Zhang Xinxin was momentarily taken aback, then a smile appeared on her face, “Do you want to play the earnest type or the not-so-earnest type?”
“Little Landlady, you know me, I am an earnest person,” Lin Chuan said seriously, “However, when the role demands it, I can adapt.”
Zhang Xinxin laughed instead of getting angry, “But I’m an earnest girl.”
“What kind of earnest girl watches short videos every day?” Lin Chuan retorted.
“Watching short videos means I’m not earnest? You watched them too, and you still claim to be an earnest person.”
Zhang Xinxin straightened her back and lifted her face slightly, countering Lin Chuan.
However, with her height of 168 cm, she was half a head shorter than Lin Chuan and lacked a bit of imposing presence.
Lin Chuan chuckled, “I watch them to learn skills.”
“I also... uh, no, I just have nothing better to do.”
As soon as she said this, Zhang Xinxin’s pretty face quickly turned red, and her subsequent voice was much lower.
She nearly misspoke.
Lin Chuan grinned, “Skills aren’t something you can learn just because you want to.”
Zhang Xinxin hadn’t given up and looked at Lin Chuan earnestly, “Lin Chuan, what will it take for you to teach me?”
In the supermarket.
Lin Chuan thought for a moment, took out his phone, opened the browser, and typed ‘Is teaching someone hacker skills illegal?’ into the search bar.
Having too many experiences with the Pure Desire Occupation.
Lin Chuan subconsciously considered whether these actions might be illegal.
Fortunately, Baidu provided the answer.
It’s not illegal.
So, Lin Chuan glanced at Zhang Xinxin, “Little Landlady, what do you want to do with these skills?”
“To search and kill Trojans, to prevent viruses.”
Zhang Xinxin smiled, but there was an unsaid second half of the sentence she didn’t voice.
To watch short videos conveniently.
These websites always have a large number of Trojans and viruses lurking within, and one could easily get invaded if careless, which was incredibly annoying.
“Alright then.”
Lin Chuan rubbed his chin, an idea forming in his head.
Teaching the Little Landlady some techniques to search and kill Trojans and viruses, and charging a tuition fee for it wasn’t bad either. It would also be a way to monetize his skills.
The Little Landlady beamed with joy, her face excited, “Teacher Lin Chuan, with such great skills, why do you still work as a writer?”
Lin Chuan’s face darkened, “Is being a writer that bad?”
Zhang Xinxin said cheerfully, “Not at all, I’m just purely curious. Working in the cybersecurity department of a big company must be pretty lucrative, right?”
Lin Chuan frowned slightly, falling into brief contemplation.
What the Little Landlady said made some sense.
Most web novel writers didn’t earn much, but Lin Chuan was utterly averse to the idea of working for a company.
996, 007, just hearing about it, Lin Chuan couldn’t help shaking his head, dismissing this terrifying thought.
Working? I could never do that in this lifetime.
Once people get accustomed to working, there’s always more work to be done.
This was also one of the reasons why Lin Chuan chose to write.
He certainly had to continue publishing his books.
After all, each new occupational experience gained him a new skill.
Being a web novel writer also became part of his Hexagon Warrior persona.
However.
After careful consideration, now possessing ‘Top-Level Hacker Technique’, he realized that if he wanted to monetize his skills without breaking the law or joining a company, he had to set up a ‘studio’.
Operating in a studio model, collaborating with some internet companies, solving network problems they couldn’t handle, and earning commissions.
As for how to promote it?
The novel “Hacker Kingdom” would be the best way to advertise.
But, he couldn’t start a studio on his own.
Suddenly, Lin Chuan turned his gaze toward Zhang Xinxin, his eyes gleaming.
“Teacher Lin Chuan, why are you looking at me like that?” Zhang Xinxin immediately hugged her Pikachu plush and took a step back.
Lin Chuan smiled, “Little Landlady, you don’t want to fail to learn any skills, right?”
“What are you going to do?”
Zhang Xinxin looked confused, frowning, “What’s with Lin Chuan today?”
“If you want to learn the skills, you have to join my studio,” Lin Chuan said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Xinxin sighed with relief, “I was agonizing over it. If you made some indecent propositions, I wondered if I should agree.”
Lin Chuan: “???”
Lin Chuan pulled a grimace, “What kind of person do you think I am?”
“An earnest person,” Zhang Xinxin blinked, smiling.
“You should stop calling me Teacher Lin Chuan in the future, it always feels weird,” Lin Chuan advised.
“Don’t you like that tone?” Zhang Xinxin’s mouth quirked up.
“I have to go back and write,” Lin Chuan said, finding an excuse to make a quick exit.
Just a few moments of casual chat were already more than he could bear.
Utterly unbearable!
“Master, when will you teach me the skills?” Zhang Xinxin called out eagerly.
“There’s no rush.”
Lin Chuan had already made a clean getaway.
Anling Police Station.
Cyber Security Detachment.
In the conference room, Captain Yu Shan sat in the front row, looking at his team members, then started speaking with a deep voice, “These past two months have been very severe for us, far from being optimistic.”
“It’s not just the frequent occurrences of online fraud, but computer crimes are rampant as well.”
As Yu Shan said this, he paused and took a sip from his thermos.
Then, he commanded someone to distribute a document.
Xia Qingqing was also in the conference room and upon receiving the document, her expression slowly turned serious.
“Cough!”
Captain Yu Shan cleared his throat, “I believe after reading this, you all are aware of the severe situation we’re in. Today’s meeting is convened with the hope of brainstorming and organizing a strong counter-offensive.”
The people in the room looked at each other, their brows furrowed.
Outside the window, the sun shone brightly, and occasionally a breeze blew into the room, but the slightly heavy breathing of the people could still be heard.
There was some pressure.
Xia Qingqing pursed her lips.
She was already aware of these cases, but she had always been unable to fight back, which enraged her.
“Why isn’t anyone speaking?”
Captain Yu Shan spoke with a heavy voice, scanning the room, and finally turned to Xia Qingqing.
Xia Qingqing, though young, had solid technical skills and had experience engaging with hackers, that’s why Captain Yu Shan had high hopes for her.
“Qingqing, do you have any thoughts on this?”
Dressed in a police uniform and with her hair tied in a ponytail, Xia Qingqing looked neatly efficient.
She took a deep breath, “Captain, there are many hackers in ‘AW’ with a few possessing high-level skills. It’s hard for us to contend with them with our strength alone. Therefore, I believe we need to partner with more capable network security companies to strengthen our defenses.”
