Bao Mu completely understood why Peach Blossom Base would arrange for so many speedboats to patrol its perimeter. ’If I had a base like that, I’d do the same thing.’
"Alright. Be careful and pull back," Bao Mu urged.
"Yes, sir!"
As Bao Mu looked through the photos and videos sent back from the front, he suddenly asked, "Do normal trees sink or float in water?"
"Most of them should float," the staff officer beside him replied.
"Then is it possible to lash large trees together, to connect them into a single mass? Could you create a forest on the surface of the sea that way?" Bao Mu continued.
The staff officer frowned, deep in thought for a moment, before replying, "Theoretically, yes. But a tree’s roots can’t be submerged in water indefinitely."
"What if the trees have evolved?" Bao Mu said, his eyes narrowing.
The staff officer paused, then nodded. "In that case, it’s highly possible!"
"Peach Blossom Base was trading fruit and food for plants from very early on, including those that could be used as weapons. This proves their research into botany is incredibly advanced. They might even have the technology to trigger plant evolution!" Bao Mu analyzed.
"But... how is that possible? Our labs have been trying this whole time and have never once succeeded!" the staff officer said, his eyes wide.
"We failed to create the Evolution Potion too, but the Aircraft Carrier Base succeeded," Bao Mu said with a slight shake of his head. "The world is different now. Anything is possible."
The staff officer was taken aback for a second, then nodded.
Just then, an excited William burst into Bao Mu’s office.
"Sir, I’ve really become an Evolver! The Aircraft Carrier Base’s Evolution Potion is absolutely perfect! All the lab mice from yesterday’s test evolved successfully! Not a single failure or death!"
Lab mice are small, weighing only about twenty grams, so the required dosage is also minuscule. A single vial of Evolution Potion can be used to inject multiple mice.
They had tested a thousand lab mice yesterday, and today’s results had left William astonished.
Not a single failure in a thousand trials—it was more than enough to prove that the Aircraft Carrier Base’s Evolution Potion had a one-hundred-percent success rate.
Although Bao Mu had already guessed the outcome, he was still deeply shocked to hear William’s report.
"What about the results for the Evolution Potion we formulated with herbs?" Bao Mu asked in a low voice.
"The success rate has improved, but it’s not one hundred percent," William replied, his brow furrowed slightly.
’I originally thought that as long as I could confirm what ingredients the Aircraft Carrier Base was using, I’d be able to replicate it. But judging by the current test results, it’s not that simple!’
"So, you’re saying the Aircraft Carrier Base really does use herbs to create the Evolution Potion, but we just haven’t figured out the exact formula?" Bao Mu pressed.
William quickly explained, "We’ve already analyzed the components of their Evolution Potion. It really is just the active ingredients from licorice. We even matched the concentration exactly, but our experimental results are still nowhere near theirs!"
Bao Mu frowned deeply. "Should we be using a traditional Chinese brewing method instead of extraction and concentration?"
William blinked. "Is there a difference between the two?"
"A traditional brewing method might preserve some other trace elements. Test it. If that fails too, then it can only mean one thing: the Aircraft Carrier Base is using different herbs," Bao Mu said, his eyes narrowing.
"Different herbs?" William looked completely baffled.
"Do you remember when Peach Blossom Base was trying to buy up licorice, and Dawn Base refused to sell to them?" Bao Mu asked suddenly.
William paused. "Did they?"
In the beginning, Peach Blossom Base was obscure, so most people wouldn’t have paid much attention to news about it.
At most, people only knew it as a place where you could trade food for plants.
The staff officer, who had investigated Peach Blossom Base, nodded. "That’s right. Peach Blossom Base was definitely trying to buy licorice. Could the Evolution Potion developed by the Aircraft Carrier Base be connected to them?"
"Based on all the intelligence we have, it’s highly likely," Bao Mu said grimly. "And that would explain why the Aircraft Carrier Base went out of its way to send a carrier to protect Peach Blossom Base!"
The staff officer agreed. "Exactly! No wonder the Aircraft Carrier Base would burn so much fuel to move an entire carrier fleet over here!"
After listening to their analysis, William was stunned. Finally, he asked, "So... should I continue with my experiments?"
"Of course. At the very least, it will prove our theory," Bao Mu replied. "And in the meantime, our base can begin moving toward the Seventh-level Wind Sea Region!"
’First it was just food supplies, and now even the Evolution Potion is connected to them. The value of Peach Blossom Base has just skyrocketed.’ He would personally lead the fleet to conquer it!
William acknowledged and turned to head for the lab.
The staff officer, however, was taken aback. "Sir, are we going as well?"
’In the past, we always had Sea Eagle Country lead the charge. After the fighting was done, we would show up to take over.’
’Let others take the risks, while we just reap the rewards!’
Bao Mu sighed. "The other carrier fleets aren’t as obedient as they used to be."
The staff officer was taken aback again. "Sir, what do you mean? Would they dare defy your orders?"
"After the flood, the entire world order was reshuffled. No country has been able to maintain its old structure. Dragon Country is actually doing well, all things considered. They’ll have their infighting, but when faced with an external enemy, the vast majority of them will still band together," Bao Mu said with a sigh. "Look at the other countries. It’s incredibly rare for any of them to scrape together a fleet of even ten thousand men! And yet, Dragon Country has a behemoth like the Aircraft Carrier Base."
