"What do you know?"
Wu Er snorted, "If this operation is successful, we'll be connected to the 'Morgan Group.' You know the situation in our line of business; without specialized channels, even if we dig up something, we might not be able to sell it."
"Do they really have that much power?" Wu San asked.
"Of course. I went through a lot of connections, and it took me a great effort to get this deal on the dark web," said Wu Er, glancing around.
The dark web, the underworld of the internet.
It could also be considered the black market in the eyes of tomb raiders.
Now, Touch Gold Captains, after excavating precious artifacts, mostly transact through this 'black market' of the dark web.
"It's good to be connected with the Morgan Group; then we won't have to worry about selling our goods," said Wu San with a sly smile.
"Naturally," Wu Er raised his eyebrows and smiled.
"By the way, there is an archaeological team now stationed at Dabao Mountain; they seem to be looking for this tomb too. It shouldn't affect us, right?"
Wu San looked towards the downstream direction.
In the embrace of the mountains, the Dabao River meandered like a silver ribbon, shuttling through the lush green forest.
The downstream area.
That was precisely where the National Archaeological Team Eight was stationed.
This place is located in the southeastern mountains of Anling City, in a remote location, two hours' drive away from the city area, with eighteen bends in the mountain road. The villages in the mountains are desolate and despondent, hardly a few households left.
Even the Hope Primary School built in earlier years was deserted here, overgrown with weeds.
So.
The two Touch Gold Captains, disguised as fishermen, were waiting here for the arrival of personnel from the 'Morgan Group.'
According to the agreement, people from the Morgan Group would arrive this afternoon.
"No impact. They won't find the entrance any time soon, and even if they stumble upon it, as long as we are inside the tomb, that's our territory. And besides, the Morgan Group's people will deal with these hassles. We just need to lead the way. After it's done, there's one million US Dollars," said Wu Er nonchalantly.
In his mind, the Morgan Group was a colossus of the underworld, involved in many grey and black industries, including arms.
So, troubles outside of tomb robbing were naturally to be resolved by the people from the Morgan Group.
"One million US Dollars, how shall we spend it?"
Wu San lifted his head, gazed up at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle. The azure sky, the birds, and the white clouds all seemed to take on the shape of US dollar bills.
At this moment, he had already begun to fantasize about the US dollars after the success.
Wu Er, on the other hand, glanced at the sun.
It was already four in the afternoon, and the burning heat of the sun had diminished quite a bit.
Golden specks of light flickered on the surface of the Dabao River, the slanting rays of sunlight fell upon the mountains, and occasionally birds would fly through the woodland, leaving behind a series of clear chirps.
"The people from the Morgan Group will be here soon; don't screw this up," Wu Er cautioned.
"Got it," Wu San grinned.
Sure enough.
On the winding road by the riverside, two black pickup trucks appeared.
Local license plates, not speeding, they looked like a leisurely countryside drive, not raising any suspicions.
From the first pickup truck, a young woman who looked to be around twenty-five alighted, a mixed-race beauty about 170 cm tall with good proportions. Underneath her sunglasses, her face blended Chinese softness with the assertiveness of a foreigner, her skin pale and smooth as jade, her nose high, and her thin lips slightly pursed, exuding a cool elegance.
"Lead the way."
The mixed-race young woman spoke fluent Mandarin.
Next to her, a fair-skinned burly man immediately took the lead and headed towards the riverside.
Their destination was where Wu Er and Wu San were located.
Wu Er and Wu San, hearing the approaching footsteps, left their fishing rods aside and quickly turned to look.
"My goodness, isn't she too beautiful?"
Just one glance at the mixed-race young woman, and Wu San couldn't help but exclaim in a low voice.
"Don't let your eyes wander!"
Wu Er immediately shot him a look.
Two burly men walked in front, with the mixed-race young woman following. One of them asked in a somewhat awkward Mandarin, "Wu family brothers?"
Er-ge nodded repeatedly, "Right, I'm Wu Er, and he's Wu San."
The mixed-race girl glanced at the Wu brothers, her expression indifferent, "When can we enter the tomb?"
Wu Er had already made plans, pointing to the large lake not far ahead, "It's the flood season now, and the river has risen a lot more than before. My plan is to dig a tunnel from over that mountain hollow, and it should take one night."
They used dragon-seeking and positioning, determining the burial point, to find that great tomb, which lies beneath the lake of Dabao River.
"So, we can enter the tomb by tomorrow?" the mixed-race girl asked.
"Right!" Wu Er nodded.
"The intelligence shows that this ancient tomb is full of mechanical traps. How confident are you?" The mixed-race girl, wearing sunglasses, gazed steadily at Wu Er and Wu San.
Not long ago,
she had accidentally obtained some intelligence about this ancient tomb. The artifacts within were of immense value, so she spared no expense in hiring Wu Er and Wu San as guides to the tomb.
"My brother is one of the top experts in mechanical techniques in the tomb-robbing circle. If he can't crack it, it's likely no one can," Wu San said with a chuckle.
"How does he compare to Mr. Lin?" the mixed-race girl asked further.
"Who is Mr. Lin?" Wu San asked blankly.
Wu Er's mouth twitched, his eyebrows raised slightly, "You know about Mr. Lin?"
"I just finished reading his notes. The Seven Stars Lu King Palace was his showpiece operation."
The mixed-race girl had a powerful intelligence system; she got hold of the hot topics within the tomb-robbing circle as soon as they emerged.
Clearly, anyone in the tomb-robbing circle who had read "Touch Gold Notes" believed that it was Mr. Lin who had robbed the Seven Stars Lu King Palace.
At least, he had been involved in it.
As for why he hadn't been caught?
Insiders speculated that it might be because Mr. Lin didn't cause much damage to the Seven Stars Lu King Palace, had returned the stolen artifacts truthfully, paid a large sum of money in compensation, and had no ties to the homicide case, thus avoiding prison.
There were various speculations, with no definitive conclusion.
Mr. Lin's true fans, especially those in reader groups, were amazed that Lin Chuan had the guts to publish his notes as if they were a novel.
At the same time, they were also surprised that Lin Chuan hadn't been jailed under such circumstances.
Very unscientific!
"Compared to Mr. Lin, I shouldn't be outdone in mechanical techniques," Wu Er thought for a moment and then bragged.
The person standing before him now was his wealthy employer, a major client.
He had to showcase his value as a partner!
Otherwise, the one million US dollars might just go to Mr. Lin's pocket.
"Supposed to?"
The mixed-race girl furrowed her brow slightly.
"The mechanical traps in the tomb at the bottom of the lake won't stop me!" Wu Er said with confidence, his tone firm.
Only then did the mixed-race girl nod, "Let's see your capabilities first. If you can't break through the traps, I'll call Mr. Lin."
"You know Mr. Lin?" Wu Er was slightly taken aback.
The mixed-race girl's lips curved up slightly, "Do I need to know someone to find them?"
Wu Er feigned a smile, feeling somewhat disheartened, thinking to himself that indeed, this was a person from the Morgan Group—wealthy and full of methods.
"In the middle and lower reaches of Dabao River, there is an archaeological team," Wu San mentioned.
The mixed-race girl glanced over, "Act as fast as possible, get the items before they do. Once the deed is done, the remaining eight hundred thousand US dollars will be deposited in your overseas accounts, clean."
"Okay."
The Wu brothers nodded seriously, smiles appearing on their faces.
That night,
The weather in summer was always unpredictable; thick clouds obscured the moonlight, darkening the area around Dabao Mountain—perfect for a dark and stormy night.
The winding mountain road rarely showed signs of vehicle tracks.
For safety, two black pickup trucks drove into the woods and concealed themselves.
Wu Er and Wu San, along with several burly Caucasian men, carried tools and rapidly dug a tunnel at a concealed hollow next to the lake.
By the time dawn had not yet broken, the tunnel was ready.
The Wu brothers, along with the mixed-race girl and several strong men, entered the ancient tomb.
