The adjutant shook his head. "It must be because of those survivors on the regional channel. They haven’t contacted us proactively."
"Fuck! All these keyboard warriors online do is spout baseless speculation!" Bao Mu cursed.
’Although, their analysis wasn’t entirely wrong... but it scared away our potential recruits. Damn it!’
"Should we reach out to Anderson and his people, then?" the adjutant asked tentatively.
Bao Mu thought for a moment before nodding slightly. "Yes, go ahead and contact them."
"Yes, sir!" The adjutant immediately pulled out his phone and contacted Anderson.
Anderson, who had already found a Second-level Wind Sea Region to settle in, was a little surprised to receive the message from Xi’an Base. He never thought they would actually take the initiative to invite them!
But thinking about the recent major events, Anderson began to understand. ’It seems Xi’an Base has its eyes on our three thousand people! If that’s the case, there might be some room to negotiate. But how can we guarantee our safety?’
With this in mind, he tossed the question right back to Xi’an Base.
"We have no problem seeking refuge with you, but how will you guarantee the safety of our personnel?"
The adjutant frowned slightly upon seeing the reply. "We at Xi’an Base are offering you sanctuary. Naturally, we will guarantee your personal safety!"
Anderson chuckled and shook his head. "We’re not children. Let’s not play games with words."
"Then what do you suggest?" the adjutant shot back, passing the buck.
"I haven’t decided yet. I’ll tell you when I have," Anderson replied nonchalantly.
’They’re the ones who came to me, so they must be the ones in a hurry. The supplies on my ship can still last a few more days!’
The adjutant’s brow furrowed. He knew Anderson was trying to gain leverage, so he replied, "Fine. Take your time."
Then he abruptly ended the conversation.
Anderson was taken aback. He’d expected them to at least propose some kind of solution to get them to join Xi’an Base, but he never thought they’d give up so easily!
Just then, the adjutant posted a message directly to the regional channel: "Xi’an Base is recruiting unaffiliated survivors. Choose our base, and we guarantee your food and water. We are only recruiting three thousand people. Recruitment will close once the quota is met. Members of other fleets and bases, please do not inquire!"
Seeing this message, Anderson’s brow furrowed slightly. ’Is Xi’an Base planning to give up on us?’
Meanwhile, the other survivors began to buzz with discussion.
"Xi’an Base is recruiting survivors at a time like this. It must be for their Evolution Potion experiments!"
"Most likely. They always need some test subjects!"
"I think they might just be replenishing their numbers!"
"What makes you say that?"
"When Xi’an Base attacked Dawn Base, they were completely thwarted by the Aircraft Carrier Base. They must have lost a lot of people. The Aircraft Carrier Base just announced the beginning of the Dark Tide, and now Xi’an Base is recruiting. This proves they’re seriously short on manpower!"
"If they’re just recruiting people for work, then it’s totally fine to go!"
"That’s what I was thinking. After all, a lot of jobs need people to do them!"
"But I still wouldn’t recommend going. If you’re looking for a safe haven, you should join our own country’s Aircraft Carrier Base. That’s the safest option!"
"You can’t just say that. Xi’an Base’s technology is fully backed by Sea Eagle Country. Their tech is way stronger than Dragon Country’s. With the boost from all that high-tech, I believe Xi’an Base is the one with a future, the one that’s truly safe!"
"Fuck, can’t believe there are still foreign bootlickers around. Hurry up and crawl to your master’s base. Just don’t you dare come to the Aircraft Carrier Base!"
"I’m just speaking the truth. Did I strike a nerve?"
"Some truth that is. Are you just going to ignore all the world-leading technologies Dragon Country had before the flood?"
"Anyone can talk big. Anyway, I don’t believe Dragon Country’s tech can surpass Sea Eagle Country’s!"
"There’s no point arguing with a bootlicker like that. They’re convinced their masters are the strongest. You can’t change their minds!"
"How pathetic!"
Just as the survivors were arguing on the regional channel, there was a knock on Anderson’s door.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
"Come in!" Anderson said, looking up.
The door opened, and eight people walked in.
"Is something wrong?" Anderson asked with a slight frown.
"We saw on the regional channel that Xi’an Base is recruiting people. The number is the same as our group. Are we overthinking things? Maybe Xi’an Base isn’t planning to use us as test subjects."
"Someone from Xi’an Base just contacted me," Anderson explained. "But I demanded a guarantee for our safety, and they couldn’t offer any real assurances, so I stalled. If we can come up with some better safety measures, we can reach out to them!" He then scanned the faces in the room and continued, "You don’t actually believe what they posted on the regional channel, do you?"
The eight people immediately shook their heads.
"Of course not, but it’s an option, at least. That’s why we came to ask."
"Yeah, talk is cheap. We have to see what they actually do!"
"So, should we discuss what we can do to guarantee our safety while also joining a larger base to secure our future?"
Anderson nodded slightly. "We definitely need to discuss this. I can’t think of any good ideas off the top of my head!"
"Captain, I have an idea. See what you think of this!" one of them spoke up immediately.
"Let’s hear it!" Anderson immediately began to listen intently.
