"There’s no food at the moment; you’ll have to wait for mealtime!" Des said, spreading his hands helplessly. "They have fresh rice and vegetables here, and it’s delicious. Plus, you can eat your fill!"
"You’re sure you can eat your fill?" James asked, a little skeptical.
"This is Peach Blossom Base. Isn’t it normal to eat your fill here?" Des retorted with a smile.
James froze. "This is Peach Blossom Base?"
"Oh, so you didn’t even know who captured you?" Des asked, a little surprised.
"The moment we met, he knocked us out cold with his shield. We just woke up. How would we know who they are!" James shook his head. "But, since this is Peach Blossom Base, maybe this is an opportunity for us!"
"Yeah. They’re powerful, and we don’t have to worry about food and drink. This place is practically a paradise on earth!" Des agreed.
James nodded. "I hope so!"
The cabin fell silent, and everyone began to close their eyes and rest.
At that moment, Bao Mu of Xi’an Base received a report from his subordinate.
"Sir, our Evolver team was ambushed and we’ve lost contact!"
"What!" Bao Mu shot to his feet. "How is that possible?"
The subordinate who came to report continued, "Their last message said they were being attacked by an unknown team. We’ve already sent speedboats over, but so far, there’s been no news!"
"Another unknown team?" Bao Mu’s brow furrowed tightly.
"According to the Evolver team’s description, the speedboats the enemy was driving were identical to our base’s!"
Bao Mu paused. His first reaction had been that the staff officer was playing a spy-versus-spy game, coordinating with Jing Shu to trap and kill their Evolvers. Now, it seemed that wasn’t necessarily the case.
"It seems it’s the same team that attacked our supply ship!" Bao Mu said with a frown. "Their base is most likely near Dawn Base. Otherwise, it’s impossible that they could ambush us in the area every single time!"
"But we’ve already searched most of the sea in that vicinity!" the subordinate replied, his brow also furrowed.
"This is the sea! Even with limited fuel, it should be possible for them to move around nearby. This is probably the legendary guerrilla warfare they talk about!" Bao Mu analyzed, thinking himself clever.
"Then what should we do? Continue to expand the search area?"
Bao Mu shook his head. "This time, our Evolvers managed to send a message back, but they were still wiped out. This means the enemy can defeat that many Evolvers in a direct confrontation. First, stabilize Dawn Base. Then, we’ll use it as a foothold to resume the search. I’m getting more and more curious about Peach Blossom Base!"
"Sir, you mean to say Peach Blossom Base is behind all this?"
"It’s highly likely. There probably isn’t any other base nearby that’s so mysterious and yet so powerful!" Bao Mu nodded slightly. "Regardless of whether it’s them or not, finding them is crucial!"
"Yes, sir!" The subordinate turned and left to relay Bao Mu’s orders.
The ships that had just occupied Dawn Base were slightly stunned when they received Bao Mu’s orders. But after they learned what had happened to the Evolver team, they all grew serious.
Any force that could wipe out so many of their Evolvers was certainly not simple, but they weren’t afraid. After all, they had large ships and cannons; they wouldn’t give the Evolvers a chance to get close!
From observing the abilities of Xi’an Base’s own Evolvers, they also understood that Evolvers were not gods, nor were they invincible.
And so, the team occupying Dawn Base immediately arranged for a large number of speedboats to begin patrolling the surrounding area densely.
Qin Haonan and his team, who were monitoring the situation at Dawn Base, had no choice but to pull their speedboat back some distance.
"Sending out so many speedboats to patrol... they must have plenty of fuel!" Qin Haonan muttered as he watched the Xi’an Base speedboats, then pulled his gaze back to the computer in front of him.
That’s right—Qin Haonan was actually reading and studying!
In the previous battle, Ren Yuanyang had deliberately made Qin Haonan wrestle with the enemy’s Gold-Type Evolver. As expected, Qin Haonan was defeated!
Ren Yuanyang could have charged in and subdued all those Evolvers himself, but he didn’t. Instead, he had Qin Haonan experience defeat!
Ren Yuanyang did this on purpose. He wanted to make Qin Haonan understand that his own Mental Energy was lagging behind. Only then would he have the motivation to study!
Ren Yuanyang’s efforts were not in vain. The battle truly made Qin Haonan realize his own shortcomings. He felt he was on the verge of being unable to keep up with his leader’s pace.
So, upon returning to the speedboat, he braced himself and began studying the Daoist Scriptures that could improve his Mental Energy.
The night passed without incident. At eight o’clock the next morning, everyone on the supply ship was already up and washed. A broadcast sounded at that moment.
"Starting today, breakfast on the supply ship will be served from seven to eight-thirty. You will depart for work at nine, break for lunch at eleven-thirty, and work again in the afternoon from two-thirty to five-thirty. Dinner service will be for a longer duration. When it’s time, everyone please go to the cafeteria for your meals!"
Upon hearing the broadcast, everyone immediately headed for the cafeteria.
"These work hours are amazing! And most importantly, we get three meals a day!"
"From now on, Peach Blossom Base is my home! I’m not going anywhere else!"
"Same here!"
Many of them had dark circles under their eyes, having been too excited to sleep well the previous night. Even so, they were full of energy!
Meanwhile, breakfast was also delivered to the cabin where the Evolvers were being held.
Their breakfast was very simple: just plain congee and some pickled vegetables.
Even so, James and the others ate with great relish. They had never eaten such delicious pickled vegetables back at Xi’an Base!
