"These seeds are incredibly evolved! I really don’t know how Peach Blossom Base managed to create something like this!"
Hearing their exclamations, Ji Yizhi knew the seeds must be just as Lin Mu had described. Still, he had to see these strange crops with his own eyes.
In the soilless cultivation field, stalks of green wheat stood perfectly straight on the water’s surface. Ji Yizhi curiously lifted a stalk from the water, revealing an incredibly well-developed root system beneath.
He placed the stalk into another pool of water, and it remained standing tall and proud.
’Peach Blossom Base really is amazing!’ Ji Yizhi thought with admiration. Then he turned to the agricultural experts. "You must take good care of these crops. They’re the food supply for everyone in our base!"
"Yes, Captain, rest assured! We will definitely take good care of them!" the agricultural experts replied in unison.
Even if Ji Yizhi hadn’t reminded them, they would have devoted themselves completely to studying these crops. After all, the plants completely overturned their understanding of agriculture and had thoroughly piqued their curiosity!
This entire scene was being live-streamed to Wang Jun’s side. The agricultural experts at the Aircraft Carrier Base were equally astonished and were growing impatient!
However, the Enhancement Seeds had just departed from Dawn Base and wouldn’t arrive at the Aircraft Carrier Base for another ten-plus hours.
They could only feast their eyes on the live stream for now.
Looking at the fast-growing crops, Ji Yizhi suddenly said to Wang Jun, "Old Wang, to save a bit of fuel, I won’t head back just yet. I’ll stay here a while longer!"
Wang Jun was taken aback for a moment, then rolled his eyes and replied, "If you don’t want to come back, just say so. What’s this nonsense about saving fuel? Is my fleet going to save that much fuel with one less person?"
Ji Yizhi smiled slightly. "I just want to learn a bit more about Peach Blossom Base!"
"Mm, you can wait until Master lets you tour Peach Blossom Base!" Wang Jun nodded.
"You know me best, Old Wang!" Ji Yizhi laughed heartily. "You’ll have to put in a little extra effort with the Aircraft Carrier Base, then!"
"It’s not a big deal. Everything is on the right track now, so there isn’t too much to do," Wang Jun said with a wave of his hand. He continued, "When you guys get to tour Peach Blossom Base, don’t forget to take some pictures for me to see!"
"As long as Master doesn’t object, I can live-stream the whole thing!" Long Zhan replied with a smile.
"Good," Wang Jun nodded slightly, then asked, "What do you guys think? Should we reveal these enhanced crops now?"
Long Zhan immediately shook his head. "We just revealed the Evolution Potion. If we also reveal these enhanced crops, we might become a target for everyone. We aren’t afraid of the other fleets, but their harassment would be a real nuisance!"
"Actually, I don’t think it matters," Ji Yizhi said with a faint smile. "Even if we reveal it, no one would dare to attack me. They’ll only want to trade with us for food!"
Long Zhan was slightly stunned. "Are you sure they won’t team up to rob us?"
Ji Yizhi shook his head. "Putting aside whether they even have that much fuel, even if they did, would you attack a base that sells Evolution Potions to outsiders, can produce a massive amount of food, and possesses an aircraft carrier?"
Long Zhan was stunned again. He pondered for a moment before finally shaking his head.
Selling Evolution Potions to outsiders implied they had a large supply, and it was very likely that the vast majority of their personnel were Evolvers. The impact of Evolvers in combat was immense; their observation skills and reaction speeds were far superior to those of ordinary people.
The effect of a few Evolvers in a battle wasn’t very obvious, but once Evolvers were formed into organized units, their power was extraordinary!
Being able to produce a large amount of food meant the base’s logistical support was excellent. At the very least, its people could eat well and eat their fill. Wars are won with logistics, and no one wants to face an enemy with a strong supply line.
Possessing an aircraft carrier showed that the base’s naval power was by no means weak. Not every country could build an aircraft carrier!
"We need to leverage the population advantage of our two bases. This was bound to be revealed sooner or later, so we might as well announce it openly. At the same time, it can help Master continue to draw fire from Xi’an Base!" Ji Yizhi continued.
Wang Jun and Long Zhan both nodded in agreement.
"In that case, let’s have both our bases announce it at the same time," Wang Jun said.
Soon, the Aircraft Carrier Base and Dawn Base made an announcement to their respective populations.
"Through the diligent efforts of our research personnel, we have finally developed crops with short growth cycles and high yields. Starting today, the Aircraft Carrier Base and Dawn Base will no longer have to worry about food shortages!"
The announcement was somewhat vague, not specifying by how much the growth cycle was shortened or the yield was increased. Even so, the survivors in both bases erupted in cheers.
"This is great! We finally don’t have to eat fish every day!"
"After becoming Evolvers, the researchers’ brains must be working better. Otherwise, how could we be having one breakthrough after another like this!"
"Exactly! That perfect Evolution Potion will definitely put us way ahead of everyone else!"
"I’m gonna go brag about this in the regional channel!"
"Too late, someone already posted the announcement in the regional channel!"
"Really? Are the other survivors super jealous of us?"
"Not really. Go take a look at the regional channel for yourself and you’ll see!"
Everyone quickly switched over to the regional channel.
"It’s just a vague announcement. How can you all get so worked up over it?"
"This kind of announcement is purely to placate you all. Don’t take it seriously!"
"I don’t think so. It seems like Captain Wang has never lied to us before!"
"I think it might be real. After all, Dragon Country’s agricultural technology was very advanced. Before the floods, their hybrid rice fed countless people!"
"Based on this announcement, it feels like this breakthrough is even more amazing than hybrid rice! What fleet out there can claim to have completely solved its food problem right now?"
"Yeah, even the fish in the sea are hard to catch now!"
"Our fleet stopped fishing a long time ago. With all the toxins and viruses, would you even dare to eat them if you caught them?"
"For them to claim two bases will never have food shortage problems again... that’s a pretty bold statement!"
"Based on Dragon Country’s culture, they don’t usually make absolute claims. Since they dared to say it like this, it’s very likely true!"
"Then just how short must the growth cycle be, and how high must the yield be for the crops they developed?"
"Since they’ve announced it, they’ll probably mobilize all their survivors to start planting. I guess we’ll find out soon enough!"
"Right now, I just want to trade with them for some food."
Wang Jun spoke up at the right moment: "We will be opening up food trading soon. For now, we are considering a barter system where you can trade flora and fauna with us."
"That’s great! As a single person, I have no use for so many Evolution Potions. It’s much better to trade them for food!"
"The guy above is humble-bragging so hard. Can you give me an Evolution Potion? I can be your lackey!"
"Sorry, I don’t need a lackey, I need food!"
Back at the Xi’an Base, Bao Mu frowned deeply as he read the messages in the regional channel. "How did they make another breakthrough in agriculture so quickly?"
"Could it be a Smoke Bomb released by the Aircraft Carrier Base?" his adjutant asked, also frowning.
Bao Mu shook his head. "A Smoke Bomb like this has no purpose other than to deceive themselves!"
"If it’s not a Smoke Bomb, then it must be the effect of the Evolution Potion!" the adjutant continued. "The boost in intelligence after becoming an Evolver is quite significant!"
Bao Mu deeply agreed. "You’re right. Has our team sent to the Aircraft Carrier Base to buy Evolution Potions returned yet?"
"They should be back soon!"
The adjutant had barely finished speaking when a voice came from outside: "Reporting, Sir! The team sent to purchase Evolution Potions has returned!"
Hearing this, Bao Mu immediately stood up and walked outside, with the adjutant following close behind.
