Ren Yuanyang shot him an exasperated look. "That eager to get out?"
"I’m just trying to help the base by getting more seeds!" Qin Haonan said, insisting he was only thinking of the base.
"I think you’re just trying to get out of studying," Ren Yuanyang retorted, pursing his lips and ruthlessly exposing his true intentions.
"Leader, you don’t have to call me out like that! Some things are better left unsaid!" Qin Haonan complained, his face a mask of misery.
"Actually, those Daoist Scriptures are pretty interesting. They mention all sorts of things like Daoist Skills, Arrays, and talismans. Are you sure you don’t want to take a look?" Lu Jiamei asked with a smile.
At her words, Qin Haonan’s eyes lit up. "Really?"
"Of course!" Lu Jiamei nodded in confirmation. "I skimmed through them, and that stuff is definitely in there!"
"Well, in that case, I have to take a look!" Qin Haonan’s interest was instantly piqued.
Lin Mu was sitting nearby. Unlike Tu Chong and the others, who were just focused on stuffing their faces, he was quietly listening in on Ren Yuanyang’s group’s discussion.
He was utterly shocked when he heard them mention Daoist Skills, Arrays, and talismans.
’Aren’t those just feudal superstitions?’
’Could it be... they were never superstitions? What if humans in the past simply didn’t have enough Mental Energy to understand or control them?’ The possibility suddenly struck Lin Mu, and a look of pure disbelief spread across his face.
Aside from the newest arrivals, all members of Peach Blossom Base had already become Evolvers—and rare Intelligence-Type Evolvers at that!
’Perhaps their enhanced intelligence is what allows them to understand those Daoist Skills!’
With this realization, Lin Mu immediately felt that he should take the initiative and try to learn those Daoist Skills.
Just then, Jin Ziyu had already made her way over to Ren Yuanyang’s table. "Leader, what was that you were saying about Daoist Skills?"
Ren Yuanyang began to explain with a smile. Lin Mu took the opportunity to edge closer. Since someone else had asked the question, he could conveniently listen in.
However, he noticed that Jin Ziyu’s attention didn’t seem to be on the leader’s words at all. Instead, it was completely fixed on the food covering their table.
Ren Yuanyang gave a brief explanation, and he too noticed Jin Ziyu’s true intentions. He felt a bit exasperated.
"Go find a stool and eat with us," Ren Yuanyang said suddenly.
"Okay, thanks, Leader!" Jin Ziyu immediately grabbed a stool from nearby and started eating right next to Ren Yuanyang.
Lu Jiamei and the others were already used to it. Jin Ziyu had absolutely no resistance when it came to food.
Yu Ren was very surprised to see this. He leaned over and asked Jianghu in a low voice, "Are Jin Ziyu and the leader on good terms?"
"I’d say they are! She was the first Evolver to join Peach Blossom Base, other than the leader himself," Jianghu explained. "Back then, Jin Ziyu stumbled upon Peach Blossom Base with her yacht. The leader subdued them with ease, and when he saw they weren’t here to attack—and since the base needed more people anyway—he just went with the flow and took them in."
Yu Ren nodded in understanding. "They were really lucky, then!"
"Yeah," Jianghu nodded, then asked with a puzzled look, "But aren’t you curious how the leader, a Wood-Type Evolver, could so easily defeat a Gold-Type Evolver?"
As everyone knows, Metal Overcomes Wood. Under normal circumstances of Attribute Incompatibility, it’s very difficult for the disadvantaged party to win.
Yu Ren was taken aback for a moment, then smiled. "Not at all. The leader is so strong that he can completely overcome the disadvantage from an Attribute Incompatibility."
"Huh?" Now it was Jianghu’s turn to be stunned. "The leader is that strong?"
Although Jianghu had arrived at Peach Blossom Base a few days before Yu Ren, he had never seen Ren Yuanyang use his Superpower, much less seen him fight. He had always assumed Ren Yuanyang’s Superpower was only strong when it came to making plants evolve and that he wasn’t much of a fighter.
So now, hearing Yu Ren claim that Ren Yuanyang was incredibly strong, he was naturally astounded.
"Of course. Even if I went all out, the leader could handle me with one hand," Yu Ren replied with a helpless shrug. "If he used his full strength, I’d probably be insta-killed."
"Is it really that much of an exaggeration?" Jianghu’s eyes widened in disbelief.
Yu Ren didn’t answer. Instead, he suddenly jabbed his chopsticks toward Jianghu’s neck.
The two of them were too close, and Yu Ren’s movement was so fast that Jianghu couldn’t react at all. He could only watch, frozen, as the chopsticks shot toward him.
But just half a centimeter from Jianghu’s neck, Yu Ren stopped. "How was that for speed?" he asked.
Jianghu’s back was already drenched in a cold sweat. He hastily put some distance between himself and Yu Ren.
"Relax, we’re all from Peach Blossom Base. I wouldn’t attack one of our own," Yu Ren explained. "I just wanted you to get a feel for that speed so I could continue my explanation."
Jianghu let out a long sigh of relief. He thought for a moment before replying, "Your speed just now was incredible. Even if I’d been prepared, I doubt I could have lasted more than a few exchanges."
As a Water-Type Evolver, his defense was on the weaker side; defending against someone like Yu Ren would indeed be difficult.
"The leader can easily block an attack at that speed, and with room to spare," Yu Ren added, before picking up a large piece of Dongpo pork and stuffing it into his mouth.
Jianghu’s eyes went wide. "He’s that incredible? So you’re saying the leader could crush us with his physical prowess alone?"
"What else did you expect?" Yu Ren retorted.
Jianghu was utterly dumbfounded, so much so that he forgot to eat.
This little interlude didn’t attract much attention. People were constantly getting up to grab more food, so no one paid any mind when Jianghu shot up from his seat.
