Si Youqin saw three speedboats racing toward the edge of the Banyan Forest, and she immediately grew tense.
Their base only had one speedboat. Since three were now approaching, ’They’re probably enemies!’
Just then, Hua Lingfang walked out from inside. "Don’t be nervous," he said. "It’s the Leader and the others. They’re back!"
Si Youqin was stunned. "The Leader went out and managed to get two more speedboats?"
Hua Lingfang nodded.
Before their return, Ren Yuanyang had already used his phone to briefly explain the situation to Hua Lingfang, which was why he had come to reassure Si Youqin.
He also knew that someone on one of the speedboats was severely injured. It seemed the Leader wanted to save him, which was another reason he had come out to greet them.
The three speedboats quickly pulled up before them.
"Elder Hua, get on the second speedboat!" Ren Yuanyang called out from the deck, pointing to the boat behind him.
"Alright!" Hua Lingfang nodded. As soon as the second speedboat pulled up in front of him, he immediately jumped aboard.
Ren Yuanyang followed him, jumping onto the second speedboat as well.
When Hua Lingfang saw the injured man, he froze.
"He’s a Mutant. It seems he has fish-like abilities," Ren Yuanyang explained in a low voice. "According to his men, his mind is still intact, so we brought him back. This is also a chance to learn more about Mutants."
Hua Lingfang nodded slightly, his brow furrowed. "The only question is how different Mutants are from regular people."
"Let’s just focus on treating him first," Ren Yuanyang replied.
Hua Lingfang walked over to Yu Ren and examined his wound. He couldn’t help but remark, "He’s incredibly lucky. It didn’t hit a major artery!"
"His trachea is nearly severed, yet he’s still alive. He must have been using his mutated gills to get oxygen from the water!"
Seeing that the man’s condition was stable for the moment, Hua Lingfang took his wrist and began to check his pulse. After a careful diagnosis, he said, "I’ve never treated a Mutant before. I can only proceed as if you were a normal human. If you agree, just blink your eyes."
An Earth Spike was lodged in Yu Ren’s neck, injuring his trachea and making it impossible for him to speak. That was why Hua Lingfang had asked him to blink.
Yu Ren immediately blinked. ’I have no other choice right now,’ he thought.
"Since you agree, I’ll begin!" Hua Lingfang took the medical kit from Hua Wen, removed an anesthetic he had made from Mandala Flowers, and gave Yu Ren a small injection.
Because Ren Yuanyang had enhanced those Mandala Flowers, the anesthetic was incredibly potent. Yu Ren felt only a slight sting before he lost consciousness.
Seeing that the anesthetic had taken effect, Hua Lingfang immediately prepared to remove the Earth Spike. The process required extreme care. He carefully observed the spike’s position, determined to avoid causing any further injury.
Seeing Elder Hua’s caution, Ren Yuanyang immediately suggested, "Couldn’t we just have an Earth-Type Evolver remove the Earth Spike?"
Elder Hua’s eyes lit up. "Of course! Why didn’t I think of that! If we break the Earth Spike down into tiny particles and remove it from his body, it would cause the least amount of damage and be a much cleaner removal!"
With Elder Hua’s agreement, Ren Yuanyang immediately called out to Si Youqin, who was standing on the duckweed outside. "Si Youqin, come here a second! We need your help!"
Si Youqin immediately boarded the speedboat. "Leader, what do you need?"
"Remove the Earth Spike from his neck without causing any more damage," Ren Yuanyang said, gesturing to the unconscious Yu Ren.
She went to the Earth Spike, focused her mind, and began manipulating it, causing it to break down and exit the wound.
Working at close range and with great care, she smoothly removed the Earth Spike from the wound.
With the Earth Spike gone, a horrifying wound was revealed on Yu Ren’s neck. Hua Lingfang immediately got to work treating it.
After clearing away the congealed blood, Hua Lingfang did something astounding: he applied a bit of ointment directly to the ruptured trachea!
Si Youqin, watching nearby, was completely stunned. She couldn’t help but ask in a low voice, "Can you use an ointment internally?"
Hua Lingfang smiled and explained, "This particular ointment is brewed from the herbs the Leader enhanced. It has special anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, and tissue-regenerating properties."
Si Youqin was stunned again. "I mean, aren’t these kinds of ointments supposed to be for external wounds?"
"You’ll see why I used it internally in a moment," Hua Lingfang said without further explanation, instead focusing his attention on the wound.
The small dab of ointment on the rupture was rapidly absorbed, and the trachea began to close at a speed visible to the naked eye!
"Is... is that a miracle drug?" Si Youqin’s eyes widened in disbelief.
"This is the effect of the Leader’s enhancement!" Even though he was already aware of the medicine’s efficacy, Hua Lingfang couldn’t help but marvel.
"Does that mean we don’t have to be afraid of getting hurt anymore?" Si Youqin’s face lit up with excitement.
Ren Yuanyang glanced at her. "Even though we can recover quickly, the pain is still real. It’s always best not to get injured in the first place."
Si Youqin nodded. "You’re right, Leader. We’ll be careful!"
The tracheal wound was relatively small, so after waiting for it to fully heal, Hua Lingfang treated the other areas before finally applying a poultice of the ointment to the wound on the neck and bandaging it up.
"And that’s it?" Lu Jiamei asked, somewhat surprised.
"That’s all it takes," Hua Lingfang nodded.
