Their minds simply hadn't caught up yet.
——Even the genius contestants who made it to the finals didn't receive such treatment, how could someone eliminated in the preliminary round get treated with such high regard?
Old Wang and the others were quite puzzled.
"Friends, are you all involved in weapons research as well?" Sun Cheng's expression was friendly as he looked at Old Wang and the others, smiling as he asked.
Old Wang's expression was not at ease, and he replied somewhat unnaturally, "Director Sun, I am a web novel writer."
"So am I." Xue Qiqi also followed suit with a response.
Most web novel writers are not adept at socializing with people like Sun Cheng.
Old Wang and Xue Qiqi were typical examples.
"I am an officer with the Anling Police Station, responsible for the cyber security division." Xia Qingqing, on the other hand, was much more natural, as if she were facing her superiors.
Sun Cheng nodded in acknowledgment, chatting with them like a kindly elder about everyday matters.
Shen Qianqian could tell from the side.
Sun Cheng was trying to build a connection with Lin Chuan.
Otherwise, there was almost no intersection in the life trajectories of Sun Cheng and Wang Zikai and the others.
"Lin Chuan, we have other matters to attend to, so we won't disturb you and Director Sun anymore." Xia Qingqing saw the signs and took the initiative to give Lin Chuan and Sun Cheng some space.
Lin Chuan nodded and then turned to Sun Cheng, "Director Sun, I'll see them out, please excuse me for a moment."
Sun Cheng's face held a smile as he gave a slight nod.
Lin Chuan then led Shen Qianqian and the others out of the house.
Old Wang, clenching his fist, lightly punched Lin Chuan's shoulder, "You little rascal, you didn't make it to the finals, how did you secretly get in touch with Director Sun?"
"I also didn't expect Director Sun to come." Lin Chuan laughed.
Xia Qingqing pouted and hummed, "Looks like I won't have the chance to make fun of you this time."
You could tell.
Despite her saying she had 'no chance to make fun' of Lin Chuan, she was happier than anyone else at heart, never expecting that the weapon designed by Lin Chuan would directly alarm someone from the National Weapons Research Institute.
How awesome is that?
Xia Qingqing didn't know.
But whenever Lin Chuan achieved something, she couldn't help but feel happy for him, just like she felt sorry and a bit upset that Lin Chuan didn't make it to the finals.
"Don't always think about laughing at me." Lin Chuan grinned.
"Old Lin, if you're recognized as a special talent and recruited into a special department, won't we rarely get to see each other?"
Old Wang suddenly started to worry.
"What are you thinking, my novel isn't even published yet!" Lin Chuan said, and everyone immediately laughed.
That's right.
Writing novels was Lin Chuan's main profession, everything else was secondary.
He certainly couldn't get his priorities mixed up.
"By the way, Qianqian, wait for me downstairs later," Lin Chuan instructed Shen Qianqian.
"You mean?"
Shen Qianqian was slightly startled, and guessed.
Lin Chuan nodded, and the two understood each other without words, everything was tacitly communicated.
"What kind of riddle are you two playing at?"
Xia Qingqing, seeing Lin Chuan and Shen Qianqian looking at each other and speaking in half-sentences, couldn't help frowning.
"It's a secret." Shen Qianqian pulled Xia Qingqing toward the elevator.
"Qianqian, you can't let yourself be blinded by greasy flattery!" Xia Qingqing glanced at Lin Chuan and warned.
"What nonsense about greasy flattery, it's serious business!"
Shen Qianqian chided Xia Qingqing gently, then they all entered the elevator.
Lin Chuan returned to his house, closed the door, and smiled, "Director Sun, sorry to keep you waiting."
"Comrade Lin Chuan, that's not something you should say."
Sun Cheng waved his hand and patted Lin Chuan, who was sitting beside him, "Even if I had to wait for a month, I could wait!"
Lin Chuan laughed, "Director Sun, you're too kind."
Now that Lin Chuan was the only person at home, with no outsiders around, Sun Cheng took the opportunity to get a bit closer, "I'm old, so I'll use my seniority and call you Little Lin. You just call me Old Sun, don't be calling me 'Director' or anything, that's too formal."
"Old Sun?" Lin Chuan opened his mouth.
Sun Cheng grinned happily, clearly pleased, "Lin, I won't keep you in the dark. Last night, we mobilized all the rocket artillery experts we could at short notice to evaluate and judge your 'Remote Box-type Rocket Launcher' blueprints."
Lin Chuan raised an eyebrow.
People from the National Weapons Research Institute really knew their stuff. This time, the effort he put into the rocket launcher had not been in vain.
"Do you have a result now?" asked Lin Chuan.
"They are still studying it."
Sun Cheng laughed heartily, seemingly even happier about not having concluded the research.
"I know, there are many bottleneck technologies in the design of this rocket launcher, so they'll need more time to verify it. This further shows that your rocket launcher blueprints are solid!"
The words 'solid' were concise and to the point.
"What about... the finals?"
Lin Chuan hesitated.
He suddenly realized he had overlooked a crucial aspect.
In his plan, the 'Remote Box-type Rocket Launcher' making it to the final round was a given. Then, after gaining massive public approval and completing the assessment task with the acknowledgment of a hundred thousand people, he aimed to transform the Anling Iron and Steel Factory into a military factory, leveraging the military background in the process.
However.
The 'Remote Box-type Rocket Launcher' might be too advanced!
So much so that the experts from the National Weapons Research Institute worked overnight, likely classifying it as military secret!
If that was the case, his plan of using the finals to complete the 'hundred thousand approvals' assessment task was probably going down the drain.
As expected.
Sun Cheng's words confirmed his thoughts, "Lin, the technology you possess is somewhat ahead of the curve, and you may not fully understand the current military development. This 'Remote Box-type Rocket Launcher' cannot be exposed before we have completely grasped it."
A hint of embarrassment appeared on Sun Cheng's face, "Considering the theoretical and practical verification stages, at the very least, it would take two days."
Thankfully he had insisted on mobilizing all the rocket artillery experts last night despite the risk of angering senior leadership.
If only one or two experts had been involved, the project wouldn't be approved for at least six months, by which time it would have been all for nothing.
"Two days, that's manageable," Lin Chuan nodded.
"Lin, I didn't sleep at all last night. I took a special plane overnight, flying directly from the Capital City to Anling," Sun Cheng looked at Lin Chuan and continued, "As soon as I landed this morning, I came straight to your house."
"I understand your intentions, Old Sun," Lin Chuan nodded.
In truth, both parties were keen.
Otherwise, Lin Chuan wouldn't have participated in the 'National Weapon Innovation Design Competition'. He could have just used his hacking skills to contact an armed group, and the technology related to this 'Remote Box-type Rocket Launcher' would have sold for a fortune!
Enough for three generations to live without worry!
As for the assessment task, if he had chosen to take shortcuts, there were indeed many ways to complete it.
However, Lin Chuan felt it was best to give this invention to the state.
After all, he didn't trust anyone else with it.
If one day someone used this 'Remote Box-type Rocket Launcher' to attack him, that would be the end of it!
"As long as you understand, that's good, that's good!"
Sun Cheng sighed in relief as a weight lifted from his heart. Seeing Lin Chuan's attitude, he knew the discussion had gone well.
"Old Sun, I'll speak frankly too; I have a request," Lin Chuan didn't beat around the bush and laid it all out.
"I like straightforward people!"
Old Sun's eyes encouraged Lin Chuan to speak his mind openly.
Lin Chuan nodded with a smile, "Old Sun, we have an iron and steel factory in Anling City that's performing poorly and on the brink of shutting down. I hope to transform it into a military factory to manufacture military weapons."
"Transform into a military factory?" Sun Cheng's expression shifted slightly.
"Yes," Lin Chuan nodded.
"I can promise you the qualifications for a military factory on behalf of the National Weapons Research Institute, but keeping a military factory afloat is not simple," Old Sun, an absolute authority on military weapon data analysis, gave a reminder.
Lin Chuan smiled, "I can handle the technical side."
"You have other technologies?"
Lin Chuan nodded, "I have some others similar to the 'Remote Box-type Rocket Launcher'."
