: This Assassin Is Too Professional.]
[VIP Chapters: 642.]
[Total Subscriptions: 2673930.]
[Average Subscription: 4165.]
Mingyue patted Youyou on the side and chuckled, “Youyou, you better hold on tight to this treasure of an author.”
Coming back to her senses, Youyou’s lips curved upward involuntarily, and she smiled, “Mingyue, no wonder you were thinking of poaching early in the morning. This momentum is indeed a bit fierce!”
The Kuaidou platform, home to hundreds of millions of users.
Just hanging on the hot search for half a day is enough to send a million-word novel straight to the top of quality works.
Mingyue, as the chief editor, had a different perspective on the issue than Youyou.
She laughed, “The problem you should worry about is not me poaching him, but whether Lin Chuan will continue to write novels.”
Youyou was taken aback, her eyebrows immediately furrowing.
That’s right.
Lin Chuan was acclaimed by Anling Police as a Criminal Investigation Genius with an extremely professional approach to examining crime scenes.
This skill alone was enough to make any criminal policeman green with envy.
“What if the police recruit him away and he stops writing?” Youyou’s insecurity arose on the spot.
Helping solve cases was, of course, a service to society.
But Youyou couldn’t bear the thought of losing this gem of an author; she only wished he could write some novels while solving cases.
“That’s when your skills come into play,” Mingyue said with a smile.
Youyou pursed her lips, “The police can offer him a formal position. I am at the end of the universe here, what could I possibly do?”
Mingyue raised an eyebrow teasingly, “How about you try using your charm?”
