Especially those legs, Lin Chuan felt he was having a hard time coping!
"Are you thinking about something naughty?" Shen Qianqian turned her head and looked at Lin Chuan with her eyebrows furrowed.
"No, nothing. Don’t slander me!"
Lin Chuan quickly shook his head, thinking to himself, did this girl turn on the Mind Reading Technique or what, he just glanced at her legs and she immediately asked about it.
Seeing Lin Chuan’s reaction, Shen Qianqian couldn’t help but chuckle. "If you’re upright, you shouldn’t fear a crooked shadow. Why aren’t you going upstairs?"
"Uh..."
Lin Chuan was somewhat at a loss for words, unsure of what to say.
"Such a hypocrite!"
Shen Qianqian spat and pursed her lips, "Come on, I’m not going to eat you. There’s something I need to discuss with you."
Lin Chuan glanced at Shen Qianqian’s retreating figure, thinking to himself, a crook need not fear an upright shadow. He had dared to face off against giants of the Underworld like AW, Baisheng Group, and Morgan Group. Was her home something like a tiger’s den?
Go!
No backing down!
After that, the two crossed the street, walked into the residential complex’s garden path, took the elevator, opened the apartment door, and walked into Shen Qianqian’s home.
It was a very typical single girl’s apartment.
One bedroom, one living room, tidy, with no TV but rather a projector. There was a small desk in the middle, and next to the projector was a special storage rack with a little doll hanging on it, quite conspicuous.
Lin Chuan felt that the doll looked familiar. He picked it up and scrutinized it: "This little yellow duck... it seems like..."
"Cough, cough."
Shen Qianqian quickly took the little yellow duck away and then placed it in the room, treating it like a treasure not to be touched by Lin Chuan.
"But it was a gift to you after all." Lin Chuan remembered that it was a little doll he had won at a balloon shooting stall not long after they had met.
"Have a seat, I’ll make some tea."
Shen Qianqian didn’t continue the topic and turned around to make tea.
It wasn’t long before.
Tea was ready, and Shen Qianqian brought over a thermos, poured a cup of weak tea, and handed it to Lin Chuan, "Here, you looked like you were about to get drunk today."
"This thermos looks a bit like the style used by middle-aged men, doesn’t it?" Lin Chuan took it, looking at it with interest.
"Last ’May Day holiday’, when we caught a dozen fraudsters together, this was the prize my unit gave out, just this thermos and a fountain pen," Shen Qianqian pursed her lips.
Lin Chuan laughed, "This thermos is pretty good, practical."
Stainless steel, indeed very hard to break.
— It’s the kind that lasts ’three generations, even when the owner’s gone.’
Lin Chuan took a couple of sips of the tea, which was weak and slightly warm, then said, "You mentioned you wanted to discuss something with me?"
That’s when.
Shen Qianqian took out a document: "Do you remember the ’National Weapons Innovation Design Competition’?"
Lin Chuan nodded, "Of course, I remember."
"This is the document for the finals. It’s about the ’modular new-style rifle’ we designed. I want you to sign it," said Shen Qianqian, pointing to the document.
"Sign it?" Lin Chuan was puzzled.
"Yes, we designed this rifle together. Of course, you have to sign," Shen Qianqian said with a natural and sunny smile.
"I’ve been eliminated, why should I sign?" Lin Chuan waved his hand, taking another sip of tea.
"You have to sign!"
Shen Qianqian said decisively, with an unyielding spirit.
"Eh, why?" Lin Chuan frowned.
"Just sign," insisted Shen Qianqian, pouting, thinking to herself, letting the names ’Lin Chuan + Shen Qianqian’ appear together on the rifle made it like their ’baby.’ In the future, if she used this rifle to snipe enemies, she’d be sure to hit with every shot!
That would satisfy her!
Shen Qianqian’s self-considered romantic line of thought would never occur to Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan looked at Shen Qianqian. Her eyes were bright and clear, with a touch of earnest hope, and her pupils reflected his image.
"Alright," Lin Chuan agreed.
"Sign here," with a burst of joy, a beaming smile spread across Shen Qianqian’s face as she pointed to a spot on the document and said to Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan looked down at the place for signatures and then asked, "I’ll sign here, where will you sign?"
"I’ll sign right below you."
Shen Qianqian pointed to the area below the signature line, where a space for signing was reserved in the document.
"No, I should be at the bottom!" Lin Chuan knew well the order of signing.
"You on top, that’s okay, this is your work as well," Shen Qianqian said with pursed lips.
"I need to be at the bottom."
"I want you to be on top!"
"Qianqian, you should be on top!"
"No Lin Chuan, you on top, me on the bottom, that’s most suitable."
"Oh..."
As the two argued, the atmosphere suddenly became somewhat flirtatious.
The issue of who signed on top or bottom became oddly suggestive between Shen Qianqian and Lin Chuan.
The living room’s light wasn’t that bright white but rather a cozy pale yellow. At this moment, it cast their shadows close together, merging into one.
Shen Qianqian wore a light white gauze shirt paired with a denim skirt, possessing a playful yet intellectual beauty.
Under the interplay of light and shadow, her features appeared particularly delicate, each inch of skin snow-white and tender, in the prime of youth, like a flower in full bloom, so alluring it seemed Lin Chuan could, with a single thought, pluck this beautiful flower like a hungry wolf.
Lin Chuan took a deep breath.
Towards Shen Qianqian, besides some fondness, he felt an indescribable emotion.
Xinxin gave him a sense of docility and compliance, comfortable to be around, with no pressure.
And what about Shen Qianqian, this rose of Anling? She gave him the feeling that she was always by his side.
——Just turn around, and there she would be, blossoming.
It was a habit.
Humans are creatures greatly dependent on habits. A comfort zone, a haven, that makes one reluctant to leave.
A hacker gets used to a keyboard, an assassin to a knife; without these habitual things, they feel an emptiness, as if something is missing, uncomfortable in every way.
Lin Chuan suddenly sighed.
——It would be great if this were a fantasy novel.
No need to think too much, just marry whoever you like; free from rules and norms, and conventional morality wouldn’t judge these matters with its strange eyes.
Or, perhaps being born in Saudi wouldn’t be so bad.
It’s said there that a man can marry four wives.
Lin Chuan didn’t delve deeply, it was only hearsay, but the Shen Qianqian before him once again plunged him into a dilemma.
’Alas, I am just too outstanding!’
Lin Chuan sighed inwardly. Back when his writing career flopped, he hadn’t even managed to properly hold a girl’s hand.
Now, this must be the ultimate fantasy for a web novel writer!
"We don’t need to dwell on this issue anymore, I’ll sign first." Shen Qianqian, realizing the inappropriateness, took the lead to break the stillness and ambiance, picked up the pen, and quickly signed her name on the document.
Without another word, Lin Chuan immediately signed his name below Shen Qianqian’s.
He couldn’t get tangled up with who was on top or bottom any longer, otherwise, he’d end up spending the night here.
"Lin Chuan, do you think I’m a casual girl?" Shen Qianqian suddenly asked, a trace of melancholy flashing in her eyes.
If just then, Lin Chuan had really pounced on her...
Her wish would have been fulfilled, and she probably wouldn’t worry about these things anymore.
But Lin Chuan didn’t.
That just added a tinge of emptiness to her heart, as if wishing into the void with not even a demon answering her call.
Lin Chuan took a sip of tea and said solemnly, "Of course you are not."
Shen Qianqian bit her lip, propped herself up with her hands on the couch, took a deep breath, and revealed a smile, "Alright, we’ve finished our business, let’s go downstairs, I’ll take you home."
As she spoke those words, her heart clenched.
Shen Qianqian suddenly regretted that she had met Lin Chuan through a case; otherwise, she might have beaten Xinxin to the punch.
"Okay," Lin Chuan nodded.
Just as they stood up, a ’thud, thud, thud’ of knocking on the door echoed.
