"Of course. What did you think?" Si Youqin glanced at Lin Mu in confusion and placed the braised chicken with potatoes on a side table.
Lin Mu was stunned. He had always thought the chicken was vacuum-sealed food they had salvaged, just tossed in a pan and stir-fried.
Beside him, Wang Feng was just as surprised. "I can’t believe our base is actually raising live chickens!"
Lin Mu frowned slightly. "Even if we are raising live chickens, we can’t just slaughter two at once! That’s too wasteful!"
Wang Feng nodded in agreement.
Just then, Lu Jiamei and the others walked in from outside.
"What perfect timing! The food is ready!" Xin Wan said, wiping her hands as she came over from the kitchen.
"You bet! We followed the scent all the way here!" Lu Jiamei replied with a smile.
Hearing the commotion outside, Ren Yuanyang emerged from the largest room on the yacht.
Everyone crowded around to greet him. "Hello, Chief!"
Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "Since everyone’s here, let’s get started. Bring out the alcohol and drinks we salvaged!"
"Yes, sir!" Si Youqin responded, immediately calling for others to help move the drinks.
Lin Mu and the others immediately followed. When they saw the storeroom piled high with spirits, red wine, and beer, plus all sorts of other drinks, they couldn’t help but marvel once again at how powerful the Peach Blossom Base truly was.
Following Si Youqin’s directions, they filled a long table with the drinks.
"This banquet is to celebrate the establishment of our base’s various departments. Help yourselves, but don’t be wasteful, don’t overeat, and drink in moderation. Alright, dig in!" Ren Yuanyang said a few simple words and, with a wave of his hand, declared the dinner had begun.
"Yes, Chief!"
Everyone responded in unison and immediately rushed with their plates toward the braised chicken with potatoes. The fastest among them, naturally, was Jin Ziyu!
Lin Mu and his two companions, who were lagging behind, were completely stunned. But Jianghu snapped out of it instantly. "We’d better hurry, or there won’t be enough of that braised chicken to go around!"
With that, he charged forward as well.
Lin Mu shook his head slightly. He took his plate and headed for the stir-fried fish slices to the side. He wasn’t picky; as long as he could eat his fill, he was happy.
Naturally, the legs and wings of the two chickens were reserved for Ren Yuanyang.
Ren Yuanyang took two mid-wings and a drumstick, then pushed the rest toward the others.
"The rest of you department heads can divide what’s left."
"Thanks, Chief!" Qin Haonan snatched a drumstick without hesitation.
Just then, Jin Ziyu sidled up again. "Is there any for me, Chief?"
Seeing that she could ask the question so clearly while still chewing nonstop, Ren Yuanyang chuckled helplessly. "Yes. Call over Lin Mu and his two friends as well. You all can split it amongst yourselves."
Evidently, besides the management team, Evolvers and people with professional Skills were highly favored by Ren Yuanyang.
"Chief, you’re the best!" Jin Ziyu exclaimed. "Lin Mu, Jianghu, Wang Feng, get over here! The Chief has a reward for us!"
Jianghu, who had only managed to grab one piece of chicken and was feeling pretty down about it, immediately brightened up when he heard Jin Ziyu’s call. He stood and followed Lin Mu toward Ren Yuanyang.
Wang Feng was a little surprised. He hadn’t expected Ren Yuanyang to save a piece of chicken for him.
Meanwhile, Si Youqin and the others looked on with envy.
Ren Yuanyang spoke again. "There’s no need to be envious. As long as everyone works hard, it won’t be long before we can eat chicken every day. You might even get sick of it by then!"
"Get sick of it? No way we’d ever get sick of it!"
"Yeah, eating chicken every day sounds a bit too good to be true!"
"What, you don’t trust our Chief?"
"Of course I trust him. I’m just wondering, do we really have that many chickens?"
"When you first arrived at Peach Blossom Base, did you ever imagine we’d be able to eat our fill at every meal?"
"No, I certainly didn’t!"
"So, at our base, anything is possible!"
Everyone nodded in deep agreement.
Just then, Qin Haonan suddenly spoke up. "Chief, there’s a projector here. Why don’t we put the regional channel on the big screen? We can watch it and keep an eye on what’s happening outside at the same time."
Ren Yuanyang nodded. "Good idea! Have Si Youqin help you connect your phone to the projector."
"You got it!" Qin Haonan put down his chopsticks, took out his phone, and walked over to Si Youqin.
Hearing Qin Haonan’s request, Si Youqin immediately put down her bowl and chopsticks and began setting up the connection. She was also eager to find out what was going on in the outside world.
Soon, Qin Haonan’s phone was connected to the projector, and he opened the regional channel.
All eyes focused on the big screen.
Si Youqin’s and the other women’s phones had been confiscated long ago. It had been a very long time since they’d had any news of the outside world.
"Peach Blossom Base really takes security seriously. They even have that many speedboats patrolling the perimeter!"
"What Peach Blossom Base? The great Taoyuan Yang himself said those five big ships aren’t part of Peach Blossom Base!"
"He was just saying that. You don’t actually believe him, do you?"
"Speaking of which, isn’t Peach Blossom Base supposed to be easy to talk to? Why did they just charge over and attack us? Luckily we were in a speedboat too, otherwise we would’ve definitely been sunk!"
"What? They attacked you directly? That’s brutal! In that case, we’d better not go over there!"
"Peach Blossom Base already denied it! Those five big ships aren’t theirs, so stop trying to pin everything on them!"
Seeing the discussion in the regional channel, Si Youqin and the others were completely baffled.
Although Jin Ziyu had gotten her phone back, she hadn’t shared any news from the regional channel with Si Youqin without Ren Yuanyang’s permission.
