Chapter 45 This is a different price
In the gym.
Shen Qianqian rarely showed a smile, “Lin Chuan, I’m just amazed at your ability to immerse in reasoning. The thought of kidnapping you was fleeting.”
Lin Chuan’s mouth twitched as he hastily waved his hands, “Officer Shen, you have to trust your author’s fans.”
“Since when did I become your fan?” Shen Qianqian was taken aback.
“You subscribed to everything, which, in my book, means you’re a fan,” Lin Chuan laughed.
Having subscribed to everything, what else could it be if not being a fan?
Shen Qianqian’s eyes flashed with an unusual color as she gave a bitter laugh, “If you put it that way, then sure. Your book ‘This Assassin Is Too Professional’ is indeed professional, and so are you!”
It was rare for Lin Chuan to receive recognition from Shen Qianqian, and he grinned with a smile.
Lin Chuan concluded his analysis here.
Hu and Shen knew what they had to do.
They immediately contacted the criminal investigation squad to conduct a thorough search of the fifth floor.
The fifth floor housed Hengli Company’s warehouse.
At the end of the corridor was the bathroom.
In the small utility room next to the bathroom, investigators found a newly opened but nearly empty bottle of disinfectant at the very bottom.
That alone was not enough to serve as evidence.
The warehouse manager of Hengli Company hurried over, unlocking the warehouse for the police.
This time.
The investigation work was personally conducted by Lin Chuan.
Lin Chuan first took a look around the warehouse.
Two windows here were open, there was no unusual smell inside, and there wasn’t much dust on the floor—it looked like it had been wiped clean. The bottoms of the stacked cardboard boxes also appeared slightly damp.
Lin Chuan scrutinized these cardboard boxes over and over.
In his mind, he imagined a 30-year-old woman facing an attacker and thought about how she might resist and try to escape.
An abstract approach to solving the case!
Finally, Lin Chuan’s mouth curved into a smile.
He had successfully immersed himself into the scenario!
On one of the stacked cardboard boxes in the corner, he found an indentation from an impact.
“How’s it going?”
Shen Qianqian pursed her lips and asked.
Lin Chuan didn’t speak but instead stepped out the door, studying the lock on the warehouse.
The door lock of the warehouse was of super B-grade core, with no signs of having been tampered with.
Afterward.
Lin Chuan took a deep breath and looked at Shen Qianqian, “This place is the primary crime scene.”
Shen Qianqian, Hu Daqiang, the detectives present, and the warehouse manager of Hengli Company, were all shocked.
This place is the primary crime scene?
The detectives immediately detained the warehouse manager.
Shen Qianqian inquired, “How can you be sure this is the primary crime scene?”
Lin Chuan smiled and pointed to the open windows, “Officer Shen, this place stores cardboard-boxed goods with moisture-proof labels, yet during the damp weather of March, those two windows were wide open. I have reason to suspect it was to allow the disinfectant’s scent to dissipate more quickly.”
Under normal circumstances.
With the windows open for ventilation, the disinfectant’s smell could evaporate clean in about 1 to 3 hours.
But in a closed environment, its pungent odor could linger in the air for a long time.
Shen Qianqian nodded and then said solemnly, “This deduction is indeed plausible.”
Lin Chuan continued to explain, “This is a warehouse, yet the floor is exceptionally clean, and the bottoms of the cardboard boxes are slightly wet. It’s very likely someone wiped the place down. Besides that, I also found this cardboard box.”
A cardboard box with a dented side suddenly appeared before everyone’s eyes.
The dent in the cardboard box looked like an impact from a dumbbell.
Hisss!
Everyone drew in a sharp breath, then expressions of surprise spread across their faces.
If the material of the dumbbell could be detected on the cardboard box, matching the dent from its impact, or if the victim’s DNA were found, this would be the primary crime scene.
The first crime scene was found, could solving the case be far behind?
It was within arm’s reach!
Because Lin Chuan had already examined the door lock, “There are no signs of forced entry on this lock, so the person with the key to the warehouse is very likely the murderer!”
Everyone simultaneously turned their gaze towards the warehouse manager.
This uncle in his fifties almost went weak at the knees and quickly said, “It’s not just me who has a key, Vice President Li also has one!”
Hu Daqiang returned to the police station with the relevant evidence, laughing heartily, to carry out the tests.
As expected!
The DNA of the victim was detected on the cardboard box.
The suspect was immediately identified.
The elderly warehouse manager, Vice President Li of Hengli Company.
After pinpointing the suspect, the case became much easier to crack, with just a search for related information and the corresponding evidence needed.
Knowing the answer, retracing the process is always somewhat simpler.
Eventually.
The evidence was incontrovertible, and Vice President Li of Hengli Company confessed to the crime.
Case solved!
As the evening advanced, a faint purple hue rose on the horizon.
Clouds like fish scales spread across the western half of the sky, turned red by the dying sun, emitting streaks of afterglow that fell upon the neatly arranged cityscape of Anling City.
Outside the police station, a crowd of journalists surrounded the area, making it impenetrable.
“Captain Hu, could you tell us your secret to solving cases so quickly?”
“Rumor has it that you enlisted the help of a genius detective; is that true?”
“Is this genius detective the same person who was nicknamed the Gambling King in the last anti-gambling campaign?”
Lin Chuan had been seen by quite a few people.
The last anti-gambling campaign had earned him the moniker of the Gambling King.
Many reporters from Anling City still had some recollection of him, so they all pursued the detectives of the Anling City Criminal Investigation Squadron for answers.
In the office of the Criminal Investigation Squadron.
Hu Daqiang’s smile was wider than an AK’s barrel, almost turning into a lopsided dragon king.
He personally brewed a fine cup of Longjing tea for Lin Chuan, chuckling, “Comrade Lin, we owe you big time for this case, or who knows how long it would have dragged on!”
Lin Chuan took the Longjing tea, took a sip, and honestly said, “Captain Hu, maybe you should give me a full subscription?”
“A full subscription?”
Hu Daqiang, who didn’t usually follow novels, didn’t understand the term ‘full subscription’.
“It means to subscribe to all of his novels, like that one ‘This Assassin Is Too Professional’,” explained Shen Qianqian with a smile.
After solving the case.
Shen Qianqian looked radiant, her tiredness gone, her high ponytail revealing her exquisitely beautiful face—an impressive and spirited police flower!
“A full subscription, no problem!”
Hu Daqiang laughed heartily, slipping in a bit of Cantonese, and then immediately pulled out his phone, fully subscribing to ‘This Assassin Is Too Professional’ under Shen Qianqian’s guidance.
After subscribing fully, Hu Daqiang squeezed his eyebrows, “Comrade Lin, I was wondering if you’re free tomorrow?”
Lin Chuan looked at Hu Daqiang with suspicion, “What’s up?”
Hu Daqiang grinned, seeming very amicable, “Comrade Lin, I’ll be frank with you, we’ve only solved one case; there are still two unsolved murders. The superiors are pressing hard, and the citizens of Anling City are waiting for a just outcome.”
“Captain Hu, this...” Lin Chuan’s lips twitched, seemingly reluctant to continue.
“Comrade Lin, what’s the matter?”
Hu Daqiang leaned in slightly, asking with concern.
Lin Chuan thought for a moment, “This would be a separate charge!”
I’m just a writer, how could I be solving cases with the police every day?
I need a raise!
