In the meeting room.
Captain Yu Shan listened to Xia Qingqing’s proposal and nodded slightly.
“This is a good proposal, police and corporate cooperation, indeed, can help enhance our network security, currently, which security company is more suitable for collaboration with us?”
Everyone immediately began discussing the ‘police and corporate cooperation’.
Logically speaking.
This procedure would require reporting to various departments for approval and would take at least ten days to half a month to get processed.
But in cases of urgency, exceptions could be made.
While everyone was discussing, Yu Shan had already called Chief Zhang Biao, reported the situation, and received Zhang Biao’s approval.
Soon, two network security companies from Anling City were selected.
Jintang, Copper Wall.
Submit for evaluation, approval.
As the sun moved westward from its zenith, the azure sky below was graced with white, irregular clouds that gradually stained with a purple-red hue, Anling City basked in the orange-red glow, waiting for nightfall.
In Happiness Community, rental housing.
Lin Chuan was preparing materials for registering his personal studio.
7:00 PM sharp.
“Bao~ Have you eaten?”
Editor Youyou messaged Lin Chuan as if on cue.
Lin Chuan stared at the word ‘Bao’ in the message for a while, thinking to himself, has my relationship with Youyou developed to this stage already?
I’ve never had a girlfriend who called me such an intimate nickname.
Ah, that’s not right.
I don’t have a girlfriend!
“What’s up, Youyou?” Lin Chuan replied.
“Nothing much, I just heard from other editors that authors often don’t eat meals on time, and some even have only two meals a day, which can easily lead to stomach problems.”
Youyou’s message showed concern.
Lin Chuan felt a warmth in his heart and hurriedly replied, “Youyou’s thoughtful, but I’m in excellent health.”
“Is the weather still normal over there? Here in Modu, it’s sunny one moment and raining the next, several editors have already caught colds,” Youyou continued to show care.
Lin Chuan furrowed his brows and couldn’t help but stroke his chin.
Damn!
This feeling... it’s too motherly.
Ahem.
Little did he know!
In the Sailing Novel office building, after sending this message, Youyou turned to her colleague, the strategist Ming Yue, and asked, “Is showing this much concern for Lin Chuan a bit too affectionate?”
This felt too much like a message one would send to a boyfriend.
Ah, that’s not right.
I don’t have a boyfriend!
Ming Yue crossed her arms and shook her head, offering advice with her experience, “No, I used to message Qing Feng like that.”
Youyou’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, her lips curling, “Qing Feng is now your husband.”
Ming Yue smiled, “That’s not important; what is important is that Qing Feng became a platinum-tier author under my guidance, which proves this method has a significant effect on authors.”
Indeed, what Ming Yue said was true.
Most web novel authors are lonely individuals.
An average author’s social circle, apart from fellow writers and readers on the internet, is practically non-existent.
Fellow authors and readers are like companions on the journey, whose occasional words of encouragement can excite the author for half a day.
The editor, meanwhile, is like a guiding light.
If the editor shows consistent care, authors are generally going to stick with them, continuing to write under their guidance.
It’s a matter of emotional need.
Youyou murmured, “Achieve platinum-tier... that still seems too far away for Lin Chuan.”
“Not at all!” Ming Yue chimed in, laughing, “Isn’t Lin Chuan the most promising author under your guidance right now?”
“Of course,” Youyou replied without hesitation.
“Given that he’s your most promising author, then you should cultivate him towards the highest level,” Ming Yue said earnestly.
Youyou pondered, “Can Lin Chuan achieve platinum-tier?”
“Ever heard of the Pygmalion effect?” Ming Yue asked.
Youyou shook her head.
This was somewhat outside her area of expertise.
Mingyue smiled and explained, “This is a kind of expectation effect. When applied between editors and authors, your expectations for Lin Chuan have a positive influence on him and encourage him to move forward and strive in the direction you expect.”
“I get it now!”
Youyou nodded in sudden understanding, then took a deep breath, “First, let’s set a small goal for Lin Chuan, to reach the ‘Platinum’ level!”
Mingyue gave a faint smile, her finger tapping on Youyou’s forehead, and said with satisfaction, “Let’s see what Lin Chuan has sent.”
Youyou clicked the mouse.
Lin Chuan: “Youyou, I’m doing well.”
After thinking for a moment, Youyou’s slender and fair fingers tapped on the keyboard: “During this period, you have had two consecutive books with good results. What are your goals with writing?”
On the other end of the network.
The gentle evening breeze blew into the rented room, carrying with it the coolness of the old district and a slightly musty smell.
Lin Chuan sat in front of the computer, looking at Youyou’s message, and touched his nose: “I haven’t thought about this question.”
Youyou replied immediately, “If you consider writing a career, I think you should have a clear goal. Only with a goal will there be motivation.”
“Ten thousand orders!”
Lin Chuan stated his goal.
On the other end.
Mingyue glanced at it and smiled, saying, “That goal is too small. You should guide him to think towards achieving ‘Platinum’ status!”
Youyou nodded.
Thus, she coaxed gently, “Lin Chuan, I think your strength is far more than that. Your goal should be bigger!”
In the rented room, Lin Chuan was momentarily stunned, pondering quietly.
As Youyou said, writing was his career.
Whether it was a hobby or a golden finger, it all related to writing.
The performance of the books determined whether he could unlock the next career and gain skills related to that profession.
In the end, writing and achieving results was his ultimate goal.
Therefore, he should set a long-term goal!
After some thought, Lin Chuan set a long-term goal: “Youyou, I want to acquire Sailing Novel.”
Once he acquired Sailing Novel, he could enter a loop:
Publish books → assured success → gain Popularity Value → unlock new professions → acquire skills + automatic novel generation → continue to publish books...
Hiss!
Just thinking about it made Lin Chuan vaguely excited.
It was a closed loop!
And on the other end of the network.
The two female editors stared at the message from Lin Chuan, completely stunned.
Youyou couldn’t help looking towards her comrade: “Mingyue, I guided him according to your advice. Did something go wrong somewhere?”
“It should... be fine.”
Mingyue’s face was somewhat embarrassed, the corners of her mouth twitching slightly.
Lin Chuan’s message about acquiring Sailing Novel had caught her off guard!
When she guided Qing Feng in the same way, Qing Feng had been eager to achieve ‘Platinum’ status.
But Lin Chuan aimed even higher right from the start.
To acquire Sailing Novel!
Is that even possible?
An author writing for Sailing Novel is essentially helping it make money. How could one possibly think about acquiring Sailing Novel?
It’s unrealistic!
Moreover, is he really an author that we could have trained?
“Mingyue, how should we reply?” Youyou pursed her lips and asked again.
“Reply that you believe in him,” Mingyue said.
“What?”
Youyou’s willow-shaped eyebrows furrowed, her face full of confusion.
“This is a move called ‘using the enemy’s strategy against them’. If he dares to say it, we must dare to believe it!” Mingyue explained.
“Alright.” Youyou did as told.
It wasn’t long before.
Lin Chuan replied: “I didn’t expect you to support me so much, Youyou. I’ve decided, in a few days, I will publish another book under your name.”
Youyou’s face lit up with joy, and she responded, “No problem. What’s the theme for the next book?”
For some reason.
Youyou paused, then sent another message: “This time, it should be about a normal profession, right?”
