Lu Jiamei immediately caught on. "Chief, are you talking about those evolved white mice?"
Ren Yuanyang nodded slightly. "Compared to the people from the supply ship, I trust those white mice more. While using them as lookouts has its limitations, at least we don’t have to worry about their loyalty. We’ll talk about expanding the patrol team once the people from the supply ship have proven their own loyalty."
"I understand!" Lu Jiamei replied with a nod.
Xin Wan suddenly proposed, "Actually, we could have all the women from the yacht join the patrol team!"
Ren Yuanyang and the others were slightly taken aback.
Xin Wan continued to explain, "All our operations are on the right track now. The people from the supply ship know what they’re doing, so we have enough manpower. Even if the women from the yacht don’t participate in the labor, it won’t have a major impact on overall production."
Ren Yuanyang already understood what she meant. He replied, "I think that’s an excellent suggestion from Xin Wan. What do you two think?"
Lu Jiamei and Hua Lingfang both nodded. "We have no objections either!"
"Then it’s settled!" Ren Yuanyang declared decisively. "Effective immediately, Si Youqin and her entire group from the yacht are to be transferred to the patrol team. The people who were supervising the various work details will promote a team leader from their subordinates to take over. Make sure there’s a proper handover!"
"Understood!" Lu Jiamei and the others replied.
"Even though they’re in the patrol team, Si Youqin and her women can still patrol the work sites and supervise their work while they’re at it," Ren Yuanyang added with a smile.
"I understand," Lu Jiamei replied.
After dinner, Lu Jiamei went straight to Si Youqin and relayed Ren Yuanyang’s orders to her.
Upon hearing the orders, Si Youqin was overcome with excitement. "Thank the Chief for his trust! I’ll go inform the others right now!"
"Yes. Make sure you don’t disappoint the Chief or betray his trust," Lu Jiamei said with a nod.
"Don’t worry, Minister Lu," Si Youqin immediately declared. "The Chief saved all of our lives. He helped us become Evolvers and gave us hope again. His kindness is a debt we can never fully repay. All we can do is become the sharpest swords in his hand and cut down any obstacle in his path!"
Lu Jiamei nodded, satisfied. "Good. Go on, then. Handle the handover properly, and don’t let it delay the base’s production."
"Yes, Minister Lu!" Si Youqin replied, then turned and left, her excitement palpable.
Soon, the women from the yacht received the news from Si Youqin. They were just as excited and immediately began looking for candidates to become team leaders.
For the team leader positions, loyalty was still the top priority, followed by work ethic and management skills.
Of course, the tasks at Peach Blossom Base were all quite simple, so work ethic was almost a non-issue. The main consideration was management ability.
Soon, team leaders were appointed for every task. Nearly all of them were Dragon Country compatriots from the supply ship, with one exception: the captive, James.
James’s promotion to team leader had been reported directly to Ren Yuanyang for his final decision.
James was the first to defect, and his recent work performance had been outstanding. Ren Yuanyang didn’t hesitate much before deciding to promote him. It would also serve to make an example of him, motivating the other captives to work harder.
When James learned he had been promoted to team leader in charge of harvesting the oil-producing fruits, he was utterly astonished.
"There’s no need to be so surprised. The Chief sees your loyalty and hard work," Si Youqin said with a smile.
"Thank you, Captain Si! Thank you, Chief! I’ll be sure to work even harder from now on!" James said excitedly.
Si Youqin waved a hand and turned to leave.
Meanwhile, in the Peach Blossom Base office, a thought suddenly struck Xin Wan. "Chief," she asked, "shouldn’t we establish our own currency system?"
