Wang Jun nodded slightly, then frowned. "My only worry is that other factions won’t be willing to let their research talent go."
"Then we’ll make them a very generous offer. For example, we can trade Evolution Potions for them," Ji Yizhi replied with a smile.
Wang Jun was taken aback for a moment, then gave a thumbs-up. "That could actually work!"
"Then let’s get moving. We need to fulfill the Master’s request as soon as possible," Ji Yizhi urged.
"We still need to determine the exchange rate first," Wang Jun said with a hint of resignation.
Ji Yizhi frowned in thought for a moment before saying, "How about ten Evolution Potions per person?"
One researcher in exchange for ten Evolvers. Other factions should find that ratio acceptable.
Wang Jun nodded. "Okay, we’ll start with that ratio for now. We’ll also need a proper process for vetting the talent. I’ll have the research institute come up with a proposal."
With that, Wang Jun immediately sent a message to Zhao Jun explaining the situation.
Zhao Jun was surprised for a second, then nodded. "No problem. The institute can form a talent acquisition committee, composed of experts from various fields. All candidates will have to be approved by this committee."
"You’re the experts in this area, so I won’t interfere. But I have one condition: you must ensure we only screen in people with genuine expertise for our institute," Wang Jun replied.
"Yes, sir! I guarantee it will be done," Zhao Jun responded.
After assigning the task to the institute, Wang Jun sent a message to Ren Yuanyang to request his approval.
"Master, we’re planning to recruit talent from all over the world to accelerate our research. We intend to trade Evolution Potions for researchers. What do you think?"
Ren Yuanyang replied immediately. "Of course. Just tell me how many Evolution Potions you need. And be careful with the screening process."
"Yes, I will," Wang Jun replied. He then immediately broadcast a series of messages to the world channel in a common international language.
"To all survivors, hello. I am Wang Jun, the person in charge of Dragon Base. In order to better face the coming disasters, our base is issuing a worldwide call for talent!"
"If you are a leading expert in your field, you can apply to join Dragon Base. We have a dedicated committee for evaluation. Once approved, we can arrange for transportation to our base."
"All specialists who join Dragon Base are guaranteed, at a minimum, to have no worries about food, drink, or personal safety. We will also do everything in our power to provide you with the conditions you need for your research!"
"Any faction that provides us with a qualified specialist will be gifted ten Evolution Potions for each one."
"We encourage everyone to apply. The future of humanity depends on our collective effort!"
Wang Jun also copied the message and sent it to the regional channel.
Seeing this message, all the survivors were stunned for a moment before a wave of discussion immediately erupted.
"Dragon Base is as domineering as ever! They’re trying to corner the market on all the world’s talent!"
"No worries about food, drink, or safety! Only Dragon Base has the resources for that. Food is a huge problem for every other faction!"
"What are you waiting for? I’m applying right now!"
"You have to have real skills, though. They’ve got a special committee reviewing applications. Your average person probably can’t get in."
"I’m not an average person, I’m a college student!"
"So what if you’re a college student?!"
"Forget college students, there are tons of grad students out there!"
"A degree alone isn’t enough anymore. You need actual accomplishments in a relevant field."
"Still, I’ve got to try!"
"Do you guys think the foreign factions will really be willing to let their researchers go?"
"Of course they won’t want to, but Dragon Base is offering too much! Ten Evolution Potions for one specialist. Anyone with half a brain can see what a massively profitable deal that is!"
"Exactly! Even if other factions keep their specialists, they can’t provide the right lab conditions or support any research. Keeping them just means another mouth to feed. Now they can trade them for Evolvers. Any sane person knows what the right choice is."
Meanwhile, the various factions were discussing the offer internally. Their debates didn’t last long; they unanimously decided to trade their talent for Evolution Potions.
In their view, under the current circumstances, one Evolver was far more useful than one researcher.
Even if that Evolver wasn’t an Intelligence-Type Evolver, they were still stronger than a researcher who could only hold a pen and run experiments.
Besides, becoming an Evolver also boosted one’s intelligence, which could compensate for the loss of a research specialist.
Immediately, factions from all over began messaging Wang Jun with inquiries. He sent a unified reply to all of them.
"Have the research specialists submit their own applications to Zhao Jun at our base. He will arrange the evaluation. If they pass, we can arrange for their transportation and will deliver the Evolution Potions at the same time."
Seeing this reply, they immediately sprang into action.
In just three minutes, Zhao Jun received over ten thousand applications.
The researchers already inside Dragon Base naturally saw Wang Jun’s call for talent as well, and they too began to discuss it.
"Looks like our research progress is too slow. The higher-ups are starting to look for outside help."
"Yeah, if we don’t produce some results soon, we might get replaced."
"I want to speed up our progress too, but our materials are limited! This won’t do. I need to talk to the higher-ups about this problem."
All at once, numerous research experts began reporting the problems they were facing to Zhao Jun, and some even messaged Wang Jun privately.
"Captain, it’s not that we aren’t trying hard, we’re genuinely limited by a lack of materials! The base has plenty of food and drink, that’s true, but we’re missing so many research materials!"
Wang Jun was stunned when he saw messages like this, but he quickly understood. He sent a message to the Dragon Base research group chat.
"Everyone, there’s been a misunderstanding! The base issued the call for talent not because you aren’t doing a good enough job, but simply because we need to accelerate our research speed! After all, our time is limited. We need to gather more specialists to speed up our scientific progress!"
