"You suspect my secretary?" Lucas continued the conversation, making a guess.
Yu Qin shook her head again, but her gaze locked onto Lucas.
Lucas furrowed his brow in concern and hurriedly asked, "Yu, you’re not suspecting me, are you?"
Yu Qin didn’t respond to Lucas’s question and instead said, "The only people who know the entire plan are you, me, and Karl."
Lucas’s mouth twitched.
The implication was so clear; if he couldn’t understand that, he would be as dumb as a pig.
"So after all this, I’m the spy?" Lucas’s mouth twitched, his face a mix of anger at being suspected and a somewhat petulant demeanor.
Yu Qin’s gaze swept over Lucas.
Up and down, left and right, as if trying to see right through him.
"Your suspicion is significant," Yu Qin speculated.
Lucas didn’t like this feeling of being suspected, and his voice grew louder.
"Yu Qin, you’d better clarify your words, or even if we’re at headquarters, I won’t take orders from you. Assuming our plan was leaked, isn’t Karl the most likely to leak it? He is right under Lin Chuan’s watch!"
Yu Qin’s mouth curled into a smile, "Karl is very meticulous in his work. He got a good understanding of Lin Chuan and the 720 Company before he acted, almost ensuring nothing could go wrong. On the other hand, I’m a bit worried about you."
"You’re just looking for trouble!"
Lucas said indignantly, immediately turning the tables, "If we’re going to entertain conspiracy theories, I could even interpret this as a secret plot by the two Yu sisters, looking to betray the Morgan Group and use me and the Asia-Pacific Division as their credential!"
"It’s my intuition," Yu Qin said with a smile.
"Bullshit!"
Lucas cursed angrily, his knee throbbing in pain.
He had to take a deep breath and remind himself not to argue with a woman.
Yu Qin took another look at Lucas, then smiled, "It seems you really aren’t Lin Chuan’s spy."
Lucas frowned.
Yu Qin added, "Your brain isn’t fit to be a spy."
"Get lost!"
Lucas snapped back angry.
Yu Qin was insinuating he was dumb.
Dumb?
Impossible!
As a kingpin of the Asia-Pacific Division’s business in the Morgan Group, how could he be dumb?
But then again, Yu Qin was no ordinary person.
In her opinion, Lucas’s brains weren’t quite enough.
Yu Qin pressed her hand down, "Since you’re not the one, this is getting quite mysterious."
"Go on."
Lucas crossed his arms and leaned back in his wheelchair, ready to hear Yu Qin’s speculation.
Yu Qin thought about it and said, "Since neither you nor I am the spy, and there’s no reason to leak the plan to Lin Chuan, Karl is a core figure in AW, was on the verge of taking charge, even launched a cyberattack on the entire Han River before, and now he’s captured, so we can rule him out, then..."
"Then what?" Lucas raised his eyebrows, showing a bit of interest.
"Then, how did Lin Chuan learn about our plan?" Yu Qin asked thoughtfully.
"This..."
Lucas’s brow tightened.
He hadn’t thought about this issue, and suddenly his mind went blank with no answer.
The secretary?
Impossible!
The secretary would only report public messages to him and didn’t know their specific operations, let alone the evidence.
As for the hackers, even less so.
They knew even less than the secretary.
Lucas said, "It’s not the secretary, and it couldn’t be the tech personnel either, leaving only one possibility."
"What possibility?"
"You!"
"Me?" Yu Qin chuckled dryly, "Ha, am I orchestrating this myself?"
"Only the three of us know the entire incident. We submitted evidence to Sania just before the trial began. Lin Chuan could not have possibly prepared a timely countermeasure in such a short time," Lucas wasn’t dumb, quickly laying out his logic.
Yu Qin nodded to herself in agreement.
This question once again became a puzzle.
Suddenly!
Yu Qin turned her head sharply to Lucas, "No, it doesn’t necessarily need a spy. If he hacked into our computers, doesn’t that mean he could have stolen our plan?"
Lucas’s expression froze, "Logically speaking, that’s the case, but..."
"Go on," Yu Qin urged.
Lucas quickly waved his hands, "With Lin Chuan’s skills, it’s impossible for him to breach our Morgan Group’s cyber defenses."
"Impossible?"
Yu Qin looked at Lucas with doubt, "I might not understand hacking as well as you, but I do know one thing—there’s no such thing as an impenetrable wall. Is your firewall really that secure?"
Lucas’s throat felt dry, and with slight guilt, he said, "We have repeatedly strengthened it, and moreover, only on my computer can you find some evidence of the plan, specifically regarding the Hass Armed Forces. He would want to invade my computer, I dare say, it’s absolutely impossible!"
His voice grew louder as he spoke.
He wanted to use volume to boost his own confidence.
After all, Karl, one of the top ten hackers globally, had been bested by Lin Chuan twice. His hacker team under Lucas’s management was still far behind AW.
Lucas’s mouth was tough, but in his heart, he was clearer on this point than anyone.
"Really impossible?" Yu Qin asked back.
"Er..."
Lucas hesitated, "Well, I’ll immediately order a thorough inspection of our internal networks, leaving no stone unturned, to ensure there are no oversights!"
Yu Qin nodded.
During this critical period, an intensive inspection was indeed necessary.
Otherwise, she would be at a great disadvantage!
Facing an opponent who was insightful about all her cards and who possessed strong capabilities and backing, she had little confidence of coming out on top.
"So, what’s next?" Lucas inquired.
Yu Qin thought for a moment, "I have a plan in mind, but it’s best kept under wraps for now. Let’s discuss it after the results of your network inspection come through."
"Alright!" Lucas nodded.
Three’s Company was now down to two. They needed to resolve their internal doubts to present a united front against Lin Chuan. Any discord at this time could spell danger.
The night sky in Southeast Asia glowed a soothing blue.
However, the night in Anling by the Han River brightened up.
Though it was the same time zone, it was undoubtedly a different day. The overcast weather during the day cleared up by night, revealing a vast expanse of sky that brought a refreshing comfort and a feeling of exhilaration.
The best part was, looking up, one could see the half-moon through the sparse clouds, casting a halo around it.
Tonight.
Lin Chuan had specially treated Shen Qianqian and Xia Qingqing to a hot pot dinner.
These two had put in the most effort recently.
They deserved a heartfelt thanks.
At the same time.
Lin Chuan’s phone was incessantly busy with the constant ’ding-dong ding-dong’ and ’ring-ring-ring’ sounds.
Calls and messages were coming in non-stop.
Many people were reaching out, holding conversations with Lin Chuan to various extents.
This even included a few captains from the police station.
Even Elder Zhong had sent a special message, which was quite flattering for Lin Chuan.
This atmosphere was entirely different from when Yu Qin received calls and messages.
Among them.
The person who asked the most frequent and most earnest questions was Lin Chuan’s editor, Youyou.
She was always keeping tabs on Lin Chuan’s whereabouts.
In the evening, the night was misty.
Youyou was walking down a street and sent a message to Lin Chuan, "Was the hot pot tonight good?"
"Not bad, how did you know I had hot pot?" Lin Chuan replied.
"Hehe, didn’t you mention it during your interview with the journalists today?" Youyou sent a sticking-out-tongue emoji.
"You take my casual comments seriously?" Lin Chuan replied with a smile.
"Of course!"
Youyou continued to walk, replying on her phone, "You know, even the chief editor and Wanning were concerned about the outcome of your lawsuit!"
"Haha, I’ve certainly made a stir," Lin Chuan laughed and replied.
"Indeed, they’re worried that if you’re convicted, you won’t be able to write novels anymore!"
"Nonsense! I’m about to release a new book!"
