Turning around, Zhang Yixing started telling Lin Chuan about how Youyou boldly charged into the chief editor's office and then clamored for the release of "Hacker Kingdom," which had over three hundred subscribers, overseas.
"Cough, chief editor, no more talking, the dishes are coming."
Youyou let out a light cough, her face turning somewhat rosy. Now that she thought about it, it indeed seemed quite audacious.
Where had that courage come from back then?

At that moment, a waiter dressed in ancient attire, with a light step, pushed the dishes over and meticulously arranged them on the table.
'Ring ring ring—'
Chief Editor Zhang Yixing's phone rang.
Zhang Yixing glanced at the caller ID, a look of joy crossing his face, then he stepped aside to take the call. Not long after, he returned, his face carrying an apologetic expression:
"Brother Lin, I have a friend who is a collector and owns a private gallery. He insists that I come over now to check his new batch of acquisitions. I can't decline such a warm invitation, and to be honest, I'm pretty curious myself,"
Lin Chuan smiled and said, "Chief editor, I can completely understand how you feel."
Zhang Yixing walked over and took Lin Chuan's hand, saying with a frank smile, "Brother Lin, to use the young people's words, I am both enthusiastic and playful, but I can't help it, when I like something, I don't care about much else. However, tonight I'm going to take your Douli Bowl and give my friend a big surprise."
"You go ahead, chief editor. I'll take good care of Lin Chuan here," Youyou said with a smile.
"Then I'll leave Brother Lin in your care, Youyou."
Zhang Yixing's face was brimming with a smile, and before leaving, he added, "Youyou, I know the manager here, and I've already told him to charge it to my account. Take good care of Brother Lin, I won't disturb the two of you anymore."
In the private room, only Youyou and Lin Chuan remained.
Youyou's laugh was as charming as blooming flowers: "Thanks to you, tonight I can really stick it to the chief editor, which is not an opportunity I usually get."
Lin Chuan poured a glass of orange juice for Youyou and said with a smile, "Thanks for your 'Year-End Bonus.'"
Youyou chuckled and took the orange juice: "And I thank you for your 'Ming Hongwu Blue and White Peony Pattern Jade Spring Vase.'
"You remembered such a long name?" Lin Chuan was somewhat surprised.
"How could I not when you gave me such a precious gift?" Youyou said with a laugh.
"It's just for holding flowers, nothing too valuable."
"The value of a gift isn't measured by how much it's worth on the market, but by who gives it," Youyou said, nodding lightly, her face adorned with a bright smile.
"Then tonight's dinner has been invaluable,"
Lin Chuan continued her logic, teasingly.
Youyou blinked, her eyes clear as autumn water: "Really?"
"Of course," Lin Chuan affirmed.
"Can I take a photo with you then?" Youyou asked with a smile in her voice, sounding gentle.
"Sure."
Lin Chuan didn't think too much and readily agreed.
For authors and editors, meeting face-to-face usually involves taking a photo together, much like checking in. Lin Chuan and Youyou's relationship wasn't just that of an author and editor; it was like old friends reuniting.
Indeed, Lin Chuan had been writing under Youyou for quite a few years.
They were truly old friends.
"Miss, could you help us take a photo together?" Youyou stepped out of the private room and called out to a waitress.
The waitress, dressed in Hanfu, happily agreed.
After handing her cellphone to the waitress, Youyou trotted over and stood next to Lin Chuan, ready and smiling.
This waitress often helped customers take photos.
She assessed the distance between the two and started giving directions for the photo.
"Get a little closer to each other, the picture won't look good if you're too far apart."
"A bit closer, beauty, hook your hand around the handsome guy's arm."
"That's right, tilt your head towards the handsome guy a bit."
"Handsome guy, show us a smile."
"Three, two, one, perfect!"
"Do you want to take a few more?"
"Handsome guy, tilt your head towards the beauty a bit."
Click, click, click!
A few couple shots then appeared on Youyou's phone. She took back her phone, flipped through the photos, and revealed a satisfied smile: "They were indeed taken very well, they have the feel of a professional photo shoot."
Meanwhile, Lin Chuan had already started digging into the copious amounts of food on the table.
After dinner, Youyou took Lin Chuan for a stroll through Modu's bustling night market.
The neon lights of the night were especially magnificent, reflecting off Youyou's face and making her seem like the bright moon in a glorious galaxy. The early summer breeze, carrying the fresh scent of grass and flowers, gently blew through her slightly curled hair, swaying with grace in the night.
As the night deepened, Lin Chuan returned to the hotel.
Youyou also went back to her own home.
As host and Lin Chuan's editor, she had entertained Lin Chuan for most of the day and didn't seem tired; on the contrary, she still had plenty of energy.
She took out the 'Ming Hongwu Blue and White Peony Pattern Jade Spring Vase' that Lin Chuan had given her, examining it again and again. On the jade-green vase adorned with blue patterns, the 'crawling peony' was vividly and enchantingly depicted.
"This Jade Spring Vase is really beautiful."
Youyou liked the porcelain very much, just as she was satisfied looking at the photo she took with Lin Chuan. She looked around her house, finally deciding to place it on the bay window in her bedroom.
After arranging the Jade Spring Vase, she added a few flower stems, creating an extra bit of charm.
'Ding dong ding dong—'
Editor-in-Chief Ming Yue sent her a message: "Youyou, you met up with your Lin Chuan today, how was it? Is he handsomer in videos or in person?"
Youyou's lips curled into a smile: "He's handsomer in person. /haha.jpg"
"How handsome? Did you follow my advice and take a photo together? /expectant.jpg" Ming Yue, as her mentor, knew Lin Chuan was coming to Modu and hadn't spared any advice for Youyou.
