Archaeological Team Dormitory, Single Apartment.
In a roughly thirty square meter one-bedroom apartment, Qin Sisi sat on the couch, her light white floral dress falling casually. Her gaze was still fixed on her cell phone screen.
The content of "Touch Gold Notes," volume one, entered her field of vision.
'I've decided to go check out the tomb mentioned in the Warring States silk manuscript.'
'To do a good job, one must first sharpen one's tools.'
'I've prepared threaded steel pipes, archaeology probes, dividing compasses, folding shovels, short hammers, multi-purpose military knives, and a few double-barreled shotguns from the black market to deal with the "zongzi."'
'Who knows if those things actually exist.'
'...'
Upon reading this, the slight frown on Qin Sisi's brow quickly relaxed.
Zongzi?
As a professional member of the archaeological team who had been to several ancient tombs with the team, she knew well that there were no such things as 'zongzi' in tombs.
No wonder Lin Chuan said it had magical elements.
It turns out that this tomb-robbing novel added a lot of unscientific and unnatural elements.
However, that made the novel more captivating.
Qin Sisi continued to read on.
'According to the "map"—the Warring States silk manuscript, the great tomb is located near Linyi in the Qilu region.'
'Linyi was the location of the State of Lu during the Warring States period.'
'The use of a silk manuscript to record it indicates that the tomb owner must have been a person of extraordinary status. Sometimes, I can't help but wonder, what kind of burial objects might he have?'
'I tossed and turned, unable to sleep.'
'Finally.'
'We were all ready, setting off.'
'We brought a lot of contraband, so from here to Qilu's Linyi, we had to take a long-distance bus, which was the travel method used by most tomb raiders in the past.'
'Those who made big money would buy their own off-road vehicles to go deep into the mountains and dig up ancient tombs, usually organized tomb raiders with high skills and strong weapons.'
'The long-distance bus was not comfortable to ride, and after more than ten hours of bumpy journey, I finally saw the scenery of the Qilu region.'
'However, we didn't stop to rest.'
'Because the Warring States silk manuscript that my grandfather had was taken away by foreign soldiers many years ago, and now, they might also be acting on that great tomb.'
'Tomb robbing is first-come-first-serve.'
'We were quick, and as soon as we stepped onto the land of Linyi, we hurried to our destination.'
'—The Taiyi Mountain Range.'
'...'
Reading up to this point,
Qin Sisi instinctively paused her reading, her gaze fixating on the words 'Taiyi Mountain Range.'
She put down her cell phone and took out a piece of A4 paper from her backpack.
On the paper was a rough sketch of the Ninth Archaeological Team's excavation plan.
In the address column, it read: Qilu Region, Linyi, Taiyi Mountain Range.
"That's quite a coincidence."
Qin Sisi pursed her lips and muttered to herself.
She didn't expect the tomb-robbing novel by Lin Chuan to coincide with her upcoming archaeological mission in the Taiyi Mountain Range.
But she didn't think much of it.
It was just a coincidence.
Perhaps because the location coincidentally matched, Qin Sisi grew even more interested in Lin Chuan's "Touch Gold Notes."
'Third Uncle really is a master tomb raider, leading with dragon-seeking and positioning, and determining the burial point.'
'We found the location of the great tomb.'
'I tried to pick up the soil of the ground and smelled it, a barely detectable scent similar to the smell of blood invading my nostrils.'
"Dig!"
'A group of us, all young and strong, quickly dug a tunnel seven or eight meters deep for tomb robbing.'
'This unusual brick wall immediately attracted our attention.'
'Inside the brick wall were anti-theft layers, all the bricks had to be taken out.'
'And inside the wall was full of strong acid; once broken, the strong acid would instantly pour over a person, turning them into a blood corpse.'
'...'
Qin Sisi watched intently.
'Burial chambers,' 'four-legged square cauldrons,' 'stone coffins,' 'tunnels,' 'statues,' 'murals of the Dahong Roof,' 'inscriptions recording King Lushang,' and so on, all followed the plot of the novel entering her mind.
So much so that she was somewhat distracted at work that afternoon.
Evening finally came.
After taking a shower, she picked up her cell phone again and continued to read the updates.
However,
The first volume of "Touch Gold Notes" was only three hundred thousand words long, and it didn't take her long to finish.
Phew—
Qin Sisi let out a long breath, still craving more, and decided to send Lin Chuan a knife blade or something.
On regular days, she used WeChat for work, but unfortunately, like many web novel writers, including Lin Chuan, they all used QQ. She had logged into QQ last time to add Lin Chuan as a friend when they met for a meal.
"Writer Lin, good evening." Qin Sisi sent Lin Chuan a polite message.
"Archaeological expert, good evening."
It didn't take long for Lin Chuan to reply to her message.
"Such a short read at three hundred thousand words, not enough! When's the second volume coming out?/eager.jpg" Qin Sisi texted with a smile on her face.
Indeed, the bizarre imagination in Lin Chuan's "Touch Gold Notes," and the vivid description of burial chambers and underground palaces, had this archaeologist itching with anticipation.
If there were such burial chambers and underground palaces in reality, what a shock that would be!
"Volume two is coming out soon, Expert Qin have you added it to your favorites?" Lin Chuan asked.
"I added it early on, and went for the full subscription too./self-satisfied.jpg" Qin Sisi replied.
Lin Chuan responded with a thank-you emoticon.
Qin Sisi recalled her actual work and quickly typed on her phone screen, sending Lin Chuan a message: "By the way, I reported to Archaeological Team Nine today, and our team leader asked about the Han Dynasty grand tomb in Anling."
