Anling Police Station.
Anti-Fraud Center, in the reception room.
Upon hearing Shen Qianqian's words, Director Zhou Tong's heart skipped a beat. He immediately looked at Lin Chuan and furrowed his brows, asking, "Self-surrender... What did Comrade Lin Chuan do?"
Chief Zhang Biao had specifically instructed him to take good care of Lin Chuan and even said that Shen Qianqian could check in on Lin Chuan's whereabouts from time to time.
Since he had been busy with the affairs of the Anti-Fraud Center lately and had no other cases involving Lin Chuan except for the Cyberspace Administration's investigation into Lin Chuan's disqualification of the anti-fraud composition "All-In," he planned to check on Lin Chuan's activities after some time.
Unexpectedly.
It was just a week, and Lin Chuan had already caused trouble on his own!
Lin Chuan didn't keep them in suspense and explained with a smile, "Director Zhou, I made an Antique Scam with a coin, profiting six million yuan."
Hiss—
Shen Qianqian and Zhou Tong both tightened their brows and took a deep breath.
Six million yuan... That's no small sum!
Making a profit from an Antique Scam means defrauding six million yuan, which is considered a particularly huge amount in fraud, punishable by more than ten years of fixed-term imprisonment.
Even, life imprisonment!
Shen Qianqian looked deeply at Lin Chuan.
At this moment, Lin Chuan was smiling, his demeanor calm and confident, not like a criminal suspect showing fear, but rather seemed at ease, as if he truly considered this place his home.
Her heart filled with doubts, she asked, "Comrade Lin Chuan, you know how to pull off an Antique Scam?"
"I know a little bit," Lin humbly said.
"May I ask, how exactly did you set up the scam, and from whom did you profit six million yuan?" Shen Qianqian pressed on.
Lin Chuan pondered for a moment and organized his thoughts, "Officer Shen, Director Zhou, the whole story begins with my old landlord's love affair. His partner gave a Century-Old Red Agate Bracelet to Zhang..."
The entire sequence of events, narrated by Lin Chuan, unfolded one by one.
"This is the three million cash I obtained from 'fraud,' and another three million is in my bank account. You can check if the funds are frozen," Lin Chuan concluded, pointing at the two suitcases on the table.
Shen Qianqian's brows were tightly furrowed, her mouth slightly open, her bright eyes incredulously fixed on Lin Chuan, her face expressing deep surprise.
From Lin Chuan's account, there were far too many questionable points in the entire incident.
But the truthfulness of the event was beyond doubt.
Because the three million cash was already laid out on the table, which was the best evidence.
"Comrade Lin Chuan, so you mean that after you realized Liu Qing was setting up Zhang with the Century-Old Red Agate Bracelet, you thought of counter-scheming against Liu Qing, right?"
Shen Qianqian took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, and began to inquire.
Lin Chuan nodded, "Yes."
"And you suspected that Liu Qing's Antique Scam gang was related to the factory area in the Myanmar area, implicated in money laundering for the factory area?" Shen Qianqian continued to ask.
"At first, it was just a suspicion, but my investigation revealed that she had close financial interactions with a certain overseas company, often participated in auctions, and always concluded deals at prices far above market value. I also overheard a conversation between Liu Qing and President Li inadvertently, so I confirmed their suspicion of money laundering for the factory area.
Here is the related evidence," Lin Chuan said.
Lin Chuan then took out a silver USB flash drive and placed it in front of Shen Qianqian.
"Even the evidence is ready..."
Shen Qianqian's mouth twitched slightly, thinking to herself that Comrade Lin Chuan was really well-prepared!
"This is just the preliminary evidence; new evidence is still being collected," Lin Chuan said with a smile.
The transaction had already been completed, and that coin should soon play its role, luring out the forces behind Liu Qing.
Director Zhou Tong of the Anti-Fraud Center, who had been listening on the side, thought for a moment and asked, "Comrade Lin, in your description, I detected something different."
"Please, Director Zhou, speak your mind."
"How could you be so sure that they would definitely believe that the coin was a Fengtian One Tael?" Zhou Tong posed the biggest doubt in his mind and the key point of the entire case.
He believed that Lin Chuan's set-up of this Antique Forgery Scam, which turned the tables on them, was indeed perfect, interlinked at every turn.
But then.
Why couldn't Master Zhang, known as the Grandmaster level figure of Anling Antiques, identify that the coin was a fake 'Fengtian One Tael'?
If he had identified it, the entire Antique Forgery Scam would be completely exposed, becoming unsustainable.
"Ah, there's an element of luck involved," Lin Chuan paused, "firstly, the coin itself was a high imitation of 'Fengtian One Tael.' I had learned a bit about cultural relic restoration, plus Master Zhang's failing eyesight allowed it to pass unnoticed."
"Comrade Lin, you've studied cultural relic restoration?" Zhou Tong's brows knitted halfway, quite astonished, "But to deceive a master of antiques is not easy, right?"
"Just a little bit."
Lin Chuan smiled and explained, "I have a friend, Bai Yang, the reader who was scammed in Lincang last time. He is a genius in cultural relic restoration, studying for his master's degree. I've been learning from him about cultural relic restoration knowledge, and Officer Shen knows him too."
In all honesty, declaring himself an absolute authority on Antique Forgery might be hard for Shen Qianqian and Zhou Tong to accept for the time being, so it's better to use Old Bai as a shield.
However, what he said was not made up.
During that period, Old Bai had indeed been in close communication with him, frequently sending some of his restoration works. Even before experiencing the 'Antique Forgery' profession, Lin Chuan often watched Old Bai's videos.
