“High-intelligence crime?”
Shen Qianqian gave a start, her willowy brows furrowed slightly.
Xia Qingqing nodded lightly, “Yes, the protagonist in it is an assassin, very professional, especially in terms of fabricating the crime scene after killing the target—it’s called professional!”
“Fabricating the crime scene...” Shen Qianqian murmured to herself.
The Criminal Police Brigade had speculated in the direction of ‘fabricating the crime scene’, but due to the succession of cases that came one after another, which caught them off guard,
they had a difficult time spreading out their investigations.
If it really was a high-intelligence crime involving ‘fabricating the crime scene’, it would be worth a look, as it might help a bit with divergent thinking in handling future cases.
“What’s the name of this novel? Once I’m done with these few cases, I’ll take the time to read it,” Shen Qianqian said with a smile.
“Sailing Novel, This Assassin Is Too Professional,” Xia Qingqing said with a chuckle.
Shen Qianqian opened the Sailing Novel app and searched.
Suddenly!
Her willowy brows furrowed slightly, her pupils shook, a flicker of surprise flashed through her eyes, and she immediately pictured that clean, sunny, handsome face in her mind.
“The author, Mr. Lin...Lin Chuan?”
“Qianqian, what’s wrong?” Xia Qingqing asked curiously, noting Shen Qianqian’s unusual expression.
“This author...” Shen Qianqian paused, “I know him.”
Xia Qingqing raised an eyebrow, “Tonight, the Cyberspace Surveillance Brigade informed me to identify if a book recommendation live stream involved any dissemination of criminal behavior, and they were promoting this very book of his.”
Shen Qianqian’s brows knitted together, and a flicker of surprise crossed her eyes again.
Why did Lin Chuan’s novels always revolve around themes that walked the line of legality?
Theft and swindling were still manageable.
But this time, it’s a high-intelligence crime genre involving ‘fabricating crime scenes’—and it’s even acclaimed as professional?
“That’s too real!”
Shen Qianqian muttered to herself.
“I also think it’s very realistic, but the captain said that it’s just a novel and there are no corresponding real cases, so it only needs to be recorded,” Xia Qingqing said with a laugh.
Shen Qianqian’s gaze flickered, “Do you still remember the plot? Especially the part about fabricating the crime scene.”
Drinking her Silver Fungus Soup, Xia Qingqing looked up at Shen Qianqian in surprise, “You’re not going to crack the case using this, are you?”
Shen Qianqian gave a gentle smile, “Not really, I just want to see if I can put myself in the shoes of a criminal suspect and think about how one would fabricate a crime scene.”
She believed that Lin Chuan was most likely adopting the perspective of a ‘criminal suspect’ in fabricating crime scenes.
This was Shen Qianqian’s understanding of Lin Chuan’s writing style after reading “Thief” and “Swindler”.
In Shen Qianqian’s mind, Lin Chuan’s novels had two major features.
First, a first-person narrative that gives a strong sense of immersion.
Second, combining the ‘profession’ of the protagonist, vividly portraying its characteristics with a high degree of professionalism!
In reality.
In many cases where there are no leads, criminal investigation personnel need to draw upon their existing experience, think outside the box, and use new approaches to uncover relevant clues.
Many bizarre cases are cracked following an inadvertently found clue which then leads to uncovering the full picture successfully.
Lin Chuan’s novel might just become a point for divergent thinking.
“Okay, I’ll tell you about it.”
Xia Qingqing nodded, finished the Silver Fungus Soup in her bowl, then took out her phone, opened “This Assassin Is Too Professional”, and specifically turned to the chapter on fabricating scenes, narrating it to Shen Qianqian.
With Xia Qingqing acting as the narrator, Shen Qianqian was able to understand the story as quickly as possible.
Especially the part about counterfeiting the crime scene.
Shen Qianqian listened earnestly.
However, her brows grew tighter, a trace of puzzlement emerging on her face, the more she listened, the more she felt something was amiss.
It takes an insider to understand the intricacies.
As a professional detective, Shen Qianqian often investigated various criminal cases, especially the murder cases that had recently increased in frequency.
Looking at Lin Chuan’s “This Assassin Is Too Professional” now, she couldn’t help but feel a chill down her spine.
She had expected Lin Chuan to write very professionally.
But these methods were indeed too professional!
The forensic knowledge it involved, as well as the demonstrated ability in crime scene processing, was likely even more sophisticated than that of veteran detectives.
If a few more details were perfected, one could basically conclude that this author was fully capable of committing the perfect crime in reality.
The ceiling of high-IQ crimes!
A lawless lunatic!
“Lin Chuan, you’re too much of a criminal!”
Shen Qianqian couldn’t help but mutter.
In her mind, she even wondered if the three murders in Anling City were related to Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan had guessed right.
At this moment, everyone she saw seemed like a murderer.
However, this thought flashed through Shen Qianqian’s mind and disappeared.
Although Lin Chuan definitely had the potential to be a crime suspect, he seemed to lack a motive for crime.
Why would he go stabbing people when he could be writing novels?
To find inspiration?
“Thank you, Qingqing,” Shen Qianqian said with a smile. “The idea of fabricating a crime scene is very helpful for solving the case.”
Xia Qingqing smiled gracefully, “Remember to treat me to a meal if you solve the case. I have to go back and patrol the net.”
Shen Qianqian smiled and returned to the Criminal Police Brigade.
In the office hall.
Colleagues were still discussing a murder case that was discovered this morning.
The victim, a female, 30-years-old, an employee at Hengli Company, was found on March 22 at 7:13 am, at the reception area of Hengli Company on the fourth floor of Hengli Building, City East District.
Initial investigations showed that the victim had multiple collision injuries, and the fatal wound appeared to be an impact to the forehead, ruling out the possibility of suffocation.
At the scene of the incident, multiple walls and cabinet panels showed collision marks and blood evidence that matched the victim’s wounds.
However, a small amount of rust was found inside the victim’s fatal forehead wound, suggesting death by impact from a heavy iron object.
Beyond that, there were no further developments.
Captain Hu Daqiang of the Criminal Police Brigade glanced over the members and asked, “This month, three murders occurred in succession, causing a tremendous negative impact. The higher-ups have ordered us to solve the case within seven days, but we have no leads. What are your thoughts?”
After some thought, Shen Qianqian answered, “Captain Hu, we are currently investigating the victim’s social relations, but at the crime scene, I believe there are still some doubtful points.”
“Let’s hear them,” said Hu concisely.
“The crime scene is in Hengli Company, yet there are no signs of struggle, meaning that when the victim encountered the assault, there was no resistance whatsoever, which is illogical,” Shen Qianqian began with her preliminary speculation.
Captain Hu nodded.
Years of experience and countless crime scenes later, he knew that in ‘homicide’ cases, similar to being struck to death, there would typically be evidence of the victim’s struggle.
Shen Qianqian continued her analysis, “This suggests that there might be a situation where the scene has been tampered with, or rather, what we are seeing is not the primary scene.”
Captain Hu frowned, “Your guess, where is the primary scene?”
Shen Qianqian shook her head, “If the body was moved, then the primary scene should not be far from Hengli Company. We could try to extend the search; the storage room on the fifth floor, the beauty salon on the third floor, and Hengli Gym on the second floor could all be possible locations.”
Captain Hu nodded.
That night, the Criminal Police Brigade mobilized once again to search the floors above Hengli Company.
As expected!
The fourth floor of the Hengli Company was not the primary scene.
“We’ve found something!”
Shen Qianqian and her team detected blood evidence inside Hengli Gym.
