After Ren Yuanyang and the others finished their discussion, Long Zhan immediately dispatched all the speedboats to expand the patrol range. If they found any teams from the Xi’an Base, they were to hunt them down relentlessly!
At the same time, the Aircraft Carrier Base also began to move. An aircraft carrier and ten escort frigates departed from the base.
The survivors at the Aircraft Carrier Base who witnessed this scene immediately began to buzz with discussion.
"What’s going on? They actually deployed an aircraft carrier?"
"Did they discover another foreign invasion?"
"Honestly, we shouldn’t be so fixated on foreign invasions. After all, there’s basically no land anymore. The sea levels have risen so high, and the world is so much bigger now... it’s impossible to tell where national borders are supposed to be!"
"Yeah, all we need to do is stay here, protect the base, and keep developing steadily! Why do they have to deploy a carrier?"
"An aircraft carrier guzzles fuel like crazy! The rendezvous of the three carriers must have already used up a ton of it. Now they’re sending another one out on a mission? The Aircraft Carrier Base is probably going to run out of fuel!"
"I doubt it. The higher-ups must have planned to keep some in reserve!"
"I bet the carrier won’t be going too far this time."
"That’s probably it!"
With so many survivors at the Aircraft Carrier Base, the news inevitably leaked.
When the fleets from other countries in the regional channel heard the news, they all began to fear for their own safety.
"What is the Aircraft Carrier Base planning? The borders are already gone. Are they still planning to drive out all non-Dragon Country teams?"
"We’re not Lvzhi Country. We don’t have any major grievances with Dragon Country, so there’s no need to go straight to war, right?"
"You guys don’t need to be so scared. An aircraft carrier’s speed is limited, after all. Just run as soon as you spot it! If you can’t fight ’em, you can still run from ’em!"
"I’m not scared. I just don’t want internal conflict. The world is in this state, and humanity should be putting aside its differences and uniting!"
"Tch, talk is cheap. Well, I’m scared. I’m low on fuel, so if I run into a team from the Aircraft Carrier Base, I’m surrendering on the spot!"
"Same here. We can’t fight them, and we can’t escape them!"
Just then, Wang Jun suddenly posted a message in the regional channel.
"To all survivor bases, please rest assured. The Aircraft Carrier Base is merely conducting a routine fleet redeployment. We will never attack other bases without provocation!"
’Except for those we *do* have a reason to attack, of course.’ Wang Jun didn’t say that part out loud. He’d let them read between the lines.
Seeing Wang Jun’s message, the fleets from other countries near the World’s Roof all breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"See? I told you Dragon Country is a nation of civility. Why would they ever attack us?"
"Great! We can finally relax!"
"A routine fleet redeployment? Where else could the Aircraft Carrier Base possibly redeploy its fleet to?"
"To the person above, have you been living under a rock? Don’t you know the Aircraft Carrier Base already captured Dawn Base?"
"Really? No way! I only heard that the Xi’an Base had captured Dawn Base. It changed hands that quickly?"
"You’ve got to pay attention to the news in the regional channel, otherwise you’ll be completely out of the loop!"
"So you’re saying this aircraft carrier from the Aircraft Carrier Base is headed for Dawn Base? That’s way too far, isn’t it? Do they even have that much fuel?"
"Unless the Aircraft Carrier Base has other sub-bases, it must be heading for Dawn Base!"
"In that case, the Aircraft Carrier Base is probably going to use up all its fuel this time."
While everyone was chattering away, Bao Mu of the Xi’an Base frowned deeply. He couldn’t for the life of him figure out why the Aircraft Carrier Base would deploy an aircraft carrier.
"Do they really have that much fuel?" Bao Mu was completely baffled.
The staff officer beside him was just as bewildered. "It is strange. Besides the fuel issue, are they sending an aircraft carrier this way to target us?"
"It’s hard to say," Bao Mu said, shaking his head slightly. "But we don’t have to worry. The units we have watching Dawn Base are all speedboats. An aircraft carrier won’t be able to do anything to stop them."
The staff officer paused for a moment. "That’s true!"
Just then, Bao Mu received a message from the team watching Dawn Base.
"Sir, the teams from Dawn Base have gone crazy!" the surveillance squad leader reported urgently. "They’ve sent out a huge number of speedboats. The moment they spot us, they start chasing us frantically and show no signs of stopping. What should we do?"
Bao Mu was stunned for a moment, then immediately replied, "Fall back for now. I refuse to believe they’ll dare to chase you the whole way!"
"Yes, sir. Should we retreat in the direction of our base?" the squad leader asked with a frown.
The staff officer at his side immediately interjected, "No! The Aircraft Carrier Base deploying a carrier while Dawn Base sends out speedboats to harass our units... this must be a one-two punch!"
Bao Mu’s expression changed. That was indeed a possibility, and a very likely one at that.
’By using their speedboats to drive our teams back, they can figure out the location of the Xi’an Base. And that aircraft carrier that set out at the same time... its target must be the Xi’an Base!’
"Fuck, that Captain Wang is too damn cunning!" Bao Mu cursed. "He goes on and on about not attacking other fleets without reason, then turns right around to come after us!" He then immediately commanded, "Under no circumstances are you to retreat in the direction of the base!"
The surveillance squad leader replied helplessly, "But if we don’t retreat toward the base, we’re going to run out of power soon!"
"Just hold on a little longer," Bao Mu replied in a grim voice. "Keep sharing your position at all times. I’ll arrange for a team to rendezvous with you!"
